I'd been wanting to try this place for a while now, based on word of mouth. In order for the 2 of us to get maximum exposure to Fork It's quality, ordered 1 12" Cowboy with BBQ sauce on the side; 1 12" Clucking Bacon Ranch, 1 chocolate cream pie, 1 coconut cream pie and a single order of onion rings. My husband called in the order and I advised him to get there early as things have a tendency to sell out. 15 minutes later he arrived in the small strip mall off Don & Hammer, happy to find a disabled spot almost right in front. The area itself is a bit sketchy but okay during the abbreviated hours, mostly 11AM-4PM.. Closed Saturdays and most Sundays. The two big bags of wonderful smelling food cost $70, and I will describe and show photos of just what you will receive. A special note for the owner's son, Big D. The fact you noticed my guy was both elderly and disabled and offering help with the bags was beyond and above. He doesn't mention it but he's still a bit unsteady after hip surgery. My food rating is 4.5 but genuine kindness bumps it to a full 5! We started in splitting the chicken sandwich. I loved the fresh, lightly toasted bread and the fact this small business father and son team source locally. The roll was dressed with shredded lettuce and a couple ripe tomato slices. Two meaty slices of bacon added to the enjoyment, but what really knocked me out and made this such a fine value, 2 huge, (about the size of your palm and fingers), slices of breast with another half thrown in for good measure. The chicken benefitted from marinating then grilling just right. Missing in action? Any and all ranch dressing-I even looked for to-go containers but none to be found. Comparing notes with DH he said his bread was dripping with sauce to the point of being soggy...I guessed when the sandwich was upright on the drive home everything wet rushed to one side! Stuff happens. The size of these sandwiches is huge but we moved on to the Cowboy for dinner. Cut in two, I took the smaller side, closer to 5". I've deconstructed down to the point of separating out onions, mushroom and tri tip. We opted for Provolone for more of a cheesesteak vibe. Generous slabs of mild cheese helped hold the whole thing together. DH grilled tri tip and ribs for the Stockton Ports game for several years and knew what to look for. The consensus, fair amount of meat, cooked medium well, tender with good flavor. I specified BBQ sauce on the side, which was no problem. That way I could deconstruct my half Cowboy, could be a nurse thing! DH thought too many onions while I thought the ratio to meat was spot on. Sadly the mushrooms turned out to be 3/4ths of one button mushroom thinly sliced for my share. Both grilled onions and mushrooms add additional moisture and flavor. Adding the sauce, a molasses tomato blend with a small peppery kick made for a very enjoyable meal. The onion rings were about 1/2" thick and plentiful. Crispy on the outside while still being moist on the inside with sweet onion. The coconut pie was creamy with toasted coconut sprinkled over the whipped topping. The crust was of interest, buttery cookie instead of graham cracker or standard pie crust. Our chocolate cream pie was a chocolate lover's dream. A light mousse touch to the filling with heavier ganache brownie crust. We're still working on that one. So 4 meals, 2 happy campers and even our dogs give 4 paws up. read more

1st time stopping in and OMG!!!! The service was great! When you walk in the door the smell of the Tri tip makes your mouth water! I had 'The Real Deal' ( Tri tip, grilled onions and cheese of choice), the garlic fries with Parmesan cheese and two desserts lol! The 'Brown Sugar Apple Cinnamon Cheesecake' and the 'Key Lime pie'! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS! - Ike's classic: tri tip with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. They forgot the "Fork It" sauce so it was a little bland and dry. I'll have to come back to try this again to give my final verdict. - French fries: nothing outstanding but for $4 you can't go wrong if you need some fries with your sandwich. The service here is amazing! We stopped in based on their rave Yelp reviews, and boy did it live up to the hype! The owner, Isaac/Ike, was so pleasant and even let us taste his homemade peach strawberry lemonade before ordering. You can tell he has so much fun operating his business and interacting with his customers. A couple regulars came in, and Ike literally rattled off their usual order without missing a beat. The inside of the restaurant is setup grab-and-go style. They make homemade pies that change daily. We ordered 10 wings (half buffalo mild and half buffalo hot), fries, Ike's Classic 6-inch sandwich, and key lime pie. Everything was incredibly delicious. One of the best beef sandwiches I have ever had! They are large enough to share! We also tried the mini pumpkin pie and the caramel apple pie, and both were really good. The flavor of the tri tip is out of this world..my husband and I shared the large sandwich..(had enough left over for the next day..they are huge. We got the provolone cheese and grilled onions. I do have to say I like my roll to be a little crunchier to go with all that marinade goodness..but can see how it's hard since the sandwich is wrapped hot and to go only. Holy tri-tip! This place is amazing! My lady and I were driving through and decided to stop here because we were starving and the reviews looked good. If anything the reviews didn't do it justice. