Here on 12/13/25. I come here about once a week but this will be my last time here. I'm Sure many others have experienced this. Today I was gonna get the honey back ribs at the deli. Two employees working behind the counter and neither acknowledged me. I stood there for approximately 10 minutes waiting for them to say, I'll be with you shortly. Never happened. I was the only person at the counter. I had already put a case of water in a basket and I walked out of the store. This store needs better management and it would be helpful to have a number system at the deli. Maybe others will fill their basket and walk out. Good luck to shoppers. I will pass the word about their horrible service and I refuse to shop here again as there are other stores in the area with better service. My company uses " spotters" to check on the employees and to get rid of the "weed" employees. It would pay off for this store to do the same. read more

Today I went to this store and I ask a worker do they give quarters and she said the lady at the register will. I get in line to purchase my groceries and she said I don't have any quarters and they don't give quarters. She was so rude and wasn't pleasant at all. I will never go to this store again. The pan dulce is pretty good for a market. They are now 99 cents each. We like to just briefly warm the conchas up at home in the microwave for a few seconds and they are nice and soft. The deli has deals on fried or roasted chicken..we bought 30 pieces for only $23.99. The potato wedges are huge and nicely seasoned. I really did enjoy my time shopping at this place. This was my first time coming to super A foods I didnt want to go to Walmart Because normally they never have enough cashiers and you always have to wait a long time so as I was driving home. I came across this store. I was not disappointed. As soon as you enter the store you can smell the hot food. They have so many options to pick from and everything looks so delicious. I didn't get anything because I picked up stuff because I wanted to cook. I love the variety of things I love the hispanic feel to it. They also have a meat place where they will season the meat for you. Customer service was on point there was plenty of registers open. I didn't have to wait thirty minutes just to be cashed out. Definitely we'll be going to this place. It's very near my work and I really did enjoy my time here. The prices are a little bit more than other stores.... but worth it . First off I want to give props to the male security guard that was there this morning on Christmas Day!! There was a crazy lady causing chaos at the store. I got there when she was outside already and I was scared to go inside the store, the security was keeping an eye on her and watching her every step. My family, my friends and I used to love the flower tortillas from Super A, however, they seem to have changed their recipe because the tortillas are not as good as they used to be. Service is okay, 7/10 times you'll be treated good. Don't really shop for produce here, mostly chips, soda, drinks, and closed packaged goods, their prices are usually really good. There's 4/5 stars in this because a creepy man works here, and made my mom and me feel really uncomfortable with the way he greeted us today. We said hi, but he kept trying to make eye contact with us and saying "how are you doing tonight ladies" louder and louder until I said "okay" and he walked away angrily, mumbling something under his breath. I really like this place for what it is. Nothing more, nothing less. Super A is a discount market targetting mostly Hispanic families. But there were some Asian veggies and specialty items. It's not fancy, in fact it's kind of dumpy. But when I had to kill time working in this area, I stopped in a checked out the place. The specials and Mexican pastires were my favorite things, and left there a happy man. The meat department has some specialty items like tripe and carne asada meat, I think they sell every part of the cow and pig, and many meats you won't find at Albertsons, Ralphs, or Vons. The pastries caught my eye. Some were still warm. It was 3 for $1.99, so I got six. They were fresh, and had good aroma. And al lot of the Mexican pastry places I went after them had dry pastires with lousy flavor. I got two conchas, two apple turnovers, and bi-colored pink/white sweet pastries. Later, I walked over to the coffee and donut shop a few doors down for coffee. Then I happily ate two of the pastries in the car. Chomp, slurp, gulp. Great snakc. When friends came over that night just to say hello, they saw the plastic bag of pastries, and prompted me to say, "You can have one or two". Well there were two of them which equals four; sadly they said, "Dang that smells good. Well if you insist, we'll take two each." And I was suddenly a grouchy man with no pastries (grrrr!) Right next to the pastires was produce. It was early August when I went. They had some organic nectarines for 99 cents, and