So when I moved across the street from this place, it was hard to miss a sign that read Super Duper Weenie. It's only open during lunch hours. They have a variety of dogs, burgers, nuggets (really tenders since they're that big), and sandwiches. I've frequented most of their dogs. Fair price. Good snap to the hot dog skin. Toppings are plentiful. There's a few menu dogs but you can make your own. Dogs are more on the traditional side and don't really get too crazy. The small fries are like a large in most fast food restaurants. They're great fresh, but when they get a little cold, they get starchy quickly. The nuggets are good. They have the crumbly breading instead of a batter but good nonetheless. This is a nice spot for a quick lunch with plenty of options. Be prepared for a food coma afterwards though. read more

I found this place from a Yelp search and later on found out it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I was heading to watch a Cirque de Soleil show at the Webster Bank Arena which was about 7 minutes away and decided to visit for a quick lunch and I was happy with my lunch pick. Did not expect it, but loving Super Duper Weenie! I have passed by here so many times on my travels and seen their signs. As not a hot dog eater, I thought this place would not be my thing. WRONG! They claim to have grass fed and grass finished burgers (try to find this anywhere!) and orders are cooked to the liking requested--no mandatory well done burgers. Hallelujah! During this pandemic and in the midst of the heat wave, we easily ordered online. 2 burgers, MR, with the ability to choose our toppings and cheese type (thank goodness!). Also ordered was a small fry, small onion ring, and a Chicago dog. Our order was ready super duper fast in spite of all the customers coming and going on a busy and stifling hot Saturday afternoon. I went to Super Duper Weenie for the first time this weekend after it was recommended numerous times by a friend. In short it had one of the best hotdogs I've ever had (a hotdog with chili and cheese), and overall a very pleasant experience. The fries were tasty, as was the cheeseburger. Their signature weenies were a good cross section of American favorites, including the classic Chicago style. The weenies themselves were some of the most flavorful I have tasted. They were more beefy and seasoned than a standard dog. The buns for both the weenies and burgers were very, very good. They held up well under weight of plentiful toppings. Our plans went awry when the first spot we went to was closed, but we did get to Super Duper Weenie. The place is non-descript, we almost missed it despite navigation, but once you find it, it is worth it. The menu is diverse for a hot dog spot, offering the usual region dogs (Chicago, New York) with their twist. The recommendation was the New England, which someone in our party enjoyed. I went Chicago... really good... crisp pickle, sharp relish! The only downside was that the toppings overpowered the star of the show, the hot dog. My kids (who are picky about their dogs) devoured them. I would definitely recommend this spot if your are traveling through Connecticut (I wouldn't travel out of tour way). Not a huge fan of them but that maybe because I am not a major hotdog eater. (though they do have other things.) It is a cute place. My dad loves their food, in particular the hot dogs. I am more partial to their burgers myself plus they have great shakes. I am not a Super Duper Super fan though..LOL..Like some people. The prices here are very reasonable and it's a comfy setting. I like coming here occasionally, particularly in the warm weather. So last time I was here was with one person. She got a cheese burger and I got chicken nuggets. Mine was OK. I just wasn't wowed.. But that being said, I wish they would do something about their parking. The space is limited and I've had a difficult time both parking and finding the place as well. They are on a main road but it's difficult to see them, even with the GPS. The parking situation is quite bad although they do offer additional parking and it really cannot be helped, given their location. It is sort of the same with other places close by as well. There is a smallish diagonally spaced lot, but be careful because patrons grab every available square inch of the "non spot" spots. Some cretin parked directly behind me in a place that wasn't lined, and I could barely back out of my legal space without hitting him. The store is pretty small and is "vintage" - an ordering counter, some stools with a counter to eat, and an open kitchen to see the mountain of waiting fries and dozens of split dogs sizzling on the grill. A very cool sight to see. They sell quite a few Specialty Dogs (New Englander, Cincinnatian, Californian, Chicagoan, etc. These are all pre-set variations with precise formulas of Sauerkraut, bacon, mustard, sweet relish, raw onion, onion sauce, hot relish, lettuce, tomato, celery salt, pickle, homemade meat chili, American cheese, Cole slaw, sauerkraut, Cincinnati style chili and cheddar cheese. Of course you can get your dog naked, or with your choice of toppings. They also sell Georgia Red Hots, burgers, cheese steaks, chicken sandwiches, sausage sandwiches, veggie burgers, chicken nuggets and fries. There is a dining room with long picnic tables, and this is where we had our lunch (however we did see a few guys eating lunch in their parked cars). We had a dog with sauerkraut, a dog with cole slaw, and a Chicagoan dog. Honestly, the dogs were great. Pretty good sized, with great taste and great "snap". The rolls were very good too. My dog with slaw was perfect. Nice creamy cole slaw with just the right amount of zing, and that excellent split and grilled dog. My Chicagoan was a work of art! Walking in here the other day felt like walking back in time and onto the set of Dirty Dancing. Everything about this place feels like you are transported back to the early 1960s and I dig it. I stopped in around 1 pm on a Friday in June and the place was packed! I wasn't in a hot dog mood, so I went with a grilled chicken