We have just finished our  home renovation with Superb builders, and I am ecstatic over the changes and the difference it has made for a home that has not been touched in over 50 years.  David has a skill in seeing what most other contractors or designers cannot imagine. Victor (project manager/foreman) has everything in control, day to day, and does not forget a thing.  We interviewed four other contractors, and they couldn't come up with the right floorplan for our kitchen. We did not want to settle.  David designed our kitchen and more than doubled the size.  No problem moving plumbing or switching to gas from electric and finding a better home for our fridge. Our primary bathroom was completely gutted to add a stand-alone tub, and Superb designed a walk-in closet and additional hall closet taking a foot from the adjoining room, which you would never be able to tell. He has a crew for different sets of workmanship, and they know exactly what to do in a strategic time frame. They do not waste any time and clean up the projects beautifully every day.  We had completely gutted our kitchen and primary bathroom. Had the whole house rewired, new plumbing, new LED lights throughout the house, all new flooring on the first floor, and refinished all flooring upstairs.   Superb builders accommodated every wishlist we had.  Their workmanship is precise, clean and the crew are very helpful and pleasant to work with from beginning to end.   Our biggest appreciation is that David and Victor picked up their phones or returned texts right away 100%. They passed every inspection every time, and they have done the work beyond the requirements. We are so happy to know that all the work has been done properly and safely. Superb builders remodeled our kitchen in January 2020. Joe helped me to select the materials and design, and he was very knowledgeable. I wouldn't have been able to come up with such a wonderful design without his advices. Additionally, the cabinet vendor he recommended had great prices and they assisted with designing the kitchen layout by providing computer drawn images using software. This saved a lot of time in the planning stage. Joe was our primary point of contact from start to finish, which made things go smoothly. During project execution, Victor was an invaluable point of contact for discussing and explaining technical details about our options, especially when inevitable complications arose. When we demo'd our old kitchen we found a major code violation that was concealed and they helped us correct the issue. It cost us extra but looking back I'm happy we worked with an ethically sound contractor who does things correctly and follows the city code. Those things can be huge problems later if you try to cut corners! Overall we had a great experience with Superb Builders and would definitely hire them again. This company is all inclusive. I had my 40 year old kitchen totally remodeled. The foreman layer out our plans, made the detailed blueprints and furnished me with their discount suppliers. I got custom cabinents, counters, appliances as well as picking my own moldings, lighting and paint. All I had to do was shop. They took care of getting everything to the job site in the order required. The workers were always ontime, wore masks and totally cleaned the work area every evening. I found Superb Builders online and arranged an on-site review and estimate. Eli came out promptly, understood my vision and even gave some great design updates for my condo in San Francisco. I received bids from 5 other contractors but was most impressed with theirs because of their confidence to get the job done in under two months, familiarity with construction work in San Francisco, and competitive pricing. I reached out to some of their references and got good tips - both positive and constructive recommendations - which were very helpful in the decision making process. I also visited one of their San Francisco projects to get a sense of their work in person. My project included updating two bathrooms, kitchen, flooring throughout, and some demolition of dated items like built ins and fireplaces. They started the project on time and finished EARLY! (6 weeks) And I couldn't be any more pleased with the quality of work. My neighbors in my condo building were impressed too: Superb consistently had a crew of workers on site getting the job done; respected noise and working hour restrictions; kept the common areas clean; and were just overall friendly - Raul especially! As with any construction work, hiccups are to be expected. In my case it was with my downstairs neighbor - some nail pops caused by jackhammering and a pipe leakage caused by a small screw that poked a pipe when sealing up drywall. The leak was noticed the day after full payment was made and both David (the owner) and my foreman (Victor) were immediately responsive and the issue got addressed first thing in the morning - including repairs to my neighbor's unit. We were struggling to add more storage space in our kitchen and replace our outdated 30" electric range with a more modern unit. We also wanted to update our cabinet doors which had a dated design. Eli Ben convinced us that replacing all the cabinets would only be a tad more expensive than replacing the doors on the old ones, and gave us many more options. Then he showed us how we could double the size of our old island, giving way more storage space. Eli also showed us how we could replace the floors in our kitchen, living room and entry to give the house a brand-new contemporary look. He wanted to replace our old tiled entry with an engineered wood, so we would have a consistent appearance throughout the house. We were worried about wood flooring in the entry, but we found a porcelain tile with a wood-grain pattern that almost precisely matched the wood we used elsewhere, so we implemented Eli's design using our choice of materials. We really liked Superb's approach of letting us purchase expensive materials like cabinets, flooring and fixtures directly from suppliers, so we got contractors' prices without any markup. I wish other contractors would take this approach. All-in-all, we ended up doing a lot more than we originally intended, and we spent a bit more, but we got a "no-compromises" design that we love and will be happy with for years to come. read more

