One night stay after attending concert at Bethel Woods. Staff was pleasant upon arrival. Stayed on second floor. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Small toilet/ shower stall room, with sink and mirror in main room. Air conditioner was sufficient. Breakfast area had seating for 20 people and I was able to get a table. Waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels and breads, cereal, etc were available and included with stay. Nothing fancy . There were guests just hanging out longer than necessary at tables, causing patrons to walk back to their rooms with a plate of food and drink. (8:30-9:00am) Overall, I was pleased with my stay. read more

If I could give this hotel a zero stars, I would. I have had great experiences in the past, but this is the last time I will stay at a Best Western after being totally ignored by the manager, Amber. Here's what happened: I have tried for 2 weeks to get in touch with their management after our room flooded with toilet, shower, and sink water in the middle of the night several times. We had to help the overnight desk person haul buckets of dirty water to our shower so that the rug in our room didn't completely flood and ruin our belongings, so at 12:30am, 4am, and 7am we were wide awake with dirty water running into our room. Due to the nasty nature of the water, our shower was filthy and we couldn't use our sink because it was full of water. We had to brush our teeth in the public bathroom and could not shower at all. The ON THE GROUND staff that day were very apologetic and nice to us-they told me when we were leaving after we gave up trying to sleep and checked out early that they'd have the manager call us to follow up. Amber not only didn't call to talk with me, but went on vacation three days later and left her fill-in Kat to deal with me. By that point, after being extremely patient waiting for days for a call, I called and was told that they would not refund any of my money but would give me a $50 gift card. That's not only insulting, but doesn't help me address the problem at all being charged for a room that was basically totally unusable for sleeping or relaxing. I called corporate and they also took several days to get back to me. I was in the area and was looking for a place to stop on my road trip. I'm glad I came across this place. I checked in late. There is always someone at the front desk, at all hours. That was very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. And, they have breakfast at the hotel, too. The whole building smelled like pancakes, which was great to wake up to. read more

No, you are not getting the Ritz Carlton, but this was a very nice motel, at a very decent price. Everybody in the staff was friendly and helpful. The motel is only about 5 minutes from town, and about 10 minutes from resorts world. If you need supplies, there is a Walmart in town, there is a dollar tree, an Aldi, and other shopping as well. There are plenty of good restaurants. I highly recommend Tilly's diner, two doors down, as well as the Miss Monticello diner, downtown. We had the handicapped accessible room. The room was very large, and spotless. The bathroom was also very large and spotless. The TV got a good picture, there was a decent sized fridge and a microwave, and the beds were very comfortable. There is a desk available for either working or eating The Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream video, although occasionally, it would bog down a bit. There is a guest Laundry at a decent price, and also a very good hot breakfast in the morning. We ended up staying for multiple days. There were a few minor things that ended up taking off a star. First of all, they say, the room was handicapped accessible but it was not as accessible as it could have been. There was no "bath bench" to sit on, and no handheld shower. Only a standard showerhead. There was a small. shelf in the tub, but it was too small to use as a seat. . I was able to take regular showers, my partner had to hand wash. Also while there are plenty of grab bars, the bathtub had no. Bath mat to stand on, so the bathtub was a little bit slick. You have to be very careful. The other thing was, there is an indoor pool, but it was too cold to use. Also, there is a sauna. You have to heat it up for at least a half hour. I did, but it still was barely hot after the half hour. I just ended up not using it. Saying all that, we will definitely stay here again. I highly recommend getting the Best Western app and signing up for Best Western rewards. You can earn points toward discounts and free stays, and they also "status match" with other hotel chains. We reserved a room with a king; they gave us a queen. We asked why and they said that as a matter of policy, they don't bother honoring commitments made at reservation time. Poor Management decisions and no corporate backup. So much for Brand Loyalty. I had gotten tickets to a large festival in the area for early May, so I booked a room here in January. The festival ended up being canceled (how often does that happen?), and although I contacted the hotel in February, they refused to refund my reservation. So, ...does one really think that they could not rebook my room within 3 months??? The most gracious they got was giving me a 15-day extension. There was nothing going on in the area during that time and it's an almost 3-hour drive one way for me to get there. I was polite in asking, there were obviously very unusual circumstances involved and I really don't understand why they couldn't bend and give me a longer extension time so that I could make the best use of my 6-hour drive there and back by attending some other local event = Happy Customer. So, I lost out $277.43. I would certainly never book there again if I'm ever in the area and frankly, Best Western can go pound sand. It's definitely a bummer but honestly when you have a polite customer, Brand Loyalty & a freak circumstance - with plenty of notice to be able to re-book, why WOULDN'T you want to give that client a break AND make them happy? read more

