Come here in-frequently these days when I don't feeling like driving to Noriega, Irving or Clement streets for my Asian groceries. Used to come more often when my kids went to school nearby. Recommend coming before 10 am on a weekend as it gets busy on the weekends. Small diagonal space parking lot and diagonal metered parking in front. Not as big as Ranch 99 or T&T where I've been to in Canada speaking of which T&T will be opening in San Francisco and Millbrae in the Fall of 2026. read more

Great Asian supermarket with a wide variety of very affordable goods! If you need anything for an Asian dish, this market probably has it. They have tons of fresh produce, live & fresh seafood, meats, pantry items, refrigerated & frozen items, sauces & condiments, snacks and more! I love their selection of frozen dumplings, they have so many kinds. I always have some in my freezer, they're perfect for a quick meal. Overall, Sunset Super mostly has Chinese and other Asian foods but they carry some general household staples like butter, flour, sugar etc. read more

One of the larger Asian markets in the Sunset district. The store is a bit disorganized with a lot of inventory. I came to buy food for cooking hot pot at home. Lots of fresh veggies, containers of sliced pork, beef or chicken in the frozen meat section and the frozen Dace fish balls near the meat section are pretty good. I don't come often to shop here but they usually have everything I need to cook an Asian meal. read more

This place has a huge selection of seasonal vegetables, sauces, noodles, buns, dumplings, meat and seafood! I come here every week to get my groceries and everything is very cheap. I'd shopped Sunset Super awhile ago. It's an affordable Asian supermarket where you can buy things that aren't readily available elsewhere or all in one store. Produce offered beautiful Napa cabbage, two kinds of baby bok choy, daikon, seaweed, big bunches of herbs, cooking sauces plus lots of variety in their fresh meat and seafood department. Signage and flooring look like the store hasn't been upgraded in years but the store is very clean and well-stocked. The staff is kind and helped me find items while I shopped and menu planned so I wouldn't have to go out in this bad storm anytime soon. Ambiance feels like the land that time forgot from the 50s and 60s: Some goods were priced to that era like double honey oranges & cocktail grapefruits, not complaining! Sunset Super is a reliable store when on the west side of town. There's a small private parking lot and easy street parking outside. read more

Convenient grocery store walking distance in my neighborhood!! Although I dislike the prepackaged fruit and vegetables in the plastic bags, I know they're prepackaged due to covid. However not all fruits and veggies are pre-packed so just take a step inside and wander around. The prices are decent, somewhere in the middle - not inexpensive but also not ridiculously unreasonable. I do have to say that the produce lacks freshness and you can tell that the freshness quality could be better. They have a decent selection of Asian snacks and noodles and ramen as well. If you're looking to hot pot, they have shabu meats available pre-packaged by the meat section, usually by weight. I'm pretty sure you can also just ask for fresh shabu cuts from the butchers though although I haven't had a chance to ask yet. All in all, if I'm needing something quick from the Asian supermarket this is the one most convenient for me so I'd definitely check here first. If I had time and gas, I'd shop on clement or Chinatown for fresher produce for better prices. read more

This time I bought a bottle of new version condensed milk, usually in a can. Also get a pack of dried leaweed for soup. If you know you know. So let me tell you this, if your only dining experience with far eastern foods is P.F. Chang's, you should just keep shopping at Andronico's. Seafood? Fresh. Pork? Oink b!?!h, oink. Beef? Marbled and affordable. Chicken? Duck? TF? There is a whole aisle for sauces. Both sides folks, both MFING sides. They sell dry noodles in bulk and it's so cheap you'd think it was 19, 19, 1985. But real talk, if you like to have a comfortable, airy shopping experience; if you enjoy an easy to access parking lot; if you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain, this is not your spot. BUT IF YOU LIKE AUTHENTIC, QUALITY MFING FOODS AND THE GNARLY EASTERN ASIATIC AMBIANCE come here. Be daring. Take risks. Try a fish head or two. Just don't try to haggle with the OGs behind the fish counter, they'll LOL in your face and still pack it like an envelope on New Year. read more

One of my go to supermarket when I am in the sunset district. You will find a good amount of Asian products in here, from sauces to snacks to Chinese veggies, you can almost find everything here. Be careful if you buy meats here, because in the past every time I got them, they had a stinky (old, unfresh) smell to them and I ended up running to Safeway or another supermarket to get something new. Some workers only speak Cantonese or Mandarin, so services are decent if you speak Chinese, but I did see some English-speaking customers get frustrated and I went and helped translate. read more

