Blackened Fish Tacos
Bren H.

It is a cool concept with the fusion of burgers/hot dogs and Mexican food. My experience here was mid. The place is pretty small inside - maybe 5 tables inside but I could see the outside seating being more beneficial (it was 40oF and dark so inside was the only choice). They do have a nice bar area and even serve some quality draft beer. Our food took longer than expected to arrive. The place was not very busy on a Monday evening and the other two tables already had food when we arrived, so I was expecting the food to come pretty quick (especially since we just ordered tacos). The tacos were tasty. The Al pastor tacos looked more empty than the fish tacos. The Al pastor tacos flavor was nice and I enjoyed the sauce on the side, but the taco wasn't filled very well. I was told the fish tacos were scrumptious and very tasty. I feel like the tacos needed a side of chips or something else to go with them especially if you aren't filling the tortillas very well. Suggestion: but I even think serving free chips and salsa could lighten the environment up some and keep customers happy. Overall 3/5 stars. Nice server, tasty food, just wished food had come sooner out of kitchen and tacos were a little more full so I wasn't practically eating half a tortilla.

Sierra Vista Hot Dog

I arrived at Gov's on a beautiful Fall day in North Carolina that was one of the first where the summer heat began to yield to the impeccable fall. I checked in at the host stand and chose a table outside. Sometimes I feel bad when choosing a table father away from the hustle of the restaurant because it means extra effort for my server but the gentleman taking care of me was incredibly kind and took great care of me. The Sierra Vista hot dog had been recommended to me. It's listed on the menu as having fried jalapeno, cotija cheese, diced tomatoes, and BBQ sauce. I ordered one then the server asked if I wanted two, but one seemed enough (and it WAS!). It arrived quickly. I liked that the friend jalapeno was strips not chips. This helped you get a spicy fried bite each time. I searched and couldn't find any BBQ sauce on mine. Which was ok, but I do love me some BBQ sauce. Also the bun, though delicious, immediately fell apart when I went to pick-up the dog for the first time. Not the biggest deal, but I was surprised because, without the sauce, there wasn't that much liquid involved which typically is the cause of disintegrating buns. The fries were tasty to and I got the housemade ranch. A great combo. A good dog, great service, and a lovely patio (aided by perfect weather): Go visit Gov's!

Gov's Burger & Tap Menu

This local burger spot is great! The menu offers a variety of burgers, salads, sandwiches and appetizers. The burgers are juicy and delicious. And the fries are wonderful! I enjoy the ambience of the location. The restaurant is small and comfortable. The environment allows for genuine conversation and a lot of laughs. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. I truly enjoyed my first experience at Gov's Burger & Tap.

Fried cod and French fries, forgot about the flavor-full fries.

Great place for a fantastic meal. My wife and myself went in for a nice supper. What a pleasant surprise. The fried squash was fantastic, very hot, just the right season sauce for dipping. It was made fresh to order. Will return just for these! I had the pork chop sandwich and a cup of the soup of the day onion soup, not French onion. A delicious blend of onions, and broth. The pork chop was breaded just right, a thin coating not covered in a inch of batter. Just a dab coleslaw, which complimented the sandwich not over whelming the favor profile. I used no extra sauce it was just that good. My wife had the fried cod, again not over-battered. A thin coating to enhance the favor, but not over take the freshness of the cod filet. We will be back to enjoy more of this outstanding menu.

First off, excellent and friendly customer service. I really appreciated the hospitality from the moment I arrived to when I paid for my check. I ordered a burger and fries which came out to be about $20. For the quality, i felt like it was worth every penny. The fries was the MVP. It was fried so perfectly and crispy. What a work of art! The burger was good and fulfilling. I feel like it could've been better but better than average. Overall, pretty cool spot for a burger and beer if you're interested!

After the burger

Came here for a late lunch, so very few people. A small place inside, but they have some outdoor seating available. I was waited on by a nice young lady. I ordered a burger and it came with fries. The burger was good, but it was not cooked evenly. Part was medium, part was medium well. It did have a big slice of tomato and some good lettuce and pickle. The ketchup and mustard was on the table, but the almost empty ketchup was way too sweet...not very good, so I didn't ask for another bottle. There was a small cup of sauce that was maybe mayo based....so I ate a few fries with that instead of more cheap ketchup. I didn't eat many because they were not hot. I am not a big fries fan, so to eat them, they go down a lot easier hot...but these were not. Since it was an " off" time, it was obvious I got the leftovers from the lunch crowd. At least serve them hot, even if they are leftovers. A good sized burger, but pricey. I will not return.

Regular burger with large fries.

Well it sure took me a while to finally check this place out. I guess you could say it was worth the wait! Super nice employees and very efficient in every way from taking the order, bringing our drinks and food out, and checking on us. My spouse really enjoyed the regular burger and loved the fries. We got a large order of fries to share that were excellent, but far too much for two, so we got a take out container to bring at least half or more home. I had the Roy Williams burger which comes with bacon jam and pimento cheese. I've never had bacon Jam before and theirs has BBQ sauce in it so a little hard to taste the bacon. It was ok, but I'd probably try another burger next time. The burgers themselves were really good and on nice brioche buns from The Bread Shop in Pittsboro. If you've lived here long enough you know how good their bread is and the buns are no exception. All in all we had a good experience and look forward to returning next time a burger craving hits, which won't be far off.

Blackened fish tacos and Al pastor tacos

It's gone from Al's burgers to Gov's burgers and now Gov's fusion cantina. This is probably the best iteration so far!!! Really enjoying their Mexican fare! Taco Tuesday may just become a weekly thing for us here! The new owner/chef and staff are all welcoming and personable. It's great to have this restaurant in the neighborhood . Don't forget to save room for dessert! Their churros are awesome.

