3.5 out of 5 stars for lack of AC and keeping the kitchen door open without a proper exhaust and filling the room with burning onion. Food was delicious and came out fast and staff were exceptional, especially given the circumstances. Used to come here before they redecorated and renovated and the food has become more upscale with micro greens for toppings and new menu items. If you want to make it more upscale you have to take care of your Kitchen staff and have a proper vent and turn the AC up. Will come back for the food and staff!
I came to Angel for dinner, and we had a good time! We did have to wait a while for a table to open up, but service throughout our experience was so kind. All the workers here are welcoming and fun! Inside has a decent amount of tables with moodier lighting and a bar. We placed our order, and the food came out very quick! The Seekh Kebabs were good! Not gamey and was a good tender kebab. The goat biryani was also flavorful and I actually loved the bread layer on top. The pairing with the raita makes the whole dish so delicious.
Needed to find a new spot for Indian cuisine. Wow what a find. Let's start with The nann- holy moley- light and crispy. Which is so good as you don't feel heavy eating it and maybe less carbs. The service was good, took the time to address our allergies, likes etc . Make a reservation if you can, or get there right after work because it's going to be packed. Ambiance is cool. Definitely will be going back to try more things.
Great Indian restaurant in Jackson Heights. Place is clean and has a casual/intimate ish vibe. Service was fast and friendly and food was delicious. There really isn't anything i can complain about .. the only thing is it's not the best Indian I had so that's why it gets 4 stars from me.
Angel Indian is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. EXCELLENT Indian food, made by real Indian people and without the hubbub of being in Manhattan. In the heart of Jackson Heights, Angel Indian is a quintessential pillar of the food scene in the neighborhood and gave me some of the best bites of that year. By the way they make their own paneer - delish! Their special that includes paneer-stuffed naan is a MUST have. It comes with a bunch of sides you eat together for a perfect marriage of spices, seasonings, fresh paneer, delicious butter, lightly sour yogurt and all these different textures with soft, crumble, crunch. Their goat dum biryani is also excellent and has such tender meat with flavorful rice. Their saag paneer was also delicious!
Angel is hands down the best Indian food I've ever had -- and honestly better than any Michelin-star Indian restaurant I've been to. The flavors here are just on another level. We ordered the goat dum biryani ($25.99) *a MUST get in my opinion* veg pakoda ($10.99), lamb vindaloo ($21.99), and garlic naan ($5). Every single dish was incredible. The biryani was perfectly cooked and the right spice level as well as the lamb vindaloo, and even the veg pakoda was crispy and super flavorful. If you're anywhere near Jackson Heights, this place is absolutely worth the trip. Waits can get pretty long on the weekends but it's worth it. I'm already thinking about when I can go back.
Food was amazing! The chicken saag was so tender and so flavorful. It came with basmati rice. The samosa chaat had a great mix of flavors and texture, and was noticeably sweet. I thought the staff was attentive, but I found the restaurant to be very loud with a lot going on. I definitely see myself coming back for the food.
In a neighborhood saturated with South Asian cuisine options, Angel truly stands out as a gem. I first visited Angel before the pandemic when it was at it's old corner side location with just a few tables, but it has since exploded from making its way to the Michelin guide and having many influencers spotlight their menu. The attention is well deserved, but you will need to plan ahead for meals--especially weekends. You can make a reservation on Resy.com, which is not listed on their Google page or their website. Their new location is more upscale now, with suited up servers and ambient lighting. This is quite the change from the small kitchen wok storefront vibe from their first location. The portions are still generous and a great bang for your buck! There is a decadent shock value to each entree's presentation that has been thoughtfully curated by the chefs. It is apparent that the dishes are prepared with detail and the staff is always attentive to customers. The food comes out fresh, spicy, flavorful and is consistent in quality. The menu is also very accommodating to all dietary needs. Some must-trys are the dum biriyani--the star of the show that has baked naan seared over piping hot biriyani; one of my favorites is the batata puri appetizer--a yogurt and chutney filled crunchy appetizer with potato and chickpea--a literal explosion of flavor and yogurt; I also love the saag, which uses a hearty portion of spinach and mustard greens and you can't go wrong with the tandoori chicken or fish. We were seated immediately and even though the restaurant had a solid crowd, the service was attentive and genuinely warm the entire time. We started with the samosas and WOW. We were so close to ordering a second round but had to practice self-control to save room for our entrées. I ordered the butter chicken with roti, and it was everything you want butter chicken to be.. rich, creamy, deeply spiced without being overpowering. My fiancé ordered the goat biryani, and the presentation alone was stunning. The flavor. The tenderness. The layers of spice. So, so, so good. We were already talking about when we're coming back before we even paid the bill. And I have to shout out the staff, when we were packing up leftovers, they kindly added a small container of yogurt sauce for us to take home without us even asking. Highly recommend. Another Jackson Heights gem added to the rotation!
