*** Minus 20 stars *** My experience here was terrible today. I recently had surgery, and until the wound heals can't take showers, so I can't wash my hair. So I was looking around for an affordable weekly hair place. So today I was in Tustin area, and thought, heck, might as well get my hair washed now since I have some free time. I signed in on the paper and waited. This old Vietnamese lady finished her client and asked me what I wanted. I asked for the price for a shampoo and style. She said, "$23". OK, I don't want to pay $23, so I just want the shampoo. She said, "ok, I ready." We went to the washing station. She put shampoo on my hair, literally WAVED her hand over my hair for 30 seconds, LITERALLY and then proceeded to rinse me out. "hey" I said, "I just had surgery, that's why I need to come here to wash my hair. You need to wash, with your hands and nails, and really wash my scalp." "Oh, I already washed it." "No, you put shampoo on and rinsed off." "Ok, ok, I do again." She then put shampoo on, and literally ran her hands in my hair TWICE, and then rinsed. That is NOT washing hair. It was the equivalent of your child pouring soap over his hands and not rubbing them and then rinsing off the soap. I just had surgery. I'm not stupid. I told her, "you need to WASH my hair." At which point, she doesn't bother to service, and just walked to the station and said "I dry hair now." No. Not going to have you WAVE the hair dryer at my hair for 30 seconds and charge me $15.00 !!! This left a really bad taste in my mouth. When I went to pay, she said, "8 dollar." I remember reading other yelpers say $7 for shampoo. She pointed to the new LED display that it's now $8. Fine, that's all the money you're going to *** CON *** out of me. No tip. In Taiwan, it takes them anywhere from 10 - 15 minutes just to wash your hair thoroughly, really cleaning the scalp, and giving you a scalp massage. They don't just put shampoo on and then rinse you off. For that Taiwan type of service, it's worth the $10. Here, it was probably only worth 5 cents (and I"m being generous). I noticed how she tripped over herself quickly going over and serving the white guy. I guess only tall, dark, handsome men get the best service here. Since I'm neither tall, dark, nor handsome, I shall keep my $$$ and go elsewhere. read more

I went in because I spontaneously cut my bangs and wanted my bangs to be fixed and asked to thin out my hair because I have super thick hair and said I just wanted one inch off. What I got instead was an uneven layered haircut that is not well blended and I am very disappointed because I grew out my hair so that my shorter layers could eventually grow long enough to be where I wanted it to be and I got it to that point, but instead the lady who cut my hair gave me layers that are completely uneven. I saw the technique she was cutting my hair and I didn't obviously want to question her, yet I was frightened that my layers would be uneven because she would grab a certain section of my hair and just chop it off randomly by using cutting up from the bottom of my hair. I didn't mind when she cut my bangs because I messed up and that was on me, but with the actual haircut and thinning out my hair was a complete disaster. read more

My first time trying this location was yesterday and it was pretty near perfect. The older Asian woman was there with another woman and since I went after 10am, there was virtually no one there. I'm protective over my hair because I dye it red and it's medium/long and layered (and I'm so sorry I didn't keep her name) but it was the older Asian woman who was such a doll! She knew exactly what I wanted. After washing my hair, she cut off 3 inches with got rid of the damaged ends, layered just the bottom portion of my hair so it had the texture I liked and re-shaped my bangs that I'm growing out. She was so nice in asking me what she thought she she should do and saying 'but long enough to keep it up in a ponytail right?' It was perfect. I even had unprompted compliments from my boyfriend who I didn't tell I had gotten my hair cut that day. Shampoo and light Layered cut, no blow dry was $25. read more

Came across this place via Yelp, I was in the area running some last minute errands before my flight and thought I would give this place a try for quick trim. TIt was easy to locate, Google Map took me right to the location. It has good amount of parking space available. Place is kept clean and the people that work here were friendly and professional. There was no wait time even though I walked in without any appointment. However, the lady that cut my hair chopped it shorter than I had mentioned it to her, I literally just needed a trim but she messed up my layers. Lesson learned: stick with your own hair stylist and hair salon. read more