Superb builder took on a project to do floors (with baseboards) and a half bathroom remodel (with a tricky fan installation). In the end the project was successful and for the original quote a good price. There were some bumps and hiccups along the way but Joe made sure to do right me. These are good contractors and good people, I would definitely trust them to be honest and tell you the truth to their best knowledge. I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the bumps along the way, which did cause me stress. read more

Superb Builders lives up to its name. They just completed a two month project for me and I am amazed at how smoothly everything went. The project was the remodeling and renovation of a cottage in the Mission District of San Francisco. The cottage was built around 1900 and was in bad shape from many years of neglect. The kitchen and bathroom had to be gutted and rebuilt and all the rooms needed new wall board and sheet rock, electrical outlets, lighting and plumbing, new bathroom and kitchen appliance etc,,, the project manager, Victor, was on top of everything. He came by at least once a day to check the work being done and give work assignments to the crew. He was always available if I had any questions or concerns. The crew was phenomenal! Anywhere from 2 to 10 workers were on the job each day. There was never any down time. The work progressed seamlessly from one specialist to the next, all under the watchful eye of Victor. These guys took their work seriously...no slackers here. One of the best parts of the project was watching the bathroom and kitchen being demolished and then rebuilt again to current stamdards. The final activities were new wood floors, tiling in the bathroom and a flawless paint job throughout. I want to thank David King, the owner, for making this project enjoyable for me and always being attentive. And I want to thank Victor and the crew for their hard work. Super Builders just completed a kitchen upgrade in my house. Benjamin's estimate was 8 weeks. The project was completed in 7 weeks even with the addendum to upgrade the powder room and install new flooring in the living room area, foyer and stairs. I got the backsplash, counter top, kitchen island, wine rack, recessed lighting and type of flooring I wanted. Lighting under the cabinets is definitely a nice touch. There were minor details I felt should've been included in the powder room upgrade but were not. However, I have the cabinet and counter top that matched the kitchen's and a gorgeous vessel sink that I asked for. I'm a little disappointed they could not get the waterfall faucet I wanted because it would've looked awesome with the vessel sink. The backsplash is a different material from the counter top but it's not totally way off. The finished product looks good. Since the project was completed last week, I found little details that need to be addressed. Benjamin promised to get them addressed by Thursday this week. So far, he has a good track record of returning my calls and texts and responding to my requests. As with any upgrade, it was very stressful. At times, it felt like I was making scheduled payments ahead of the work getting completed which I felt uncomfortable about. But Benjamin and the work crew proved to be trustworthy which is why I'm giving them a 5 star rating. I have my dream kitchen. I'm happy I chose Superb Builders to do my kitchen upgrade. It's been 12months and just myself living here... the flooring is buckling and chipping. Also just found out they never finished and never got approved by the city for the permit. We met the project manager, Eli, for a kitchen remodel which included tearing down the walls separating the living room and kitchen. He was very proactive in suggesting items that we may anyways have wanted to do, e.g. painting, upgrading electricals and flooring in both the living and kitchen. This was something that most other contractors we interviewed skipped. We were very concerned about whether the wall to be torn down was load bearing or not. So Eli came back the next day with his foreman, and actually entered the attic to check the beams to ensure our concerns were addressed. His price quote was also pretty reasonable. While eventually we proceeded to work with another contractor, we wouldn't mind working with Superb builders in the future. read more

Joe the general contractor tried to get out of his signed and agreed upon contract by coming up with the most pathetic bs excuses. He did this to us the very last week before we submit to HoA for approval. Disgusting, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. The worst experience ever. All I can say is karma. The renovations included a bathroom remodel (tile, plumbing, flooring, new shower/tub), sunroom redo (drywall, lighting, new closet) and misc updates(recessed lighting and closet door installs and ceiling fan installations in 4 rooms). We were waiting to move in until the work was complete so really appreciated how quickly the team worked to get the job done in a timely manner. We recently completed a full kitchen remodel on our 1930's house in San Francisco. We hired Superb Builders and are so happy with the outcome. We wanted to remain true to the character of the house, but with modern touches. Benjamin was fantastic to work with and a really good project manager. Some of the biggest positives were: 1) Craftsmanship - Everything was done to a high quality. We were especially concerned about the encaustic cement tiles on the floor. They were expensive and they had to be installed in a very particular way, and they turned out fantastic. 