The application asked questions about our employment, housing, any fences, how we would give the dog exercise and other necessary things, our current pets and their veterinarian records, any experience that we have with this dog breed, if we have ever given up any past pet, etcetera. I spent time to write many thoughtful paragraphs of text. Two days later, the Foster Farm contacted me and said that they wanted me to adopt Olive, pending my answer about an invisible fence (which they do NOT allow). (I read other Yelpers' 1-star reviews about filling out applications and never hearing back. The Foster Farm is run by volunteers who have jobs or are in school, so they are low on time, but they should get back to you.) On that same day, they approved my application for Olive, and they scheduled my husband's and my first meet-and-greet/adoption with Olive for a few days later at our request to fit our schedule. In the meantime, the Foster Farm answered our questions via email about what size of collar and carrier to buy, what type of food to buy, etc., so we could shop in advance. They also emailed me photos of Olive. The adoption fee was $325, which was supposed to include vaccinations (DAPP and rabies), a microchip, deworming, and a future spay. Payment options were PayPal, Venmo, or a check. On December 22, a Foster Farm employee drove out to our house with Olive. She wore a face mask as a COVID-19 precaution. She allowed us to spend time with Olive on our couch, and she spent time to answer our questions before she left. I am deducting one star from my review, because the Foster Farm gave us *NO MEDICAL RECORDS.* I asked for medical records multiple times, particularly for the vaccines, and they said that they did not have them. The Foster Farm had told me that they would pay for a clinic to do Olive's rabies vaccine, which was included in the adoption fee, but the clinic for some reason did not do the rabies vaccine. With ZERO medical records for Olive other than for the spaying, I paid my veterinarian to do ALL vaccinations from scratch. The clinic did scan a microchip and give me the number at my request. In addition, the Foster Farm had told me that they had dewormed Olive, but when I took Olive to my veterinarian for a fecal test, the test came back positive for intestinal parasites, and I paid my vet to deworm Olive. Maybe the Foster Farm had dewormed the dog, but she contracted parasites again from other dogs in different foster homes or when she was adopted by another family? Olive is a very nervous dog who needs to be housetrained, but she has a very sweet personality, and she gets along with our cats (yay!). I think that the Foster Farm placed her into the right home, and their fee of $325 for a bulldog was very reasonable. For those reasons, I will award 4 stars. But I do recommend that the Foster Farm pass along vaccination records.

The veterinarians spoke very politely and thoroughly to me, and they performed accurate medical examinations and treatments for my cats. Please note that the veterinarians focus mostly on preventative care, such as wellness exams, vaccinations, non-emergency illnesses and injuries, etcetera. During my previous visits, the prices for services were very reasonable. During my most recent visit, I looked at the cats and dogs who were available for adoption. All of the employees promptly and kindly helped me to learn about the pets' personalities and health issues. They gave me a form to fill out, and then they arranged for me to meet a dog in a meeting room. I thought that the animals' cages were clean. Adoption fees were reasonable and varied based on the type and age of animal. This shelter also offers training classes for dogs. The classes are available in beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, and the trainers use positive reinforcement.

I ultimately decided to take my time, gas money, Red Barn treats, plus precious energy and donations elsewhere after @ less than half a year. My direct experiences with most Life Saving Operations staff and some compromised volunteers were rife with unfounded suspicions and remarkably outrageous catastrophic accusations in emails and in person. Much of it in my term was gaslighting actually. The levels of care for the dogs, green, yellow and blue are used to provide volunteers with status. Some volunteers take their higher status as rationale to smack down the rules and lord their superiority with newer volunteers. Staff act like ascending levels are valued as a means of power trips. Trainings for dog volunteers are not comprehensive and my questions later on to staff were not only unwelcome but suggested to staff that retraining was necessary. This is disgusting. So many potential volunteers must be lost due to this organization's focus on punishment and humiliation in communications with volunteer. I received repeated a bullying tone in feedback by staff by email and in person. My feedback was ignored or dismissed. No positive reinforcement or gratitude from the leadership of both the manager and new coordinator and this permeates the dog care area of this organization. The oddly negative human community vibe of course impacts all animals, and unfairly so, like a dysfunctional family dynamic. Rules appear to vary depending on the day and person you ask. I cannot speak for other departments. Kudos to the few longstanding volunteers all over the organization who also told me personally they have felt disrespected but persistent in showing up for the cause. I agree with the comments posted with negative interactions with staff in adoptions in the past on Yelp but also concurrent with my tenure. Questions are somehow a violation of norms!! Consider this a caution to any new direct animal care volunteers who are seeking a place to help animals thrive. This is not a genuinely warm, accepting organization. Volunteers are constantly solicited for financial support. My experience as a dog walking volunteers was horrible. A bitter taste remains from my brief interactions with Life Saving Animal Friends staff and is really disappointing especially for the dogs who are in need of compassion and stress free visits. I send great respect toward Suzanne Denk and Ray in the Welcome Center who seem to be the only emotionally mature adults on the premises.

