    Pistachio latte--served so elegantly
    Stacey G.

I'm already a big fan of Sunshine Spice lattes (especially pistachio) and their gorgeous baked goods. But I tried their savory dumplings for the first time. Wow! So good! Flavorful but mild spices. Next time...noodle soup!

This cute Afghani bakery is in Downtown Boise, just waiting for you to pop in and try it. It's small, but there's big flavor in there! Their sweets are not only beautiful, but tasty, and the staff is friendly and eagerly ready to give you some great recommendations on what to try first. Oh, and don't forget about the coffee! Coffee and pastries go hand in hand. I had a saffron latte, which was so different and delicious. We also tried a few of their cookies, the Baklava, and one of their heavenly tarts. We couldn't settle for just that, so we packed up some more treats and took them home with us! Highly recommended. I love old favorites, but it's so much more fun to try new things. Give them a try.

First time visit this place. Everything looks so beautiful, but the prices are ridiculous!!!! For all this 3 sweets, medium coffee and organice juice we paid $30!!!!!! And that cake wasn't good, too buttery and fat, I had horrible stomach reactions after. I order latte, but came too sweet, which is supposed to be not sweet at all. Boise having much better cafe for better price and quality food.

The food, the service the people absolutely go here, I always get the dumplings and they're amazing... The people are kind and maybe their bathroom isn't so so clean, but I totally want to support this small business. Also, if you have a minute, try their pistachio bread it's mmmmmmm

Decided to stop by for some pastries from a cute little hidden afghan bakery . They have a wide selection of drinks ( hot and cold ) & a variety of fresh made pastries ! Service was fast and pastries were really good ! Support local shops !

Cute little coffee and patisserie spot. Only giving four starts, cause they were out of some items when we got there.

This place is a hidden gem! This is my second time stopping in and they do not disappoint!!! Excellent coffee, the Avocado toast is my favorite! I tried the orange pistachio cake and it was delicious not too sweet and you could taste the orange flavor was amazing but not overpowering, just the right combination. The service was excellent. It's definitely a must visit!

A huge thank you to the local Yelp Community in Boise for leading me to this absolute gem. Nestled in an unsuspecting strip mall on Fairview, Sunshine Spice Bakery & Cafe, is serving up straight up deliciousness in a crisp, bright, and welcoming environment. In a recent trip to Boise, I came across this spot and always and ever wanting to try all the coffee in any town I visit, we stopped by. I ordered their avocado toast with two eggs and their pumpkin spiced latte. The avocado toast was served on an ample slice of afghani bread (which is light and airy and utterly delicious). The eggs were well seasoned and it came with seasoned tomatoes. Honestly, I'll be dreaming of the deliciousness and make a stop here an absolute priority on my next trip. The coffee was good. It's definitely a sipping sort of beverage and not at all sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but if you're a sweet coffee drinker, this may not be for you. The service was friendly and efficient. The prices were a bit high ($50ish dollars for an order of two avo toast and two espresso beverages after tip). But--worth it. Get to it!

    Pistachio latte and pistachio baklava

Haven't had a pistachio latte in so long (no more Starbucks for me) and this is far superior than any chain latte. The baklava was also so fresh and delicious.

Super interesting flavors! Loved the pastries and coffee! Nothing was overly sweet which is always a plus. I got the pistachio latte and my husband got the cinnamon latte. Both were good and have a very strong coffee flavor which we love. We also got the avocado toast, which was delicious. I don't really order avocado toast from cafes or restaurants because it's too basic to spend so much money on. Even though this one is on the pricey side, putting the avocado on Afghan bread (similar to focaccia) makes it interesting enough to try, and we're glad we did! If you order it with egg, just know it has a bit of spice and kick to it but nothing too crazy. Will definitely come back here to try other lattes and pastries.

I had an event going on in Boise and knew I would not make it to town in time to go to our regular bakery so I called ahead to Sunshine Bakery. I asked her to hold 2 raspberry desserts and 2 Opera cakes for us. When we got there we added items on. This was supposed to be for my husband and my 38th anniversary with a couple of friends. When it came time to have desserts I was so upset and appalled and how terrible these were. The opera cakes were old and very dry. What we thought was chocolate on the top was some kind of rubbery stuff. The raspberries on the tarts were soft and mushy. I will NEVER go there again. Or even recommend them. If you're going to sell old stuff let your customers know and learn how to make these pastries. A waste of $50.

