    Crash pad in Martinez Ca
    Mike P.

The family that operates this motel has put the mo' in motel. Bottled water and breakfast pastries in the room for no extra charge, complimentary ear plugs if you want solitude. I didn't find the place to be excessively noisy, but like all motels you're never far from the roadway, so if you're a restless sleeper then the ear plugs would be handy. The rooms have a huge closet, I mean you could fit a crib inside if traveling with a baby like your husband. I turned our closet into a man cave for the night! The rooms are nicely remodeled and they bathroom is very nice. Many hotels are doing away with those little bottles of shampoo and soap. There are nice big shampoo and soap dispensers in the shower. Rooms have a small fridge and microwave too and the obligatory Mr Coffee style drip machine. Oh yeah the toilet has that old fashioned paper wrapper that says it was sanitized for your protection. I took it home for the novelty. You'll enjoy staying here - we certainly did!

    Cool original neon signage

After the day from hell traveling, I was just wanting to get off the road and rest. Booked online while traveling there was easy enough, and my very late arrival (1 am) was not a problem either. As I rounded the corner the neon signage was a beacon of hope in the dead of night. This is a very cool old school motor inn with parking at the door. This vintage motel is clean and comfortable, my room was modern and updated (all plugs have USB ports) with all new fixtures in the bath area. Free wifi worked well. My room #2, was very nicely appointed, laminated flooring throughout, a very comfortable king bed, two sitting chairs and a small table seating area, a decent sized work desk and chair, along with the usual coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave and flat screen tv. Nice modern bathroom and shower, with plenty of hot water for my shower, cool raised bowl sinks and modern fixtures and good oversized towels (not the usual small thin ones) and nicer quality than most. Check out was a breeze and I was on my way again, feeling better than when I arrived. This is a neat little family owned and operated motel, and a very reasonable price for the area. The owners kind and friendly. 4 Stars - a good value and choice for the area and I will return next time there, recommended. 00488

Came about 1 months ago, lifted the sheets and saw a big period stain, asked to get another room but just gave new sheets. Decided to try it again one month later just to get disappointed again. Ants all over the tub, he did not want to give us another room, Ownr came in and sprayed ant killer. What made it worse he just left them dead their for us to clean??? Didn't give us a refund either, NEVER AGAIN , unprofessional

Oh WOW!!!! So I made a booking online. I thought the booking was for that very night, it turned out it was for the next night, as I'm told when I arrive by the "owner" and "supervisor" who refused to give me his name. When I said, okay, that's fine, will you please help me cancel it? His response was- literally- "I don't want to." No I'm not kidding he really said that, more then once. When I, in total shock, tried to explain that I need to speak to his manager, the phone rang. He put his hand up in a "talk to the hand" motion, and I STOOD THERE FOR UPWARDS OF FIVE MINUTES WHILE HE TALKED, AND CARRIED ON A CONVERSATION IN A TOTALLY FOREIGN LANGUAGE. I was absolutely shocked. As a matter of fact, five minutes is a very conservative amount of time. It was more like seven to eight minutes, possibly a tad longer, but let's call it five minutes just to be fair. So, while I was waiting, I figured out all on my own how to cancel my reservation. I would have had time to walk across the street, get a drink, and come back. When he finally got off the phone, I asked him to speak to a manager. He clearly, deceptively answered to me he is the owner and manager. When I asked for his first name, he literally, again said "I dont want to" (tell you). I was so absolutely shocked, confused, and put off by this mans behavior, I did something I thought I would never in my life do. I said, okay, so here's what's going to happen now. I'm going to take out my phone, and begin recording your treatment of me. If you would like to see the video- please search Martinez Lodge Alhambra on YouTube. It needs to be seen to believed. I usually stay at the Hilton, and let me tell you I am a proud Hilton Honors member. I regret ever attempting to go somewhere else. The way this man treated me was an absolute nightmare. Again, it needs to be seen to be believed. Please search Martinez Lodge Alhambra on Youtube to see for yourself, and, at all costs, do not come here.

We are staying here now and checking out in the morning and I absolutely love this place!!! It looks like a old time 50s motel outside but very clean and on the inside it is beautiful and updated and clean! They even have a cute little complimentary breakfast in your room and a coffee pot and bottled water! The bathrooms were very clean and all around we are happy here! The front office is clean and the gentleman that checked us in was friendly and polite!! I am so satisfied and I will definitely be returning!!! Excuse my dirty window on my car!

Possibly showered in shit, who knows?