Not that this is the fist time I've ever reviewed a market before (and it most certainly won't be the last), but I have to admit that me posting this has more to do with not having a lot of new places to write about right now and less about feeling compelled to add to Sunset Supermarket's Yelp rating. Don't bet me wrong, though - this place is great and I'm actually feeling motivated to post this despite my writer's block. It's just that, if these were normal times, you'd be reading about some eatery/restaurant instead of this. I guess it's just another byproduct of being cooped up in the house for so long. I never though I'd actually need to rebuild/refresh my list of places to write about! Now, while there clearly isn't a shortage of Asian markets in the Sunset and Richmond districts, not many, if any, can approach the size of this place (save for the Sunset Super on Irving, which may or may not still be a Sunset Super and/or owned by the same folks). In a sense, these guys were 99 Ranch before 99 Ranch started sprouting up around the Bay Area! Although they don't have the same depth of brands/varieties that 99 Ranch has to offer, they very much have the same range of offerings - fresh produce that's cheaper than the likes of Safeway and Lucky, a wide array of Asian snacks and instant noodles, large seafood and meat counters, Asian ice cream and boba bars, frozen sliced meats and fish balls for hot pot, fresh noodles and tofu, and so much more. Like literally, my list does them zero justice. Given how they may (or may not) still be sister locations, it's no surprise that this place is laid out exactly the same as the one on Irving. However, while it seems slightly smaller in size, this Sunset Super doesn't feel nearly as cramped. Not sure if it's because the aisles are wider, but it's definitely not as crowded (super clutch both pre- and post-COVID), which is a big reason why I actually prefer driving out here even though I'm on Irving far more often. What's more, despite the fact that this location's parking lot is less than half the size of the other one, it's actually way easier to find parking here - and there aren't any meters either! As far as prices go, I can't if there's much of a difference between the two Sunset Supers, but prices here are slightly higher than some of the smaller ones in the Sunset and Richmond (though they are superior in selection), comparable to 99 Ranch, and certainly higher than the markets in Chinatown (but that's true for every non-Chinatown Asian market). Regardless though, it's hard to argue with the convenience and shorter drive. If I'm armed with a longer grocery list, I'll probably still head down to 99 Ranch. Otherwise, to get whatever few necessities in between those trips, this is definitely my go-to spot! read more

There are two outposts in the Sunset. This particular one is in the outer Parkside. As with many Asian markets, there are food stands running alongside the outside perimeter of the supermarket. Here you'll find dry goods, bagged veggies and bagged fruits. It's hit or miss with the produce. I suggest you examine what's inside the veggie bags by looking at the coloring of the produce and the stems for discoloration. Fruit and produce located inside the supermarket too. I like their baby choy' sum. Most of their leafy green veggies are pre-bagged. During the current pandemic there's someone stationed at the entrance who'll check if you're wearing a face covering and dispensing a squirt of hand sanitizer on the palm of your hand before you're allowed in. The shopping aisles are very narrow. So it falls on you to be alert so that you can maintain 6 feet of social distancing. Have an idea what you need to purchase. Great selection of Asian spices & bottled sauces. There's a fish station and a butcher area. I've never bought fish but I've purchased meat. I just point to what I want to buy. I find it's easier that way. Once you are ready to check out, there are signs on the floor separating 6 feet social distancing in the check out line. The check out is very quick. Bring a reusable bag if you like. read more

Decent supermarket but whenever I'm in the vegetable/fruit section I see moldy coconuts that have been there for quite a while.

Okay for vegetables and packaged foods. Yet the meat and fish department practice poor hygiene. And they toss their trimmings into single ply garbage bags that leak blood and then wheel it through store and across street to parking lot, where blood pools into the sidewalk. Really sticks. No hospital or butcher would tolerate this. Why the health department allows this to happen, is another failure of the city. Really, be careful of getting food poisoning here, as there is a huge about of biocontamination on the floors. read more

They offer a variety of vegetables that you wouldn't normally find at a mainstream supermarket like Safeway. For instance, I like to come here to get bittermelon, wintermelon, bok choy, yam leaves, etc. The prices are cheap but the freshness and quality are not the best. If my schedule allows, I prefer to take the bus over to the farmers market on the other side of town which has fresh (and sometimes even organic) yam leaves and bittermelon. This market has a fish/meat section along with a snack, candy, spice, and noodle aisle. The spice and noodle aisle are fairly comprehensive and include all kinds of rice noodles along with cumin, coriander, star anise etc. read more

I should have known better than to trust the Milka chocolate wafers they are selling at this store were made in Switzerland. The Milka products in the American stores are actually from Switzerland so I just assumed the ones sold at this store were also made in Switzerland. Or at the very least they'd be made in a western European country. But after I got home I read the packaging carefully and the label on the sides and the back are 99% in Russian with the English description only on the front of the package. It can be assumed to be Russian manufactured. However, there is nowhere to be found any manufacturer named nor where it is made. There are a couple of descriptions in Spanish and German. So be aware if you think you're getting a genuine Western European made product at this store. Because it may not be manufactured in Russia or wherever else. read more

i don't understand why there are so many low ratings. The ambience and culture in this store is amazing. I have lived here and grew up in this area for most of my life and this store was my go to store to shop for groceries. The employees are so friendly and nice and the prices for food and snacks are also not too expensive and there is a fairly wide variety of foods! So sad that so many people are commenting such negative comments. This is a store mostly for people who live around here and are locals. If your not a local, I still hope you can find the same type of love for the culture of this store. read more

