Had a two night stay here and didn't really read other reviews prior to booking as it was stayed at by one of our party on a prior trip. Having said that, I would recommend this location as an economical place to stay for a night or two. The upside of this place is that the rooms are clean. The bathrooms are clean and the location is convenient for many services. The downside of the property is that it is in need of renovation. Obviously they started with the bedrooms and bathrooms which is great, but the carpeting really needs to be replaced in the rooms and in the hallways. The other slightly disappointing item is the breakfast bar is not much of a breakfast bar it's coffee, some cereal and oatmeal that you have to use hot water to make yourself. The staff was helpful, courteous and genuinely nice with every interaction. There's a dumpster out front full of materials from the hotel that would indicate renovations are ongoing and I think that's great. Hopefully they keep going, and the next day will provide an even better experience. read more

Dirty Place The room itself needed a good cleaning. Stains on chair and rug. Lamp shades had splash marks of something, the air conditioner barely worked etc etc. We stayed here overnight for a concert we were attending at CMAC. I'd rather have slept in the car. We were going to a wedding in Canandaigua and needed a place nearby to spend the night and this was the perfect choice! It was a stones throw away from the venue and I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised! The bed was super comfortable and the room was clean. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and I was happy to hear that they are pet friendly. It's a good choice for sure. My only complaint was that when you put the bathroom light on the fan went on and it was annoying it should be on a separate switch. Not a top-of-the-line place to spend the night but it worked out for us. Decent breakfast bar. read more

I've read so many "UNFAIR" reviews... the employees at this motel are amazing! you know the saying you can't get blood from a stone? this holds true for this property as well! I can agree the property is a little outdated and stuff happens! you can not hold these employees liable for corporate issues this is a SUPER 8 not the RITZ CARLTON I've had a few minor issues... One should expect spartan lodgings from a Super 8. Certainly. I traveled extensively throughout North America on business for 38 years. But THIS Super 8 is a dump. Actually a dive is more like it. I came into town to assist my wife who just did a 1 1/2 day 120 mile cycle ride. It was late. The Holiday Inn Express (which is very nice) was booked. So we came here. The front desk person on the evening 7/27/22 cared about no one. She was indifferent, cold and unfriendly. The carpets are filthy and ten years past replacement. At spots they are unsafe. The handrail on the stairway (no elevator) was sticky with filth. The base board at the stairway was filthy. The trash can outside at the front door was filthy. There is an oversized picture sitting on the floor in our room. Storage? The second floor reeked of cigarette and pot smoke. The carpet in our room is filthy. It probably has not been cleaned for at least several years. Lightbulbs are burned out. The breakfast is a joke. It took 4 minutes to get hot water for the shower. About 10% of the wall paper Has peeled off the bathroom wall. Windows are all dirty. DO NOT stay here. If the HIE is full, keep driving. read more

We're here for a family reunion. 5 nights. We needed 3 double rooms so for The price was reasonable. Didnt expect much. Hotel was reasonably clean. Friendly front desk STAFF and cleaning person. Excellent shower water pressure and hot. Beautiful lake view for one of the rooms. There's signs of no smoking everywhere but place smells like cigarettes. Was corrected as soon as we complaint. Beds were great , firm mattress and comfy pillows. Covid times. AM just coffee and some granola bars. Good Coffee all day long. Definitely will recommend if you're here to just sleep in the hotel like we did. read more

I get that this is a super 8.... but come on!!!! There were pubes on the toilet, hair all over the shower walls, weird stains and smells... absolutely no handicap rails! & during my stay (which I might add is due to cancer treatment) "Amanda" from the front desk knocked on our door to ask us if we were smoking inside the room.. After we explained we have not and it couldn't be coming from here she said "hm, well it smells like it." ok? why has she not knocked on anyone else's door? i see from past reviews that customers have complained of the same smell. maybe thats the room we got? not sure but she didn't have to be condescending during these hard times. what great service ! thanks amanda! you made dying a little more unpleasant ! read more

Hotel staff nice facility is old and dirty. First room tv didn't work moved to second room where tv didn't work . Gave up at midnight. There is no elevator so you need to carry luggage if you are on second floor. The rugs are filthy and stained. The curtains are ripped and so are the sheets. Don't waste your money. read more

