Ever since I first heard about Super Secret Ice Cream, it's been on my must-try list. The concept sounded so unique, and a flight of ice cream is basically my dream way to eat ice cream--I always struggle to choose just one flavor. The shop makes tiny-batch ice cream from scratch up in the White Mountains, and it shows in the quality. I went for the egg-carton flight, which came with six flavors: Slopeside Mint Chip, Trillium Coffee, Single Origin Chocolate, Honeycomb, Mount Cabot Maple, and one more I can't quite remember. Each scoop had its own personality--bright mint, bold coffee, rich chocolate, and the maple and honeycomb were especially standout. The space itself is a fun little spot, perfect for a hot day. Portions aren't huge, which I actually liked because it felt more like a treat or snack rather than an overload. My only gripe is that the flavors aren't labeled on the carton, so it can be a bit of a guessing game figuring out what you're tasting. Overall though, between the creativity, the locally inspired flavors, and the chance to try a bunch at once, it's absolutely worth the stop if you're in the area.

You know how some places are overhyped? This place is definitely NOT one of them! Super Secret lives up to every bit of its hype. It has won various awards, and after just one taste of their ice cream, you'll think to yourself: "Ah, okay - now it all makes sense." I'm finding it hard to accurately describe the flavor explosion when I took a bite of the strawberry shortcake ice cream. It was sweet and tangy, with a crumbly crunch in every bite from the graham cracker. It's as if the strawberry shortcake pops you got from the ice cream truck as a kid were somehow 10 times more delicious and folded into creamy, strawberry ice cream. The place itself is adorable, with plenty of options for outdoor seating both in the front and back. There's even a board where you can spell out words with magnetic letters and a giant checkers game. They've somehow nailed incredible ice cream with a super cool vibe. Service is always fast, friendly, and happy to help you find the right flavor by letting you sample different options. This place is a MUST visit in the Western White Mountains!

It was good, creamy and creative flavored ice cream. I found the flavors to be a little muted and the waffle cone but chewy, I like mine crunchy. That is just a personal preference. Worth a stop if you are in the mood for homemade ice cream.

Great ice cream! Beware of some the flavours though, a little weird and not enjoyable. I tried the chai which was too much. The honeycomb was delicious. Got the mint chocolate chip, which isn't like any other other mint chocolate chip ice cream you have had, it didn't even taste like mint or could taste the chocolate in the chips - I had to go back in and change it as it was disgusting, tasted like anise or something - apparently they steep the mint - they need to work on the flavourings for it. Service wasn't that friendly. Prices weren't that clear on prices for waffles cones.

We only had ice cream. This place has about 14 or 15 flavors. The only one you will recognize one is chocolate. The others are locally sourced and unique flavors. Service is pleasant and prompt. You can try as many as you like. They make their own waffle cones which are yummy. Highly recommended.

I've been dying to come here for a long time, so glad we finally made it! I love that everything is made from local ingredients and fresh. The ice cream is amazing, and my husband said it was the best rootbeer float he's ever had. The strawberry shortcake ice cream taste exactly like the ice cream bars but so much better! They're busy but we got out ice cream right away. And it was so nice to sit outside and eat it. If you're in the White Mountain area, you have to stop in!

We drove a few times and the line was always long. We had to stop before our trip was over and it was worth it. It was early on a Sunday evening. We managed a spot in the small lot. We had a hard time deciding on flavor so we decided on the flight with 6 scoops. The waffle chips were suggested for dipping. A great idea! And very fresh, yummy waffle chips. There are quite a few tables inside and lots outside. There are windows in back where you can see where they make the ice cream. The place is bright and clean. The staff was upbeat and friendly. The ice cream is home made using fresh ingredients, which is evident in the taste. My husband's favorites were the blueberry basil and the malted milk and fudge. My favorites were the honeycomb and the sweetberry honeysuckle.

My favorite ice cream, period. The flavors are inventive and feature fresh local ingredients. Today I tried blueberry basil which reminded me of some of the unique flavors I found in Japan when I lived there. SSIC is a gem in Bethlehem, not so secret anymore.

This place is def not a secret! We stopped by after a hike in the afternoon and it was pretty busy. Service was friendly and as fast as they could be. Even tho the line was long, I tried a couple of flavors and they were totally cool about it. My hubby got the butter cake on a waffle cone and I got good ol' vanilla bean with caramel sauce in a waffle bowl. I cannot wait to come back when I'm in the area. The store is super cute inside- very modern and bright. There is space outside to eat your sweet treat and relax. My only suggestion would be to serve Fat Toads Goat milk caramel. The homemade one was good, but Fat Toads would take it over the top!! IYKYK

Fabulous flavors, made in-house. Friendly service. Generous servings. Their vanilla creme fraiche flavor was the best vanilla ice cream I've had in a long time. I paired it with their single origin chocolate. Delicious! I wished I was hungrier as there were several more flavors I wanted to eat.

