We contacted five different electricians, but after about an hour on a Sunday, Super Electric called us back--and within another hour, they were at our home working on the breaker box right away. The inspection/quote was free, and they even got everything temporarily working during the visit. After diagnosing the issue, Jerry explained that we'd need a new breaker panel and to add proper grounding, since one of the breakers was burned and could become a fire hazard--especially with our home being from the 1940s. I was honestly worried it would be really expensive, especially since this was our first quote--but the price was actually reasonable, so we decided to move forward. They started the job the very next day--even in the rain. We felt bad because the weather was rough, but they stayed professional and clearly knew what they were doing. My new go to electricians! We had an electrical issue late at night on a weekend and couldn't wait until Monday for service. I checked Yelp and thankfully found Super Electric. They answered right away when I called and had me scheduled that night even though it was after 10:PM. The office called to let me know Jerry just finished another service call and would now be on the way to my house. Once he arrived he got straight to work, found out what the issue was and repaired the wiring fast. I was expecting crazy high pricing as it was past midnight when the job was finished but I was thankfully surprised at the price. It was about the same that a normal service call would be. High quality service and reasonable rates!!! We just moved into a 100 year old home and needed to get some wiring installed for 2 exterior security cameras as well as 240V plug for electric car charging in the garage. We had a few quotes and they were kind of all over the place depending on the business. A general contractor quoted me $2000 which I thought was ABSURD because I had a family friend do this exact work for $300 at my old house. Obviously I wasn't expecting family friend prices but I know materials is like $50 bucks for this kind of work since I already had the cameras. Super Electric quoted us at $950 which seemed more than fair. This was also in the Berkeley area which I think is slightly outside of their normal service area and they still accepted the job. Their guy came out and got the work done in a couple hours. He made sure to check with me about where exactly we wanted to place the cameras and didn't give us any hassle about wearing booties inside the home. After setting up the wiring for the cameras he also installed the cameras themselves which we bought previously. For the car charger their guy explained to me where they were putting the breaker for it and what had to get moved. For some reason the plug didn't fit initially but they had extras and had one that was the right fit for our car charger. When I plugged the car in to test it there was a warning sign about it not being grounded, but their guy fixed it on the spot. We had also asked about updating the doorbell transformer so we could use a ring camera doorbell by the front door, but on the day of their guy couldn't find the transformer to make the swap to a new one. When we reached out to Super Electric about it Michael himself came out to help us find it and also double check everything was good with the car charger. Michael and one of his guys (also named Mike) found the transformer in the attic and swapped it for a new one I had bought previously. Getting up to the attic wasn't easy either, but Mike got in there and found it in 30 seconds. I can't thank these guys enough for helping us out with this extra thing! If we didn't find this transformer I would have been stuck swapping out the batteries on a battery operated doorbell for the rest of my life!!! The owner Michael also double checked the car charger and added an extra ground wire for the plug since the one on the sub panel was kinda janky (previous home owners). He also answered some questions I had about upgrading the sub panel from 100 amps to 200. He let me know I didn't have to and still had room on the panel, which really spoke volumes about his integrity since I'm sure some less honest folks out there would try to upsell me on this. Did I mention it was around the holidays but they still came out to make sure we were good to go!? Seriously I can't recommend these guys enough! I'm normally very nitpicky with home improvements and these guys really went the extra mile to make sure we had a perfect outcome! read more