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I stayed there for my brother-in-law's wedding, and while talking to my husband after the wedding, I saw a black little bug scurry out from under the pillow. We packed up our stuff immediately, and we handed the bug to the front desk attendant in a ziplock bag in case there was any difficulty in getting a refund for our room. Luckily, there was not. Unfortunately, the bugs got into our suitcase and came home with us. If you have had the good fortune to never have bed bugs, let me tell you, it is an absolutely miserable experience. The bites themselves itch like hell - and they will get you all over your body - but your mind plays tricks on you and you can't sleep. Every nerve in your body that misfires feels like a bedbug, and you can't sleep. It's not worth it to save a few bucks staying here - avoid this hotel! read more

AVOID THIS HOTEL!!! First of all, and most infuriating, is that the Wifi is crap. When it does work it's unusable. Check-in process: The staff seems untrained and incompetent. My check-in process was delayed by about 30 minutes because the check-in representative was having trouble navigating the computer system. Then they put me in a Handicapped Smoking room with one double bed when I booked a NONSMOKING room with 2 double beds. My receipt from Priceline showed this. There was no price difference and there were plenty of empty rooms with 2 empty beds. They refused to switch my room, leaving a handicapped room unnecessarily occupied. Oh, and the room is too small for a rollaway bed so we won't bring one in. Once I finally got to the room, the smell of smoke was everywhere. The bed was unmade, there were ashes in the sink, stains on the lampshade, wrappers on the carpet, etc etc etc. (Sending pics of this to Super 8 HQ when I get home!). They went out of their way to clean another handicapped room with one bed instead of moving me into the room I had originally booked. I'm sleeping on my coat. The room is so dirty and gross. The ice machine is moldy, the carpets and bedspreads need to be changed, and the mattress feels like sleeping directly on metal coils. The televisions are old with bad color. The toilet bowls are stained and the lampshades are all crooked. My advice: Go to the Holiday Inn Express next door. It's in the same damn parking lot. Two words: bed bugs. We only saw two of them, but that's still 2 too many, so we left at about 3 AM. People working there were generally friendly, and thankfully, they took the charge off my card before I even got a chance to call the manager about it on Monday morning. I paid $60 per night, and got about what I expected. It's a typical budget property. Carpet on the stairs from the lobby are taped down in some places and the property shows its age but it's very good value, relatively clean and the only option in the area when the Inn on the Lake is booked, as it was during our trip. Was somewhat disappointed that the public areas smelled like smoke. In room wifi is advertised but did not work. Rooms are small but have clothes rack, TV and small safe. My fiance and I traveled from New Hampshire for a concert at CMAC, and picked this budget property because, "We just need a place to sleep." Well, we have done many budget hotels in the past, and this was definitely the worst. When we first arrived, they placed us in a handicap-accessible room with 1 full size bed. The bed was not large enough for two people. The bathroom was massive and ate up most of the space. Not only that, but there were clearly other vacant rooms and it felt wrong for 2 non-handicapped people to take this room. I did speak to the front desk and they were able to place us in a double room instead without hassle and I did appreciate that. The entire hotel smells like cigarettes, even the non-smoking areas. The parking lot is littered with potholes, though I jokingly suggested to my fiance that they were "cheap speedbumps" since they're all lined up in neat rows. So who knows? The hotel still has super-old standard definition TVs. The walls are really thin, I could hear my neighbor's television through the wall. One of my blankets had a large scorched hole where a cigarette had burned through. The building and rooms are run down. You get the sense that no one really cares about the property at all. I'm giving this place 2 stars because a.) there were no bugs per previous reviews, and b.) the front desk was able to resolve my issue quickly. But we wound up cutting our trip short one day because neither of us wanted to sleep here another night. If we're ever down in this area again, we'll be trying the Holiday Inn Express next door. read more