I booked this room because it was the best location for me visiting my family after a sibling having a child. Upon check-in, I was asked for my credit card in my ID without even being told what the charges were. I also was told that I had to do $150 deposit which was not told to me on the phone It was told to me on the phone that there was no deposit. I leave out of my room for some time to spend time with my family because I did not plan to spend much time in this room. I come back Saturday evening, maybe 11 PM and one of the workers Asked me if I have a dog I said yes I brought my dog in to be sold, but the dog would not stay here. She then tells me that "they" Charged you a $50 pet fee I said if there's a pet fee that's fine but I wasn't told that and I would rather if somebody had to come knock on my door call me or said something at check in in there's cameras everywhere rather than charge my card so this raised a red flag I called the customer service number because I need to now get more information. My dog was seen in the kennel. You cannot hide a kennel when I reached out to the one 800 number she called the hotel to find out they do not allow pets. I said OK so if they do not allow pets, why wasn't I told that and why was my card charge for something that I didn't agree to why didnt someone knock on my door to tell me, I could not have the dog in there. I just want to say that the puppy is not even a pound yet. It was then told to me that it was known that I had a dog because housekeeping went into my room on Saturday during we left out at 10am the day I checked in on Friday close to midnight per Covid new regulations the room is not to be cleaned if there is not a three or more days at booking. If you do enter the room it's UPON REQUEST. I did not request for housekeeping to be in my room at no point of my stay. Furthermore, they did not even make the bed what did they really go in there for?? To STEAL! stole my Charger to my work phone as well as my personal phone and stole my 12 year-old daughters iPhone charger as well. Whomever went entered my room, went to snoop and steal as if I had something to hide what they found was a pee pee pad in the bathroom that wasn't even used because the puppy did not spend time in the room. Whoever you were, you're a bum that you could not go buy your own cell phone chargers. The story gets better the Manager there whose name apparently is Amber left a note stating that I had a party at this location and had words with her and did not pay to have a part. I would never choose Best Western to party at any time. It's not a preferred hotel for me as it is not up-to-date, the people that do book there are crackheads the people that work there are not trustworthy and thieves so I would never choose this place to celebrate anything. I asked the young lady Jessica, who was working Sunday early if she can go on my account and find it to where I booked a room here and that I was flagged, she said she could not find any booking for me and the one booking that came was older than one year. Which noted nothing about me being a problem renting at this location. This woman simply judged me based off of the fact that I reminded her of somebody that she had an issue with at this hotel not facts!! I drove from Charlotte, North Carolina. I don't know this woman that works at best Western. Furthermore, I'm not confrontational to have issues with anybody out of state. because there is so many people who I know personally or knows my mother that works at this location personally, I don't feel safe with my credit card information being stored and charged. I don't trust my character and integrity was questioned and I don't appreciate it. It's a conflict of interest and now I'm going to reach out to a lawyer all because you all are Shady and I will get to the bottom of it. I don't appreciate being treated based off an assumption, and I will take it as far as I can simple. If you need a place to stay on your way upstate, and you don't want to pay through the nose to stay at the Resorts Casino, than this place will meet your expectations. This location is 10 minutes from the main part of town and it's about the same to the casino. I wouldn't bank on Uber up here or a shuttle so if you plan on having a few cocktails, you may want to plan accordingly and designated a driver. Keep in mind, the place is no 5 star resort. As quaint and nice as it was there were a few faults that I have to point out. We booked a room with a King bed. I have to say that I was not too thrilled with the room the actually placed us in. Our reservation was up on the second floor and we were directed to go up the stairs. What we were not aware of was that our room was literally located at the top of the stairs. This is where most of the traffic with other visitors would walk by. You could hear a lot of what was happening outside our room. In any case, the room was huge! It also had a couch and a nice size flat screen TV. It was clean, but there was this strange odor. It wasn't bad, it was almost like pancake syrup. We chalked it up to it coming from the heat. Other than that, the room itself was pretty standard. The room would have been great if the bathroom was better situated. Upon entering the room the bathroom was on your left. A sink was outside a separate room which housed the tub, which took up most of the space, and a toilet. There wasn't much room to move in that bathroom. If you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night you and have to wash your hands, you're in pretty much the same room your fellow guest is sleeping in. Not very convenient. Finally, I have to say the staff was very friendly and nice. They made a point to welcome us and let us know about the continental breakfast. Unfortunately, I slept in and didn't get to experience this breakfast but it smelled awesome (no it wasn't the syrupy smell that was initially in our room). read more

