The hotel is old and tired. They've updated some things in the rooms but the common areas are filthy and worn out. There are problems w the refrigerators and TV's in the rooms. The pool is closed. Spend a few $ more to upgrade or try a different budget motel at least until the new owners puts some more $'s into a full upgrade. read more

This is for Super 8, Joplin, MO. Googling has a link to the website, which has correct reviews (low). (see at end) The room on the first floor (sub-basement) is clean, maintained and adequate. Tourist Class (TravelerWeekly.com) and 2-star hotel (google). The tub/shower stall and bathroom fixtures are well maintained. The lobby was small and well maintained. The front desk clerk was friendly and the only "service" to rate was the check-in and check-out. No rug, so take your slippers. Overall, this presents as the OLDER MOTEL that it is. Small room size (like the 1990's), dark furnishings and colors (including the hallways). The sink counter is adequate (by taking turns to use). No alarm clock, no coffee maker, fridge not working. The room seems quiet, the A/C is not too noisy, and it muffles noises. Guests walking above could be heard. How can a hotel not accommodate the handicapped? The lowest floor access is down a steep RAMP! It lies partially below ground level. Plus, no elevator! So, you need to use stairs to reach the upper 3 floors! It's amazing that no other reviews commented about this!? No luggage cart. Lug your bags up the stairs or carefully down the steep ramp (it's likely not ADA compliant). No covered unloading. So, unload on the driveway at the side door and then move vehicle to parking at the back side. (reverse that when depart). The breakfast nook is adequate, small and with only 4 tables and 6 chairs. Minimal fixings are provided, such as cereal, yogurt, twinkies/cupcakes, etc. No hot food except waffle iron, no margarine, no toaster (no bread). Denny's Restaurant is only a couple of hundred feet from the motel. Built 1995; remodel 2005; redesign bathroom and bedding in 2010; and 2016 remodel. This renovation was part of a larger effort by Wyndham to enhance the brand's image and customer experience following their acquisition of La Quinta." One Veteran's Parking Spot also is a Wyndham feature. Its difficult to see/find the access the feeder road to the motel. Aim for the Waffle House and go left. To exit, literally drive through the Cenex Gas fuel pump area to the stop light. The motel is at the end of a dead-end street adjacent to the I-44 R-O-W. The empty concrete pad of the demolished Sunrise Motel is a bleak view out the back. So, along with a large wooded, brushy area nearby, it has the appearance of maybe a somewhat sketchy area? In short, the building needs work. Even though the hotel is advertised as "smoke free", the floor I was on smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The room needed minor wall repairs and the shower ceiling had water damage and mold. The tub area had small areas of mold, the tub itself had a large chip in the porcelain. I stayed her in august 2023 Super8 by Wyndham in Joplin 2/5 stars because their pool wasn't available to swim in. I wish I knew that before I booked with them. The front desk worker went above and beyond as I had to quarantine here when I got sick coming to visit family from out of town. The worker made sure I had everything I needed, and even brought me food to my room. read more

My husband booked me a room on Priceline.com without looking at reviews. In a word, aweful. The motel needs to be gutted and they need to fully remodel. An entry door was broken. My first rooms card reader was broken. My second room smelled heavily of cigarette smoke despite being "non-smoking" and was not really very clean. This coupled with safety issues made me turn around and walk out. The only high light was the lady at the front desk who was pleasant and helpful. read more

From the broken entry door in the rear of the building to the missing fire detector in our room, the Joplin super 8 encapsulates everything gross and terrifying about staying in random hotels. The stained walls, ceilings, doors and bathtubs only add to the overall horror movie-esque scene that unfolds upon entering your room. The soiled pillow cases and crust-covered blankets further fuel your living nightmare. Some how in my exhausted stupor from traveling over 1000 miles by car that day, I convinced myself it was fine and tried to get some sleep. The recurring jolts of anxiety that woke me throughout the night proved that even in my compromised state, the sheer terror that was the state of my room was not worth the tiny savings. For your own peace of mind, spend the extra $20 and stay the night in a place that won't haunt your dreams for years to come. read more

We actually couldn't even stay here. When we got into the room there was a terrible smell, mold on the bedskirt (had no idea that was possible), brown smears on one of the pillows, dust, and stained carpets. We asked for a refund right away, which they gave us while also talking on a cell phone. Not worth the 30 ish less then other places around. read more

Came to town late and didn't reserve a room before leaving Kansas City, so I drove through the parking lots of a few motels on Rangeline and this one looked good on the outside. I took a change and booked a room online from the parking lot, you will get a better rate if you do this. Room was very clean. Fridge, microwave, ironing board, and iron. Bedding and curtains look fairly new. Tornado sirens went off and the woman working the desk was very calm, gave clear directions and even pounded on all the room doors to get people to safe area. Then once there, gave us updates to what was going on and answered questions from scared customers in hallway calmly, Only thing I would mention on a downside is you can hear traffic on I44 but I slept through that, you can for sure hear the tornado sirens loud and clear! Didn't have breakfast, had to bail early, but it smelled good. Coffee and coffee pot in room. read more