2) Workers - All the workers that came to our house were very polite and helpful. They made sure they did the work to our specifications. We also always felt like we could trust them when we weren't home. 3) Easy to work with - Whenever something didn't go as planned or like we wanted, Benjamin and his crew were very quick to fix the issue, or to explain what they could and couldn't do. 4) Design assistance - We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted in our kitchen and the style. Benjamin came up with some suggestions that were really good that we incorporated into the design. 5) Price - Superb was not the cheapest bid we received and they were not the most expensive. But we do feel like we got an excellent value for the quality of the work. We feel like we will more than get the value back if we ever sell our house. Of course, not everything goes perfectly when you do a big remodel job. Scheduling sometimes fell behind, but considering the difficulty of getting skilled workers in the Bay area, we did not feel the delays were unreasonable. MIDDLE MEN. NOT CONTRACTORS. We worked with David after working with Roy. Roy does not know anything about construction possibilities, SF codes, or even the products he tries to sell you from East Star builders. Multiple times we were told "yes" only to find "yes" was never a possibility. It was very much all about rushing us through without caring at all about the project. (He couldn't even remember basic details about the job from one meeting to the next.) We were told Roy was "brand new" (not according to Yelp!) so we'd work with David. David is the owner who literally bullied us when *we backed out (our scope drastically scaled back but the cost remained exactly the same!) until around flipping and refunding us our money once he realized we aren't ones to be taken advantage . (*The owner replied in-Yelp, below asserting he canceled our project. Lie. He bullied us over the phone and in emails to try to get us not to cancel when they refused to lower their quote when the scope of work greatly decreased. You are making your own bed if you chose to work with these delusional/manipulative people.) Superb Builders did our kitchen and bathroom remodel and we are so delighted with the result. The remodel team was great. Eli was the project manager, and he led and advised us through our first ever remodel. He had very helpful suggestions, and was also very responsive to our desires and preferences. I appreciated that he always responded to our calls and messages and I also enjoyed working with his enthusiasm and creative ideas. Victor, the foreman of the work crew, is incredibly busy, but was also responsive. The work crews were polite, hard workers, respectful of our space , and there were a couple of true artisans on the team, and I'm sorry I cannot remember their names. One did the tiling in the bathroom, and did an incredible job with great attention to detail. The bathroom is my favorite room in the house now! In order to remodel, the original, circa 1939, and beautiful molding from our dining room, had to be removed It was in many pieces, and I thought we had lost it - but this guy painstakingly put it together again, and it looks perfect. The work took 5 weeks to complete, and finished a couple of days before shelter-in -place - made us happy! Of course, no remodel job is perfect. The crew did not put up adequate plastic barriers for dust when demolishing the kitchen, and thus the house filled up with dust. They redeemed themselves on the bathroom demo though. And the tape they used to attach the plastic sheets to the floor stripped the finish off the parquet floor - so now we have stripes in some areas. Not a good thing, but fortunately our floors are already damaged by decades of kids and pets. We learned that it is important in any remodel, to pay attention to the small everyday details and stay on top of communication with the contractor and team. that is why 4 stars and not 5. Am I the first person to write a review of this company? If so, great! Superb Builders built my kitchen. More specifically, they gutted my old one and built a new one that looks like it came straight out of Architectural Digest. I kid you not. They are hands-down the best contractor I have ever worked with. And no, I don't work for the Company. My townhouse was built in the late 70's. I bought it in 2002. Although the previous owners had installed a new granite countertop pretty much the rest of the kitchen was original. In other words, it was time for an update. However, the mere thought of redoing my kitchen sent chills down my spine. There are hundreds of options for kitchens and even more hundreds of contractors willing to take your money. So, yes, it is scary. So, let me tell you my story and maybe you might come away with some good ideas and a new kitchen. I started by trolling the internet for kitchen ideas. Well, there are only tens of thousands of combinations of counter-tops (marble? granite? concrete? wood?), flooring (hardwood? laminate? tile? vinyl?), cabinets...ok, you get the picture. Way too many choices. I am the type of guy who has only brown socks. If I had black and brown I would never make it to work in the morning since I would agonize over what color of socks to wear. I will tell you that I read a Consumer reports article on kitchens which I found very helpful. Consumer Reports does an annual "kitchen" article. Go to any library and make a copy. I relied on it when comparing quality of materials and products. I did pick out some kitchen ideas (which were later