As soon as my wife got in the bathroom to shower I hear her scream then she runs out of the bathroom mortified and speechless. I go in the bathroom to investigate, and find a cockroach as big as my hand just wiggling around on the shower curtain. As my wife puts some clothes on pleading to leave this place, I make my way to the office where I find it impossible to get a hold of anyone. I'm ringing the bell, dinging the door, yelling "HELLO?!" .... NOTHING. Literally TEN minutes of this with NO help. I had to track down the housekeeper and show her a picture and ask her "is this normal here?!" Catherine the housekeeper came to our rescue but had to spray bug spray all over the bathroom to catch the bug, which is when the desk clerk who was "NOT a manager" finally came out of the office . When i mentioned a direct refund, he quickly offered to switch rooms, but retracted the offer once Catherine came out with the shower curtain wrapped up with the bug in it. "So you guys are good then right?" The desk clerk insisted. "No. I'm not. I would like a refund" I said. He quickly dismissed my request with a timid unfulfilled promise of an disclosed "substantial" discount for our troubles. My wife did NOT feel comfortable enough to use the bathroom for the remainder of the visit, and quite frankly neither was I. Also the desk clerk promised us once the room was clean post check out, our $100 deposit would be swiftly refunded into my account which has not happened yet either. Customer service is still (in 2024) as bad as described in the other negative reviews. I paid for this reservation in full ahead of time & the receptionist refused to allow me to checkin because I only had a passport for ID. Highly do not recommend. Very poor business acumen & understanding of identification standards. read more

So we booked this place for 1 night. I do not recommend this place. We forgot to check if dog friendly, and so when we got there, the lady said they do not allow dogs in the rooms, so I said my frenchie chucky will sleep in our truck. She was rude . I got up to check on him in the middle of the night, and she had called the manager, so he stopped me and said we had been charged $150 for having my dog at the motel... I said he isn't in the room, so why the charge ? He said no dogs allowed on this property He also was rude! I didn't expect that at all and most places dog friendly. This place and the night manager (long haired guy wearing a trucker hat) are a complete joke. I reserved this place through an app because i was leaving a concert late at night and i was fairly far from home. I arrived around 11:20 PM. No one was at the night service desk or in the office. I rang the doorbell but it was dead. I did a double tap on the door but no one came. I called the number on the window and as its ringing a slender, long haired guy comes walking out from around the outside corner of the building behind me and says "Do you want your reservation cancelled?" First words out of his mouth. As im trying to process this, he starts throwing a lot of attitude over me knocking on the door. Then starts lecturing me about the sign on the window with the phone number and asks "Does the sign say 'knock'?" I said "It doesnt say not to or anything else about not knocking. Sorry about that. I had no idea." Then he tells me that my reservation is cancelled and i cant stay there. I called the customer service dept of the app i booked this place through. After hearing my side of it, they contacted the hotel to get their side. They ended up speaking with the same guy. He didnt even have the backbone to share his side. He just told the customer service rep that they had to cxl my reservation because they were overbooked........even though there were about 6+ open spaces in their parking lot (chicken sh*t). If thats what really happened then thats what my complaint would've been over. Judging by some of the other negative reviews on here, it sounds like some people have had the same misfortune of dealing with this joker. Save yourself the trouble. read more

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE this place! I live in the same town but go regularly to stay in room 108, which has a jetted tub! It's the most economical way to get to stay in a room with that kind of a tub, as you'd usually have to pay upwards of $300 anywhere else! The people are very friendly, the rooms are spotless, and it's very relaxing. My favorite place to stay when you just want to get away and soak! So glad I found this place! The super sleazy 8 motel on Alhambra Ave in Martinez,ca. If you pay for a room and show up to check in after 8 pm,you're screwed ,they will not get up to check you in.also if you lose your room key or lock self out of room,again they will not get up to let you in your room,you're fucked.ring the bell,pound on doors and windows,sat in car honking horn right at office doors.they will not get up.now try and get your money's back for not staying in room you paid for.lolol.let me know in the comments how that goes for you..... Very pleasant stay here last weekend. The fellows at the desk are nice and want you to have a good experience. My room was clean and spacious. Plenty of fluffy towels and good water pressure in the shower. Though it was cold outside, the easy-to-use heater kept my room very comfortable. They have coffee and sweet rolls in the morning, but there is also a very good donut shop next door that opens at 5 a.m. Fresh Start Cafe, open at 8 a.m., is walking distance, serves a nice breakfast. I can also recommend Lucky Nails, just down the street, for a manicure. Also, across the street is the John Muir Mansion and Gardens state park, definitely worth your time. read more

I've stayed in plenty of Super 8's in my travels and this one has to rank as one of the best. The room had been recently remodeled and even had a 42" plasma. I like that there's no carpet, which can get really gross in motels and always has some sort of mystery stain no matter how often it's cleaned. Check in was fast and friendly and the room was nice and quiet, even on a Saturday night. read more

I came into town on May, 28th 2022 to attend Bottlerock in Napa. I had originally booked a room at Quality Inn right next door to this Super 8. Upon my check in at Quality Inn, I had nothing but a terrible experience from the moment that I walked onto the property.... so I decided that I did not want to stay there. I came over to this Super 8 and I spoke to Rocky. I explained my situation from next door and he was very sympathetic and compassionate regarding my concerns. Rocky went ubove and beyond to get me a room. He didn't have anything available at the exact moment that I went in, so he took my name and number and got to work. Within a hour and a half he called me with the good news, that he had a room cleaned and ready for me. A nice clean room that I could feel comfortable in at that!!! Nice rate break for week long stays, rooms are older and a little worn but clean and and management has always been friendly and helpful. Called to get a room at 1130 at night on Labor Day weekend after finding out our original hotel accommodations were unsafe. (Discovery inn in Ukiah) The price was affordable for the area, 141$ total for one queen bed. Facilities were very clean. Had everything we needed. This place is well tended to, you can tell. The front office staff were kind and accommodating. They had a small continental breakfast, my kids liked the cinnamon rolls and the lady taught my 7 year old how to use a microwave. As we were leaving we witnessed the staff sweeping the walls, again impressed with cleanliness.It is right across the street from John Muir's home and some beautiful rolling hills which are neat to observe. I must say the cleanest nicest room I have ever been in. They have recently renovated the rooms. The owners very nice and personable. I had the non smoking king size bed room with a Jacuzzi (although I did not use the Jacuzzi) the shower was great. You can adjust the height and type of spray. The bed was very comfortable. Flat screen TV, fridge and microwave. All new. Everything worked. Will definitely stay there again. read more