Happy to see that Angel's has expanded without compromising their delicious food. The new location is much larger/newer/less of a "hole in the wall" vibe compared to the original location. We reordered dishes that we've typically enjoyed (lamb madras, garlic naan, goat dum biryani) and all were excellent. We also tried the samosa chaat app which was full of flavor. Service is polite, accommodating, and apps/entrees are brought out at the perfect pace. Also, they are BYOB.
We ordered the butter chicken, paneer tikka masala, pani puri, and the garlic naan. Everything was delicious but beware if you have a low spice tolerance. The staff was friendly as well. Would eat again.
On the evening of 10/15/25, I ate dinner at Angel Indian Restaurant with about 10 other Yelpers. Yelp Elite Andie organized the group dinner. My favorite dish was the Goat Dum Biryani because of the way it was presented. The server cut open a puffed bread "balloon" on top, revealing layers of onions, herbs, rice, and goat. Another favorite of mine was the appetizer Mumba Bhei Puri . It is a rice dish that is so fragrant and perfectly seasoned, it could be a meal on its own. I also enjoyed the Dahl Patata Puri, which looked like meatballs but were actually a fried melange of potatoes, chickpeas, sweetened yoghurt and various spices, shaped into a ball. And that black cumin naan? Addictive doesn't even begin to describe it. I had three pieces and had to stop myself from eating more! A special shout-out to Azai, the general manager, who graciously offered me a complimentary mango lassi after my TAJ beer spilled a bit while the server was opening it. The mango lassi was a delicious milkshake. This is a BYOB restaurant because they do not have a liquor license. I plan to return to try other dishes. I highly recommend Angel Indian Restaurant.
I truly had an amazing time at Angel Indian Restaurant dining with wonderful Yelpers. I was able to meet new Yelpers which is always nice. This was actually my first time trying Indian cuisine and I actually enjoyed it. We started our dining experience with two appetizers, Mumbai Bhal Puri and Dahi Batata Puri, both which are popular Indian street food snacks. They both were very delicious. Our entrees included Goat Dum Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Madras,Lotus Root Kofta, Kalonji Naan and Basmati Rice. It was a wonderful dining experience for me and I'm glad that I was able to spend it with fellow Yelpers. Angel Indian Restaurant has been in operation for six years at the previous location. However, they've been operating at this new upscale restaurant for two months now. Angel Indian Restaurant provided an incredible experience for us all and made sure that we were taken care of. It seems to be quite popular in the neighborhood because there were many people waiting to get inside. Stop by, you won't be disappointed. Ambiance (5/5): The inside is very pristine with an elevated feel. The staff wear suits! Service (5/5): To circumvent the Friday night wait time without a reservation, we chose to sit at the bar top seating. It was uncomfortable since our knees bumped into the table. However, we did not have to wait! We had immediate service any time we wanted it because someone was always behind the bar. Food (5/5): This is the best Indian food I've had in Queens!! Every since dish is packed with flavor, depth in the sauce and meats, and reasonably priced!! I liked how much sauce was in every dish. Samosa was perfect. The Goat Mandras was my favorite with a sauce that has spice but not super spicy considering the red chili symbol. Chicken Tikka was also very good. My garlic naan was SO good, has a crunch on one side but airy soft to bite. Unlimited little rice bowls?! This will be our go-to Indian after our first experience. read more
Butter chicken had depth of flavor and plenty of chicken! Chicken was tender. Fish moilee was too sweet and one dimensional in flavor; everything just tasted like coconut. Fish texture was tender though. Chicken biryani was plain and did not have much chicken. Garlic naan was fluffy, crispy, and well seasoned. Mango lassi was very sweet; almost cloying. read more