discarded, as I will explain shortly) and then I started interviewing contractors and getting quotes. I went to some local kitchen showrooms, talked with salespeople ( a few of whom wanted money upfront before they would come to my home to do a survey) and got four contractors to come to my home. Yani of Superb Builders was one of the contractors. I won't go into too much detail, but after spending time with each of the four contractors I got a very good vibe from Yani. He spent a considerable amount of time in my home with me discussing options and giving me advice. He gave me a quote, invited me to visit a kitchen showroom with him, and left. No pressure. Superb's quote was not the lowest, nor the highest. But I got a very good feeling from him. So, I took him up on his offer to visit a showroom in Santa Clara. We spent about an hour there just discussing options. I told him I would think about things and I would get back to him. Again, no pressure from him. I am friendly with a local real estate agent and I asked her what was "trending" in kitchens. Her answer: "white." I went back to the showroom on my own, picked out cabinets (white) and a counter-top (I was so proud of myself that I was able to make a decision!). Then I decided to go with Yani and Superb Builders. Again, I was going on a gut feel. I did not really do any background checking of his company, but I liked him. I called him and asked him to meet me at the showroom to go over my selections. We met the next day and I showed him my selections. He looked at me and said, "you don't want those." Whaaat?! That's right, my contractor told me that my selections were not good ones. He showed me a different set of cabinets (still white) and a different counter-top and told me these were much more durable and easy to clean. After closer examination I realized he was right. He then helped me select a sink, faucet and cabinet handles. The next day we signed a contract and the day after demolition started. Separately, Yani also accompanied me to Home Depot to select appliances. I was going to buy them directly but he told me he could get them 20% cheaper by using his contractor discount. Well, he was right. He also accompanied me to a tile store to pick out flooring and we spent at least an hour there reviewing colors and finishes. I don't think many contractors would do that. In the end, I really relied on him for color and finish choices. He did not let me down. He has an outstanding eye for color and finish combinations. The end product was spectacular. But, in my opinion (and the opinion of my neighbors who had seen my kitchen) was the incredible workmanship and attention to detail. If I had a concern about something Superb immediately addressed it. They are very customer focused. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is doing home remodeling work. read more

I worked with David King's assistant Roy most of the time. I'm not sure if they even deserve the three stars that I'm giving them. The three stars are for the work that was completed by the crew. The work overall was pretty good. We did a full bathroom remodel and some major repairs. However, here are some of the things I'm very unhappy about. 1) At the start Roy promised to complete a lot of things and continually changed this plan, added or deleted certain projects all the while continually charging us more and more money. 2) Roy told us we would plan for the remodel together. Roy later told us to design and purchase everything needed for the bathroom on our own with about two days notice. 3) While away for thanksgiving weekend Roy told us he would only demo the bathroom and leave access to the toilet at least. When we returned within three days the entire house was gutted, all of our belongings were piled into the kitchen leaving no access to our home except for the two bedrooms for Four Weeks!!!!! Books were thrown in the pantry, our camera was sitting in a pool of soap on the table, pictures were ruined etc.... the belongings weren't covered very well at all. Mind u I was pregnant those four weeks! They put a Port o potty on the sidewalk to accommodate us! 3) In the end Roy decided not to finish the last project and attempted to demand $1500 more dollars to finish it. 4) no clean up was done and our porch remains covered in paint splatter. Roy gave us $100 off to hire someone! 5) Items were stolen!!!!!! (Money was reimbursed but some things are just irreplaceable) I could go on and on but I won't. I'm just glad it's done and looks pretty good. I wish I could have the crew come back and do more but it's too much of a headache. On a good note the work was completed on time in six weeks as promised! My advice to Roy is to please write up a detailed and itemized contract before the work begins. Communication is key and really needs improvement. Discussing plans to demolish the entire home before hand so we could have packed up important belongings and planed for the lack of access to the home. In fact I do not believe the laundry room and living room needed to be done at the same time as the bathroom and that was a little ridiculous. This is the first time we used Superb Builders. Our outside walkway was cracked and the laundry room would flood every time there was a heavy rain because the water did not flow down but go inside. Benjamin was great about explaining what the procedure would be to rebuild the walkway, how long it would take, materials needed, and when the workers will be coming up. I am happy to say that the walkway turned out beautiful, it was completed ahead of schedule, and he did a fantastic job keeping up communication with us whenever we had questions or requests. Another added feature is that the walkway feels more secure so we don't slide down when we walk! We would love to use Superb Builders and Benjamin for our next home projects. read more
