There's nothing spectacular about their building and it looks a bit rustic. But I don't think it has any real bearing on the food quality. I'm always up for a good burger. This place is just a neighborhood stop. There's no bells and whistles. It is what it is but the food is good. It's not the best food in town but it definitely is a nice spot to stop for some regular American food. The service is fair, the food comes out quickly and inside it is clean though it has a drive-in feel. their milkshakes are very good. It is one of my go to so whenever I just want something sweet. I'm giving this review four star is because it has a nostalgic place in my heart but also they have been the longest place to stay open at that location aside from when it was country club drive-in. This place poses a huge health and safety risk to customers as it does not advertise that there is only one functional fryer. They also fail to post or even mention this fact or the fact that as a result the same oil is used to fry everything listed on the menu that is fried. What this means is if you have any shellfish allergies for example, and order fries after shrimp were fried in the same fryer, you will have an allergic reaction like my brother did which incidentally resulted in a trip to the E.R. What I find pathetic is the non chalant attitude taken by the employees when I called and brought this to their attention. I will definitely follow up with the health inspector and the department of public health to review this business so other individual are not affect by such haphazard business practices. read more

In a nutshell: Food 3 out of 5 Service 3 out of 5 Cleanliness 1.5 out of 5 For explanation keep reading. Food was okay. Burgers were a bit dry, but not bad. Veg seemed fresh. Fried chicken was surprisingly crispy and juicy (including breast) if not a little too sweet. The people working there were more or less friendly and helpful, but devoid of personality. Not a problem I suppose, just a nitpick. I'm not one to complain about restaurant cleanliness, and I'm actually known to throw caution to the wind for a good looking meal. However, this was a bit much for me. Besides the fact the the inside of this place seems to be covered in a layer of grease and dust, the cockroach that crawled across the counter while I was ordering before running back and hiding under the counter was a bit much for me. And then there was the bathroom that had a giant dead cockroach on the ground, and no soap. When I went back in and told an employee, they offered me hand sanitizer. When I declined and insisted on soap (on principle at this point), to his credit, the employee at least went and put soap in the bathroom. All in all, if you're in a pinch, and you aren't queezy about sanitation, this might be an option. But if it's a Wednesday or Friday you should really just go to Victory Grill on Monte Diablo for a far superior experience. read more
