The technician came out to install some kind of monitoring device. He left the breaker panel completely uncovered and exposed. I'm talking about the cover to the breakers and wiring. It rained for two days in this condition. I have children that could have easily been electrocuted. I have called numerous times with no response. We moved into our new house in November that needed the roof replaced, so the solar panels we lease through SunSystem needed to be removed. SunSystem contracted with Novasource Power Services who took the panels off on 1/12. The panels were left leaning against the house uncovered. It took over a month to get a re-install date which was supposed to be in March and now they have canceled twice. The tentative re-install is currently for the end of June. We called numerous times to talk to someone about the issue and had many unanswered messages. I was referred to SunSystem Tech as the inverted for my existing solar system was displaying an error. I recently bought the house and knew nothing about how the system operated. Because the system was fully paid for when I purchased the house and no lease agreement was in place, I was worried I would have a difficult and expensive process ahead. Couldn't have been more wrong. Norma was outstanding in contacting with me, getting the details, quickly scheduling the appointment and following-up with a clear email. When Jeremy arrived as my technician he quickly went to work, taking less than 10 minutes to diagnose the issue, contact the manufacturer and confirm reorder of a new inverter which was under warranty. Norma was immediately in touch to talk me through what to expect and again reached out when the inverter was available for installation. Jeremy was back - quickly and efficiently everything was installed in under 30 minutes and the system was back up and running. He stepped me through the basic screens on the inverter and gave a layman's explanation of how everything works. This kind of professional, efficient, kind and helpful team isn't common and 'd strongly recommend this company to any friends of family looking for solar. I'd also give six-stars if I could. :-) read more

I have been trying to contact them for weeks about an issue with my system and get nobody to call me back or email me back. After going online to find out more about this company I can see this is a common problem. I hired another solar installer to work with the reporting company on the failed installation of my new DAS box. They determined SST never connected the new DAS box to power and the Internet. I have pictures and documentation describing the incorrect wiring work performed by SST. It clearly shows SST wired the DAS box incorrectly. It had nothing to do with router firewall problems as SST claimed. SST apparently ran into some time-consuming problems, and so SST abandoned their obligation to get the system working. I had to pay another company to repair their installation. read more

DO NOT have anything to do with this Co. We have had problems with our solar system since 2017 and the whole system was destroyed by wind Jan. 16, 2021. They continued charging us for something NOT working properly since 2017 and even after the system debris was removed from our property. This has cost US over 25K since the issues started. They are in breach of contract! Will not release us from our contract or remove the LIEN (50+K) on our home. (We had a verbal release from Jared Wilson on Sept. 23, 2021) but nothing else. There is major fraud here. They DO NOT answer calls, emails, written correspondence or even attorney letters. It's as thought they don't even exit. I have had multiple bad experiences now with your customer service representatives. The first one told me the incorrect information which caused a 2 week delay in my solar panels to be turned on and now scheduling a person to set up our monitoring has been a nightmare. So far no good. The moderator does not work and they say I'm responsible for a new one. I was told everything is covered for 25 years parts and labor. They sent someone to see why my system is not working a 100 percent so his diagnosis was you need a new moderator. They wanted 250.00 for that which is abused bc they didn't fix the issue. Everyone switches wifi to save money and when you do that you moderate your system and to get your moderator on the new wifi is a headache and a half. Right now i have an overprice solar that's not producing enough energy for my house. choose another company read more

Terrible customer service trying to get them to come out and re-install the panels they removed prior to having the roof replaced. They are the designated service provider for Sunrun in my area. When they finally came out to replace the panels they left without doing anything, saying that one of the panel arrays will not fit back on the same roof space it was before. Same shingle roof as before, and they couldn't explain why it wouldn't fit. That was nearly 3 months ago. They told me Sunrun needs to approve re-arranging the panels, but they won't coordinate with Sunrun. Neither company returns phone calls or email. So my paid-for panels are sitting on the patio collecting dust, and my bill to PG&E is horrific. There seems to be no recourse to use another vendor or any available escalation method for Sunrun.... so here I am sharing my frustration. read more

