Super Sandy's is an absolute gem! We started with the appetizer sampler, which offered a wonderful, yummy variety of flavors to kick off our meal. For our main courses, we ordered the mixed grill plate for two to feed three people, and it was so massive that we still ended up taking food home! We also got the corn pepito, and oh my goodness--it was just as yummy the next day for lunch. The restaurant is a little hard to spot from the main road, but there is plenty of good parking once you find it. How have I been missing this place! We were looking for something different in the Flower Mound area and thought we would stop in. When we walked in we were greeted right away and the server was super friendly the whole time. The restaurant is very nice, clean, and inviting with a good amount of tables. The menu is HUGE with tons of options. We decided on the Super Sandy Arepa as well as the Han and Cheese and Ground Beef Empanadas. Everything was incredibly fresh and tasty! This one is hard to rate. The food was better than the 3 stars or "OK". The food was very good, 4 starts into the very good area. It's just the rest of the "experience" that was strange. Super Sandys is kind of hidden away in this little strip center. Sun screens actually block the door, and it's not labeled very well, so it's a bit hard to find. Once in, we were 'kind of' told to sit anywhere. We were handed menus and then asked what we wanted. "Uh, could we look at the menu first?" So she came back very shortly. The young lady who waited on us, seemed to be nice, but she spoke zero as in no English. My Spanish is muey piquto, and the gentlemen I was traveling with spoke even less, so it wasn't a good combo, especially when he had questions on the menu. We ordered, by basically pointing at the dishes we wanted and off she went. Then another lady brought us cups of soup. My business companion asked me if we had ordered soup? Nope. But then I've had a few places that do a little cup of soup or beans, etc. with every order. Fine, and the chicken soup was very good. Then our food orders came. And yep, the food was really good. We finished it up, and the bill came. That's when we found out that the soup, which we didn't order wasn't free or included. It was $4.95 a cup. Super Sandy's is a hidden gem tucked away in Lewisville. Literally, you can't see it until you're almost at its parking (which there was plenty of when I went). The restaurant is clean and modern with a bright and welcoming aesthetic. The waitperson on staff was incredibly attentive and friendly; she was not confident in her English but my Spanish and her English combined were enough that all of our food (even with change requests) came out exactly as ordered and cooked to perfection. If you don't speak Spanish, don't let this dissuade you, she was very knowledgeable about the menu and knew exactly what my non-Spanish companions wanted without my subpar linguistic assistance. She made fantastic recommendations and accurately told us that everything on the menu was good. The menu had a great variety from shawarma to empanadas. The waitperson was very good about proactively telling us what they were out of (only a couple of things--lasagna and soup). I don't think you can go wrong with anything you can choose. I ordered the Pepito with mushrooms and chicken. It was AMAZING. Perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. My husband ordered a cordon bleu and a fish empanada along with a pizza pastele. Our daughter ordered the Venezuelan take on chicken shawarma. They greatly enjoyed their meals and we all enjoyed the mini empanadas we shared (two pork, two beef, and two chicken is the default). I also savored every drop of my Especial Super Sandys cocktail. This is a unique little cafe in Flower Mound. We were looking for something new and different; off our beaten path. Well...we found it, thanks to YELP!! It's advertised as Venezuelan cuisine and we had no idea what that meant. However, we do enjoy empanadas and they listed them on their menu. We ordered several pasteles and 1 empanada. I'm not sure what the difference is....they're both like a hand-held fried pie. The E's are larger than the P's. The ground beef variety was our favorite....VERY good. The ham and cheese was the next best. The pizza flavor was OK, but wouldn't order it again. The chicken variety was our least favorite. The creamy cilantro dipping sauce was amazing!! Located in Flower Mound, Super Sandy's is hidden behind the shops located along Cross Timber Road where you see an unassuming entrance and inside a honey vibe with some modest seating. We ordered four different types of grilled empanadas. Staff and service here is very friendly and there is some quality here. I had the chicken, camarones (shrimp) and two types of beef empanadas. One was shredded beef and the other had cheese in it. Was greasy delicious comfort food at its finest. Oh my goodness, what a find! We ordered empanadas: beef, chicken, and ham/cheese, chicken arepas, and the sopa de rez (beef soup). The flavors were hands down amazing! The empanadas were huge, a lot bigger than ones I'm used to! But the soup, I will be craving this broth for years to come. It really doesn't get better than this place. Although there was a language barrier, we weren't left hanging to figure out why to order. Everyone was so helpful and patient. Give them a try, you'll be back. If it's your first time, don't be discouraged by the location. It's tucked into a corner between buildings and not visible from the street. This place is amazing! We ordered the Arepas (chicken), empanadas (shrimp and pabellon), Cachapa with fried pork. Every single thing was fantastic! The fried pork was a major stand out and cooked perfectly. They also gave a sauce that was amazing on everything. I don't know what the sauce is but it seemed to be cilantro based and was one of the best sauces I have ever had! Tucked away in a back corner making you think it's the rear entrance of another store from youll find super Sandy's. It takes a minute to find it but the search is worth the hunt. While largely Hispanic speaking made it hard for this monolingual everyone was kind and happy to help where they could. I had done my research and found pictures of what I wanted ahead of time and I was not let down. Start off with some tequinos. These are like small dinner rolls baked to perfection around a pillow of delicious cheese. Then I went with the empanada de pabellon. My gosh. The pork was tender and beautifully seasoned. The beans and cheese surrounded it all and kept it warm while adding a great texture and taste and the plantain sweetness helped balance it all. I'll be back Sandy! It's a small hole in the wall place that is hidden on the opposite side of the Point After North. I honestly thought that was where the Point After North Employees parked and that was their rear entrance, but it's Super Sandys storefront. Their empanadas are big and filling.