3-1/2 stars because we enjoyed our stay here the staff were friendly & accommodating & our room was nicely cleaned. Negative: We had a balcony but the floor was filthy really not unusable kinda depressing. There is a really small tiny pool which is nice but there are only ladders, no pool steps, to enter it...bummer! The Big disappointment tho was the condition of their gym - After a long ride I was excited about using it, however, Everything, like every single piece of equipment were broken- Nothing worked in that gym. Not that there's much there...one bike (broken plug), one treadmill (error code) one climber(error) & then some free weight's. Next time I inquire prior. The complimentary breakfast is a nice touch! A staple to this hotel chain but kno it is short lived & over at 9am. The location is in the heart of town with some good places to eat, even late...bonus! read more

This hotel is one of the better hotels I stayed in lately. Clean , great service, great attitude at counter or on the phone and very pleasant employees. Room cleaning is daily and staff is super friendly and informative. Breakfast is on time and the coffee is available 24/7 , also vending machines (water too). Pool and sauna are indoor so super comfy at bad weather. Parking is big and easy. Close to everything I needed on my repeated visit. Lobby is comfortable and inviting. Compared to other best westerns around the USA this one is in the top so far. I wish the owners and workers the best as your doing great read more

Yikes. Disaster from start to start. We arrived. The room reeked of pot. My daughter was not comfortable and she was right. We asked for a different room. Tasha, the woman behind the desk for a different room. She rolled her eyes at me. Put the word pot in air quotes then did nothing to help me. We found another room at another hotel. I asked for a refund. She said only Expedia could issue a refund. That was a lie. I called Expedia and they said only the hotel could issue a refund. Lies. Unprofessional behavior. Taking the thoughts of this incompetent desk person about whether a refund was appropriate. Should be called worst western. I hope someone with authority sees this and addresses the quality control issue at this dump. read more

Located right outside of town off 17b. Clean and comfortable. Sink located outside the bathroom. TV has plenty of stations although I could not get Wimbledon. Refrigerator , microwave and coffeemaker in room. In between Bethel woods and Casino ( if u are into that). My family and I stayed at the Best Western in Monticello a few weeks ago. While most of the stay was perfectly fine (or at least as-advertised), a pipe burst on the last night we were there and made the water unusable. In fact, the hot water had the color of Coca-Cola. After being told it would be fixed within an hour or so, it ended up not being fixed by the time we checked out the next day. As a result, we had to brush our teeth with bottled water and some in my party refused to shower or even wash their faces (being worried about health issues). We also were not comfortable eating the included breakfast, being worried that the water would have been used for the coffee and eggs. When we asked the front desk about it the next morning (when the water now resembled cream soda, not Coca Cola), we were told that this was a Monticello-wide issue. This was not true, however, as confirmed by (1) Best Western's customer service team today, and (2) the breakfast place we went to because we could not use the facilities. While pipes bursting can happen, the reason for the review is that Best Western Monticello refused to refund the cost of that one night. Instead, they offered an $11 AAA discount. This is simply inexcusable customer service and, as a result, I will no longer stay at any Best Western hotel. read more

Hotel was clean, breakfast was alright. The location isn't bad. Staff is friendly. Watch your belongings. Our jewelry and money were stolen from our room. We are not the only guests this has happened to. There is no safe in the room. There are NO cameras or security in parking lot. The cameras in the hallway only hold six days of recordings on someone's cell phone. There are no security measures for your room door, anyone can use a keycard to go in your room and they can't tell who or when. The owners were non-respondent. I know there's not too many options for a decent stay so watch your stuff. read more

This is not a fancy, expensive hotel. It was inexpensive at $150. But the people were very friendly and gracious. Check in was easy despite being 3 hours early. The room was super clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and even the pillows were great. It was just 11 miles to the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, which is the site of the Woodstock festival from 1969. There isn't much of a selection of hotels in the area, but this is the best among them. Our bathroom was extremely clean. The towels were not the biggest or softest, but they were good enough. The continental breakfast was pretty decent. I enjoyed making waffles and the coffee was good, too. Again, the dining area and food prep area were immaculate. I've been to some outstanding hotels in my travels. This wasn't one of them, but it was pretty darned good for the price. That's called value. If you decide to visit Woodstock, stay this hotel. The rooms and amenities at this hotel were better than expected. We were a bit disappointed that the original room we got had a massive leak under the sink, leaving the carpet wet and the room smelling like mildew. It was also adjoining to another room with super loud guests. BUT as soon as we let the desk clerk now, she offered to move our room and worked with us to find one that was quiet and non-adjoining. The beds and bathroom were good enough. The view was actually quite nice with our room facing the trees in the back of the hotel. We'd stay there again if we were in town again. My husband and I stayed in this hotel because we are looking for property upstate New York. We were kind of disappointed with everything except for the people at the desk. The clerk and the management was very helpful but the room was ice cold and we could not control the heat. The bathroom was so cold that I couldn't even shower. We had to walk outside in the rain and up a dimly-lit stairway to get to the room with our luggage because there is no stairs on the inside to go. We went to the breakfast in the morning and it was supposed to be until 11. We got there at 10 and they had to go and get a small amount of food because they already put it away. I wish I could give it a better review because the people were very nice but that's all that we enjoyed from that trip. I'm sorry to say we will never stay there again read more

