Dave and his team did an amazing job installing our wood floors when we moved into our home five years ago so when our dishwasher leaked and our floors were damaged we were pretty bummed. After a quick call to Dave, he assured us they could patch the damaged floors and make it look as good as new. Once the water damage was cleaned and the dishwasher repaired, Dave's team arrived as soon as the floors were in to patch up the floor. They did a great job, were extremely professional and the team wore masks and kept a social distance from our family (including our 3 young kids) the whole time. They are so nice and so reliable and really have great deals!! The guys at sunshine flooring were very nice but they were way too high. And when I asked for a discount I got nothing. I also asked if he could give me the names of some wholesalers so that I could pay less. And he would not. Sunshine Flooring installed hardwood floors in a bedroom, walk-in closet, and office that had been carpeted. They seamlessly integrated the new floor with the existing hardwood in the hallway and their work is superb! As important as their craftsmanship is the process of actually installing the floors and living with the noise, dust, and disruption (we stayed in the house during the job). The men that installed the new floors could not have been more pleasant nor professional. They clean as they worked so there was minimal dust anywhere in the house, they were considerate beyond expectation so the disruption was minimal, and they were just all-around great guys. Dave and his team did an excellent job for us. His great service started with a detailed walk-through of flooring options in San Rafael at the Sunshine office. We opted to match and extend our current floors instead of replacing our floors. Sunshine was the only company able to find a match to our current floors, since we have floors with an antique width from the 1940s. Even so, they had to do a fair amount of custom work on our floors including custom ripping some of the boards to a manual width. The work was all done very well, as well as on time and on budget. OMG.. these guys were great. They were always on time, professional, SO helpful and the job they did was just amazing. I live in a older home in Sausalito. I know that the white oak floors had not been treated in ANY way in over 30 years. They were so funky that some estimates and opinions were just "re-place" , don't refinish. After a lot of research and instincts, I went with re-finish and hoped! The outcome is that I can't even beleive these are the same rotten faded awful floors. They look brand new. Sunshine Flooring refinished the oak floor in our recently purchased home, and also removed stain from a large portion of the wood. They did an incredible job and finished on time, which was a huge concern for us. David was fantastic to work with from start to finish. When he came up for the estimate, I had to make him wait for 15+ minutes and he was totally cool about it. He was very thorough during that initial visit, but was also efficient, and got the proposal over to me the same day. The proposal was detailed and included everything we had discussed, and the price was comparable to other estimates we had collected. Once work started, David kept in close contact with me throughout the process. There were a couple small issues that came up while I was out of town and he communicated with me before proceeding with anything. His team was professional and courteous to me and to my mom, who surprised them with a visit. Our floors are original to the house (built in 1959) and needed some serious love. The restored floors add so much to our home and we are very happy with the results! I worked directly with David at Sunshine Flooring. I can't say enough good things about him or the final product. First off, I was a terrible, terrible customer. I changed my mind a few times and once after the wood was delivered. There was a mix up in timing (not his fault) and his crew came the same day at the sheet rockers. Basically he rolled with everything calmly that came his way, was always helpful and available when I needed him. Sunshine refinished my vintage 1960's maple floor. It now looks truly beautiful. The crew worked diligently all day, every day, to get it done in the least possible time, and they paid attention to many details -- scratches, gouges, nail heads, etc. They were neat and clean and there was no damage at all to my house. They sealed off the kitchen and when they were done there was very little dust. David, the owner, was prompt at responding to my request for a proposal and scheduling the work. He was very honest and straightforward about what to expect -- it is a big, disruptive job, there is no doubt about it! But worth the disruption. read more

What a difference a floor makes! Sunshine Flooring just revived the very sad old floor in my new (old) house. After decades of renters and not-so-benign neglect, the floor was in really bad shape. We're talking the full gamut of damage: deep scratches, sun damage, mismatched replacement boards, burn marks, badly-cut repair patches, and a partial (badly done) stain by a previous tenant on half of one room. Dave came through the house and gave me a thoughtful and realistic assessment, and promptly provided a detailed quote. He gave me lots of information and options, and was really helpful in explaining the differences. When I wasn't sure about the color of the stain I wanted, he had the crew do several patches of options so I see them in the right light. (In addition, the guys custom-created a matching threshold where I have an unusual floor height difference between rooms. It wasn't free, but it was totally worth it - beautifully done.) The job took a few days longer than planned, which was due mostly to weather. But other than that little glitch, I have to say everything went swimmingly. And, most importantly, the end result is FANTASTIC. The floor is just gorgeous, and really changes the entire look of the house. I would absolutely use Sunshine Flooring again. read more

Once decision was made he quickly ordered materials and scheduled the installation even though we were in the holiday week. He was clear and frequent in communicating status of the project. Workers were good communicators each day explaining next day's planned work. There was a small problem on the last full day of work, moving the refrigerator back scratched the new floor and they immediately redid the damaged section. I'm never doing business with these guys. Put a deposit down but our plans changed so we asked for our deposit back. No material was ever ordered and no work performed. Had to ask for my deposit back 3 times over the course of 3 weeks, and when it came these guys took out $250 in "administrative fees." So I basically paid $250 to have them write me a check for my money back. If that's how much they charge just to write a check, can't imagine what happens if they have to do actual work. read more

We have refinished oak floors in our upstairs that are nearly 40 years old. Downstairs had always been carpeted, but we decided to consider putting oak downstairs too. After visiting the showroom where we saw a sample white oak floor with a dark inlay, we decided to go with that. There were some challenges on the stairs going downstairs because the stairs were not all the same width - minimal differences but still it had to be worked out. Dave and the crew handled everything, were there when they said they would be and completed the job to more than our satisfaction. If anything, Dave is harder to please than his customers. We were out of town when they finished the floor & after looking at it, he decided he wanted to put another coat of finish on it because it would look better. They did that and did not charge us any more for it. When does that ever happen? The floor looks terrific. We had our 55 year old red oak floor refinished before moving into our house in Greenbrae and cannot be happier with the result. The house has its original wood floor from 1961 that had decades of wear & tear- pet stains, staple marks and scratches, really showing its age.
