There are 3 beach areas, a campground/cabins, picnic areas and boat ramps. It's very much a place to relax on the beach and take it easy. Bahia Honda is the tropical paradise that you probably imagine when you think of the Florida Keys. Bahia Honda's beaches--Sandspur, Loggerhead, and Calusa--are one of the biggest draws to the park. Each one is beautiful and worth a visit. Bahia Honda is a great place to swim as the water temperatures are typically warm and the water is shallow. See, it also depends on time of the year, like for us, Sandspur beach was full of seaweed. and i found loggerhead beach to shallow and it was really great to swim over there. while you are here, A fun thing to do is take the quick trail up to the old Bahia Honda Bridge that you can see from Calusa Beach and the very edge of Loggerhead Beach. This is the only trail here and it's a pretty quick walk. The walk is fairly short and you aren't allowed to go far along the bridge as it breaks off at some point. However, you do get to go up high enough to see Bahia Honda from above. The bridge has a great view of both of the beaches. Depending on time of day, you might get a different view. There is little to no shade on the beach. If you are wanting to stay all day, you might want to bring your own umbrella for the beach! Cost: $8 per vehicle, $4.50 for vehicles with one person, $2.50 for pedestrians + cyclists

Bahia Honda means "Deep Bay" and refers to the deep bays of Bahia Honda Key. It is pronounced Bah -EE-ah Own da. It is 30 feet deep which makes it the deepest natural harbors in the Keys. It was established in 1961and is known for its history as part of Henry Flagler's "Overseas Railroad" and is now known as the Overseas Highway. In 1935 there was a huge hurricane that destroyed the railroad. What makes this park so unique is that it is encompasses an offshore island and it sits between Ohio Key and Spanish Harbor Key close to the west end of the Seven Mile Bridge. The park has 524 acres of lush beauty. It is open everyday of the year from 8am - sundown and the fee is $8 per vehicle. Clean restrooms and outdoor showers available. There is so many things to do such as snorkeling, swimming in the gin clear crystal waters, hiking out to the Old Bahia Bridge, birding, camping, boat rentals, a concession stand, rent a cabin, kayak, fishing or visit the nature center. We found parking easily and made our way out on the trail to the Old Bridge. The views from up here are panoramic. After viewing the bridge and the views, we really could not resist taking a dip at one of the beaches. The water was still warm enough to swim in November and it felt fantastic. What I love most about the state park beaches along the Keys are all the marine life you can view while swimming or just walking on the beach. No place like it! If I could give this park 10 stars I would, it is that incredible. Cannot wait to come back again.

We…read morehad a waterfront site booked, and based on the front desk's recommendation, switched to a different waterfront site that was easier to back into (we have a 40' motorhome), which was appreciated. We were escorted to our site, and literally were parked steps from the water. We enjoyed hanging out in the water immediately, and also loved all the wildlife present everywhere on the campground, including an iguana who liked to bask in the tree right next to our RV, numerous pelicans and herons (or egrets? I never know the difference), schools of thousands of little fish, and more. I loved swimming in the area off the swimming dock. The water was cool and refreshing in the heat. Every day, I marveled at the beauty of this place. The clouds and sky looked like cotton candy at dusk. Sunsets were magical. Bahia Honda State Park is only 5 minutes away. I almost didn't go, because this campground was so nice, but fortunately, we went, and of course, that was breathtaking as well. We have starlink so I didn't have internet issues, and we didn't use the marina services, so can't speak to that.

I've been trying to call to find out if they will have boat parking. I've called the marina once and the front office twice and left voicemail messages. I've not received a call back. my other issue is that no-one told me the marina would be under construction before I paid over 4,000 dollars for my spot.

Sea Camp! I'm not sure I can put into words how happy I am…read morethat both of my children got to experience Sea Camp this summer. (My Daughter is 15 and Son is 13). They came home absolutely bursting with stories. So many that I'm pretty sure I heard "Mom, you will never believe what we did!" at least 100 times. They talked about the people they met, the specifics of sailing, snorkeling, biology and a million other things. We hope we can make Sea Camp part of our summer plans in the coming years because both kids have made it very clear that they absolutely, positively want to go back next summer! Fun! As a mom, one of my favorite things was seeing how much this experience sparked their curiosity. They came home with a new appreciation for the ocean and the Florida Keys, but also with memories, friendships, and stories that I know they'll be talking about for a long time. We live in Massachusetts, so this adventure took some planning and commitment. Sea Camp thinks of everything and is wonderful to work with. So if you are reading this, don't let the distance keep you away from this experience if you can... You kids will love it! It was worth every ounce of planning! The back basin was…read morefilled with weeds (motor killing, clogging type weeds), $45 fee to check in before 4:00 even though the room was ready when we arrived at 2:00(we have been coming here since 2020 & this was never issue, now it is & without any notification) plus they charged my credit card at 9:30 in the morning so technically we were already checked in but were denied access, WiFi did not work all week even though we were told it would be fixed within a day or two, sand spurs everywhere, & kitchen was lacking necessary cooking items. AC, toilet & hot water worked sporadically. To top everything off, my husband stepped on a board in the parking lot with a screw sticking up which went through his shoe & into his foot! Made for a frustrating vacation. The only saving grace was Jimmy, who is always willing to help wherever & whenever he can. But Jimmy told us he is retiring. Now nothing will be working properly.

You would give the office the money, they would give you a bag of ice from the machine. Guests were not allowed access, only office staff. So much poor maintenance all over the place also.

I remember when it had no parking (limited to parking on Old State Road 4A), and nowadays it has a parking lot and it's landscaped and it's pretty clean. We were also told there would be a dryer and washer, nope. The least they could do is at least get different TV mounts because it was an absolute pain to connect anything to the HDMI port. The sites are narrow, and the space between sites is minimal. If this park is ever full, there will be many who will not be able to have their awnings out and possibly even their slide out opened. Most sites are very difficult to pull into or back down because of how unforgiving and tight the park was designed . Lack of staff means the floating picnic canopies are deflating and green. Their pool is/was completely unusable and green. Their bathroom floors were thick with dirt. They had multiple turnovers in management and staffing. Come prepared for these inconveniences and you will enjoy being so close to Key West. It's also a telling sign is that they constantly encourage you to go next-door to the KOA for laundry, the pool, the pub, and the beach. KOA is clearly a good neighbor.