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by the gentleman at the window who gave us suggestions and offered a sample. Then the cook came out from the back to personally give us tri-tip and pastrami samples. Both were extremely nice and both samples were so good it was hard to choose. I eventually settled on the Ike's classic with American cheese and bacon and my girl got the pastrami special as is. We both agreed it was the best sandwiches we've ever had, even the fries were on point. I never leave reviews but I had to shout these guys out. I will definitely be back whenever I'm in the area. I do not often find myself compelled to leave reviews... but this experience was one for the books. On the heels of an overwhelming and stressful few days I decided that a new exploration in food may be just what I need. I searched for the highest rated sandwich shops nearby and headed over. In the middle of this mini strip mall, all covered in bars, is a living masterpiece. I walked in and the gentleman behind the glass plate window recommended the tri-tip sandwich. I ordered and my god am I glad I did. I was an atheist yesterday and today I tasted the heavens. I wish the aroma was an air freshener, deodorant, and cologne. I want to be buried with this sandwich. I cannot possible explain how perfect it is, I almost got in 4 accidents on the 45 minute drive home because I couldn't stop eating it. In fact if I had gotten in an accident, I would've just given the officer a bite and he would've torn up the ticket and said it was the other driver's fault for not also eating this sandwich while driving. Do not allow your life to end without getting the Tri-tip sandwich from this hole in the wall in Stockton. You will not have lived a full life. Not sure what happened to my review, so I will put it up again. I see that 1 star reviews get a very negative response from the owners. I'm so not surprised. I went to Fork It when it was on the Miracle Mile. The food was ok. Maybe even a 3 or 4. The reason for 1 star was the staff. I have not experienced the kind of treatment I got from the staff ever. They were rude, bordering on abusive. I'm positive their response to this will be the same. It's too bad. With different staff this could be a go to place to eat. I get to vote with my wallet, so I spend my money at places with staff I enjoy and can tip generously when they are pleasant. read more

I've been wanting to come back and try the chicken from here because I can tell that they make it themselves rather than deep frying some pre-cooked frozen wings and passing them off as freshly made wings. Some of these restaurants around here just kill me with the wording that they use, but anyways, I can tell that the food from Fork It is made fresh, especially after ordering food and eating it, it's obviously made by someone who has skills in the kitchen and puts their heart in to making delicious food for us. I really appreciate his passion for selling the best options possible. I wish this was a sit down restaurant, I would come a lot more often. My boyfriend has to eat low sodium, so I can't bring food home that isn't low sodium because as much as he does well eating the kind of food he supposed to eat it's just too tempting when the other food is nearby him and more times than not. He will eat that food as well and then I feel guilty and he's feeling horrible because of them eating the wrong kind of food, so unless I want to eat in my car, it's not that easy to get food from a place like this. I made an exception today and I ordered the wings which come with fries and I asked for ranch dressing on the side which is also homemade ranch dressing or hidden valley, ranch packets, ranch dressing, which to me is homemade and it's the best, I also got a Keylime pie and an Oreo cheesecake. My total was kind of expensive it was about $32 maybe $34 somewhere around there the amount that I was told kind of because I didn't expect it to be that high after realizing I did get desserts , so I know it's not going to be cheap, so I'm OK with it. We will not be going to any other sandwich shops now that we found this place. We were looking for someplace different for lunch today and I asked Yelp for popular lunch places. "Fork it" was first on the list with 5 stars. I checked the reviews and it sounded like a pretty good place to try out. I have never been there before, so I thought I was going to the wrong place because I was driving on Don Ave. and through residential housing. But just as I was going to turn around, there was a small business area with a Circle K store and some other businesses and "Fork it" nestled in between. This business is strictly take out only. When I stepped in, there was the counter with plexi counter protection, a great big US flag hanging on the wall (nice!) and the board with all the food offerings. The young man at the counter was very nice and polite and as he was taking my order, The Owner/Chef stepped out and welcomed me and was telling me about the freshly delivered Genova bread that they always serve their sandwiches on, and the pies he makes daily. He showed me the different types of pies that looked delicious but I had to pass this time. No doubt this Chef takes great pride in his food and desserts. Getting back to what I ordered, the Big D and Santa Maria tri tip, 12" of course. My tri tip was packed with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, provolone cheese and of course lots of tri tip! So deliciously seasoned and tender on the soft Genova bread, I could only eat half. The price seems high but the sandwich is well worth it. (If you go to any fast food place, you are already spending $30+. Also, this is so much better than fast food.) I highly recommend this sandwich/burger shop. Might have been because I paired with the wrong kind of cheese but eleven dollars for a 6" sandwich the portion size was very nice! I will be trying their other menu options. Had the chocolate and caramel apple pie when I got home (to share with fams)... both were that chocolate pie tho.. it was like eating mousse on top, with a brownie ganache pudding crust.
