This is my very first salon coloring experience and I was very scared. They could either do an amazing job or screw it up. I didn't want to be one of those customers that threw a tantrum about my hair. Because my hair is pretty much my life. I went in for a consultation and Kari was extremely sweet. She seemed to understand what I wanted so I trusted her and made an appointment. When I went in for my appointment, she got started immediately. She is an extremely friendly and sweet person. I don't think I've ever had such a nice conversation with a hair stylist ever. Long story short, she made my hair look absolutely A-MAZING. My hair feels healthy, comfortable, and the color is exactly how I wanted it to be. Oh, she also gives one killer head massage. It might've been to rub the shampoo in but still, it felt great! I got a balayage and it was $100. I think it was completely worth the money. As an Asian with pretty much virgin black hair, I noticed that while I was there for the 2 hours, I was still the only Asian. I'm not saying they are racist, but, if you are Asian and looking for a good salon, this salon will take care of your dark hair. Trust me. They know what they are doing. I'm definitely coming back to get my hair colored whenever I'm back in Seattle.

She was able to color correct a botched job at another place. She was super detailed in getting all of my hair foiled without leaving gaps (even the underneath) which is not easy to do. She gave me a beautiful blended blonde with the "money piece" (light piece in the front) exactly how I asked. She also did an amazing hair cut that frames my face so well. The best hair color, cut, and demeanor I have ever experienced when getting my hair done. She is also very kind, patient, listens to what the customer wants, and makes the whole experience very stress free and comfortable. She is also very fair and honest with the pricing. It had been twice the time between my usual cuts, so I understood that a stylist might have to use her imagination to picture the "overall vibe" of my cut when freshly styled. Though some clients were happy with Winslow, the percent of appalling reviews from clients scared me away. I chose a different but equally unknown Kirkland salon from those posting on YELP. While my cut there wasn't perfect, I did at least get a boring version of what I requested -- a style cut short and flat against my head on the left side, gradually lengthening in the back like a short rounded cap that hugged my head and tapered to the nape of the neck, and left long on the right side of my head but shaped to encourage the resulting deep wavy locks to hang languidly over and shade that side of my face. Like, drama. The stylist followed my instructions literally, but she failed artistically to create the look, or mood, I wanted. At least she did a decent job rather than ruin my hair, as too many clients in reviews of Winslow had complained. How hard is it to find a stylist who actually listens to what clients say.

I requested that the back be kept long, discussed the treatment around the ears. Showed Grace the stylist inspiration pictures. Asked if she could do it. She said she understood. It's as if she ignored my & my son's wishes and did whatever she wanted. My son is sad- it will take a long time to grow his hair out again. She didn't compare the length and from the front, my left and right sides are uneven. After she did the trim she went in and randomly hacked away at my hair with the layering scissors. I came there hoping to somehow fix the disastrous results of the service I had at one of salons in Bellevue.