I go in the bathroom to investigate, and find a cockroach as big as my hand just wiggling around on the shower curtain. As my wife puts some clothes on pleading to leave this place, I make my way to the office where I find it impossible to get a hold of anyone. I'm ringing the bell, dinging the door, yelling "HELLO?!" .... NOTHING. Literally TEN minutes of this with NO help. I had to track down the housekeeper and show her a picture and ask her "is this normal here?!" Catherine the housekeeper came to our rescue but had to spray bug spray all over the bathroom to catch the bug, which is when the desk clerk who was "NOT a manager" finally came out of the office . When i mentioned a direct refund, he quickly offered to switch rooms, but retracted the offer once Catherine came out with the shower curtain wrapped up with the bug in it. "So you guys are good then right?" The desk clerk insisted. "No. I'm not. I would like a refund" I said. He quickly dismissed my request with a timid unfulfilled promise of an disclosed "substantial" discount for our troubles. My wife did NOT feel comfortable enough to use the bathroom for the remainder of the visit, and quite frankly neither was I. Also the desk clerk promised us once the room was clean post check out, our $100 deposit would be swiftly refunded into my account which has not happened yet either. Two nights=$180 Unreturned Deposit=$100 Discount=$0 If I could rate 0 stars I would.

My friends and relatives who've stayed there have really liked both the Inn itself and the associated Cafe at the Inn, which provides your choice of scrumptious breakfasts from a creative menu, ranging from locally sourced bacon and eggs to basics like pastries and avocado toast to more creative fare (again, locally sourced as much as possible). They've found it a beautiful, relaxing, reasonably priced place to simply hang out in the morning, with those delicious breakfasts (included in the rates) and in-room coffee adding extra value. Its location a half-block off of First Street, Benicia's main drag with lots of shops, galleries, restaurants, a couple of musical venues and a bit of history (including California's capital building from the mid-19th century, with guided tours on certain days), etc., offers a good base to take walks or runs around town and along the nearby waterfront. Big kudos to owners/hosts Tracee and Dennis, to Chef Kyle and to the rest of the staff. In addition to very pleasant, nicely decorated, comfortable rooms, the Inn also features two pretty, partly shaded garden areas: one just for the Inn's guests, the other for the Cafe. Room: Beach Primrose, 3rd floor. (I wish more people…read moreidentified their room.) I stayed here last year for a long weekend. I love this hotel, but it's not without its quirks. I gave it as many as four stars because everything was clean and I love the character, including the marginally-dilapidated atmosphere, the ancient "lift" (can't really call it an elevator). If you want a slick, polished experience, choose a different lodging. Maybe the "Inn at Benicia Bay" down the street; I had breakfast there one morning and it looked very posh. But if you want a piece of history, I am passionate about the Union Hotel. Things to note before you take it on: The management is notoriously hard to get in touch with before your stay. While you're here, there's someone at the desk during the day within limited hours. But don't expect any contact or action at night. Don't expect calls back. Their late-check-in process was a little nebulous in terms of explanation before the fact, but worked out really well. I came up with adult children and needed an extra bed, but never got any closure on my requests. Not to worry, there were a couple of rollaways in the corner of the hallway with the housekeeping materials so everything worked out well. We tried the jacuzzi tub, and although it started up OK, we immediately regretted it because it sounded like you were right next to a 747 taking off. Then we discovered it wouldn't shut off! I called the after-hours number but didn't get a response. Finally we found a GFI outlet opposite the sink and if we tripped it with the Test button, it shut off the Jacuzzi! That was the only real problem we had. The room was nice and roomy, and even though it was one of cheapest rooms, it had a nice couch and coffee table for meals and activities. Great view from the 3rd floor overlooking the side street and the bay over to the side. The bed is so plush in the Beach Primrose (as of 2025), they have a little stepstool at the foot for you to climb up. If you're marginally athletic you can hop up on it from the side. All in all, very comfy. The town is great. Lots of good food, including the bar/restaurant on the ground floor. Doordash and Ubers available in town, too. Very restful weekend. Read the history on a section of their web site and other accounts of Benicia and Vallejo. Amazing stories, including the fact that it was the site of the State Capitol for a year or so. Lots of ghosts in this town, including in this hotel. You can feel her in the walls and halls. I'm coming back soon to get to know it more.

The portions were pretty good. If coming here for food I'd recommend getting here early since food trucks have limited capacity. You're welcome to stroll around the property both the flower farm and the inn side before or after your meal. The parking situation is a gravel lot. So it may not be the most handicap accessible place. We had a lot of fun stopping by Park Winters. They were setting up for a wedding so the inn side would have been closed for the event starting at 1pm. The check also came with a small map of the property for you to keep. This was very helpful in exploring the property. The only caveat is this is the countryside. Wear long pants or be prepared with insect repellent! Even at 10am in the summer my legs were bitten by mosquitoes. (Type O blood. Mosquito magnet here.) I'd like if they burned some citronella candles to help with mosquitoes. The rest of the dining venue was so thoughtfully designed including timed misters (like at theme parks) to help keep the area cool. Definitely check it out if you're curious or in the area.
