I called Designer Exchange and asked for appointment to consign, I was informed it was the next Monday. I called on that date and was told it would be the following Monday. I called on that Monday and they said, we filled all the appointment times on Saturday. I requested for appointment time as my items were few in number and it would not take much of their time since they failed to give accurate information to a new client. Their response was we have a store across town, they have availability. I don't recommend this shop to anyone. read more

This consigner does business dishonestly--in my opinion, after the purchase I attempted to make. I committed to purchase a sterling necklace for $269 and when I got up to pay for the item, the manager informed me it was priced incorrectly and that the price would be $699!!!!! I'm not kidding!!! To my dismay after the manager calling the owner, the price stayed firm at $699. They also told me it was a "one of a kind" piece and only sold exclusively. I found this maker all over Etsy and eBay with repetitive designs for $99 and up as well as for sale is various department stores. Don't be fooled; I feel so ripped off. We came here last year with a large amount of new and like new clothing, most of it was my mothers. After months, literally months! She never received a check in the mail, she heard every excuse from Covid to vacations to having less people working in the store, which none of the excuses had a darn thing to do with cutting a check! They owed her only $60 and it ended up taking nearly a year to get paid. Things got so bad that we had to contact the Better Business Bureau and they stepped in, made a phone call to this business and demanded our money. All of this nonsense was over $60 bucks, why? If it was $60K, I can understand the unwillingness to pay, but $60 bucks? I'm not sure if they were hard up for money or what was really happening, they also donated a few things that they "claim" never sold, and we did not give permission for any of the items to be donated, we're certain they sold them and claimed to have donated items, there is no way to prove what they sold and what they donated, we weren't there to witness. Obviously we will never go back. You do a heck of a lot better selling items on eBay, sell it online, ship it to the buyer and immediately get paid. read more

The Designer Exchange really seems more suited to an older (50+) clientele, but they do have a good selection for the amount of space they have and the area in which they do business. I saw a couple of pieces from Armani, Versace, Prada, etc, but they probably had more pieces from Chico's than anything else. The higher end items tended just a bit towards the flashy/tacky side - but that is what would generally sell in the Tampa Bay Area. The prices were generally good, and they also had a number of sales racks. I will stop by again since I did see some good quality basics here and there; but only one or two items really stood out in the evening and formal wear sections as the overall feel there was shiny and conservative. To sum up: it's worth a visit for those who enjoy consignment shopping, although I cannot speak on the actual consignment process itself. read more

This is my FAVORITE STORE OF ALL TIME. What store can you go to and have ALL the high-to high mid end designers around you for absolute steals!!! The store is lovely, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the prices/variety/versatility are fabulous. Came here shopping while visiting my sister whom lives on Treasure Island. Always changing, something new every day (as they say), this is why I visit often. Great personal service, everyone at the store are always very friendly, very knowlegable and very helpful. I became a VIP, (make sure to ask about this new program and you will get a 20% coupon for your next purchase) and I am informed of all the great sales via text. So, I went there with my fabulous coach and Fendi goods.They were put behind the glass case and on display because i have great stuff! It was my first time consigning. They went through the rules. Sounds good. I was delayed on a great vacation but had my due date to retrieve my goods on 8/24/15. In fact its still on my computer front and center. I called from Canada and the lady said sure no problem! I will write in "the notebook" that you called. Just come on in when you return. I get there and my goods have been "donated"! Which in short means I made no money and my beautiful unused designer goods are gone!!! I was pissed off! Im still pissed off!! No money was givin to me and i guess the "notebook" had none of the notes about my call! Really? Come on!! This place is a complete rip off!!! Ps. Every lady who was there the day to consign was elderly including the staff (no offense just a fact). My stuff is new and trendy, not suited for this place. Never again will I be robbed. *In response to the owners comment: My Coach Shoes were NOT damaged! That is a complete lie! You know that you do not take damaged items! They began new "fixed price" system. VERY POOR decision since their prices are NOT competitive. I can shop sales and get comparable goods etc. This business will NOT last.. They need to adopt a more realistic mentality. AND I took some goods that were authentic and they had labeled it "faux". BIG mistake. Now their credibility is shot also. There are two locations, and if you buy something in one location, you receive 10% off at the other on the same day. They also give that discount if you check in on Facebook, consign there or shop on a certain day (I can't remember which day it is, so check). Both stores are stocked with good merchandise. There's a good mix of stuff. A lot of stuff from Chico's (I'm not a fan) but things for more trendy folks too, but not super trendy. Mostly decent designer or designer-ish clothing, accessories and shoes. The women in the West Central location are extremely friendly and helpful and the associates I've encountered in the downtown location have been very nice too. I haven't consigned here, just bought a lot of stuff! The longer it's been there, the lower the price, so check those tags. Everything I saw was in good condition. One thing to know is that in the downtown location, they have dressing rooms on both sides of the store. I wish I had known that. Oh well. Highly recommend. read more
