From the outside, it looked fine for the money. I'm not too picky. I just want clean and safe. Once inside the room, I was impressed with the size of the space. Two queens, big bathroom, little fridge but no coffee maker. Good locks on the doors. Once settled in, tried the TV and could not get it to connect to any channels. Had the front desk come up and look at it. They connected the TV to the internet and it worked until he left. I wanted Netflix or anything other than live. Nope. Tried for 20 minutes to get back to live and gave up. No TV. The bathroom was not nice. See pics. This is just basic upkeep and if a towel has a stain, throw it away. Seriously. read more

There were SO many 1 & 2 star reviews everywhere on the internet for this property of how dirty and nasty it is...I was extremely hesitant to have my family stay here in the two rooms I reserved several months ago for my daughter's graduation on 5/11/24 for Tarleton University. I had also made backup reservations at the La Quinta Inn & Suites 30 minutes away in Glen Rose, but didn't really want to drive the 30 miles early the next morning of the ceremony. I could cancel both reservations up till the day before arrival with no charge. My 79-year-old mom is very particular about the cleanliness of a hotel/motel room. She doesn't mind one being old and dated, but certainly won't stay in a dirty, gross place. She immediately checks the sheets after check-in and the bathroom. I wasn't as concerned because my daughter, nephew and I travel to different parts of the country each summer to hike different mountains and canyons. We try to find the cheapest motels...some are kinda dirty while most are just old and need renovating. I called and talked to the manager, Luis, at the Stephenville Super 8 four days before arrival about my concerns of all the negative reviews and how my daughter said it is referred to as the "meth motel". I asked if he could assign me two rooms ahead of time on the upper floor that he personally knew were in decent shape which he did. We arrived at 2:30pm because I wanted to make sure we got there before Luis went home at 3pm. I wanted to make sure we were actually given the rooms he pre-assigned me on the phone four days earlier and that they were actually decent rooms. We were in room #227 with a king bed and couch and room #229 with two queen beds and an over-stuffed chair. The rooms were clean, no weird smells, beds were comfy and cold AC. There were a couple tiny stains on the carpet and one corner tile missing by the bathtub. My tv in #229 had a bad over-exposed picture. I went down to the lobby and told Luis. By the time we got back to our room around that night...there was a new tv was installed. Pool area was spotless where we sat in chairs around a table in the early evening. Lobby was extremely clean. Continental breakfast was juices, coffee, cereals, muffins, etc...nothing special, but good for a quick meal. Even though, it is only a two-story motel...there was an elevator near our rooms making it convenient with luggage. I don't know why all the horrible reviews. It was a clean, budget motel. I usually don't write reviews on a hotel or motel, but I do usually reserve places to stay based on reviews. Bad reviews can really affect people's decisions on where to stay...so, I felt it was important to write my positive experience at the Stephenville, TX Super 8. Of course, I didn't see any other rooms besides ours, but ours were perfectly adequate! My brother stayed the night at the Hampton Inn & Suites (because he's too "uppity") just down the road that he paid $230 for...and, it wasn't that much better. Well they obviously read the other reviews. When we got in the room the AC was blasting to a temp of 69 gloriously cool degrees. And they put a Febreeze car vent clip on the AC to make it smell better. Actually I don't remember a smell at all. The bed seemed something like a temperpedic. The bed and pillow were comfy. I loved the huge picture above the bed. We like to travel, so the picture was something we would see on our travels. Back to the AC -- it really put out the cold air. Had to turn it off at one point because it was too cold. Complaints: bathroom sink had no filter and water went all over the granite when you use the faucet. The bath tub was pretty slick and I did use the grab bar, but I also put a wash cloth in the tub to stand on so I didn't slip. They could have put more (and thicker, fluffy) towels. The elevator seemed to have a mind of its own -- had to coax it to go up and down to the desired floor. read more

Place is not hyped up as the pictures seem, when are the pictures ever real!!!!???? Well the coolest thing here is probably the cat. $120 a night pool is not accessible, chairs and debris in the pool. Shower has mold, furniture is peeling. Hey atleast it is somewhat quiet besides the very load AC units. read more

