Seating was arranged in compliance with Covid restrictions and the manager/hostess tried to keep everyone as far apart as possible. The dining room, which has a beautiful view of a river.is fairly plain but comfortable. Service was excellent - prompt and courteous. The food was the best part though. Salads were fresh and homemade dressings were delicious. My steak was perfect and my wife's shrimp tacos were good also. Drinks were very good. Prices for everything were very reasonable. If we find ourselves near Mt Washington again we'll be back.

The ice cream was rich, at the right serving temperature for quality soft serve, and white. It was like dairy queen and on par with Carvel. The last night we came just before closing and the soft serve was not velvety smooth. It looked wet. It looked slightly off white with a hint of yellow-this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it resembled more an ice milk soft serve. I figured they were powering down the machine so it would be so cold... I gave them another chance tonight and it was the same product, and why i have not been back in a few years. Long story short - I waited over 45 minutes for my order. Now if I had been on my own, this would not even have been an issue, or a comment even. But someone with zero patience was waiting for me... I however, cannot fault this place. *Everything* is made to order, from scratch - even the pierogi. And they were absolutely packed, every table taken, mostly with locals (everyone was greeting each other) so I get the wait. Maybe there could be a way to preorder stuff if it's going to be for takeout...? I'll have to phone and ask next time. The cheddar pierogi were spectacular and worth the wait. The cookies too. The coffee too - the best I've had in town! You could taste the REAL butter in the food. I've seen that they will be at Schilling's Oktoberfest and I will absolutely visit them there!

After debating, we ended up ordering the 2 slice French toast for me and 3 slice for BF. I opted for sausage links and we both wanted real maple syrup which was $1.69 per small bottle. I wanted a glass of water but was told it might not be safe given something, so got bottled water with no ice . BF got coffee that was just ok. We didn't have to wait long for the food. French toast was mediocre - a bit dry - needed more soak time in egg. Butter was cold so did not melt on bread. Maple syrup was cold as well , making the French toast cold overall. Too bad. The sausage links were the brown and serve sausages you get frozen and were over cooked. See photo - just not very good. I hope she improves her cooking skills as there are not many breakfast/lunch spots in Lancaster open on Mondays. However with a tab of $22.00 I would not return unless reviews become glowing. Dropping off our food was the last time we saw our person for the 45 minutes, no check in no drink top off nothing. When we finally saw our server again it was with our check, no "how was everything? any room for dessert?" My daughter did want something and our server seemed pretty annoyed with that. Part of me feels bad for leaving a $5 tip on a $50 check but the tip isn't about the food (which as I said was hot and tasty) it's about the service.