This food is absolutely amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who likes pastries. They also have AMAZING dumplings that I miss. The place was clean and peaceful and the service was kind and fast.

This is my second time at Sunshine Spice and it was just as lovely as my first visit. I spent about $15 (including a tip) on a pistachio latte, pistachio baklava and a hazelnut pastry. I was very happy with everything I ordered. The baklava had the perfect crispness while also still being moist. The pistachio latte is just Devine. It's not too strong in flavor and comes in the cutest cup with a beautiful spoon if you get it for there, I'm all about the small details so I love their consistency in presentation. The ladies who run this bakery are so so sweet, and took wonderful care of my friend and I. They have tables as well as a small bar to sit at inside, it's clean and organized and easy to figure out what they have to offer.

Luckily I was there that day and was able to snag a chocolate bar. I remember it being so good! I thought today was a good day for a sweet treat so I made my way in! My husband's request was an apple fritter if they had any. I came in later in the afternoon and surprisingly there were still quite a few donuts available. I was happy that there was quite a selection still. They all looked so good! Even the classic glazed looked tasty. After looking over the goodies, I decided on a half dozen of mixed donuts. The sweet lady behind the counter was so patient with me as I was looking and second guessing my choices. With the mixed variety you get 3 classic, 2 specialty and 1 extra fancy donut. I snagged a round glazed, a chocolate and maple bar, 2 apple fritters and a fancy donut with cream and strawberries on top. I was planning on giving 3 of the goodies to my in laws. I asked the sweet lady for an extra box and with no hesitation she grabbed it got me. I was able to get my goodies sorted. I dropped off the maple bar, an apple fritter and the cream and strawberry donut to my in laws. My father in law loves apple fritters and didn't hesitate to grab it from the box and claim it right away. 0 He enjoyed half of it and is saving the other half for later. Nothing but great things were said about his treat. I forgot to mention earlier that the sweet lady gave me two donut holes in my box. I snacked on those and mannnnn were they good! They were so soft and sweet. I just wanted a little something so it was perfect! My husband devoured his apple fritter. I didn't even get a bite! I'm happy he enjoyed it! I was recently at Krispy Kreme and honestly the donut I got tasted stale. Like it had been sitting out for more than a day. I only had 2 small donut holes and they blew Krispy Kreme out of the water, it was night and day. I'm happy I got to stop in today and grab some goodies. The donuts were amazing! The service was great! And I got to support a local business in my area! I look forward to coming back and grabbing more treats for my family/friends sometime soon.

I have driven by this shop a million times but never got the chance to make it in. After checking out all their photos and goodies off their website, making my way in today was a must. The shop is very small and intimate. You are immediately greeted by all the goodies as soon as you walk in. Colorful macarons, the cutest cheesecakes and beautifully displayed scones and muffins. The display case is nice and bright, allowing you to be able to see the details and coloring of each macaron. The pretty piping on the cheesecake. The fun layers of the cakes. It was hard not to want one of each thing out of the case. It was our first visit for my daughter and I. As a new customer, you're trying to absorb everything about this store. You want to look at all your options! The gal that initially was going to help us pretty much just stood there and stared at us. Didn't really talk to us. Didn't ask if we had any questions. She had the most unpleasant look on her face. It honestly made me feel so unwanted and uncomfortable to be at the shop. I offered to let another customer go ahead of us so she wasn't just standing there waiting for us to order something. The second customer also needed some time. Finally a gentleman came in and she got him some coffee started. Another gal was working and she helped us. At that point, I was so turned off about getting anything but we were already there so we decided to grab a few things. My daughter and I decided to share a 6 pack of macarons. We snagged lemon, birthday cake, coffee, chocolate, creme brulee and cookies and cream as our flavor choices. She also got a red velvet cheesecake for us to share after dinner tonight. On our ride home, we broke that box of macarons open and had to try them all. The lemon was sweet and tangy, I love the lemon custard in the middle. Birthday cake reminds me of a pink frosted animal cookie. The chocolate was my favorite! Very chocolate forward and sweet. Coffee reminded me of a vanilla latte in cookie form. Cookies and cream was much like cookies and cream ice cream. More cream forward and less chocolate cookie. Creme brulee had sugar toasted on top which created a slight bitterness to the cookie but it was balanced with how sweet the cookie was. All 6 macarons were fabulous! I look forward to having the red velvet cheesecake after dinner tonight. I like that there are so many gluten free options at this bakery. I adore how petite and prettily decorated the pastries were. I appreciate that this joint is local as I love supporting local businesses. But, first impressions are so huge for me and my first impression of their customer service wasn't there for me. You can push out great products all you want but how you make someone feel during their purchase can make or break your business. As fantastic as my macarons were, all I can think about was how uncomfortable I was when I was just being stared at. Macarons and cheesecake can be purchased at a few joints in our valley. I'm happy I got to enjoy some goodies with my daughter but I'm going to go support another local business that will actually make me feel like a valued customer and not a bother.