Just the facts -- the staff is great - they are caring and helpful. But just to inform others that: 1. This facility does not have an elevator so if you have things to carry - you will be your own bell boy and will be lugging them up the stairs. 2. The rooms are adequate but are so jammed with things that there is virtually no counter space. This can be improved by putting the mini-fridge on the floor and putting the little TV on top of it. 3. The rooms have next to no extra power outlets - I had to un-plug lamps to charge my phone and lap top. 4. This is the only issue I found really troubling... They say that they want to stay "Green" so I had to use the same towels and wash cloths for my entire stay. I had to go out and buy additional items because of this. I separated my glass and cans into a separate bag to put in their recycle bin - but when I asked where it was, I discovered that there were no recycle bins. How are they "Staying Green" if they don't even recycle - what they really are doing is "Staying Cheap". 5. I don't know where they bought their toilets from but they are nearly child sized and very low - so if you are full sized adult you may have trouble getting up, oh, and they don't have any handicap rails - so if this a problem for you, be advised. 6. This last one is nobody's fault but the rude person who smoked (allot) in a non-smoking room. The room absolutely wreaked of stale cigarette smoke when I arrived - over the ensuing days and many cans of Lysol later, it improved. Half the hotel is smoking and half is non-smoking so why someone choose to do this is beyond me. This is probably something the housekeeping staff might have noted and aired out the room for a few days before re-renting it. 7. The location is central to shopping and the main road to the interstate is close by. All in all, its a pretty good deal for the money, just be aware of the limitations I described above. read more

It's 5:30 am. I'm up. I've been up since 4am. Why, because the smell of fresh cigarette smoke is seeping through my door. My window is open because the thermostat isn't working and it's so stuffy in here. Well, window open during hunting season is a bad idea. Why? Let's see, the hunters get up nice and early and feel the need to have conversations and rev their engines in the parking lot. That's obviously not the hotels fault, it just adds to the experience. My wife and I work in the Finger Lakes region a few times a year and we have to stay over night when we come down. When we checked in, it took longer than it should of because the computer was very slow. Even though the room was pre paid, they asked for a credit card so they can charge $162 in case you smoke in the room or do any damage. This is the first time we have ever had to do this? When getting to our room we noticed the following. There were what appeared to be several pubic hairs between the sheets and also a brown substance, almost like crumbs on the sheets. There was hair on the bathroom sink, a rolled up used tissue behind the safe on the floor. No alarm clock, no mini fridge, no microwave and no coffee pot so no packets of coffee. They did have coffee in the lobby but after working long hours and having to get up early the next morning to work, who wants to go to the lobby to get coffee. In the vents of the air conditioner/ heater, there were several pieces of what appeared to be food? There were several spaces between the newly installed flooring. Very poorly installed, not a huge issue, just very apparent that quality control is not their top priority. When you walk in, they have signs posted that you must wear a mask due to local requirements. When we checked out the next morning there were two females behind the desk, Neither of them wearing a face mask? They offered no juice, but they do offer a very poor bagged so called breakfast. As far as that $162 deposit that they charged on my card, it will take a few days before it is back in my account. We will no longer stay at the Super 8 in Canandaigua. From now on we will spend a little more money to have a pleasant experience and stay next door. Very unhappy and former customers. read more

Honestly, this hotel was one of the cleaner super 8 I have stayed in. Great place for the price. My room was really clean. Staff was friendly. Big breakfast offered. Great location. The only downside was the place smelt like cigarettes, but it wasn't too bad or unbearable. read more

We traveled from California with a youth group amd we made reservations here. We got here around midnight. We all headed to our rooms amd all we wanted to do was sleep. Well it turns out the sink faucet was broken. Then we got like 4 calls during the night saying that we were being loud amd we needed to turn off our television and music off. In reality we were all asleep. We complained to the manager that we wanted to switch rooms but she was being rude and ignored us and insisted it was us. read more

Has a wedding in Canandaigua this past weekend. I wish I would have read the reviews beforehand. We wanted to save a few bucks on a room so we paid 80 bucks for one night. I learned after we got there that this is more of a 50 dollar a night place. The price was jacked up because hunters come from all over the stay. This is one of the few hotels that you still can get smoking rooms. That may be a bonus for some but not for me. We had a non smoking room and that's all you can smell in the room was smoke. Walls are paper thin so you can here everything. Our toilet in the room would run on its own every hour or so. The room was clean I guess but looked like it was the same decor that it had when it was built, guessing the 60s. Continental breakfast was pretty bad and the coffee was worse. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra cash and stay somewhere else. One plus is the location, it is near everything you would need . read more
