TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Purchased items that were defefective and went to return. Very rude emplyee ans had no idea what customer service is all about. Could have made a advocate of their operation, but they totally blew it. Will make sure all my friends know about it! I love books and typically spend tons of time in bookstores. I more than likely will not return to Sunshine. I inquired about an author and the man working the counter could barely be bothered to use his finger and point over to a corner- instead of actually walking all of ten feet to take a look with me, or better yet, look it up in their system. When I checked out, his counterpart had little eye contact with me, and it almost felt like it was such a chore to complete the transaction. It's unfortunate as I have always supported my local bookstores as opposed to visiting the big name ones, but I don't feel inclined to do so in this case. Too bad for them and for me. read more

I used to go here alot. They have great gifts, book, candles, etc. Now I will try anywhere else I can. About 2 months ago I needed to mail a fed ex and I wasn't sure what envelope to use and how the lable went on. There was a guy there I've never seen before and I asked him for some help and all though he did help me he was so rude and acted like I was really stupid. Last week I gave it another chance and I was struggling with the lable cover and this same guy was sitting down doing nothing watching me and didn't offer any help. I didn't want to ask him because I knew he was going to be rude but in the end I had no choice and of course he was once again so rude. I couldn't believe how rude he was especially since he wasn't busy. I wasn't interrupting him he was sitting down doing nothing. I would rather at this point drive to Naples than to ever have to deal with him again. It's a shame too because I really did like the store. I would not go here unless you have your whole FedEx already packaged and are just dropping it off. read more

I was excited to go to this bookstore since it looked really big on the outside. However, more than half of it is stuff other than books. Book selection was pretty much limited to best sellers which isn't a bad thing, I just was expecting more selection. That being said, this is a decent store. If you are looking for something for kids, it's a great place to go. Large children's section. Really cute stuffed manatees. Also a great place to get greeting cards or a gift. Great local bookstore. Friendly staff. We visited Sunshine Booksellers to purchase some books on local wildlife and history. Not only does Sunshine have a great selection on both topics but it also has a nice selection of children's and adult's books. The staff (and their dogs) were a true delight on this visit. They were friendly and made us feel welcome - which is not always a given in tourist-heavy areas. Support your local bookseller and pick up some books on Marco Island and Florida on your next visit. You might even get to pet a fuzzy friend while you're there. read more

Had a "WoW" experience moment with this very unfriendly store. The store acts as a FedEx authorized ship center and I went there to drop off a package which contained an expensive computer. When I asked the person "Bill" for a receipt, he told me they did not give such. When I asked why, he immediately went defensive and claimed that I did not trust him. I was a bit shocked that he responded this way as if I claimed he was a thief? Across the street is a UPS Store which does similar things, except they give you a receipt for drop offs without an attitude. This place feels angry and as a long time resident will never use this store for anything, ever. If this is your business "Bill", you may wish to read a book on what it takes to provide customer service without coming off as a very angry person......Life is to short. read more

Honestly this is my first review I ever write but I had such a bad experience I had to share. I have to travel internationally to see my parents and I needed to notarize a supporting letter. When I walked in there was nobody and now I know why. I asked ti have my letter notarized and i have been told by old bitter man that he had a rule not to notarize documents before 4:30. I explained that I really need this because I am traveling,he laughed at me and said "That is my rule l". If I had the option to leave 0 star review I would. They don't deserve this island. Lovely folks! They are very knowledgeable when it comes to shipping and give the utmost care to quality.

The gentleman at this store took several minutes, as in at least15, helping me return items per Fed Ex. He also cut down my box so that the shipping would be less expensive. I learned a great deal regarding shipping any item. he could not have been more pleasant. The store itself is full of lovely gifts, greeting cards, and of course, books. Well worth any visitor's time to stop for a wander through the shop. Delightful! read more

