Super cute little spot for coffee and pastry in Larchmont... we shared the cinnamon roll. It was delicious. I think that some of the staff there were new they seem to be having a little bit of trouble making the coffee drinks. I got an iced vanilla latte, and the rest of my party had raspberry iced teas. I'm not sure if the iced tea is made from a concentrate, but it tasted very concentrated and was unsweetened so we had to add some sweetener and just let the ice melt a little bit. We will definitely be back to check it out again and like I said, I think that some of the staff were new. read more

As visitors from Georgia, we were on the hunt for a great coffee shop and Sunshine Coffee Roasters did not disappoint. This is hands-down the best coffee shop around. They roast their own beans, and you can taste the difference smooth, rich, and full of flavor. My husband drank the coffee. So delicious. I ordered the chai latte and mentioned wanting something "Georgia sweet." The staff suggested adding vanilla syrup, and it was absolutely delicious. It was Sunshine in a cup! What really made the visit special were the two staff members working that day. They were incredibly friendly, truly the nicest people we've met in New York and represented the company beautifully. The staff and service here is impeccable. John, Julia, Gillian, Marcus, Harley, Spencer are all great people. Don't trust the rest of these reviews as what do you expect your "barista" to be? A 45 year old rocket scientist? Of course it's a job for young people. We live in an age where people need to be heard and in this snooty town, everyone has to find something petty to complain about. I've been going to this place for 20 years and they're a community coffee shop with great coffee and great young people working there. Always have been and I could name them. Are they going to make mistakes? Sure, like everyone else. And they'll fix it like they always have. There's about 100 of the same loyal customers there every morning from 6-9 AM so what does that tell you? Reviewers should stop being so critical if there was a mistake somewhere. Let us judge reviewers lives as they judge hard working young people. Give the place a shot, they can make anything the green machine can make, as Julia just did for me for my girlfriend's favorite green machine drink. The coffee is also as fresh as can be. For many years this was the home of Aroma Coffee. It is now the home of 'Sunshine' and if my experience is anything to go by, the sun should soon be setting. The sooner the better. The lay out of the place was changed 90 degrees from Aroma creating and area for more sitting in and less counter space. Now the down side. Aroma use to have a large chalk board showing the wares right there. Sunshine has them on two smaller board on the supports on either side of the back area. Not as easy to find or read almost as if stuck on as an afterthought "Oh right we need to put up the menu!" Still this is quibbling. If you have a 2nd visit you'll know where to look and look hard because they'll still be hard to read. My big problem was the service. Midday on a Saturday and the staff were two kids, high school aged wearing, whatever; Street clothes. There's no sense of even a uniform color scheme (everyone where a blue top and black pants type thing) and this sloppiness extends into the service. I can understand chatting when there are no customers but to do so when you've got things to do goes beyond rude to downright insulting. While I waited for two cappuccinos she was going on to her coworker about who she saw where, wearing what. She had to stop once to look at the cups to remember where she was in the process and again while frothing the milk stopped to turn and talk over her shoulder to the guy there. I bit my lip to stop myself from saying something like "milk, froth, now, please." The guy was no better saying out loud "Who is this sandwich for?" Much to the consternation of the two men waiting for earlier placed orders. The kicker to this bonanza of bad service came when she handed me my cups and pocketed the change! Now, I had already decided that the change would be the tip but silyl me, I'D LIKE TO BE THE ONE TO MAKE THE CALL. "Uh, change please." I said levelly and without so much as an "oh sorry" she opened the till and handed it over. I loved 'Aroma' and frequented it regularly when I lived in the area and still I get up to Larchmont every 6 weeks or so. Going there was as much for the coffee as to thumb my nose at the big brand across the street but this sort of service? I see clouds gathering for Sunshine unless the owner can take a firmer hand over the staff. read more

Turns out it may be a little too light for me so I'll probably kick it up to medium on my next visit. There was a dude sitting there on laptop so chances are they have wifi, but I didn't have time to investigate during my first visit. They were completely out of pastries which is a good/bad thing. I have been coming to this location since the late '90's, the current incarnation, Sunshine Coffee Roasters, has a vastly improved layout with more seating and an open feel, even for a small space. They roast all of their own beans on site and have a great selection of local bagels and pastries. The staff is friendly and knows everyone's name.