But Boise Pie Company pies in limited options are now available to order through Farm Deliver (the aggregator for local food hub that takes orders for local farmer and producers and delivers their good things to homes on Wednesday afternoons) so I had a Peach Huckleberry pie in the delivery yesterday afternoon. The crust on this pie was so delicious, in fact much better than my memory of Boise Pie Co. pies being ever. I wonder if the new owner changed the crust recipe? I often leave the crust on a piece of pie, but on this one I ate every crumb. Every holiday I try to find a local producer food item to gift to neighbors. Something that doesn't need to be eaten right away but can be saved and used at any time during holidays or after. I know Boise Pie Co is now providing frozen take and bake Huckleberry pies. I liked the boozy flavors more but that was only because of the flavors offered - the vegan ice cream itself was great, very smooth and creamy, not overly sugary. I got the float season vegan ice cream: blackberry ice cream with salted dark chocolate. I did still enjoy this flavor a lot. I really liked the crunchy bittersweet dark chocolate bits. I didn't get anything to drink but I was kind of tempted. The ice cream + beer or wine flights looked interesting. Kate's cheesecakes became a family favorite and in time, others began to hear about them. In January 2018, Kate opened Say Cheez Cake, a Boise-based cheesecake delivery service that delivers in the Treasure Valley, Magic Valley, Pocatello and Utah. Kate offers a constantly expanding list of flavors that come in five different sizes: bite-size, minis, slices, 4" personal cakes and 9" cakes. Every week, slices ($7) are available in three different flavors. Gluten free, ketogenic and vegan options are available upon request. I tend to be a traditionalist when it comes to cheesecake. I prefer classic cheesecake, or if I'm feeling wild and crazy, cherry cheesecake. Places like The Cheesecake Factory are of no interest to me. First, I have no interest in ordering dessert at a place that doesn't make them in the house. Second, most of the flavored cheesecakes seem to be made by people that don't enjoy cheesecake. How else do you explain the glut of cheesecake shaped desserts with so many mix-ins that they no longer bear any resemblance to cheesecake flavor-wise? On 11/1/20, I ordered a slice of Dutch Chocolate with Chocolate Ganache ($7) that was scheduled to be delivered the evening of 11/3/20. I was busy working and completely forgot about the cheesecake delivery so ignored the doorbell, assuming it was a solicitor. A short time later, I received an email informing me that my cheesecake had been delivered to my doorstep. I openedthe door and found a beautiful orange bag with Kate's logo on it. The bag was heavier expected. Imagine my surprise when I opened the bag and found a business card thanking me for my business that had a handwritten note, "Biscoff on me! Thank you." Beneath the slice of Dutch Chocolate cheesecake was a slice of Biscoff Cookie cheesecake!!! Kate's cheesecakes are so good that they have caused me to re-examine my assumptions about flavored cheesecakes. Turns out, I'm not a traditionalist after all Until now, I just never had a great flavored cheesecake. Everything about Kate's cheesecakes is perfection. Not only do they look beautiful, but the texture and flavors are remarkable. I also appreciated that neither of the cheesecakes was overly sweet. I look forward to trying many more of Kate's wonderful cheesecake flavors. With the holidays just around the corner, it's the perfect time for you to try them too.