I've dined at the old location and tonight I was able to join a fantastic group dinner at the new location. The new space is larger and has a more modern, upscale feel that I appreciated. I waited a bit to review Angel because I felt I didn't have too much experience with Indian cuisine. Over the past year I've been exploring more, but still by no means an expert. With that disclaimer in place it is fairly easy to appreciate the quality of the food from Angel. In each of the dishes we ordered the meats were all tender and flavorful. Our menu for the evening included: Mumbai Bhal Puri - Tomatoes, onion, green & tamarind chutney, sev papdi. I found this very refreshing. There was still some after we got our mains and it was nice to switch back to this dish. Dahi Batata Puri - I thoroughly enjoyed these one bite snacks (although some find them large try your best to do it one go or you will have a mess on your hands and probably mouth) crispy outside, refreshing potatoes, tamarind mint chutney yogurt fills the inside. Lamb Madras - Lamb, onion, turmeric, tomatoes. Lamb is very tender, but honestly this can be almost any meat. I usually enjoy the distinctive lamb flavor but the flavorful sauce truly is the focus. Chicken Tikka Masala - Marinated chicken, red chilli powder, garam masala. How can chicken be this tender? Truly delicious chunks in a satisfying flavorful sauce. Goat Dum Biryani - Goat, basmati rice, saffron served with raita. This dish is presented with a flourish as the server breaks open the bread dome to mix the steaming biryani inside. Perhaps because this dish was served with other strongly flavored dishes with sauces at our meal that it lessens it's impact. It comes off a little on the dry side. Lotus Root Kofta - This dish was a surprise. I forgot I recommended to our host (shoutout to Andie!) and I thought this was a meatball - a testament to Angel's flavorful curry. Basmati Rice and Kalonji Naan (black cumin naan) rounded out the dishes. I would probably be at 5 stars, but same as in the old location soon after you put the last bite (or sometime while you still are about to put the last bite in your mouth) the servers start to give you the bum rush out of the place. "Would you like anything wrapped? Are you done with this?" I understand, restaurants need to make a buck but when a large group (like ours of 12) is dropping a few hundred dollars on a meal I think a little grace and courtesy would be welcomed instead of trying to get us out after just an hour. read more
Wow, just wow. If you are looking for delicious Indian food along with even better service, look no further than Angel Indian Restaurant. The menu is quite extensive and fortunately our server took the time to walk us through its entirety, pointing out his favorites by calling out the number listed on the menu and name of the dish (this was helpful as I was trying to follow along!). They bring every table a thin crisp bread with cumin seeds but you also must order the piping hot naan! Ordered: Garlic naan ($5)- this was super garlicky and served warm. It accompanied the other dishes perfectly. Butter chicken ($20)- this was phenomenal! One of the best butter chickens I've had. The chicken was tender, the sauce was nice and the portion was generous. I would order this again for sure. Dahi Batata Puri ($9)- this was also very tasty! It had potatoes and tamarind mint chutney. Great Experience, polite, gracious staff. Got a table on a busy Friday evening and everything was delicious! We had the Chicken Dum Biryani, Chicken Tina Masala, & the marinated wings...everything was flavorful..will def be back. Be sure to try the mint chutney which we wanted to drink!! read more
Tried their new location on 37th ave on a Thursday evening. I must say it's a busy restaurant, but you won't have problem finding a table. They have more tables than their old location and much cleaner. Their music is still loud but we were able to hear each other this time. Service is fast. Few men in suits go around like a bouncer. Idk what their job is but looked itimidating to me. We ordered samosa chat, mango lassi, lamb chops and chicken biryani. Food was nothing special. Lamb chop was good. Biryani was lacking flavor, not as good as it was in their old location, maybe because we got goat biryani last time. I must say Little pricey for the location,food portion and taste read more

Came for lunch on a weekday and were seated right away. We tried the goat madras curry and fish moilee. I liked the goat better and felt the fish was ok. The goat pieces were fairly tender and fell off the bone. We also had their garlic naan which was good. I tried their chai and felt it tasted almost medicinal instead of the usual aromatic spices in chai which I wasn't a fan of. For dessert we had the Gulab jamun which was good as well. read more