I had a horrific experience with a woman named Nancy when seeking help for my dog. My dog is a senior and has a host of medical issues including canine cognitive dysfunction (doggie dementia), difficulty eating and drinking (due to her dementia), and anxiety and depression, just to name a few of the things she struggles with. Our vet thinks she may have a brain tumor that is making her symptoms worse and she needs an MRI to confirm that but unfortunately I can't afford it. Putting my dog to sleep has come up in conversation but she's only 7 and there are medications for canine dementia and tests (like an MRI) that could possibly help her get better that we haven't tried yet because of my poor financial situation. I don't believe I should stop fighting for my dog or euthanize her just because I have run out of funds and dont have the means to be her primary caretaker anymore. I've been looking for places that specialize in senior dog care, care for animals with disabilities, and care for animals in a vulnerable time in their life. All of this was shared in my inquiry about possibly getting help, along with that my dog means everything to me. I assume most people reading this are animal lovers and have or had a pet that is precious to them and want the best for. No one should be attacked for wanting the best for their animal and people should know thats what happens at AR. On Angel Ridge's About page it says their mission is "To provide a permanent home and care for animals that are abandoned, aged, or handicapped with the ultimate goal of re-homing them. Animals who are not re-homed may live out their lives at Angel Ridge." It goes on to say animals should be recognized as "essential and beloved companions" and further states animals are "assessed by dedicated volunteers and staff for veterinary and behavioral needs." I wrongfully thought this place could be an option to help my dog as she's a senior, special needs and would benefit from medical help. I thought this because they specifically stated they specialized in caring for those types of animals AND provided medical care for them. I was told by Nancy that my dog "has been given many opportunities to become a somewhat normal dog" ...as if its my dogs fault for being sick! This was an insane unhinged judgment to make. With 0 compassion she said my dog cannot be fixed and that she is not at peace. I would've loved to know Angel Ridge's philosophy was actually that "some dogs can't be fixed" and to blame the animal for not being "somewhat normal". I wouldn't have even bothered in the first place. I was then viscously told "You knew what needs to happen-Just looking for someone else to blame-You needed the response that I gave". No remorse, no acknowledgment of how disgusting and nasty she had been to me, just stood behind her disturbing behavior and treatment of me (a person who reached out seeking help for her dog based on misleading lies written on the website). Not sure who I'm trying to blame either. I'm looking for help and a higher level of care for my sweet dog and made that crystal clear. This person is sick and unstable and shouldn't work at a place that cares for elderly, sick, abused, and overall vulnerable animals if the first thought that crosses her mind when someone reaches out for help is that it's the animals fault for being sick, elderly, abused, etc. and they've 'had their chance to prove to be normal' implying they should be euthanized if they can't do that. Egregious. she could've simply said they couldn't take my dog instead of harassing me for searching for help. I fear for people and animals that cross paths with this woman and hope this can be used as a warning for others to STAY AWAY and not make the mistake I did by reaching out in the first place. For a place that claims all animals should be recognized as essential and beloved, I'll tell you one thing, having bitter employees/volunteers like this woman, is not getting that message across.

I have found Angel Ridge to be sincere in their efforts to save, rescue, and provide posititive futures for some of the most abused, unwanted, injured and mistreated animals. At times when I didnt see a positive outcome, the volunteers stay committed to showing love and compassion to the rescues~ most often resulting in a huge break thru, and eventually placement in a loving home~ a home ready and willing to continue the work of helping their new fur baby learn to love and trust humans. It's humans that have let the animals down, and it's Angel Ridge volunteers that repair that damage. I am proud to be a vounteer for Angel Ridge Animal Rescue and plan to continue here.