This business does not even deserve one star! Do not deal with this business they will rip you off and be rude to you while doing it! I took a package in to send back to FEDX. I asked if he could please tape the label on for me he said yes but it will cost a dollar , yes a dollar for a piece of tape. I ask if that was FEDX he said no it was his store policy. Buyer beware, this business and the people that operate this place I've found to be rude and hostile. They are incredibly unpleasant, just about everyone that works there. One nasty little "Brit" We stopped by to drop a pre paid UPS envelope, the owner informed us we should take it across the street to the UPS store, that he didn't make anything on UPS pick ups, didn't offer a receipt,w/ tracking number. Do not ship with these guys if you're price sensitive. Their shipping rates were double what USPS was able to provide, and they charge an arm and a leg for their shipping supplies ($18 for a decent size box... when I said holy cow, their response was, "well its a big box" ha... that's called robbery! Then I went to another store AND looked online and found similar sized boxes for a fraction of their price) Oh and I might add, the main reason I'm writing this review is for the poor attitude over there... No worse business characteristic than rudeness and not being friendly with customers, sheesh! Sure.... you can't fix markups and I totally understand pricing discrepancies for a local biz, but you CAN definitely fix attitude. read more

I don't know if it was the owner but the lady at the counter was rude and spoke very sharply to my children while we were checking out over $60 worth of merchandise. I am a traveling man and I recently had the opportunity to visit Sunshine Booksellers North on Marco Island. What a unique shipping store that packages and ships for clients, has a large book department with every book on the current best sellers list, has a gift department and has the largest greeting card department I have ever seen in a small store. I spent more than an hour in the store watching a steady flow of customers all there for one of the reasons previously mentioned. I was so impressed with the greeting card selections that I end up purchasing more than a dozen selections of various cards to send to friends and loved ones. There were three people working and obviously a clientele that shops there regularly because many customers greeted the employees by name and there was lots of laughter and conversation. Real nice store and independent small business at it's very best. read more

They don't want you in the store. Don't ask them a question because your question is stupid. Don't drop off a package because they don't want to be bothered. Reserved "how to be an antiracist" and "white fragility" in an effort to start educating myself on how to be a better advocate for people of color. When I got there to pick them up, the person at the counter (presumably the owner) told me that it was highly requested, so he decided to take a look. He then shared his unsolicited feedback- that it seemed like "a lot of political correctness". I relied, "well it's a time to change", and he said "maybe". I reminded him that we're all God's children, to which he agreed. I honestly considered not purchasing the books from him at all, but figured my education and the profit for the author supersedes a narrow-minded bookseller. Giving this place two stars for at least carrying the books, and a few others of note that I saw (Rodham, American dirt), despite the man's ignorance. read more

They helped me pick out books and arranged to deliver the books to my aunt ... she was in quarantine and without anything to read, and this was an incredible act of kindness. I quit going to this bookstore about 6 years ago. I went there on 3 separate occasions, and all 3 times, the owners were so incredibly rude (both husband and wife). Such a cute store. If you're looking for a good book, they have a great selection of best sellers. The store is more of a boutique than just a bookstore. They have a lot of nice greeting cards, unique gifts, decor, and adorable childrens' toys. The owners are very helpful. That is one nasty little man that works over there. I went to drop off a FEDEX package to ship out. I asked for a receipt, I know they have given them to me before. You never know things get losted. He told me if I wanted a receipt, I would have to bring it to Naples. They are not a FEDEX something or another, just a drop off? Then he said, he can give me a receipt if I pay $1.50. I said fine, I will pay. From that, he could not figure how to ring it up, so I said forget it, just take the package. I would come back if it became a problem. He pushed the package across the counter very rudely at me to take back. I just walked out, without the package. I want to document, just in case the package goes missing! I stopped by to ship a package and almost fell over when given the bill to ship a package. I would not recommend using their service as they were over double the price of going straight to FED-ex. $48 dollars for three day ground w signature is ridiculous. I payed with minimal complaint and a lesson learned. I'll be using USPS across the street from now on read more

I love sunshine books. The owners are English folks, so their personalities are different than some of us Southerners, but they have never ever been rude to me. I'm shocked at the nasty tone of these reviews. I haven't used their shipping, but I buy cards, gifts and books there quite often. I'm not sure who you're talking about, but I've always enjoyed going in the store. It's a bit crowded so it is difficult to police kids in there but not sure why these folks had such unpleasant experiences. read more

Went shopping in the store today. Not only were the sales people rude the owner gave my daughter a dirty look while she was checking us out. My daughter was playing with her new toy. I think a four year old playing in a bookstore that's sells a lot of children's merchandise is more acceptable than a grown women being rude. We will find other stores to spend our money in. read more