Pulled up to Angel Indian Restaurant in Jackson Heights -- where the food hits harder than the 7 train brakes. Convenient to every subway in the neighborhood, so you really have no excuse not to eat like a king. Started off with the Pani Puri, aka "crispy little flavor grenades." Hollow shells stuffed with potatoes, chickpeas, onions, and then BOOM -- that spicy tangy water. One bite and my taste buds started doing bhangra. Then came the pastry-topped goat dum biryani... bro... this thing was slow-cooked like it was training for a marathon. Layers of rice and marinated goat sealed under pastry like a treasure chest. I opened it and legit heard angels sing. Also their homemade paneer? Yeah, they don't play. But the MVP of the night? My guy Abdur. Funniest waiter I've ever met. Man was out here giving elite recommendations like a Michelin-star coach. Told me to get the goat biryani AND a mango lassi... changed my whole mood. The lassi hit smoother than a Sunday nap. So good - probably the best chicken tikka masala we've had. The goat dum biryani was also solid. It was pretty loud and busy on a Sunday night but they got us in and out pretty quickly. The tables are pretty close to each other so it can also get a little bit loud. read more

A beautiful room with soothing decor. Walked in and was promptly seated for lunch. Tried their home made paneer tikka...OMG..‼ So succulent and flavorful. For main's had Chef's Special Thali- which was a home run - an assortment of chef's delicacies. Service was attentive and friendly by Rajendra and other staff who carried a smile all along. Chef stopped by to say hullo and check if I was enjoying. Kudos to chef for his distinct flavors and concoctions. Success belongs to him ‼ read more
Legendary indian food - quite literally one of the best of the best. The chicken masala and lamb vindaloo were so incredibly flavorful, especially when you dip in the cooked-to-perfection naan bread. But the star? The vegetarian dish - Aloo Baingan. As a carnivore, I cannot explain why this dish was so addicting, but all I know is I gotta have it again next time I'm in the area. Only thing I surprisingly didn't enjoy was the pani puris. Service was a bit slow and ambiance is standard. The NYTimes should reevaluated who they give the top indian restaurant award to! read more
Had the Mumbai Puri, Chicken Tikka, Goat Biryani, Garlic Naan and Butter Chicken. The food was delicious and spicy, however, the chicken Tikka was a bit too salty. Price is a bit on the expensive side. The place was very packed with lots of people and the ambiance is dark almost bar like. There is only one room bathroom which should be expanded since the place is kind of popular. read more
Great food. Restaurant was kind of small and very busy so definitely recommend making a reservation. The service was super good and the servers were dresser very very nicely. The garlic naan was very garlicky and was so good. The saag was kind of chunky and was different from saag I'm used to but this must just be a regional thing. The paneer was on the firmer side which I like more than soft paneer. My friend got a dish called chole something lol and she said it's hard to find at restaurants and was super good. Ate here today with my mom for lunch and dinner trying this place out for the first time. We definitely got different kinds of dishes to share and eat together that it was absolutely delicious and savory. The service there was also attentive and super fast. I get the hype. This place is a gem! I had an overnight layover in NYC so I stayed in Queens and went here for lunch. Truly some of the best Indian food I've had. Their dum biryani was so such and delicious. I loved how many vegan and vegetarian options they had and their pani puri was perfection. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. This is the slightly more formal experience of its more well known, casual-dining, sibling restaurant, which shares the same name. Deep flavors, spice levels, and heat are all great, layered, and exciting. Service is attentive and happily willing to answer questions. Seating/space can accommodate larger (6-8 people) parties. Price is standard for a NYC restaurant in this bracket of dining experience. Would I come back? Probably, and only for an occasion. But this place has made me more excited and curious to try the original, more casual spot. read more
I was slightly skeptical when they changed locations if the food quality was going to change, but this may be my FAVORITE restaurant in NYC. It absolutely lives up to the hype. You cannot go wrong with anything you order here, but the viral goat biryani is a MUST. It is spiced perfectly and cooked to perfection. We got the pani puri, samosa chaat, butter chicken, laal maas, and saag paneer as well. I can't even highlight one dish because everything was amazing. You MUST go here!!!! read more

Are reservations recommended?
I went for lunch on a weekday and just walked in, but I think to be safe you can call to make reservation since it's quite small. It's not a very fancy place. Mom and pop shop vibes!
