I'm not sure how I've driven past this place for 15+ years and never stopped in or heard of a recommendation. It's VERY hard to find good donuts in Westchester and Sunshine truly shines. The glazed and strawberry frosted are true perfection -- light and airy but with enough chewiness in the dough and with just the right amount of sweetness. The toasted coconut and chocolate frosted are more cake style, which is not my preference for donuts, but they were still tasty. Best bagels in the county, period. Awesome donuts Superb French vanilla coffee. My only complaint, was that they ran out of Swiss cheese one day, but that was just one day! I will say it was funny because I googled a different bagel shop nearby and when I got there and looked up the reviews I decided to keep searching and I stumbled on this one so I left there I and went here. I am so glad I did! The staff was fine but no one went out of their way to have a conversation or anything but the bagel definitely made up for it. I arrived around 9:30am a busy time but because it is a bagel shop they were very quick with my order. I was so excited to see they have cheddar cheese bagels! Not something I have seen much up north but they are my favorite! I had one of those with jalepeno cream cheese. The cream cheese was perfect. Sometimes the jalepeno is too pickled in the cream cheese altering it's flavor but this one was good. My bagel was warm and had a nice chew to it (signs of a great bagel). You know a bagel shop is good when the customer in front of you gets a plain bagel with butter (just saying). If I am ever in the area again I would definitely go back. They had a large variety of options! Not the cheapest- my bagel with just cream cheese was almost $5, but was it worth it? Most definitely! This is definitely my favorite place for breakfast or lunch when in the mood for a bagel. Their everything bagels are some of the best (probably THE best) that I've had. Always loaded with the seasoning. Their coffee is also really good which makes for a perfect meal. I dig a good bagel and sunshine bagel in Ardsley has some good tasty bagels. For me nothing beats a hot fresh bagel and I don't even need any cream cheese or whatever in between my bagel but if I get some veggie cream cheese or egg whites inside my bagel I won't be mad . Bright spacious shop with ample seating and the menu board is simple to understand and wow they got donuts as well as other types of sweets plus the selections of bagels and spreads is extensive. This place opens early everyday and its 7am and I aint the only one inside on line ordering goodies .I always am thinking of others so a dozen assorted bagels , large container of veggie cream cheese and a dozen of donuts which must include glaze donuts or a few of my peeps will give me hell if I don't. Nice and hot chewy bagel, blueberry muffin and diet Pepsi is what I need on a cold February morning . I was waiting for my car being worked on at Ardsley Motors (which I highly recommend, see review) and stopped in here after reading about the everything bagel. I have to agree, it's probably the best I've ever had! So many of them have not e Okc there seasoning, the one they make is perfect. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that all the tables were dirty & it wasn't super busy. There's only a few tables, someone could have wiped them down in less than five minutes. I have been an ongoing customer at Sunshine Bagel over the past 15 years. Bagels are decent, and service has not been problematic in my experience (contrary to that of other reviewers). Last Saturday, though, I ordered a buttered bagel and was dismayed to be served what tasted like margarine. I got the bagel to go, so I couldn't complain directly, and I don't know that they would have admitted it, but there's an unmistakably slick and unpleasant mouthfeel to margarine, and this bagel definitely had it. They sell a variety of donuts and bagels and (obvi) there is a small deli where you can get the staple deli sandwiches. I can see how this place can get easily overwhelmed because of how small the place is and how every sandwich is made to order. The woman who took my order could have been a little friendlier and it is a huge pet peeve of mine when I have to keep asking "what" and "say that again" because someone behind the counter is mumbling while asking me about my order. Their bagels are what I remember growing up with in NY - the flavor is great, the texture is great and their homemade cream cheeses are delicious. The NY bagel isn't toasted, it's just cut in half with cream cheese or lox. When the bagels are hot, that's a 5-star-er, but generally they are really good. It threw me off when the Asian owners served me the bagel, but damn they make great bagels. You know a good bagel shop by the assortment of homemade cream cheeses in a multitude of flavors, and the availability of lox! Dense, but not too dense, chewy and delicious. This place always has poeple in there, which also leads me to believe it's good, and they also sell donuts, but I only come for the bagels. On my way out I will stop by here and grab one for the road, the cream cheese doesn't go bad that quickly, and half on the start of the trip and the other half of the bagel half way through the trip is my perfect drive and companion. They are so rude and get the order wrong 8 out of 10 times. You can't order more than 2 bagels or it will be wrong. I get a different price every time but I order the same thing every Friday. I called in an order MONTHS ago and was unable to pick it up cause I had an emergency but wasn't able to call them to pick up. I understand I messed up but today I called an order in because I was running late for work and the lady told me when I show up they will make it because they somehow remembered I didn't pick up months ago. So not only was I late