So far not impressed. For what we are paying for the room it's no better than our much cheaper motel last night. I don't like rooms where the bathroom light switch is outside the door, which is right where this one is. Not only do do we get to wake each in the night turning on a light but the fan is broken and so loud we will get to hear that as well. There's no towel by sick because there's NO TOWEL BAR there. You have to go back the bathroom for that. Does that make sense? The refrigerator is wobbly as only 3 of the feet work. Hopefully it will keep the food cold. Not sure what kind of exciting BK they have but it's only dry cereal, waffles and bagels I'll be writing again. The problem with small town motels is a lack of competition. Accommodations are okay, 2 queen beds, a writing table and chair and a stuffed chair that looks comfy with a foot rest . Perhaps I'll have my morning coffee there. When I looked on trip advisor and other sites this was listed as the best in the area. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights this past weekend and were very pleased with everything. The room was clean. The hotel was very quiet. The pool was more than adequate. The free breakfast was much better than we have experienced at other hotels. So I get there at 8am the women behind the counter says it's so early that she has to charge me an extra $50 for the room so I dont care I'll pay it,so I leave at 4pm the same day and when I check out she says to me that they we have to check the room before you leave which I have never had before. So the women comes back and tells me that I smoked in the room because the bathroom smells like smoke and theres ashes by the window,I said that's strange I dont smoke and never have and how would the bathroom smell but not the whole room,I told her to come smell me and even to search my stuff and if she found and cigarettes I'll pay the fee but she wouldn't move from the desk. She was very rude and disrespectful the whole time,all I did was go in the room and sleep then leave never touched the other bed, shower or towels so for them to say that to me was very rude I will never go back I wouldn't recommend that place to anyone,all that tells me is that the ashes she found in the window was from someone else and they never cleaned it. read more

I was in town for two nights on business, this hotel is over priced, and the hotel is in need of a major uplift. The breakfast was so so, milk was warm, and not much else was good either. The morning I left we had an ice storm the night before, the parking lot was not plowed or salted. If I have to travel to this area again, I will stay in a different town. There's an old saying "you get what you pay for". Two buddies and myself took a road trip through New York and as a rule stayed at Hampton Inns and did so the first two nights of our excursion. The final day we planed to visit the Bethel Arts Center to do The Woodstock Museum. Not being a Hampton Inn in the area we booked a room at the Best Western. Well besides having a smelly room, a bathroom the size of a sugar cube, a door that would not fully close and a mattress that smelt like coffee, the pool water was the color of a lime Jolly Rancher. Did I mention the guy sitting by the front door trying to light a butt while picking his nose? I didn't even bother to point things out to the front desk clerk. Judging by her attitude she had when we checked in she wouldn't have cared. I leave you with a quote from any classic submarine movie, "Dive.....dive.....dive." Two stars is an EXTREMELY generous rating. It is overpriced and in need of renovating. The staff was friendly. The amenities included a work out room and pool. Well more then half of the equipment was broken in the work out room and the pool was freezing cold. The bathroom in the room looked like it was renovated but the linens and bed look like they hadn't been changed since the late 50's. The bed was so uncomfortable too. The breakfast was so so. For a $200 a night stay it was not really worth it but there aren't really any other places to stay in the area. I will be camping next time. read more

Stayed here earlier this week while taking my first look at the racino. Place looks great from the outside. Inside a different story. Check in was fine. Friendly staff and helpful. However, the key packet I received looked like it had been used 100 times. When I got to my room, the electronic key slot was dirty and old looking. Inside the room, almost everything was good except the wooden bed frame, which had obvious chips. The bed itself was comfortable and I did sleep well. Morning continental breakfast was obscene. Stale mini bagels, warm milk and cereal doesn't cut it. But, it is a 2 minute drive from the racino and track. This is doable for 1 night, not more. read more

This place is filthy. I changed rooms after I found a condom on the floor by the window. In my new room the bed topper was dirty, there were long hairs on the blanket underneath, crumbs on top of the mini fridge, and cigarette burns in the curtains. Booked four rooms for me and my wife and other family members with some trepidation given the reviews, but we were VERY pleasantly surprised by clean well appointed rooms, comfortable beds, nice lobby, very decent continental breakfast and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Even a small business office with a working computer and printer. If you are in the rather remote area, I highly recommend this motel. They have clearly upgraded the facility very recently! read more