My brother and I stayed here a couple months ago and were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. It was clean, quiet, the staff was very friendly, and my dog was welcome. The place had recently been remodeled when we stayed there, complete with new beds. Not long before, I had hurt my back and was concerned about sleeping in a motel bed, so knowing they had new beds was a bonus. It turned out that I had the best night's sleep I'd had in quite some time! It's not a fancy schmancy, luxury hotel, but for an economical place to stay while traveling, it was an excellent choice. I'll probably be going through Joplin again in a few months, and I intend to stay here. I hope it'll be as pleasant a stay next time. read more

I wish I could give them 4 stars but there was just a few things over looked. The top of the fridge was very dusty as well as the microwave. The exhaust vent should either be clean or replaced. There was a small chip in the wall behind the chair. These all are small issues easily fixed. All in all the room was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. We had room 216 which is right next to the door by the stairs. Whenever anyone opened that door it could be heard in our room. So when checking in be sure to request a room that isn't close to the stairways. My husband dealt with the check in and said the gentlemen that helped him was very professional. I spoke with the front desk girl on the 3 to 11 shift, she was polite. There isn't any guest laundry available to use unfortunately. The business center was set to the side of the front desk. Almost behind it and it didn't look like it was a safe place for the front desk personal. Breakfast wasn't that great according to my husband. I can't really comment on it. There is a McDonald's close by just in case. read more

The lady at the front desk was pleasant and they allow pets which is a plus. The rooms are newly renovated but the walls are paper thin...be ready to hear everything your neighbor is doing! One of the main reasons for the bad experience was there were kids running up and down the halls until 2:30am. We called the front desk to have them check on it. Nothing was resolved. The sheets had holes in them and the towels were stained. The rooms and halls are muggy and has an old carpet stinch. I hope you to have a better experience than we did. We were skeptical of this place because it's extremely dirty and there were bad stains on all the floors, we were just passing through and needed a night to sleep. We put all our luggage in the room and left for a while to go get dinner. The room was dirty, there was hair on the bathroom vanity and the whole hotel smells funny. We were discussing over dinner that this place is not the quality we're used to. I'm an exterminator and my wife asked me to check the room for bedbugs when we got back for dinner. Good thing I did! There were bedbugs on both beds and they were crawling on the baseboards and I found one on the curtain. I took a video of everything (I'll post a screenshot of the video, yelp doesn't let you upload video). I went and spoke with the wonderful, helpful attendant and she provided me with a refund. However I'm an exterminator and know that bed bugs are hitchhikers and get in your luggage and clothing. Since I'll have to treat all my luggage and clothing for bed bugs before I take anything into my home, I asked Super 8 to pay for my room at another hotel. The attendant at the desk called her manager Ken and he declined to compensate for a room at another hotel, at the very least to calm us down from this experience; I mean we're traveling with a 5 year old. The attendant did call around and helped us find another hotel to stay in, she was as helpful as she could be; I forgot her name. Bedbugs can travel from room to room, I would recommend staying clear from this hotel, the room we stayed in was 104. read more

I am very picky with where I stay but my husband talked me into staying here. It was fantastic. They just remodeled and the rooms are nice with smart TVs in the room. Also the breakfast was your normal hotel breakfast. I would definitely stay there again. read more

We stayed here for one night in March of 2018. The room was great. Very clean, the beds were comfy. The room wasn't super large but it was adequate and so was the bathroom. We did have a microwave and fridge also. Price was decent, under $70. Decent place to stay for the night. read more

If there were a way to give zero stars, I would have. We had the WORST experience. Went to Joplin for a volleyball tournament with my teenage daughter and her team. Rooms were ok, but the bolt on the back of the door was broken off so there was no way to secure our room from the inside while we were in the room. Then, the man working the front desk gave a key to my room to another "guest" without asking for a name, checking ID or anything. That "guest" stole ALL of our belongings. They took EVERYTHING! I shutter to think what could have happened had we been in the room or walked into the room while the thieves were in there. We were supposed to stay 2 nights there and checked out immediately after being robbed. I would NOT stay at this hotel. EVER! read more

Hotel is tricky to physically locate because it's hidden behind other hotels on an odd street. My credit card was charged before I even checked in, I booked online. When I reserved the room online I was not able to select military discount and at check in the front desk said there was nothing she could do about the rate change. There is no elevator and all queen bed rooms are on the second floor. This is not listed on the website, so if you have trouble with stairs you would have to pay more for a king room on first floor. When I got to my room, it immediately smelled damp and humid. After turning up the AC this did not improve. The room is well decorated and neat. Overall I would say it is fine for a short overnight stay on a long road trip. Most likely would not choose this hotel again. read more

As you can see, no stars I wish I could place a negative sign there so all can see how bad, first the address doesn't match, meaning the sign for the hotel says one thing, not the name of the actual hotel booked. I call the day before asking about breakfast, I am told all these wonderful items, lol, I asked what time does it go, the lady says "I don't think we are serving" really so the lady lied? Then OMG the hotel interior is a work place hazard, carpet half layer down, dirt everywhere, a pure mess. Then oh love this, no hangers, no ironing board, no iron, no closet. Basically a bed with a bathroom and that's it! But yet they want full rate. I've stayed at 8 before and granted none are are 3 star or higher, but for price you get decent. This joint, a pure waste of time and effort, I suggest stay away and stay away a long time. If not ready to open and run properly don't open and don't list self as ready.
