4.5 stars- good, organic coffee in the downtown Forestville. They include paper straws which are a more sustainable option but you have to drink it fast or take it out if you're not using it. Refreshing on a hot day. Would be nice if they had some seating outdoors but still a nice spot and there's a park just a quick walk away.

The surfboard menu and the cold brew enticed me to this local coffee shop in Forestville. There weren't too many options around but I'm glad we ended up here. They serve a few specialty lattes and blended drinks. The locals seem to love their blended mocha as they were whipping them out left and right. I came here for their cold brew so I had to get the world famous version. It comes with creamer, vanilla, and whip. I must say the cold brew base itself was quite good. I think they used a blonde roast or a medium roast. It wasn't too tart or bitter. They also have a small pastry selection that they outsource from a local bakery but there weren't very much left when we stopped by. They also have beans on sale and I heard they are popular amongst the locals and tourists. The prices are also pretty fair and affordable in comparison to larger coffee chains. Would stop by here again if I'm ever in the area!

The indoor space greets you with ceilings so soaring you half expect a choir to descend and start harmonizing about espresso beans. The ambiance makes you want to stay well after you've actually finished your drink. My friend, a certified drink connoisseur, insisted I order the peanut butter mocha. I did. It ruined me. This drink walked in, introduced itself, and immediately filed for a permanent spot in my life. I'm not saying I've thought about it every day since -- I'm saying I've thought about it every hour since. Will I be back? Obviously. Am I already plotting my route there? Also obviously. I appreciated that the matcha was hand whisked instead of just quickly mixed together, which made it feel much more intentional and thoughtfully prepared. The latte itself was not overly sweet, although I personally would have liked a slightly stronger matcha flavor. Still, it was a great drink to walk around with while exploring the local shops and community around The Barlow. Between the atmosphere, the people, and the location, it's an easy place to keep coming back to whenever I'm in Sebastopol.

The woman helping me had dark hair, glasses, and beautiful tattoos down her arm. I ordered the sandwich and was asked whether I wanted a bagel or sliced bread. I asked about the croissant, and she told me they were out. I said that sliced bread would be fine. When I noticed I was being charged an additional $1.50 for the bread, I politely asked why there was an upcharge. Her response was, "Because we're out of croissants." I asked what the substitute was, and she looked at me and said, "Nothing." At that point, I simply said okay and accepted the bread. She then asked a young man behind her to take over, and he was very polite and finished ringing me up. A few minutes later, I could hear the woman in the back ranting to the staff, and she eventually disappeared into the back. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, and I certainly don't expect perfection. However, as a longtime business owner myself, I know how important it is to treat customers with courtesy and professionalism--even when you're having a difficult day. This interaction was completely unnecessary. I wasn't rude or demanding; I simply asked a reasonable question about a charge. I hope management takes this as an opportunity to remind staff that how you treat customers matters just as much as the product you're selling.

The sweetness of the tomato and mayo (I asked to hold the onions) go so well to balance the saltiness and fat of the sausage patty. Dear Management Team,…read more I am writing to formally express my concern regarding an extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional experience I had at Calistoga Roastery on August 21, 2027, between approximately 1:00 and 1:15 p.m. I was visiting Calistoga with a friend to celebrate our birthdays and enjoy a spa treatment. Before our appointment, we decided to stop by your coffee shop for a quick bite and a coffee. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple and pleasant experience became very upsetting and left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. When we entered the establishment, a male employee greeted us. I responded politely, "Good, how are you?" while looking at the menu. He responded, "Shitty." My friend immediately acknowledged his comment by saying, "Sorry about that." I did not hear his response clearly and continued looking at the menu. He then said to my friend, "Thank you for acknowledging it, unlike your friend. She doesn't care what day I'm having." At first, I assumed he was joking. However, once I realized he was genuinely upset with me, I apologized and explained that I had not heard what he said. Rather than accepting my apology, he continued repeatedly telling me that I "didn't give a shit" and that I "didn't care" about how he was feeling. He continued making these comments in front of my friend and other customers. I repeatedly tried to apologize and clarify that I genuinely had not heard his response, but the situation continued to escalate. At that point, I felt extremely uncomfortable and confused about what was expected of me. I had simply responded politely to a greeting and was not intentionally ignoring or dismissing him. I understand that everyone can have a difficult day, and I have empathy for that. However, it is not appropriate to project personal frustration onto a customer or repeatedly criticize them after they have apologized and attempted to clarify a misunderstanding. There was also a woman present, who appeared to have blonde hair, who witnessed the interaction. She smiled at me and commented that "he always does this." Her reaction gave me the impression that this behavior may not have been an isolated incident. The employee later explained that breakfast was no longer being served because it was after 1:00 p.m. I accepted that information without issue. Despite this, when we were leaving, I thanked him and attempted to end the interaction respectfully. He made another insulting comment in front of my friend and other customers, stating that I did not know about my friend because "she has a bad attitude." I was especially disappointed by this experience because I also work in the customer service industry. I understand that employees can have difficult days and that misunderstandings can happen. However, I would never allow a customer to be treated this way, nor would I expect an employee, supervisor, or manager to repeatedly insult or confront a customer over such a minor interaction. What should have been a quick and pleasant stop during our birthday celebration instead became an experience in which I felt embarrassed, disrespected, and unwelcome. I did not confront the employee or respond disrespectfully, despite how uncomfortable the interaction became. I continued to conduct myself with grace and professionalism because I believe that is how customers and employees should treat one another. I am respectfully asking management to take this incident seriously, investigate what occurred, and take appropriate action to ensure that other customers do not experience similar treatment in the future. I also hope that appropriate guidance or training can be provided to staff regarding professional communication and customer service. I appreciate your time in reviewing my complaint and hope to receive a response regarding how this matter will be addressed. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope you have a wonderful day.
