The lot is not clean. The one-room spaces small. Rust, caulk and the fridge not cold. My lock was blocked by a shampoo bottle, so somebody could crawl in and stay for free (the bolt would not lock the door). Scrawny front desk boy told me to leave the lobby in the morning! Average motel. We had an issue with the tv. Wasn't working but they had a lady come up and switched it out and no problems after. Our next door "neighbor " was a little strange. The room I got was dirty and dusty, mold on shower curtain, toilet top is a part of the counter (?), bed covers were covered with a layer of dust that I wiped with my finger (!?!). Environment is flimsy and tenants are in constant movement all night. I didn't even bother to complain because it was so bad - only option I could see was to go somewhere else and I was too tired to deal with it. So I slept with my clothes on and covered bed with jacket, hopefully I don't get some crazy bacteria from shower that has a curtain with mold on it. When I called to do my check out- as no one answered in the office at almost 7am- clerk got upset with me for not telling him all that and hung up the phone with me- not professional . I can't say enough great things about this hotel! If you're looking to shack up with someone you just met at a bar at 4:30 AM, if you're looking to cut up some product, or to simply reel in from a drunk and rest your weary bones on stained sheets, a side table with fresh, greasy fingerprints, a broken clock radio and a couch that looks as though someone dumped peanut butter, chocolate, fried chicken and mashed potatoes on it, this is your dream getaway! What can we say? We are kind and forgiving folks who loves and serves the Lord with all our hearts and souls and we prefer not to mention bad business if possible. . However I'm also a firm believer that the traveling consumers & business professionals cruising through Monticello whether your on I-94 or Hwy 25 should HEED WARNING!!! When considering staying or booking a conference at the Super 8 by Wyndam in Monticello, MN. Never in my life have I ever had 1 of my business associates experience such and uncomfortable time and be so disrespected with any hotel we have ever stayed in many of our travels. I personally know this man and his bride inside and out. They are very kind people with honor and serve the Lord. I learned their room had damage throughout the walls missing paint and the shower had issues. They were offered the conference room for a fee which they intended to pay faithfully and the afternoon clerk said it was only a $100.00 deposit needed and would be returned providing the room was cleaned. He cleaned it so well he even took out the garbage that was like the length of a football field. The night staff sisters were so rude and too busy searching their text messages on their cell phone to help the customers including my partners. I could go on and on. But enough is enough to say.. Right? However my partners did give fantastic reviews of 3 staff members. He said Kathy, Theresa, & Gina were the most friendliness, helpful and sweetest. With that being said. Girls, I'm a million dollar business owner. Seek employment with a company who has a 5 star hotel mindset who actually takes time to understand his clients instead of insulting them. My partner shared their after stay Super 8 email communications with myself and after reviewing them I have learned with Super 8 by Wyndam Monticello owner Chad DOES NOT Listen or support his customers. The way Chad the so called part owner & his front desk employees or whoever was responding to my partners emails should be ashamed of themselves and seriously seek forgiveness. This place is an absolute pit. It smells of mold. The carpets are stained and dirty. Everything is shabby. The plastic sink is covered with cigarette burns. The first room they gave us was filled with bugs. read more

This is by far the most disgusting place I have ever stayed in. I asked specifically for a non smoking room. The room reeks of cigarette smoke, there are cigarette burns on the sink, on the pillowcase and shower curtain. The bedding is stained and ripped and it doesn't look like they wipe down the surfaces in the room. Do not waste your money staying there. I only gave it one star because I had no choice. read more

We paid $130 to stay at this dump. Burn holes in the sheets, chipped fixtures, some druggie knocking on the wrong door woke us up at 8 am and there were used drug needles all over the parking lot. By far the worst experience I have ever had. To start the room is absolutely filthy. Carpets not vacuumed, mirrors dirty, walls , floor, hole in the bathroom wall. Smelled Smokey, couch and floor were loaded with stains . Also after running out I came back to find my 8lb dog completely petrified, it was alarming to me, the dog goes everywhere with our family including every vacation. I wanted to leave based on the filth initially but it was close to our location and pet friendly. I started to look at my bags and stuff wondering if they had been opened and still observing my dogs odd behavior , when I looked across the room and noticed a space heater plugged in and in my room. It was NOT there when I arrived and nothing was discussed about a heater. The dirty wall one worked fine. We immediately decided we wouldn't stay the night, we had almost a two hour ride ahead of us but I was not staying in that hotel. I went to the office to return key and question the man about entry to my room without permission as my personal belongings were in there. He stumbled all over his words, saying housekeeping told them earlier the heater was broken so he wanted us to be warm. When we got back. When I left I even left the fan in because of the foul smell in there. He started yelling that I had a dog and I needed to pay a fee because it's not a pet room, when I booked through Expedia I had a pet friendly room and when I first arrived and the man questioned me what brought us to town I had said it was nice to be so close to our destination and be pet friendly. My dog gets groomed more times in a months then those dirty rooms get cleaned. I left and requested a refund via Expedia and the hotel has declined saying I violated policy? Are you kidding. I should have callled the cops . The man is a liar, stated he called me , he didn't nor did I receive a message. It's scary to read other reviews about entry of the room and crack pipes and drug deals. What an awful awful experience. I have personally called the hotel 5/6 times today trying to speak to management or owner and no response . Please don't even consider staying here read more

I gave this hotel 3 stars because although a little overpriced, it definitely served its purpose. After attending a concert in the middle of hurricane Irene at Bethel Woods, we decided it would be wise to spend the night rather than try to drive through the eye of the storm to get back home (Pittston, Pennsylvania). This Super 8 was the closest motel we found with vacancies. The room was small, and in my opinion overpriced, but at the time we needed a safe, CLEAN place to spend the night and this definitely met our needs. Definitely not a mind blowing experience, but if you are passing through town and need a nice clean room to spend the night this place would work just fine. read more

