Veggies for both or omelet and hash brown bowl were cooked on the grill to add some char, for a little extra flavor. Although their bread is not homemade, if you didn't ask, you wouldn't know. Quality addition for the customer. They have fresh baked goods available in the restaurant. They also have baked good options in the store. The blueberry sweet rolls are worth it. read more

Found this place driving to the lake. Service with a smile, great attitudes. I got the chicken fried steak and thought it was just good, but the beans were incredible, great flavor, thick sauce. Oh, and on the way out, look out there are trays of cinnamon buns, some glazed, and with salted caramel topping. Just evil!!! Yup we bought a tray. read more

Me and my little girls went there yesterday to have lunch. It was awful. The odors were wrong and it took forever. There were only two people working there. A teenage girl in a gray haired man was the cook.. he was so lazy and she was just young and incompetent. food was walked to the front to tell the little girl that order was ready. It took her forever to bring my friends food out while me and my little girls sit there waiting on ours. I finally got up and went to the kitchen and looked at the gray haired man that had at all and said is that mine can I just get it and he just looked at me so I walked and got my own burger off the counter from the kitchen. This was a $16 cheeseburger and it was overcooked. The bun was was $45 for two burgers mine which would be fine if it was good and the service was decent, but it was just plain horrible I would never recommend this place. read more

Great little country mom and pop stop with homemade pies. It is in an old gas station but is new on the side. They have homemade fries and nice sized Blt's. The catfish meal is highly recommend and flavorful. Only thing I would pass on is the free water. They keep in in a pitcher in a small fridge. It is nice and cold but it took on the refrigerator's flavor a touch. The waitress, hostess, and cook were all very friendly. Lots of locals came pouring in. The omelette was pack d with sausage and cheese. Prices are decent and it was clean. read more

This is the perfect little spot to grab a meal as I head into town. I normally have breakfast and it's just so good. I don't eat eggs so it's usually the ridiculously good biscuits and gravy or this hash brown surprise yummy goodness they make and I can never finish because it's too much. If you stop in I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

Drive yourself to the alma mater of Fatboy Slim at Lake Hamilton High School. Turn north on Sunshine Road for three miles. Stop. Go in. Eat breakfast, lunch and supper. Thursday nights are pan fried chicken nights. Friday they do catfish and on Saturday's big Hugh cooks hand cut sirloin. It's the shiznit (is that still a thing?). Anyway. Sunshine store is manned by the owners and usually there is some sort of floor show that just happens. Down home cooking and down home folks. Shame on you if you pass up the opportunity to eat at a landmark smack dab in the middle of Sunshine! They always give Feebi cheese too. read more

Visited the Hot Springs area and this place was recommended. When I tell you this place has some GOOD fried fish, BELIEVE me it's good better yet it great! I live in New Orleans and I've had plenty fried fish and I'm very particular and usually don't order fried fish ever because it just isn't fried right. Here at Sunshine it's done all the way right! I ate there twice and would've eaten it more had I stayed longer. I'd come back this way just for Sunshine store and Cafe. The burgers are great as well and so are the handmade candles they sell. The candles they sell are way better than those candles people stand in line for at BBW. read more

On the road to Lake Ouachita, we found this groovy little café in the middle of nowhere. The special for the day was Hamburger Steak and golly gee, was it delicious! We also ordered some fried mushrooms that were specially made just for us. Actually, we were the only ones in the café and store but I guarantee that's not the case at breakfast and dinner. Fresh food and well prepared in a super cozy and friendly mom and pop arrangement. read more

Owned and run by outstanding cook Hugh and the indefatigable Jody, the place has outstanding specials for any meal of the day: excellent burgers and ribeyes; the catfish is to die for. Breakfasts are outstanding. In addition, the store is well stocked with sundries that one might need at an inopportune time. The store is very supportive of community projects and activities (Halloween there is an annual hoot!) and often has live music. What a local store of this type ought to be! read more