SunSystem was sent to do a repair on our solar panels, and after several scheduling issues they finally came, took all of the panels off our roof, apparently did complete some portion of the repair(?) and then left us, according to them due to some missing parts. I was treated right when I called to find out when I was being scheduled to fix my solar. I called and was told that San Antonio was a remote area and not sure when they would be by. I asked to speak to office manager or some one else but the lady who answered said that there was no one and I told her I could not believe there was no one. She continued and hung the phone up. Get another sub contractor to fix the problem not them. I called the GC, Sunpower and they said they would look for another sub contractor. I have been waiting for 3 weeks to get some one out to fix the solar. The lady who answered apparently thinks she is the owner and would not pass the info to talk to some one. It took WEEKS just to get a call returned, and WEEKS to get service, only to find out he can't make the repairs because they only gave him two hours for the job. He didn't even need parts. Their staff, from the sales rep, Michael Blase, to all the installers and tech people were professional and on time. We felt they were very honest and up front. All the people we interacted with from the company were helpful, positive, polite, careful, and hard-working. They worked closely with us to ensure we met our energy goals, plus their quote was extremely competitive. We figure the cost of the system will offset our PG&E bill, which was climbing higher and higher. Plus, the solar panels on the roof look good! Extremely unprofessional from the first call. Some guy (Andrew - phone number 916 436 5134) cold calls me, starts firing questions and gets upset when I question who he is. Turns out Sunpower contracted them to replace my inverters. Their crew gets here, tears my working system apart and then realizes they don't have enough inverters so my system is now down for 3-4 weeks? I call Andrew to be told tough luck, nothing he can do about it. He does a song and dance about how screwed up Sunpower is and how he hates working for them - give them a call and complain. Based on my experience and several reviews here relating similar experiences, I'm wondering if SST is even a legitimate business entity. At the least, they are not interested in providing satisfactory service to customers. My SunPower solar monitor is not operating and SunPower has agreed to replace it. However, SunPower sent my monitor to SST believing that they service my geographic location. They do not. SunPower continues to send me updates (now spanning several months) describing how they are repeatedly attempting to schedule service with SST. Obviously these attempts have not been successful. My own phone calls to SST have gone unanswered for several weeks until today when I received a random text message confirming that they do not service my area, but might eventually "build a trip" to my area "if" they get additional work orders. Meanwhile, several reputable solar contractors actually do service my area and could install my monitor without delay. SST, however, is apparently going to hang onto my replacement monitor indefinitely and remain extremely difficult to contact. I rarely author reviews, let alone negative reviews, but I've also rarely received such terrible service. If you have an alternative to SST, I recommend pursuing that option. read more

This company was tasked to replace a working meter on my solar system, for an upgrade, through Spruce Finance. They called me 8x leaving incomplete messages. It took me 90 minutes to confirm with Spruce that they were actually connected to them and a vendor I needed to work with for this task. An appointment was set for a 3 hour afternoon window to accommodate my schedule working as a professional who cannot be disturbed once I am in an appointment. Instead, they called to let me know they had an earlier appointment, which I had already rejected, and then without confirming, send their technician 4 hours early. When alerting the technician to this, his reply was, well it'll only take 5 minutes - which missed the point about not being disrupted. Add to this he was unmasked; I had to ask him to mask up. Then when he went to do the work, I noted that I had had not had time to clear my yard or the area near my meter for his ease of work - and he says, don't worry, and then proceeds to step on my plants and other items in the area. I'd call this totally clueless. Never even bothered to offer an apology for the disruption, etc. So my conclusion is that you cannot trust this company to do things completely, to follow through as agreed, or to be respectful in the process of their work. They were not on this minor task; I can't imagine what you'd be in for with any larger jobs. read more

He was well spoken and explained the advantages of having solar and how the savings could help us in the long run. The crew came out on time and explained what and how the job would be done. Communication is very important to me and that was no issue with the crew at SST! Tyler called me throughout the job making sure everything was going well on my end. SunSystem Technology just installed a 6.3kW Solar System. I got quotes from 5 companies and SST provided the best value for money and came highly recommended from a friend. They were extremely professional during the entire process and kept me well informed on the progress. SST helped provide the required documentation for HOA approval on short notice and also dealt with the iterative SMUD's approval process. On the day of installation, the installers were punctual and provided regular updates on progress. John from SST has been very responsive to my requests from the beginning and has been a pleasure to work with. Overall I am very pleased with my experience with SST and definitely recommend them. They installed a system for me last August. The inverter didn't work and had to be replaced right away. I was down a whole week after my notice to proceed not producing any power. Now ten months later the inverter is down again and needs to be replaced. I reported this to them and the manufacturer the 8th of June. I was put on the schedule for the 18th of June for them to swap out the inverter They recieved the replacement the 15th of June. Now the 18th I spoke to their technician and he informed me this was just brought to his attention and the earliest he could make it is this afternoon. So I guess the schedule didn't matter. I shouldn't have to call and birddog the company to get a repair of the system they installed. They finally showed up the repaired the system. They did follow their own warranty. read more

I bought a house tgat already had solar from SST. When i started having electrical issues the home warranty pointed fingers at the panel that was installed by SST. John sent his electrician oit free of charge to inspect. I was provided copies of permits and shown photos of the install. SST had dine the job right, but the HVAC technician messed thing up during the nee ac install. John provided great customer service. read more

I purchased a home with a rooftop solar system. The roof needed to be replaced, so I contacted the company that did the installation to get a quote on removing the solar panels, and reinstalling them once the roofing work was done. It turn out that my warranty would become null and void if I did not use them to do this job. O.K, no problem. They contract with Sun System Technology to do the actual work. Sun System sent a crew and the system was removed. The roofers came the next day and did their work. It is now 5 weeks since the roof was done and my solar panels are still stacked up in my garage. Speaking to Andrew, who seems to be in charge there, is futile. He says that they are waiting for a delivery of the necessary hardware to do the reinstall. and he can't tell me when that might be. Really? In 2019 you can't track an order for a customer? By the way, this is an $8000 job, not including the roof work. I can understand a delay, or a problem, but to just tell the customer to be patient doesn't cut it. I can't imagine customer service worse than this. I'll give one star for the removal of the panels. At least the workers seem to know what they're doing. read more
