A little over a month ago I had to vertebrae in my back fused. Since then, I have been unable to reach my feet to properly exfoliate and care for them. Lynn and Sandy welcomed me into the salon, sat me in a pedicure chair, and proceeded to make me feel relaxed, pampered, and beautiful. The location was a little out of the way, but the service was great. I went with my mom for a mani pedi right before Mother's Day. The complementary hot rock massage that came with the pedicure was a highlight. May(sp?) did our nails (just normal nail polish, not gel) and she was meticulous about getting the color to cover the whole nail but not my skin, swiping it off as she painted and coming in before she put the clear coat on with a brush of nail polish remover to touch it up. They started out rather quiet/focused, but if you make conversation they are very nice! I will return next time I want my nails done. read more

I go to Sandy regularly for my pedicure. It's so quiet and calm in the shop. I'm so relieved not to hear non-stop nattering in Vietnamese. After several surgeries by podiatrists, my ingrown toenails weren't cured. With Sandy's knowledge, she keeps the nails trimmed so that I don't have to have the surgeries anymore. She's very efficient but also takes her times to get it right. I leave the shop with perfectly polished, gleaming nails and the polish lasts. The quiet time there is deliciously refreshing. She even lets me stay longer than I need and just sit on the sofa and read or knit. Because of the language barrier I don't know her extremely well but from the words we do exchange, I believe she's a good and moral person. That makes a difference to me. read more

I go to this place a lot to get gel manicures and regular pedicures. Place can seem a bit overpriced compared to other places I've gone to in the southbay but I go there pretty often because it's conveniently by my work so it helps me avoid traffic. Usually just call day of for appointment and mostly has been fine. Gel manicure is $25 and basic pedicure is $30. Manicure is great price for gel but pedicure is a bit much for basic. Add $5-10 bucks I believe if you want spa which they sometimes don't ask if you want it so make sure you let them know ahead of time what you need. Overall pretty good job and that's why I come back. read more

I walked in yesterday BEFORE 7pm; several minutes, almost an hour before 7pm (but not quite) and was told no, they couldn't do my nails. Now, two things: 1) If you search on Yelp by how late an establishment is open, this one says open to 8pm. 2) There was no engagement, meaning, "Hi, have you been to our salon before?" Been coming here for four years and wouldn't go anywhere else! The girls that work here are friendly and provide great customer service. Lynn(the owner) and Sandy(whom does the best acrylic) are wonderful! They provide you with a 5star experience offering you tea or water and a relaxing massage. They never rush, taking their time w/each customer and make sure you will come back. I love this place! I use to go to Sandy every two weeks, for a few months, but unfortunately she can be in the salon only once a week(usually Tuesdays), which is not always convenient, so I start using other girls in there, and I must say, everyone is fantastic! They will always wait for you with the big smile on there faces, you can always book same day appointment, and they will always do amazing job, no matter what it is. Very clean place, great massage chairs for the pedicure, they have TV now, so you can relax, watch your favorite program or listen to a lovely music that they are always playing here. I tried Excellent Nails after a disappointing experience at my current nail place and I was really pleased with the outcome. I came in as a walk in and she was able to accommodate me, but its probably best to make an appointment. The place is very clean, bright and relaxing. They opened for us on Sunday, July 4th! I guess they usually close on Sundays, which I didn't know...so I called and made an appointment for 3 of us. I was really surprised when I found out that they close on Sundays. My nails looked great and the service was awesome! I got a full set and a pedi. Excellent Nails is beyond Excellent! I met Hailey when I was looking for someone to do my nails for my wedding in March. After our test run, my nails looked so beautiful that I have returned on a regular basis and will never go anywhere else for my manicures. I found this nail salon three years ago when I began working in redwood shores and I've been impressed with the work so far. I am very particular when it comes to my nails whether it be shape, color, cleanliness, or price so finding a nail salon is very challenging. When I call the salon, they are very accommodating and I always have Lynn, the owner, do my nails. She is very detailed and never rushes the process when she's doing nails. I'm updating my review because after 2 hours of complete care they deserved more than the few words I offered. Every time I have gone to Excellent Nails I am offered either hot tea or water. No other place had done that. They include massage to your hands and arms following a manicure. No other place has massaged my arms and neck! The amount of time taken is genuine and I never feel like they're rushing me, the opposite is true...these women take their time and deliver quality. I have been going to Excellent Nails since I moved from burlingame last year March. All the nail techs there are so sweet. I have never found a salon that is so affordable, techs do such a nice job and I am always happy after! They do wonderful massages, especially the hot stone for the standard pedicure ($25). Manicures are great ($13) and shellac for hands is also done well, my nails just can't handle it more than just for special occasions ($24). They have done fun nail art after I showed them a pinterest picture, fixed a chipped nail and torn nail when I've popped in briefly and simply just do a great job. They may not be the fastest nail salon but I'd rather they were meticulous like they are and not rushed. I do recommend making an appointment, but I have also walked in many times. I never thought I'd budget regular nail appointments into my time and finances but these girls have made me addicted! Makes me feel so much better to have pretty nails :) read more