they were okay. The non organic peaches were better at $1.99 a pound. They had some cactus, and some Asian vegetables. Heart shaped Kent Mangoes with very little stringiness were two for a dollar, watermelon was 5 lbs for a dollar, and corn was 3 ears for a dollar. I checked out the weekly specials, and they were great. Six rolls of two ply towels were $3.50, and I bought two. They also had 1 liter plastic bottles of Jarrito Mango and Pineapple sodas. High sugar content, but very yummy. The inexpensive Sun Laundry detergent with non chlorine bleach was $1.99 for the 24 load bottle. The store aisles are kind of narrow. It must be lousy here during rush hour. I was shocked when several employees at different times said, "excuse me" when they were in my way as they stocked shelves. They resumed work after they let me pass through. That blew my mind, polite people always do LOL. Overall, I enjoyed this 10 minute shopping experience. And I'll be back. read more

Love this neighborhood super market! The staff is friendly and helpful. Stopped in for my week's shopping and they were surprisingly out of Alfredo sauce because it had been on sale that week. Because this is my neighborhood market, the next day I called in hoping they had re-stocked and was pleasantly surprised, not only that they answered the phone right away but that they were friendly and wanted to help. The employee that took my call placed me on a very short hold and confirmed they were fully stocked and offered to hold the two jars I needed at the front desk. I now remember why I stopped coming here. I've come here about five times before and each time I say I'm never coming back and then I forget. So now I've decided to do review so not only do I remember but others will know. For today's experience I ordered a Milanesa combo and got charged for a carne asada combo. The difference according to their sign is Milanesa combo is $8.99 and the carne asada combo is $14.99. I didn't notice until I got home. Pretty big difference. They've done this before and I said I wouldn't come back. They are not worth the convenience. I would have rather gone somewhere else and been happier. At least this time I got a good portion of rice it was as skimpy as last time. I ordered a pound of carne asada from them before and they gave me all the dry ends. Before that I ordered a carnitas meal and got home to eat and saw that it was so so so skimpy it wasn't worth using that container they could have gone with a smaller container so the food would look like more. I've found myself dropping by more often because of one thing. The hubby discovered how good the baked chicken is from the hot deli. The hubby loves it much more than what's at Ralphs & Albertsons. I have to agree; the seasoning is much tastier. I like it better than El Pollo Loco's. (It's cheaper here too). I've been coming right when the chicken's brought out from the oven at 10am. There's always 3 or 4 other people waiting for it too. Oh, and of course the made-in-house tortillas! So, that's two things he likes. If you come in the morning, they're still warm. The one thing that I don't like is their parking lot. It's mapped out kinda oddly. I've parked around the corner a few times rather than try navigate the lot when it's crowded. In fact, I think I planned it to be one location to go when the Zombie Apocalypse happens because it just sits there in the middle of Montebello and remains unnoticed by all who pass by it. Just sitting in the corner of your eye and never really being a place anyone wants to go. Hell, I went to school no more than a couple of blocks from here and I never wanted to go in nor did I think it was actually ever even open. The parking lot always looked empty. But sure enough, there is life in this place after all. First off, while not a typical Mexican butcher, the meat selection here is pretty impressive. If you're throwing a BBQ, it's a good one stop shop for a lot of marinated meat for your carne asada needs. Just come in and walk out with a big aluminum tray of stuff you can toss on the grill. They have weekly specials like most other places, I jumped at the clearance one time when Tecate 18 packs were dirt cheap. I mean, how could you pass up cheap beer at a cheap price? You really can't. The fruits and veggie selection is hit or miss. Just have to wade through a lot of the duds in the pile and get past the ones that don't look to fresh and you got yourself some remotely cheaply priced side fixings. Over all, it's a good place to stop if you're throwing a BBQ kick back in the local parks. And you're in Montebello, why wouldn't you be going to a kick back around here? read more