One room was roach infested, literally hundreds crawling all over the curtains. Not to mention the rancid smoke smell. We had to leave it was absolutely horrible. The roach infested room was 108 just so everyone's clear. read more

I stayed at this Super 8 on an extremely hot day, August 28, 2017. Upon check in, the room was hot and smelled like a skunk. The staff was very polite and moved me to another hot room right above the other one, that wasn't quite as bad. The bed room was OK, and appeared clean, but the bathroom was very dirty and needs remodeling to be acceptable. Ice machines on both levels were broken, and both soda machines were empty. They keep ice in an ice chest behind the counter in the office - terribly inconvenient in such hot weather. I stay at Super 8 Motels frequently, and have to say this has to be one of the lowest quality I've visited. No value seen in the pricing for what you receive. Would not stay here again. read more

Room smelt of cigarettes. Tv remote halfway worked. Tv did not work, screen messed up. They brought us a different tv with the same problem. Carpet stained. Cigarette holes in duvet. The inside of the room door has lipstick/lip prints on it. Gentleman at front desk was very friendly and respectful. We do not recommend and we wont be back. read more

This spot is not the worst but definitely not the best either. The beds are itchy, the furniture is old and broken. The shower is cold. Bathroom tiles are dirty. You must come here, EVERY other hotel in this town SUCKS!!! It's a quiet area, good clean rooms, and very good prices. I stayed here for about a week and they treated me well. I also like the fact that the rooms have a refrigerator and a desk. Not much else I can say other that come try it out for yourself. read more

The only thing that we didn't like was that there was women long black hairs EVERYWHERE, in the bathtub, the couch, the bed, and the towels. Super cute! This Super 8 was perfect for a short stay. The rooms had a mini-fridge, microwave, and 1-cup coffee machine. There is a small pool and other basic amenities. After arriving to my room however I noticed a few minor things, one of my pillows had ink stains and it was not just on the pillow case but the pillow as well. The towels were obviously not checked for quality (a green spot here, a hole there, etc.). Also there were some leftover items from previous guests, a fly swatter, MaryKay makeup, etc. read more

Every time I have been to this hotel the staff and housekeeping have been exceptional. The rooms are always clean. The staff always seems to wait until I pop out to pop in and provide turn down service and refreshing toiletries. I was also very impressed to note that salon quality shampoo was provided. It's a small thing, but to me it makes a difference. I always had a functioning refrigerator in any room I've stayed in and I also was able to connect to WiFi. I have stayed at much more expensive hotels and been much less impressed. Another really cool thing I noted during my stay was that this hotel is pet friendly and the manager will often bring his dog down to play with the other dogs. In summary, I was pleasantly impressed with my stay and will be staying again on future visits to the area. read more

If it was possible to give this a zero rating I would. A group of us with 4 rooms all had issues with each room. The first room we were given wasn't cleaned the sheets and towels were on the floor. Mind you this was at 7:00 pm. The second room they gave us smelled so bad you couldn't stay in it more more than a second. Stains on the carpet and bedding. When I went back down he was even more annoyed and when asked for regular towels his response was we don't have any and would have to get some out of another room. Very so so. Key cards didn't work 50% of the time. Stains on the walls. Beetles, spiders, and other crawly things seen several times over a period of a 2-day stay. In a room with two queens, the beds were made up differently (one lacked an extra thin blanket) and the fitted sheet wasn't very fitted and seemed stretched. The room temp wasn't consistent. Oh, and housekeeping coming to the room and banging on the door at 9:00am is a little early to be disturbing guests. Overall, as I said, very so so. read more

The room was dirty! Stains on the bed cover, carpet, and chair. The light outside our room was out. When i asked to have it replaced i was told that maintenance wouldn't be in until Monday. Customer service is non-existent. Next time I'll sleep in my car....much cleaner. Save your money and misery and stay anywhere else. read more