    Sampling Selection!

What a wonderful find! Amazing flavors!! Favorite was the Blueberry, enjoyed the creamy vanilla and the chocolate - like wow. Not sugary sweet, the cocoa (?) flavor was so delicious...ok we had a bowl tasting all the flavors! Clean, friendly folk with our pup able to be on the outside deck! Go and support..hope we get back to try other flavors!!

Some of the best ice cream I've ever had and a true hidden gem on the near the border of Vermont/New Hampshire! The ice cream flavors were very unique and fitting for the Fall season. The server was super friendly and patient with us as we tried a bunch of flavors (wasn't an easy decision to make, they were all so good!). I ended up getting a cone with a scoop each of the Honeycomb and Apple Bourbon Crisp. Both flavors had just the right amount of sweetness and great texture from the added bits of honeycomb and apple jam. They don't skimp on the scoops either! The store itself is large, well-lit, and comfy. They're also dog-friendly and have treats, too! 5/5, will definitely be back in the future!

Its icecream. Its good. But too expensive in my opinion. There are other options in the area for the same quality at 10-25% cheaper.

Cold Mountain Cafe is a perfect stop to turn a long drive into a nice date!…read more We definitely recommend this place, it's a solid 4 that comes off like a 5! We've passed through Bethlehem, NH a few of times as we've traveled between Maine and New Hampshire. A couple weeks ago I noticed a glowing little eatery as we hurried west on Route 2 en route to UMass Amherst. I didn't catch the name of the restaurant I'd noticed, but our return l timing worked to stop for dinner in Bethlehem, so as we headed back, Cary scoured Google and Yelp ...and based upon the menus and ambiance, we settled on Cold Mountain Cafe. Turns out this was the spot. Inside was just as welcoming as I'd anticipated. Nothing against small New England towns, ...but IMO you can't EXPECT a well-rounded professional restaurant package when you're in "two-hours-from-anywhere, New Hampshire". And IMHO, sometimes these fresh-movement country places are presented like funky hippy brightly lit hardscaped cafe's with busy chalkboard menus that look like 60's concert posters. Not Cold Mountain Cafe -the music, lighting and decor was perfectly contemporary ...relaxing ...inviting comfortable conversation. The menu and pricing were well thought out, offering an assortment of cultural fare with asian, french, American, East Indian entrees that ranged from smash-burger, pot pie comfort food, to bistro steak and seared scallops. Unexpected additions like bean cake and Indian lamb stew entrees offered a pleasant, funky twist. Entrees ranged from $19 to $38. The two drinks we tried were really great! I had the Brooklyn and Cary had the Espresso Lovers Martini. I think Cary put it perfectly when she said that the Brooklyn was like desert! The espresso martini was notable because it was made with rum, instead of vodka and it used fresh espresso, giving it a luscious Tia Maria feel. Both drinks had a wonderful silky smooth mouth feel. The waitstaff was not uniformed, but in semi-formal server attire with all black garments and waist aprons. The service was friendly, professional and attentive... our waitress brought us some warm crispy tender dinner rolls with garlicky seasoned oil dipping sauce, took our orders at our pace and checked in on us throughout the meal. The mushroom polenta app was great... smooth, creamy and fresh with balanced earthy woodsy and smoky notes. The pea soup was a bit brighter and fresher than I'm used to (growing up in Boston, my mom made the best pea soup ...a more hearty version with pork meat always made in the days following a smoked shoulder meal), but in the New England small town country, farm-fresh motif, we liked the bright, fresh pea flavors... Cary was concerned about what she would order because she was put off by the steak entree's smoked Gouda sauce. So she had the lamb stew, which was a compromise. Me? I'd spent the previous couple of days at a hotel hanging around UMass, which means a lot more carbs than I want... smash burgers, burritos, eggs Bennies... oof! So I definitely was feeling like something light... and decided to be crazy and try the bean cake. Cary's stew was nice. It didn't hit you over the head, but it had balanced signature Indian flavors, and was nicely presented. We're not volume-conscious but both thought it could have had a couple more pieces of lamb. I enjoyed my bean cake -although I don't really have anything to compare it to. The waitress said it was hearty, so I rolled the dice. I'd probably try it again... it flavorful and satisfying. The chèvre and ginger dressing supplied a good level of moisture and flavor notes to the breaded spiced bean and rice patty. I'd add that the plating on a bed of fresh spinach presented a little bit of a challenge as I had to pierce a few baby fresh spinach leafs at a time, then add the bean cake... but it was manageable... The menu changes seasonally, so we're looking forward to checking in on our next pan New England journey.
