On Oct. 4, 2024, around 4 p.m., my female companion, Sue, and I arrived at the Hampton Inn, Monticello, NY. We were very tired from traveling and just wanted a room. Sue authorized the rate of $207 total for one night, which included all taxes and fees plus a $25 incidental hold. Later, we found out that another room was under my name with hotels.com. I had assumed it did not go through, but apparently it did, and it was at a higher rate of about $260. An employee (Later identified as Kaleigh Ayers) who I believe was the night manager insisted that she check us out of the less expensive rated room we already were in and check us in for the higher rate (for the same room type). When we advised that makes no sense and Sue did not authorize more than the $207 rate, Kaleigh Ayers became more belligerent and argumentative and insisted she check us into the hotels.com rate against our will and without our authorization and without our IDs to check in. I again refused. Note that I was wearing a shirt with gay pride colors.
When I asked for her name, she refused and said she would give me her card. She instead gave me a general Hampton business card (in an angry manner) without her name. I accepted the card from her and said I would be writing a review about this, and we walked out to my car. While in the parking lot, we heard Kaleigh speaking in a loud voice on her phone ( I assume with her supervisor) about how we made two reservations, and one was through expedia, and she was going to check us out of both rooms (one of which was never authorized to check in). I asked her again what her name was, and Kaleigh again refused, while yelling at us in the parking lot in front of other guests. Why I asked why she is threatening to kick us out, Kaleigh claimed I "ripped" the card out of her hand, which is a lie.
Seeing how Kaleigh was unable to control her emotions at her own workplace, in front of other guests, I immediately called Hilton customer service and advised them I wanted to know her name since she was refusing to provide it and threatening to throw us on the street. The representative said her name is Kaleigh and that she spoke with her, and she said we are allowed to stay the night, as planned. Sue and I walked by the front desk, and I said, "Have a nice evening, Kaleigh." Then, in a loud voice, Kaleigh replied, "I'm the reason you're still here!!!" Again, in front of other guests.
We left for a few hours around 645pm and returned around 1230am to discover our room keys were deactivated and all of our belongings were removed from our room and placed in the back office. The rude female working at the desk said in front of other guests that we are no longer allowed on the property that night and not allowed to ever return (as if we would want to). This is after we were advised a few hours earlier that we were indeed staying. When I asked why, she claimed to not know anything but was told that there was an "argument." She threw us out, two females, on the street in an area we are not familiar with, with our belongings, in the middle of the night, with the closest hotel being 30 min away.
This was our first trip to Monticello, NY. To throw out two women, one wearing a gay pride colored shirt, at 1230am after we did nothing wrong but stand up for ourselves and refuse to authorize a false charge, is beyond unprofessional. It is EVIL! It is dangerous. It is unlawful. Neither Sue nor I raised our voices, swore, touched anyone, or were disruptive. All we did was stand up for ourselves when Kaleigh not only tried to falsely charge us, but she escalated the situation by raising her voice and making threats and false claims. She bullied us and embarrassed us in front of others.
After contacting Hilton Corporate, I discovered that Kaleigh Ayers falsely claimed me of being "irate" and "making threats." She is trying to project her own behavior onto me. I have a witness, and I also have some video and audio of that night. Kaleigh Ayers should not be in the hospitality business, nor in a management position, nor should whoever the woman was who threw us out at 1230am. And nor should whoever above Kaleigh authorize our untimely departure. Hampton Inn Monticello failed with their duty of care of us as guests. This hotel is a disgrace to the Hilton name.
UPDATE: Kaleigh responded to this review, but Yelp does not allow a rebuttal. She is continuing to escalate the situation and spread false statements. She has even made up new lies! I have a witness. I also have audio and video. Due to Kaleigh's continued efforts to create a false narrative, I will be taking this further. Also, Sue will soon make a statement and reviews. Again, this is a disgrace to the HIlton brand, and Kaleigh continues to make it worse. read more
