What was advertised and the RV that we received were far from the truth. Actually it was disgusting. Clean but totally worn out. Misguided by their photos. Never again. The amenities were good but it was impossible to contact anyone at the office by phone. All and all we were mislead and very disappointed. No thanks.

Great facility! We spent a weekend here with friends and it was paradise. The RV resort is equipped with the best amenities -- private beach, lounge chairs, and the best bathrooms ever. Seriously, I was so impressed with how clean the bathrooms were at all times. The place is clean, and management is strict with visitors, which we loved as we felt very safe. The location is unbeatable. For the time we were there, we felt at home. The whole resort was magical.

I booked online despite some of the bad reviews. Upon arrival the office staff wasn't super friendly, but hey who wants to work inside in the Keys! We had a premium breach front site and it was absolutely spectacular!! We kayaked around the island and it was beautiful! The staff would be out on the beach every morning to make certain everything was nice for the guests. What more do you need but a beach out your back door, pool and laundry mat?! We will definitely return

Ask the Community - Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina

Is it hard to book a site 60 days out for fen of January ? Or are they booked up solid?

My guess is you would probably need to book further in advance. Every year things seem to get busier for the period of the winter you're looking for.

That's not 5 star when information is given disrespectfully. Your staff needs new training. But if you're that booked with other people that tolerate it because you are expensive because of those side outdoors living areas. I just you can treat people badly when they are just calling you for information and pricing. If you don't want to deal with questions maybe improve your website so we don't have to call with questions.

The lot was big enough for our 30ft motorhome. We had our own private tiki hut, porch over the canal, fans, outside tv, and lots of privacy. Very dog friendly. Clean park. Only cons was each site is privately owned. Some owners take better care of their site than others. We were at canal site 3. Our lawn chair was broken, only 9 lights in the tiki hut actually lit up ( we still had enough light), and the solar lights on the dock were broke (no biggy). We still had a blast and can't wait to go back. They have a small pool at the end of the park which is not busy at all and perfect for a quick cool down. From our spot we saw many fish, string ray, two nurse sharks, and a seahorse. This truly is a paradise R.V. park and I highly recommend it.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This rating is not because of the facilities or the campground…read moreitself--it is entirely because of the way this situation was handled and the way my family was treated by the management. After nearly four years of visiting Jolly Roger RV Resort in Marathon and spending much of our summers there, I never imagined our experience would end this way. We truly loved this place. Our daughters grew up coming here, made great friends, and created wonderful memories. That is exactly why the way we were treated by the management was so disappointing. After the incident, our conversation regarding our permanent removal from the resort was handled directly by the park manager, Angie. Unfortunately, that conversation left us feeling unheard, unfairly judged, and with the impression that no consideration was given to our years as respectful, responsible guests. During the Fourth of July weekend, when the campground was extremely busy, several children were playing at the dock. As they had done during previous summers, some of them were jumping from the boat ramp into the water. I was the only parent present supervising the children who were with me. An employee came by and asked for the lot numbers of the families there. I was the only person who honestly and responsibly provided our lot number. The following day, I received a phone call from the park manager informing us that we had been permanently banned from the RV park. What hurt the most was not the decision itself, but the way the entire situation was handled. We were never given a meaningful opportunity to explain our side of the story, nor did anyone consider that, throughout all the years we had been coming here, we had never had a single complaint or incident. In addition, we were held responsible for situations that did not involve our family and that, from our perspective, were simply not true. It felt as though decisions were made based on assumptions rather than a fair evaluation of the facts or our long history as respectful guests. I was also surprised that there were no clear signs stating that children were not allowed to jump from that area. The posted signs referred to swimming at your own risk and under adult supervision, so we had no reason to believe that this behavior would result in a permanent ban. The saddest part was feeling as though we were treated like troublemakers or criminals when we have always been a respectful, responsible family that has taken care of both our children and the property. I can only speak about our own experience, but it ended with tremendous disappointment. More than the decision itself, it was the lack of empathy, respect, and willingness to listen that caused us to completely lose confidence in the management. We left heartbroken, especially for our daughters, who loved this place and were looking forward to spending the rest of the summer there. It is unfortunate that so many years of wonderful memories ended because of a situation that, in our opinion, could have been handled with communication, fairness, and basic respect. I sincerely hope the management reflects on how they treat families and handle situations like this. A great RV park is defined not only by its facilities, but also by the fairness, professionalism, and humanity with which it treats its guests.

There are 3 beach areas, a campground/cabins, picnic areas and boat ramps. It's very much a place to relax on the beach and take it easy. Bahia Honda is the tropical paradise that you probably imagine when you think of the Florida Keys. Bahia Honda's beaches--Sandspur, Loggerhead, and Calusa--are one of the biggest draws to the park. Each one is beautiful and worth a visit. Bahia Honda is a great place to swim as the water temperatures are typically warm and the water is shallow. See, it also depends on time of the year, like for us, Sandspur beach was full of seaweed. and i found loggerhead beach to shallow and it was really great to swim over there. while you are here, A fun thing to do is take the quick trail up to the old Bahia Honda Bridge that you can see from Calusa Beach and the very edge of Loggerhead Beach. This is the only trail here and it's a pretty quick walk. The walk is fairly short and you aren't allowed to go far along the bridge as it breaks off at some point. However, you do get to go up high enough to see Bahia Honda from above. The bridge has a great view of both of the beaches. Depending on time of day, you might get a different view. There is little to no shade on the beach. If you are wanting to stay all day, you might want to bring your own umbrella for the beach! Cost: $8 per vehicle, $4.50 for vehicles with one person, $2.50 for pedestrians + cyclists

Bahia Honda means "Deep Bay" and refers to the deep bays of Bahia Honda Key. It is pronounced Bah -EE-ah Own da. It is 30 feet deep which makes it the deepest natural harbors in the Keys. It was established in 1961and is known for its history as part of Henry Flagler's "Overseas Railroad" and is now known as the Overseas Highway. In 1935 there was a huge hurricane that destroyed the railroad. What makes this park so unique is that it is encompasses an offshore island and it sits between Ohio Key and Spanish Harbor Key close to the west end of the Seven Mile Bridge. The park has 524 acres of lush beauty. It is open everyday of the year from 8am - sundown and the fee is $8 per vehicle. Clean restrooms and outdoor showers available. There is so many things to do such as snorkeling, swimming in the gin clear crystal waters, hiking out to the Old Bahia Bridge, birding, camping, boat rentals, a concession stand, rent a cabin, kayak, fishing or visit the nature center. We found parking easily and made our way out on the trail to the Old Bridge. The views from up here are panoramic. After viewing the bridge and the views, we really could not resist taking a dip at one of the beaches. The water was still warm enough to swim in November and it felt fantastic. What I love most about the state park beaches along the Keys are all the marine life you can view while swimming or just walking on the beach. No place like it! If I could give this park 10 stars I would, it is that incredible. Cannot wait to come back again.