This is where Tobacco Road used to be and is pretty much the same layout as it was then. I don't recall the nice outside area they have now though. My daughter and I decided to sit outside which was a huge mistake because it was so hot!!! Not their fault but some fans would be great. They have heaters installed, so fans seem obvious. The food was really good! We had pretzel bites and two salads. The salads were a twist on traditional (boring) salads and were tasty. They have a good draft beer selection and the beer was nice and cold.

Suisse Enchiladas
Shari H.

Not much for ambience, small, noisy, just a few tables. The service was excellent, our server was very attentive. She recommended the daily special of Suisse Enchiladas. I asked for it in a vegetarian version and she said that would be no problem. The presentation was beautiful and the chicken version and vegetarian versions were both delicious. We ordered chips and salsa and the chips were a bit on the thick side, which we prefer lighter chips, but they were home m

Delicious food super friendly service, and a doggy menu. Sitting outside in the cool breeze after a big old southern thunderstorm. What more could you ask for?

Chicken sandwich on gluten free bun and fries
Kellie D.

First time at Gov's. It is small and we felt fortunate to be seated immediately inside since it was chilly outside. Waitress brought us water quickly and said she'd be back for our order. She never came back. Eventually another waitress took our order. We were two people seated at a table for four and the owner asked if we minded moving to a table for two that had opened up so he could seat a family of four. We did not mind moving at all. I'm glad they were trying to accommodate more people. Our food arrived and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered a chicken sandwich on gluten free bun and fries. Fries were so good. Husband loved his burger. Employees were all super friendly. We'll definitely be back.

There was plenty of parking. We were greeted upon entry and informed that we could choose where we sat and just to scan the table QR code when we were ready to order. We chose a high top and a server brought us water. The vibrant colors and decor gave off excellent vibes. I ordered the Karaage Bowl (on greens instead of rice AND all the sauces on the side) and a side order of seaweed salad. A server brought them to our table. It was not necessary for us to get up once we were seated. Everything was SO GOOD. Like, "I'm mad at myself for not coming here before" good. All of the sauces were amazing too. I ordered them on the side since I wasn't sure how I would like them all, but I think I'll leave them on next time. The "greens" were a mix of lettuce and cabbage. The side of seaweed salad for $2.50 seemed a little small when they brought it out but it was packed in there and was plenty. The server came around a couple of times to check on us and top off our water. We bussed our own trash. There was only one unisex bathroom that I saw. There seemed like a lot of takeout orders going out (it was a little separate from the dining area which was nice). There was also a lovely outdoor area that would be nice if it wasn't 100 degrees. I will definitely be back to try more menu items!

Wish it was a traditional Swiss Raclette where the cheese is melted on top of a half wheel then scraped off. But this was a French Raclette according to the menu which had thick slices of cows milk melted over halved fingerling potatoes ( under the cheese in the picture ) with sides of good sliced baguette, salami and more small cornichons than I've had at one time in my life. While it tasted good and filled me up, it wasn't the best I ever had. But it's worth a visit. You should check it out.

A month later, I found myself making the hour-long drive from Cary to Haw River Tap & Table--and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. As a farmhouse ale and saison enthusiast, this place felt like my happy place. We kicked things off with a flight featuring Beneath the Feet of Orion, We're All Quite Happy Right Here, Thank You (seriously... who comes up with these wonderfully ridiculous names? ), The Seven Faces of Pepe Grano, and Mille Fleur. Every beer was thoughtfully crafted and distinct, but We're All Quite Happy Right Here, Thank You completely stole the show. A bee pollen saison sounds unconventional, yet it was beautifully balanced, floral, refreshing, and unlike anything I've had before. The food easily kept pace with the beer. The Southern Cheese Slaw & Crackers disappeared embarrassingly fast, and the Carolina Egg Rolls were huge, crispy, and packed with flavor--perfect companions to the farmhouse ales. Of course, one flight wasn't enough. Round two included Crimson Velvet, Carolina Tapestry, Toasted Coconut Scribbler's Son, and Cultural Divide: Muscadine Rosemary. Each pour showcased the brewery's creativity without feeling gimmicky. Whether it was the rich toasted coconut lager, the juniper-forward sahti, or the tart muscadine rosemary sour, there was something memorable in every glass. If you appreciate breweries that aren't chasing the latest hazy IPA trend and instead focus on expertly crafted saisons, farmhouse ales, and unique traditional styles, Haw River Tap & Table is absolutely worth the trip. The quality, creativity, welcoming atmosphere, and excellent food made for an outstanding afternoon. I came because of one bottle from Whole Foods. I left already planning my next visit. Cheers!

It was a very casual set up, you order at the counter, take a plaque with a number, and they bring your food out when ready. Still riding the high from May's National Burger month, I decided to give their smash burger a try. Their smash burgers by default are only 3oz, but for +$4 you can get a second, and I'm assuming a third or fourth if you keep paying the additional fee. I also got a side of potato wedges, and the Shortstraw IPA (brewed with fresh pine needles!!!). They had a good variety of beers, so it was hard to pick. The Shortstraw IPA was an awesome starter. I wasn't sure at first, but the cashier gave me a taste, and it was really flavorful and unique. The food didn't take too long to come out, and everything tasted great. The burger was cooked perfected with some tasty seasonings on it, the fries were also cooked to perfection with a slight crunch on the outside, and soft on the inside. This was a great visit, and somewhere I'll certainly return to next time I'm in the area for a show. Friendly service, tasty food, and unique/delicious beer!