Don't come in here expecting this place to be H-Mart. This is a typical old school Asian supermart like Pacific Super, or to a lesser degree 99 Ranch. With that in mind, it's a good place to have close by in this neighborhood. Pick your food or canned goods carefully, check the expiry dates and eyeball the meats to see if it pass the fresh test. Wash and cook them thoroughly and you should be fine. Don't expect sashimi grade fish here, but shabu shabu stuff should pass. At checkout, trust but verify the items in your receipt. If there is a discrepancy, complain about it and get it resolved. Then get out so others can park in the spot you've taken. read more

Decent market and located in the middle of the outer Sunset. Few other stores that far out there. Yes, they had a good amount of fish. Luckily, it was mostly all on ice. Came here before they closed yesterday. We were around town and thought of trying to check out a different grocery store. We checked out their produce and fruit stands that they have outside and holy moly, dirt cheap! This place is so cheap, it kinda make me suspicious where they get their food from. And then we entered.... Straight to the meat section of course! There was a lovely notice on the meat section that their meat is grown straight from the good ol' USA!!!! 'MERICA!!! We didn't get any meat because we weren't really feelin it. Some of the prices were a little over priced but that because I think of its demand in this location. Anyway, we then headed over to the fish section. They were already putting them away in the boxes but left some of them out until they completely closed. I wasn't really impressed with the selection. But I am willing to give them another try and try to come in earlier. We ended up buying some salmon. I was kinda skeptic at the freshness of it because it didn't look fresh to me. I told my brother to try to get a whiff of it and he said he couldn't smell anything. I thought it was because he was too far from it. I told him it was up to him it he wanted to get it. Turns out, it was pretty fresh as hell!!! Overall, we are DEFINITELY going to check this place out. I'm all for it. It beats driving to 99 ranch all the time. read more

Yesterday my wife make the mistake of buying a package of 3 pears yesterday, only one was wrapped in styrofoam when we got home, we got a damn surprise, a rotten pear with mold! I have to say that I've been to this supermarket before and it was always seem dirty and nasty. Saturday, 4/28 I purchased two Manila mango for 99 cent each. Tonight,4/29 decided to cut one up for dessert. Once I sliced into the mango, the shit was bad and I mean freaking rotten. The outside seem fine but the inside was not. If you plan to buy fruit, be careful because you never know if it's good or rotten. I will get my fruit from sprouts, Wholefoods, Safeway, hell even from the guy standing on the corner. Here's the picture validating my case. When I called one of their sister store and the lady who answered the phone was not sincere with her apology. She thought I wanted a refund. Aisles are a little cramped as is, so if you come on a weekend, it'll really test your patience. They also started pre-packing all produce which is convenient at times, annoying at others. It's convenient cause it prevents people from squeezing and squishing the produce to see if it's good...but other times, when you need just one of something...you'll get stuck with two or three instead, unless you decide to break the packaging...BUT if you do, they charge more for the item individually. So suck it up and plan multiple recipes instead. Produce is pretty fresh and the butchers readily recommend the best cuts for whatever you are looking to prepare. One even took the time to explain (and point out) what I should look for when shopping for pork chops. They have a tiny parking lot, max 10 cars....but street parking is pretty easy this far down on Vicente...really, your only competition for parking is from kids/families visiting South Sunset Playground. read more

Typical Asian supermarket. Parking is a little tough. There's a small parking area in the back of the store on 39th but for the most park you'll have to rely on street parking. They didn't have a very large dumpling option which was the main reason I was there lol. Also, my favorite fresh noodle that's typically at most Asian markets was missing and the rice noodle variety was also lacking. They have most of the Asian stuffs, the seafoods and meats are good, but ambience is so so.

Be careful of any thinly sliced meat sold here. It may look fresh and have today's packed on date, but that is only the top layer of meat. Beneath the top layer of red colored meat is a large portion of frozen dark colored meat that obviously has been frozen for several weeks and couldn't be sold. This is deceptive marketing and potentially dangerous because the meat obviously has been past the sell by date and then repackaged. read more

They usually have the items my family needs for Filipino food. I prefer this store than places like Pacific Supermarket just because of distance. Although, this store did not carry Calamansi concentrate, which I believe is a travesty! Nevertheless, it is a quick fix for gathering produce, meat and seafood. If ever I get fish, I always consider them frying it up for me. The service is usually good. The workers speak decent English. I find it really cool when people who are not Asian by decent come inside and explore-not to mention how they deal with that seafood smell. A great place in my neighborhood that allows me to stay close to home instead of driving out to Noriega or farther Irving. read more

Wow. I know I've passed on to old-lady-hood when I happily got a huge bag of groceries for just under $20 shopping at this supermarket. I wouldn't say that everything is the freshest, but when you need something to cook that day and for cheap, this is your best bet (well, if you're in the area)! Anyways, they have a great variety of produce and your typical Asian ingredients.