to work because they made me wait longer but the lady was rude about me not picking up months ago after explaining I couldn't. We have been living I Ardsley for 5 months and I had very high hopes coming from the bagel wasteland of northern westchester. At first I was content (not impressed ) with this "prototypical" NY suburb bagel shop....but lately I'm noticing that the overall quality is very inconsistent. Some days you get a solid NY fluffy and crispy bagel....others you get a piece of bread in the shape of a bagel, we have yet to get them warm once. Sandwiches are very unimpressive. Lox get you one or two slivers of fish with at time pre sliced onions. Egg sandwiches are often tasteless. The amount of traffic this place gets makes me feel sad for the people of Ardsley and westchester in general. If the owners would take a little more pride In putting out constant food instead of churning the insanely long lines quickly....I think this place would be great. Best NY style bagels I have ever had. Four stars only because I will admit I have yet to have a bagel from some little bagel place actually in the city, but I bet they are just like this. The bagels are so good, they are the only thing I have gotten each time I go, but there are muffins doughnuts and sandwiches too. The bagels are a good size, one will fill you up. Perfectly chewy on the inside. Plenty of varieties. Lots of spreads, as well. $2 will get you bagel w/ plain cr ch. Lots of people behind the counter, so even if you start waiting in line outside the door you don't wait long. Fast service. Bad parking situation though, if you go on a Sunday morning. Many people swear by Sunshine Bagel; in fact it is so popular they were able to open a stand alone second location on Central Ave. I am a big fan myself, but the bagels aren't tip top ALL the time. First of all, the inside has the potential to be so much nicer. It doesn't feel very clean and could use either a major renovation or some serious maintenance. I don't notice it anymore, but everyone that comes in with me comments on a smell. Aight so besides that, the bagels have got to be some of the best in the area. You've got Bagel Emporium, What A Bagel, some great bagel places in Hastings, and several other delis that serve up some great bread with a hole in the middle. However, since I frequent this area a lot I end up coming to Sunshine probably the most. Sunshine is a safe bet. Maybe the bagel will have an off-day, but even an off-day for Sunshine is swell. read more

I have been coming here for over 20 years and this place never disappoints their bagels are made with a different ingredient makes them more chewy other Bagels. This makes them stand out the place is run very efficient and even though it has not been updated the food is first clas and served promptly. A taste that is decided upon one's own jurisdiction taste buds, thus causing the difference in opinions upon which suburban bakery is superior. The largely displayed menu high in the restaurant's air is a list of many baked goodies that can show that this little store in suburbia ain't so bad. Bagels with sesame seeds, a plain bagel, a bagel with ingrained raisins, a bagel that reeks of onions, a bagel with an egg; a bagel without an egg, yet with grease oozing bacon? If you have a mind towards sugar, try their moderately good donuts (you can actually find better donuts in Dunkin' donuts - a couple hundred yards away across the bridge or down the route). There's chocolate, vanilla, glazed, and probably a strawberry one. All are baked thoroughly for those who are sober or baked, especially to cater for Ardsley's large amount of teenage potheads who sometimes visit here to pick up munchies. On one side of the store is a refrigerator filled with a surprising amount of beverages to accompany their brief meal. Coffee perhaps? Sunshine makes java here if you'd fancy a cup. Conveniently, the folks here at Sunshine bagels constructed a small dining room to accommodate paying guests. Then charged $.50 for using my card under $10, not unusual but it doesn't make customers happy. I don't know why Yelp calls this a donut/yogurt shop when it clearly says "Sun Shine Bagels" on the storefront. Well, Yelp got it wrong on two counts because, despite the good rating, there were no decent bagels to be found in this place. That leads me to believe the fix was in. We passed up Stars Bagels, which was mere steps away. That turned out to be a crucial mistake. I've never seen two competing bagels places that were in such close proximity to each other. Sadly, the good reviews were going to the least deserving of the two. The bagels here tasted like they were frozen bagels from the supermarket that had been thawed out. No bathroom. Limited seating. Very few redeeming qualities about this place. This establishment is obviously suffering from an identity crisis and I think it should go back to being strictly a doughnut and yogurt shop because their bagels are just not cutting it. Best bagels in Westchester but that's not telling you anything new - what people don't know about Sunshine is: (a) The Tuna salad is great - not even a big tuna fan. Among the best I've had anywhere. (b) The pistachio and snickers frozen yogurt are both very, very good. Better than red mango. (c) The muffins are soft, freshly baked and delicious. Especially the ones with cream cheese. It was frustrating to have to repeat my order 4 times, give a brief description of what my order is (in details and slowly) only to receive the wrong food and have to either eat it or go through the process of explaining it again.... Although my family and I usually enjoy their donuts a lot, they are ALWAYS very rude, curt and impatient when serving us. Why would a business that is dependent on customers treat them so discourteously? If I did that, I would never have clients myself.
