Ewww. Just ordered the shrimp pad thai, Tom yum soup and a fresh roll. The quality of food was terrible. Smelled terrible and tasted awful. Like smelly socks or something gross. The mushrooms in the soup were yucky. The broth would have been good but the mushrooms stunk it up and made it taste bad. Just garbage. The only thing o ate was the fresh roll and I'm hoping I don't get sick from the shrimp that were almost raw and yucky tasting. Very disappointed I spent $50 on this Grubhub order. The good news on the apple salad is that you get a lot of chicken in it for the price, the bad news is that we ordered it vegan-friendly, (see pics). What came was basically a container of rice , a couple pieces of under cooked broccoli, a little bit of chicken and no texture and looks like it was never even stir fried. Yum! I ordered catering through ezcater for work, and the food was hot, fresh, and delivered on time. Everything we ordered was yummy - drunken noodles, chicken lettuce wraps, chicken satay, and veggie curry. The spice levels are accurate - I ordered a 6 level for the curry, and it was decently spicy but not too spicy for a group. The sauces were also really yummy and the order comes with extra spice powder on the side as well. The dishes were perfectly seasoned and the satay was tender and moist, not dry at all. The veggie curry was so flavorful and full of fresh veggies. Perfect! We are definitely looking forward to ordering from them often, and I would for sure go back myself the next time I am in Royal Oak. read more

Due to a last minute change of plans we decided to meet one of our friends here for lunch. I wasn't familiar with Bangkok Cuisine although I had driven by here many times but hadn't eaten here before. It has a small dining area with two 4-tops and two 2-tops as well as a couple of stools at the counter. I think there are a lot of carry out orders but we were early and it wasn't busy yet and we ate in. We stepped up to the counter and reviewed the menu to decide what to order. My wife chose a Vegetable Curry Mild with Shrimp added and I ordered my standard first-time dish Red Curry Shrimp Medium. Our friend got the Pad Prik with Pork also Medium and an order of Egg Rolls to share. The Egg Rolls came out first and fast so I tried one. Being allergic to peanuts I asked for some Hoisin Sauce instead. They were hot, crispy, loaded, and delicious without being overly greasy. Then the main dishes came out. They all had plentiful portions and the medium was medium and the mild was mild! So many places can't seem to get this right. The chef actually brought the orders out to us himself and everyone was friendly and made us feel welcome. The taste of my Red Curry was exactly what I was looking for. My wife was impressed with the variety of vegetables that were in her dish. I might normally passed over this place as I look for higher ratings and lots of them. But I'm so glad we were able to try them and we will probably be back. read more

Eating at a lot of Thai restaurant, I know good Thai food. My son is even a Thai cook. Bangkok at this location is top notch. Good food. Perfectly cooked. Good recipe. Very busy! And from what I know, owned by authentic Thai people. FYI, Thai owned restaurant for Thai food is the best! The place is small, but the food is exceptionally good. There are plenty of Thai restaurant in the area. This is the first Thai place you should try. You will not be disappointed. In fact, lots of doctors and nurses come here for take out. Have I been to Thailand? No. Do I like American Thai food? Hell yes. Is it delicious? The most. My experience with the menu is relatively limited. We don't stray far from our faves here, so I'll update this in the future. We order the fresh rolls, drunken noodle (those good, wide noods!), and the Gang Garee. The reason we don't stray too far on this menu is that the Gang Garee is SO DELICIOUS. It's potatoes and tofu in a yellow curry --Salty and sweet, with a bit of umami (ghalangal?) that just tickles all the pleasure senses. We often add some veggies to make it a little more substantial. It's served with sticky white rice. I could eat this every day. Heads up if you're a spice lover, the spice levels here are more 'American.' .. Like, when we get Indian food, we order Medium spice. That melts our face. Here, medium is quite tame. My ONLY critique of the food is that it skews salty? But it's carryout, so it's not what we're eating every day .. and it's delicious. So f*ck it. Ordered a tofu massaman with extra peanuts. The peanuts are roasted and delicious. The massaman was spicy but full of flavor. I also love that there is plenty of sauce. However the second time I ordered the same thing, in mild plus remembering that it had been pretty spicy. This time, the spice level was unbearable. I usually enjoy a medium spice curry from most places, but this was painful. Disappointed and reluctant to go back. I like a little kick but this was way too much for me. I may have a new favorite Thai takeout place. I bought an Amazon Local deal for this place a while back, so I had $22 to use. I was going to use it with a friend, but the deadline was looming so I decided to splurge and spend it all on myself. And you can get a lot of things for $22 there.... I got the Pad Prik with chicken as well as the Pad Almond with beef, both mild, the "fresh rolls," and Tom Yum soup. Let's just say I have a LOT of leftovers - the portions are generous and a dinner is only $8 too (looking at you, Sy Thai, though that's one of my faves too). The soup was tart (the lemongrass?) with HUGE mushrooms, and was a bargain for $2. The fresh rolls were actually like rolled up mini salads, with a delicious peanutty dressing. I liked the Pad Almond sauce a little better than the Pad Prik - it could be the same sauce, but it tasted better with the beef, IMO. The guy who I talked to on the phone was friendly, too, and same for pickup. My ONLY dislike about this place is that it's in one of those teeny tiny plazas on Woodward, where you have to look out your side view window to get back out onto the street. I do like Thai street cafe but it's far for me drive and Bangkok 96 in Dearborn is too far to drive on the weekends. Until today. One of our meals, the Bangkok Chicken (breaded) was....to be honest, disgusting. My 9 year old called it out first, then I encountered the same. Neither one of us were able to fully eat the Chicken. It was stringy , over cooked and of the lowest quality. Without diving into jokes...it truly did not resemble Chicken. I called to let them know it was a bad meal - without seeking a refund or credit (just a heads up as a courtesy. That was apparently a mistake as the woman on the phone berated me and asked if I had ever had Bangkok Chicken before. Yes, we (my family), has. Heads up! Be aware. Honestly, Jessica C nailed it with the first part of the first line in her review, "the food here is decent". We ordered both the Tom Ka and Tom Yum soups, along with a few fresh wraps to start. The Tom Ka soup was probably the best part of my meal. The fresh wraps were ok as was the Tom Yum. On the entree sides, they were unfortunately out of scallops, so I got Pad Thai beef and we also got shrimp Pad Bai Gra Prow. Both were ordered with medium spice. I actually really love this place, however being a Celiac, I need to be really careful and constantly remind them how celiac disease works.
