I frequently order Chinese food in Astoria, so I have a good basis for comparison. Unfortunately, Pagoda's quality seems to have declined over time. My most recent order was so disappointing that I won't be ordering from them again. The chicken was extremely rubbery--some pieces were unchewable, and I had to pull them out of my mouth mid-bite. I ordered Shrimp Mei Fun with beef (for $1 more) and upon returning home I didn't get the Shrimp. I then called and spoke to one of the guys that work in there who was very respectful to me on the call and stated his manager will call me back for compensating. I received the call moments later and I'm explaining what had just occurred and he was very aggressive and agitated repeating that I was wrong and hung up the call on me. Obviously me being pissed off that I even spent any money at this place called him back fuming. Do not recommend, better off up the block at the next Chinese place. read more

I wish I had known about this halal Chinese sooner! It's so good. I got the garlic beef and asked for only string beans and baby corn and they delivered; the vegetables were not over cooked at all, they still had a crunch to it. I just wish there was more beef, it's probably 30% beef and 70% vegetable. Their sesame chicken/general Tsos is better than avgerage too. I'm definitely going to keep going back! read more

My son told me that there are new owners which explains ALOT. The food hasn't been great. Sweet and sour chicken had almost no sauce. General tso used to come with broccoli, now just one floret included... as a garnish? I complained about the one piece of broccoli in my dish when I ordered again and I kid you not... they put TWO in this time. Horrible experience after being a loyal customer for over 5 years. I placed an order at 7:04pm and around 7:45p called to see my ETA since we have been fasting all day and wanted to see if the food would be here on time for iftar. I called and was promised the guy had already left and it would come within 20 minutes .... fast forward to 8:45 pm and still no food. No delivery. I called again to ask what was going on and if now at this point the food would be cold? The guy on the phone was just rushing me off the phone with "okay, okay"'. ... this situation is NOT okay. This place was great before covid 19 shutdown. They closed down and reopened. Not sure if new owners but we ordered general tsaos (a standard that we ordered many...MANY times before the shutdown) and this time it was overcooked to the point of not being able to chew it! read more

Yanno, as I ordered my food (in person, not for delivery) and checked in here last week I totally thought I would end up ripping this place apart on Yelp! Well I learned a lesson - don't judge a food establishment by its cover! Lol, sure we all know this, but sometimes we need a little reminder. Enter Super China Pagoda! Came here on my way to my boyfriend's best friend's house last Tuesday to watch them do their weekly podcast. After not having eaten anything since like noon and commuting to Astoria from Columbus Circle, I was starving...naturally. Being not too sure about what I was craving I hopped in here because it smelled AMAZING, but because they sell both Chinese AND halal food! Interesting mix, but I can dig it. Having received a text from my boy as I was looking at their menu I learned that he had bought me a chicken sandwich assuming I'd be hungry...after all my insides exploded because I thought that was so freaking sweet, I decided to be a fatass and order some steamed pork dumplings anyway...because when the dumpling craving kicks in, I answer it. Decidedly upon looking at them in the comfort of said friend's house, I decided they looked like your regular, "run of the mill" fast food Chinese dumplings that end up feeling like you're chewing on human ear (I can't be alone here, lol)...surprisingly enough they tasted better than I was expecting! They were generously filled with really delicious pork and chive filling, yes it was unfortunately wrapped in that disappointingly thick dumpling skin, but with the pork and the pork juices flowing out them with each bite, I was pleasantly...pleased. So I frequent 5 halal Chinese restaurants this has taken 1st place since reopening during COVID-19. There chicken egg rolls I can eat as a meal in itself not swimmingly oily, crispy crunchy , yummy goodness. I tried there Mongolian beef awesome, shredded beef the small is so much that I can only imagine what a large looks like, great portions. Please don't sleep on the hibachi grill options worth the money and tastes great FYI I travel from elmont Long Island to Astoria for you guys even though parking SUCKS in the neighborhood. read more

This restaurant is probably one of the few Chinese Halal places I've seen in the neighborhood and I believe it is part of a local chain of Chinese Halal places all named China Pagoda. You can get all your typical Chinese take out dishes here and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hot and sour soup here. Unlike most other typical take out places it wasn't watered down and actually had a decent spicy (hot) kick to it. Their portions are noticeable larger than a lot of the neighboring Chinese restaurants which is always nice given it is in the same price range. This is a great place to order from. They include free dumplings or soda when your order above $20 or $30 which is a great deal. Never been sick from this place at all. It's unfortunate that they're closed during quarantine. Their small sizes are phenomenal, it's the same size as a small in other places, which makes it a great deal. Would give 0/5 stars if i could. The food was delivered to the wrong address even though i put MY CORRECT one. They then tried to pin the blame on me saying i put the wrong address even though I 10000% put the correct one . I order on Uber eats almost every day and this is the first time this ever happened. The manager was also very very rude and did not want to cancel the order. I had to get my refund from Uber Eats 3 hours after the order was placed. Since I moved to NYC recently, I've been going around and trying out the various Chinese restaurants around my apartment. Asking around at my laundromat, the woman recommended China Pagoda, saying it wasn't as greasy as other places. I don't know what exactly makes it halal or so different from other Chinese take-out places, but the food was good and the portion size was decent. Price-wise, it seems to be around the same as everywhere else and not nearly as greasy as some of the other places on the same street. read more

I normally don't order chinese, but I was hungry and bored at home alone, so I ordered at this place cause they serve Halah meat. The wait time for the delivery was normal. I ordered a small chicken-lo mein and chicken sweet and sour. I like the containers they use, it was well packed. For a small order of each item, It definitely was more for 3 people. The lo-mein wasn't bad, and the chicken tasted fresh, I just felt it was missing a touch of seasoning. However, I would order again and try their other dishes to actually judge overall. read more

This place is about as good as it gets when it comes to Chinese style fast food. They have a clean kitchen in view of the public, they accept credit cards, and the food isn't as greasy as you'd expect for this type of place. They're halal so no pork on the menu, the service is pretty good, and I recommend the Singapore Mai fun. read more

I don't eat fast food often, especially Chinese so it's good if you're really craving some. This place does good sized portions. Beware though, there's an insane amount of sodium in this stuff so probably shouldn't be eating it regularly. Otherwise it's a good takeout place. They do fast fast deliveries. We lived in the area for a while and loved to eat here. The spicy dishes had a tad bit of a kick, which is awesome if you don't like your American Chinese to be overly sweet. The portion sizes were very good. And the quality is much better than typical fast food takeouts. Another reviewer said it is less greasy than average, which is just right. And the service is always polite. I was in the area after 3 years, and decided to stop by. It is still worth it :) BTW, "Halal" is not a "style" of food or a cuisine; like Kosher, it identifies the food being sourced from approved Islamic sources, no pork, no alcohol, etc. And to the best of my knowledge, this restaurant serves no pork, so I am not sure how "Stephanie P." got pork dumplings :) read more