Beautiful weather always inspires me to bar-b-que. Keep in mind that I don't bar-b-que but I'm inspired anyway. So this past weekend was GORGEOUS. So I thought "Carne Asada" because my friends are as enthusiastic about carne asada as I am. Perhaps even more so. Interesting that the name of the food serves as the name of the event. When I called them up and said "I'm having a Carne Asada at my house" they understood. It'd be weird if I called and said "Hey I'm having a Spaghetti at my house". So I call up my dad who makes the best carne asada (in my opinion) to find out where he gets his meat because I never really paid attention. Turns out he buys it here at Super A Foods. I never would have guessed! This store is pretty small but they've got a mini restaurant thing going on where they sell burritos and tacos and such. I also really like their tortillas. Not expensive at all and pretty tasty. As good as you're gonna get from a supermarket chain. They're avocados were 2 for $0.99 (yesssss!) but there wasn't a great selection. =( But thankfully, Frank is a master at making guacamole, so all was not lost and he made them work. I was very, extremely, to the max satisfied with the carne asada. Not quite up to par with my dad's but pretty damn close! And my guests left full and drunk. I've only been here once which was today, and most reviews that are bad seem to be customer service oriented. Although I did enjoy my teriyaki chicken the service was very slow. I was the only customer standing there and it took forever (10 minutes just standing there) to get service. Several employees walked by and didn't even say good morning. I'm starting to leave places that don't give good customer service, and when I read the reviews of poor customer service I'm just not going to give them my hard earned money. Hadn't been here in a while, but I had to buy some thing real quick yesterday so I stopped here. I'm very glad I did! First thing I noticed, believe it or not, was the new floor they have. One of those black rubbery type floors, very clean! Haha, anyway from this I noticed that everything in the market was very clean and organized. After battlling for parking, I walkin in and headed streight for the meat counter (after elbowing an elderly lady, sorry grandma). I saw that they had some Prepaired Flank steak (Carne Asada) and some preped Chicken (pollo). So I ordered like 5 punds of Beef and 5 pound of Pollo and I saw that they also had beef Riblits so I ordered 3 punds of those. I don't knoe about you but everytime I pick up Carne Asada preped or not i always add can or Bottle of beer and let it sit for about 1hr at room tem, in this case the beer was Dos Equis (because Im the most interesting man in the world, .lol). let me tell you there was bout 8 people at my crib that day and the Carne Asada and the Beef ribitts were the fisrt to go.. o the next day afetr missing a very important meeting At work (due to the amount of Beer consumtion I did the night before) I looked in the aluminum container, and there was nothing left.. Okay so I drive buy this place all the time and I have to agree it is ghetto but you're a stone throw away from East Los Angeles where people only care about prices not how pretty the place looks. The beer here is always on sale I was able to walk out with a 12 pack of New Castle and an 18 pack of Tecate for $20 bucks. They have a really good meat section and the meat looks fresher than the Superior in Montebello that seems to always be crowded. I walked past it just recently and they were testing the temperature of the food which is always a good sign. It is a very Hispanic oriented market so if you are going to make some Mexican food tonight stop buy this spot because their items are pretty well priced. Super A has by far the best tortillas anywhere! They come out absolutely fresh, and delicious every time. Go in the morning and around noon for the freshest. They don't mind bringing out a new batch if you ask. Under $2 gets you more corn tortillas than a party of 20 can finish in tacos. Buy them and freeze half; they do well after thawed. As for the fresh ones, they'll keep for about two weeks. Try the yellow corn tortillas, which are maybe a little more rigid and hearty than the white. For about $3 you can get a nice stack of flour tortillas. Have you ever actually looked at the price of flour tortillas? They're $3 for maybe a dozen. You'll get at least twice this many in one of the big Super A packs. You can also get a smaller pack for about $2, but you'll wish you bought the big one! The produce is also top notch. No, it's not organic. But it is really cheap. And big. And good. Avocados and mangos for a quarter, potatoes for a dollar or two, and lots of other random specials. Every other week, they also have ridiculous specials on Tecate. Like $7 for an 18 or 24 pack. read more

I bought tripe meat in order to make Menudo for New Year's Day. The meat cooked bad, slippery, thin texture, I am told this happens when the meat is cheap. I did not buy the prepackaged meat (this should not make a difference) but from the butcher so it should have been fresh. I am very disappointed in the way this market has gone down the drain in quality. I live close to the Super A on Beverly Blvd, in Montebello, Ca. and I have shopped there for many years.