sandwich and once I saw the fries were hand-cut, I had to have those as well. I wanted to eat in but there wasn't space, until I discovered that if you turn the corner by the bathroom, there is an entire second room filled with picnic tables for dining. I decided to stay and loved the family style set-up, and I enjoyed speaking with a few customers around me. Everyone raved about their meals, with most people having a speciality hot dog and fries. I loved my chicken sandwich, I wish I added cheese, but I will next time. The hand-cut fries were great and the small size was more than enough for one person. For an $11 meal, I was more than full and pleasantly surprised. This place was busy the entire time I was there and never slowed down. Maybe that's why the parking lot was packed and was almost like an obstacle course to get in and out of. I know this place is a staple and people love it, but I think the name hurts them. The restaurant is small and the parking lot is a bit chaotic, especially during lunch hours, but the service itself was fast. The place was pretty crowded but everyone inside was wearing a mask. Once a year on my birthday, I take the train home from brooklyn to go back home to connecticut. Nope, its not to see my family its to go to Super Duper WEEEENIE!!!!!! This place has literally been one of my favorite places on earth ever since I was a little kid. This was the spot to go to after little league baseball games. The staff is always cool and the owner is the absolute man. Hes always been a classy dude throughout the years and is such a good cook. He makes more than just hot dogs. Hell have soup specials and philly cheesesteaks which are really good to. My mom and I have been regulars for a while so from time to time when we go in he would bring soemthing out and just say "let me know what you think of this" which was really really nice. I am a huge junk food connisour. This place takes the junk out of food and replaces it with the word "GORMET" in all caps. I have been and always will be an advcoate of the californian dog. That is what I have gotten everytime for the past couple of years. Been on that california train for a few years and dont plan on switching it up. I have had all of the hot dogs on the menu, and they are all good. He makes the relish and chili with absolute love and it is so flavorful. He also slices the hot dogs down the middle to get an even grill on both sides which is an absolute veteran move. Last thing I will talk about is the most important PSA in all of fairfield county. Ladies and gentlemen, if you like chicken tenders, you have to go here. They have the greatest homemade chicken tenders you will ever have in your life. I usually get a small order to split with my girlfriend and then we each get out own dog. The BBQ sauce is incredible too. I always ask for extra on the side if I splurge and get a small side of fries too. Last time I was there my mom made a comment to him about how good the BBQ sauce was and he told us everything that was in it (tons of awesome flavor) and followed up by saying he has a crew of dudes in Springfield who call ahead and ask if he has the sauce on desk so they can enjoy that blissful BBQ goodness after the long venture to food heaven. This guy is a gormet chef who who does some amazing work with his foods. Go in there and try whatever, ask questions, they will find something you love and you will find yourself taking a 2 hour train home on your birthday specifically to come in and go get a dog. Parking is limited there. There is a restaurant next door which opens later where I think you can allegedly park there depending on the time and day (could be false and dont want to give anyone the wrong advice), but either way, just park, walk from the lot across the street if you have to. Boyfriend saw this restaurant on Triple D (Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives) so we just HAD to try it... Parking up front is limited and pretty tight squeeze. Not sure if they have any additional parking out back? When I went in, I was overwhelmed with the amount of choices on the blackboard to my left. So many choices and had no idea where to start or what to order. Asked the cashier whether or not the Cincinnatian style chili was spicy (I don't like spicy). She asked me if I wanted to try it before ordering it. She came back with a small tasting of the Cincinnatian style chili and their homemade meat chili. To me, that's going above and beyond for customer service. She could have simply explained the taste to me but instead she offered a sample. Not only did she offer the sample I was asking about, but showed me another option to see which one I would like better. HUGE thumbs up to her for her kindness! They were both really good chilies but I decided to pick Cincinnatian because it was sweeter than the homemade chili. I sat at the counter in front of the kitchen (maybe 8 seats in the front of the restaurant, I think there was more seats in the back?). I enjoyed watching the three chefs preparing everyone's food. It looked like one person was in charge of fries, another in charge of burgers, and the other in charge of hotdogs. The cashier lady would jump in occasionally to do any milkshakes. The amount of orders that they get per minute just astonishes me. It looked like everyone kept their cool and the assembly line was working flawlessly. They were non-stop making food. I cannot tell a lie. The innuendo-inducing name of this place rendered it practically irresistible to me as a quick stop off the '95 on the way to Boston. I mean, c'mon? Super Duper Weenie? It needed a slather of butter and some time warming on the grill to revive it or something. (Fwiw, this was true of hubby's bun, too). Our Phairfield Cheesesteaks Sandwich: Kid went rogue and got this instead of a hot dog. Bun was ridiculously soggy, but I can't deny that based on the bite I managed to sneak, this was pretty tasty. House-made Onion Rings: LOVED these!!! Best part of our meal, imho. They lost some of their sparkle as they cooled so I'd recommend scarfing these down while they're still hot.
