Still fun the second time around…read more My first time to kayak with these guys was 3 years ago. On that excursion, I was fortunate enough to have an encounter with 2 dolphin. Alas, this year, what with Hurricane Sally and all, I did not see my finned friends again. Tony told me that the area lost at least 800 boats when Hurricane Sally came through. Sad. However, I still had a great time. Tony and Tem took great care of getting me rigged up. I paddled all the way back to the main part of the bay near the bridge and spent time exploring several of the islands. Last time, I turned back once I made it to the big island. This year, I made it all the way around the island and then some. There was a strong East wind the day I set out, so the first part of the journey was a bit more of a challenge, but I was ready for it. Fortunately, the trip back was a bit easier with the wind at my back. Still, I fought quite a headwind rounding the Northern tip of the Big Island that day. Thankfully, that same East wind made the rest of the trip easier since it helped me along heading back to Paddled By You. If you enjoy being out on the water, and like the exercise, you need to check these guys out. Good service. Good equipment, and as good of time as you want to have. Oh, and they have kayaks for 1, 2, or every 3 people. That comes in handy when you have a good deal of paddling to do. One last TIP - Sunscreen. Be sure to put Sunscreen on whatever part you don't want to get burned, even on a cloudy day. I also took a larger hat than last time, and was darn glad I did. Now it's your turn. Get out there and get some exercise and have a blast. Maybe you'll even see some dolphins like I did.

It's a lovely path down to the bay and we got to see some beautiful wildlife. There were lots of vegetation to see, fish and birds, the train, other boats and barges, as well as the beautiful homes along the bayou. Rental fees were reasonable and he can even deliver equipment for use elsewhere in the area or you can pick up equipment yourself. Life jackets and whistle were no additional charge.

I did receive a couple of different text messages about the start time, which caused a little confusion on my end, but the crew communicated well and kindly waited for us before departing. Parking was free and available immediately by the dock area, but notes this will likely not be the case during peak tourist season. The tour itself was lovely. We had beautiful weather, and the crew was attentive and knowledgeable, sharing interesting history and stories about the bay throughout the ride. We saw dolphins and were able to capture plenty of videos and photos. This would be an especially beautiful tour to take in the evening to enjoy the sunset.