Clean enough and ok considering this is a weird ghost town area and we didn't expect much. Big complaint is, as we were leaving, the cleaning lady YELLED at us from down the hall, as we packed up our car "you better have left us a tip!!" I feel badly that they obvs do hard work and don't get paid enough (I'm guessing), but this is RUDE and tacky. They should provide envelopes in each room gently reminding guests that tips are appreciated. Rooms had clean sheets, fridge, showers ok Etc. Very nice front desk (manager? We were pleasantly surprised by our stay. There are some really bad reviews on here which makes sense because you can't please everyone. We stayed here because we had somewhere to go in town nearby. About 2 hours from NYC our room was beautiful and had an amazing giant picture of the city right above our bed. We both were like wow so nice! And the bedding was pretty too. I took a nice bath and it was super clean. I used the shampoo soap they had and it actually was a nice bubble bath. Some of the hotel was a bit old but it's expected w a cheaper motel price. We only stayed one night and I forgot to take a pic of the pretty room! I wish I had! Only thing I would suggest is a desperate mini shampoo instead of the dual shampoo conditioner combo. $140 plus tax for a Saturday night. Pros: Close to Bethel Woods. Decent parking Yoo Hoo in the vending machine. Clean Bathroom Clean Bed Cons: Overpriced. You can't take breakfast out of the lobby (not that I got to have any because I woke up around 10.) In a not so nice area? (Hard to tell, it really looked like a dump when you first come in!) - Would be nice to have bigger signage. I think I'll stay at the Best Western not that far down the road next time. read more

I am giving this place a 2 star only because it was pet friendly and I needed the room last minute...that being said worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The room smelled and looked like it had never been cleaned, (see the pictures I have attached). The door to the room was warped because you could see a significant amount of daylight through the door let alone the winter wind cut right through it. There was hot water for a show however I only had around 7 minutes until it became cold and the bathroom was filthy including grime in the tub. The beds were like sleeping on the ground and the blankets were like an adorable 80 grit sandpaper. read more

Stayed at this hotel overnight when passing through town. When I booked it online, I had accidentally selected smoking room when I should've selected non-smoking. When I arrived and realized my error, the manager changed my room last minute without any penalty. Based on the reviews online, I was worried about the state of he rooms, but they must've been recently updated because they were clean and new. Only complaints would be that the bathroom was a little outdated and that the hotel claims to have free breakfast, which was not true, when we went to check at 9:30, nothing was out but coffee and even the orange juice machine was broken. Overall, we got what we paid for in addition to excellent customer service. read more

This hidden gem we found driving through Monticello, it looked very pleasant from the outside, it started snowing very heavy so we needed a place to stay, we checked out The Best Western but were not impressed at all. We were greeted right away as soon as we walked into this hotel. Got a room right away, the room looked like it's been recently updated, nice and clean, and smelled fresh. For a small town, we were impressed. Definitely recommend this place for anyone staying or driving through this town. The free breakfast is always a plus, and was an added bonus. read more

I'm here now, and I can't wait till morning to leave. Just needed to hang my hat for the night. The thick spectacled Indian lady behind the glass box took 5 minutes to come out to the lobby, gave me attitude right out of the gate so I grabbed the card (27 degrees overnight) and drove toward my second floor room. Dirty, unappealing and shady room and hotel. Wham my card did not open the door I had to go back now to get a free lip about card usage. Card usage??? There is a trick to hotel cards now? They demagnetize if you slide it this way and not that way? And it's my fault - I didn't ask? "I am now teaching you how to use this card"???! Are you f****** kidding me with this? Just because your family owns this roach motel doesn't make you a big shot. Never ever will I stay at this dirt hole again. This motel is convienient if you need a place to stay after a concert at Bethel Woods Art Center but beware, it is not the cheapest or cleanest. I stayed on July 18, 2009. I was charged $130 for the night and the room was yuk. I was desparate so I stayed. The carpet is old and smelly. The bedspread didn't look like it was changed between customers. I found two hairs in the bedding. Management should do better to make the rooms seems cleaner and smell better. read more

Actually just came back today after spending Christmas Eve with some family members. It's a very quiet area which is awesome. The rooms are right outside. Staff was very friendly and answered every question with out any attitude. Bed room was good. Clean sheet clean towels and clean carpet. Everything was functional the TV, wifi, microwave, fridge, also the shower just in case. I really do like this place and will be coming back when ever I'm up there again. read more

I thought this town looked economically depressed. However, the hotel seems to be trying to make improvements, based on other reviews. We stayed here to attend a festival at Bethel Woods. If you just need a bed and a bath, it's ok but I would't stay here again. The room was small but clean. I was up early getting coffee and the manager asked me what room I was staying in & my name. I felt a little offended. Do I look like a crackhead in my Cookie Monster pajamas wandering in at 6am to steal coffee? You lose a star for that insult to my dignity. This motel was originally the Redwood Motel, then a Ramada Limited, now a Super 8 Motel.

Unfortunately, the room they rented us for the night had a door that refused to close and lock. You could even see into the room through the door jam. [We felt unsafe.] We asked for another room and the manager (Nat Gajipara) started to give us the "run around". Finally we were issued another room. Also, the Internet speed was terribly slow. The property as a whole is also in poor repair so watch your step! If you have to stay here more than one night, think twice... read more

I stayed here to visit friends and we took our dog, it's pet friendly, that's why we chose this motel. The management was very friendly, the room was clean although it did smell a little musty and it's what you'd expect for the price. I got a cheap deal on expedia. The walls of the hotel are a little thin, so we could hear some strange noises coming from the room next door. But overall it served it's purpose. read more
