I moved to NYC a few years ago and still drive the 3.5 hours to Shrewsbury at least once a year to get my hair cut and colored by Katie. Her balayage technique makes my hair look amazing and it grows out perfectly so I can usually make it the full year before coming back for my next visit. (even hairdressers in Brooklyn when I've needed a trim have commented on how nice the color is) The vibes are impeccable and after watching her team work with other clients in such thoughtful ways I'd also trust any one of them to do my hair if Katie was ever unavailable. Straight,…read moreblunt cut, originally chin level when I lopped off a ponytail for one of those donation sites, it had grown out to my shoulders and because my hair has a lot of natural body and some wave and curl to it, I was getting a very triangular shape. I had no idea what to do with it, other than grow it out again, but I was tired of that cycle, too, since I've done it several times in the past decade. It's also going pretty grey in spots and I'm not sure another 'tail would work for those wig organizations because of that. I needed someone to just make a decision about my hair and cut it. I didn't care what the results were, what the style was, anything at all. I just needed something different. My husband half-jokingly suggested I take his clippers, buy some gel and go for the Annie Lennox look and I was actually OK with that. Christina took on the challenge. She chose a layered look that is both blowdryer and product-optional (YAY!). It's fabulous, super easy to take care of and suits me well! The next day I went to get it fixed, and it was worse. It was unprofessional and poorly done. I'll attach photos of how it turned out. I paid a lot of money, $552 before tips. I didn't have time to try to get my hair done there again; why give them another chance to fix something they couldn't do the first two times? I contacted them asking for a refund and they denied it, accusing me that what had happened was not true and that they did a perfect job, that they warned me that it was not possible to do the work and that was never the case, the only thing I asked was that he did not change the color of my roots since I needed something low maintenance because I can't go to the salon often, in the example photo the roots are dark like mine, and from there a color gradient starts, which he did not do, the first visit left me a marked line in my hair where you could clearly see that he did not do a gradient or blurring of the color, the next day I went to ask him to do that gradient and he didn't do it, he did a complete highlight and didn't even touch the roots and my hair looked like it had been months of hair growth, also if you saw the photos, there is no consistency in the color that he put on, some parts look oxidized and in other parts bleached out, since he was not careful in the work. Also, he never explained to me that the color or the work was not going to be possible. At first, he only suggested doing full or baby highlight because otherwise it would take him many hours to do the work. I told him I wanted the balayage, which is why I went with enough time. He also started 40 minutes late. The work he did was rushed and poorly done. He just wanted to leave, and the next day too. He wanted to finish early because he said it was his day off.