I have been going here for over 3 years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. Lynn and now Sandy (since Lynn was on vacation) get my nails perfect every time. I have done both natural and artificial nails here and have had no issue with any service received. I highly recommend you make an appointment because it can get really busy! My only complaint would be that 50% of the time, my appointment is always late. I'm patient and could care less but this could be a turn off for people who need to be on schedule. Donna is my favorite for pedicures because she is always gentle and never rushes. My overall favorite thing about going here is that everyone pays attention to detail. Such a great experience! From the outside, it kind of looks like a hole in the wall type salon right off El Camino. But sometimes those hole-in-the-wall spots are hidden jems and this salon is definitely one of them. I scheduled the first appointment at 11am on a Sunday for Pink and White nails. When I walked in, I was greeted at the door by Lien with a warm and welcoming smile. My mancurist was Ha and she was so sweet! We talked the whole time about our families and it was so nice to be able to connect with someone you've never met before right off the bat. She was extremely attentive asking if I wanted a beverage and how I liked my nails, double-checking throughout the appointment to make sure I was happy with how things were going. I really appreciated her taking the time to make my first time there pleasant and I felt well taken care of. I also requested some flower designs on my thumb nails, which Lien took care of. She was just as sweet as Ha and was extremely courteous as well. And I am so impressed with how my designs turned out, it literally looks like a stencil that's how perfect they look! I shouldn't fail to mention also that when I walked into the salon, I had these cheap (no offense CVS) $5 fake nails from Nailene. I wanted to try them out since they made them in petite nail sizes and I have small hands and nails. I had no idea the horror of removing them however haha. But Ha was very nice about it all and took care my nails in a gentle manner. So that was a bonus in my mind. We laughed about it (that's how bad it was). As far as appearances and cleanliness in the salon, I couldn't expect more. Everything was spotless. A few women came in during my 1 hour and 45 minutes at the salon to get mani/pedis. As soon as they were out of the chairs, everything was cleaned immediately and sanitized. And everyone was in such a good mood! You know you've found a good spot when during your appointment, you have a regular come in and everyone working there greets that customer by their first name. I knew I made a good choice coming here. Finally, pricing! I live in Palo Alto and was looking around PA, Menlo Park, Redwood City, and couldn't find a spot I felt was the right fit for me. Most of the salons in my area are more expensive than the $35 I'm used to for Gel nails. When I called Excellent Nails to ask them what their prices were for Pink and White nails, they said $45.00 which seemed fair and their Gel nails were $35. My nail designs were on special I think, 2 for $5.00. So my total came to $50.00 for dealing with my horrific cheap plastic nails when I walked in, taking time to make sure I was satisfied with my nails throughout my appointment, great conversation, and wonderful service from all employees. Truly EXCELLENT!! Couldn't make it up to my regular spot in SF so gave this place a call on a Saturday around noon asking if I could come in for a pedicure at 12:30. They told me to come on in. I was a little butt hurt when I walked in to see they were still working on 3 ppl, and I would have to wait. BUT the wait was only 10 min & they were very kind about it. On to the pedicure...definitely one of the top 5 pedicures I've ever had in my life. Holy smokes!!!! Went for the Spa Pedicure for $28, but they had a basic option, luxury & star. My Spa pedicure included a glorious hot stone massage, sea salt scrub, and my lady really put in effort in working on my feet & tickling me to death as well. All three of the ladies working were so nice & cheery & it was clear their customers loved them. They wear these white short doctorish lab coats that are really short & kinda sexy lol. Maybe that's why I saw 2 men in there getting pedicures :-) haaaa! They are moving to a different location further south on El Camino but they will keep the name & nail techs & I will 100% be back for the hot stone pedicure!!!! read more

I visited this salon on 6/15 because of the great reviews on yelp. I called earlier that day for an appt and arrived about 15 min early. They were busy but took me on time. They were not very friendly and I felt very uncomfortable there. The russian chick on the phone the entire time didn't help matters. The girl that did my nails rushed thru the cuticles. The cuticles on both my hands and feet looked pretty rough when I left but I was most interested in how the shellac job would turn out. It was good for about 1 week then started to peel from the nail beds so that they were snagging in my hair and on my clothes. The girl that did my pedicure gave a great massage and thats why I gave 3 stars rather than 2 I was hopeful here but alas--no good! read more

What amazes me is that I got a french manicure done by her and they lasted 3-4 days longer than any other manicure I have gotten anywhere else. I'm kinda surprised the reviews are so high. I called and made an appointment for a full set of gels and a lash tint. I went in ans Sandy asked me if I wanted a color or pink & whites and I decided on pink & whites, still assuming I was getting gels. Sandy started doing my nails and I noticed that she was using what looked like acrylic to me and I said something to her. She said no it's not acrylic, it's crystal. I have never heard of crystal nails before but whatever. I kept telling her I wanted them short, I hate long nails, and she kept telling me the length was short enough. She got done with my nails, they were way too long and way too thick. I was very irritated. I asked for gels because I didn't want thick fake looking nails and that is what I got. On to the last tint. My first warning sign was I had to sign a waiver. I have had my lashes tinted many, many times before and never had to sign a legal waiver! Well a few minutes in to the procedure I knew why. My eyes were BURNING! Sandy flushed my eyes over and over but they still stung horribly. I have never experienced this before either. After I left I went home and googled crystal nails. Turns out there is no such thing, it is just acrylic. I specifically wanted gels, asked for gels and left with acrylics and burning eyes :( read more
