They did a great job on installing some ceiling lighting fixtures, but without asking, they threw away the original and expensive pendants which we had wanted to move to a different spot. Was told that the contract specified all old fixtures would be thrown away unless they were told otherwise, so just a heads up to future customers if you want to keep your original fixtures. All other electricians have always kept the old stuff and checked with me before throwing it out. read more

I had previously purchased a Generac generator & transfer switch from MEL Electric. I was not satisfied with their service after purchase when I had trouble with the generator. I didn't write a review at the time. Currently, I had an issue that was potentially very dangerous. MEL Electric had redone my electric panel. They installed a breaker which was the wrong amperage for a circuit and labeled it incorrectly. My current electrician told me this was dangerous. It is possible that MEL just rewired the panel as the previous one had been, I don't know. Nevertheless, it was a mistake that I had to pay someone else to repair. read more

Paul, Following up with your notice that the smoke detector in the entrance is beeping, a very annoying high pitch noise and a red light is flashing. I contacted John Gregorio the project manager for MEL Electric, (the installing subcontractor), at first, he told me they would do the replacement Friday when they would be present to install the balance of the Forbes and Lomax switches and plates. I told him that was not good enough, he went to say, that to have personnel there tomorrow would up end his whole schedule for tomorrow. I told him the Cassels our client is dealing with an extremely annoying beep in a brand-new installation, must be tomorrow! He said, this will up end his schedule and will affect many of his current clients. He said, he will have someone there before 10am....Terrible customer service.. Thank you for trying Nels I would have sincerely thought for a job of this quality Mel Electric would have been honorable enough to stand behind their work and rectify today as the noise is extremely irritating and I have a house full of guests for dinner . MEL Electric just installed four ceiling fans at my home. I was referred to Mel's Electric by a friend who has used them before, and I can't agree more. Max and Eric showed up 15 mins early and waited until 8 AM to knock on my door. They were professional and knew exactly what to do. Both Max and Eric kept my wife and I informed step-by-step on precisely what they were doing and did not have any Hiccups during the installation. I started with three ceiling fans at first, but when I saw the outcome of what Max and Eric did, I had to get another fan installed in my office. It was a last-minute request, and Max stated it would not be a problem, although he did not have enough equipment to install the 4th one; if I don't mind going to Lowe's and picking up what he needed, he can have the 4th fan installed, and he made it happen. My wife and I couldn't be happier, and they completed the job in a timely fashion and were done by 3:30 PM. Where do I start. I contacted MEL regarding a Generac generator after getting the runaround from the manufacturer. I received an appointment. Matt showed up on time and we discussed my requirements. He gave me alternatives and a ball park estimate. Within days I received a firm contract via email. The scope of work included everything including acquisition and delivery of the generator, installation by MEL and a licensed plumber. They researched and pulled permits. After accepting the contract and a payment for the generator I was given a ballpark installation date dependent on delivery of the generator. Once the generator was secured I was given a firm installation date. Ebony frequently called to update me on status and to answer any questions. Matt and the crew showed up as promised and the work was complete within the day. Installation was neat and professional. The next day a member of Mell's crew showed up to meet the county inspector. He then covered the generator and transfer switch operation in perfect detail. Afterwards there was a full test and the generator was set up for it's biweekly test. One big lesson from my experience: Don't attempt to install a generator without a experienced partner. MEL Electric is a personal and professional organization, period. read more