I would not return to this place. I forgot the name of the lady who cut my hair but she was the only Asian one there. I told her what I wanted something very simple, small trim on the ends and picture of myself with the length of the bangs. Well she decided how my bangs should be she decided what length to cut it, not the length nor way I told her to. Apparently the way I had asked to do it "it look dumb if I do that way sweetie" I was like wtf?! What do you mean it will look dumb I want it the way I asked the length I asked for not what she liked or wanted. Ugh now my hair is shorter than what I asked and the bangs are so badly cut. WIfe loves this place for a trim any weekend, and I joined her recently, to see, if possible, they had just the hair product I wanted (a specific Nexus product), and the staff were so, so helpful (even while being pretty darn busy with customers getting actual haircuts). I took my son to get a haircut and the male stylist cut it opposite of what we asked for. He left it way shorter than what we asked, the back was uneven, and we asked for a taper but he didn't do it. We went around 4:15pm and they closed at 5:00 so maybe they were in a rush? He cut his hair in about 15 minutes. While we were waiting, a gentleman was not happy with his haircut because the female hairstylist cut it differently than what he asked for, we should have known to walk out then. Okay so I called Supercuts if they can do the type of haircut I needed for my little nephew keep in mind I needed home to look good for his baptism . I asked for a comb over with a mid fade . What he got was a snip of his hair on top like at least half of inch gone and for the mid fade they just cut it with a number 2 no fade like what whole thing is a waste of time I could've done better waste of money never coming back. read more

Been here multiple times and every time I have had a great experience! My apologies though for this review is from my visit about 2 weeks ago. I came in for a major hair cut, cut off at least 12 inches and Brenda was absolutely amazing! She was very friendly and very helpful. I came in wanting to go short and I've never gone this short with my hair, but she explained what she was going to do, how she was going to do it and made sure I was comfortable before she made the first major snip. Not only was she great to me, but the way she talked to guest as they walked in to check in was very friendly. This is why I rather drive over here for a hair cut then to go to a near by like-place by my house. Highly recommend Brenda for this location. read more

I was a bit hesitant to get a haircut here after seeing the 2.5 star rating. I'm glad that I did, though! Stopped by today after work at 6:00 PM. This Supercuts location is tiny, so it might be easy to miss off of Newport Ave. Just remember that it's near the intersection of First & Newport and next door to a Chinese restaurant. Not a whole lot of parking, but I managed to find a spot. First impressions- really clean and really empty. I was the only patron. My barber was a friendly blonde gal. She was talkative, but didn't overdo it with the small talk. She also did a great job of cutting my hair! Walked out with a fresh faux in only 10 minutes. Standard haircut for men = $16.50. Typical for a Supercuts around here. I would definitely return. read more

I asked for face framing layers and she did one side completely fine, however, when I got home I realized the other side was completely choppy and had no layers whatsoever. I have one big piece of hair that she just chopped off and doesn't blend with the rest of my hair. It looks completely different compared to the other side. I didn't get her name but she was an older looking woman on the left side of the salon. Wouldn't recommend coming here, you definitely get what you pay for. read more

You really have to know who you're going to. I would come back only if i saw lizeth....but the lady i saw today never. I think her name was anne. Yes my son was wiggly but overall he was entertained with the ipad. she bumped me in the face twice apologized only the first time and then when I asked her to fix the unevenness on the back she said she couldn't because he was moving too much and she would have to use the trimmer. Ummmm, liz didn't seem to have a problem. That haircut was less than5 minutes. If she didn't want to deal with a toddler then don't make me waste my money and just say you can't take us right now. So I went in December 23rd to get my dad and fiance's hair cut for Christmas. but since the price was so good and the A-line Bob I had cut in July had grown out, I decided to give Supercuts a try. After reading numerous reviews I wanted to have Liz cut my hair but she had a line and would be off within two hours but she said someone else was available - and good - so I said what the hell. Well Ann (asian) was very nice, but that doesn't matter as much as skill. She did an okay job, except I later realized she didn't cut the bottom of my hair straight. I wasn't leaning or anything, not sure what happened. I hadn't realized as soon as I would have liked but I had been curling it up since I got it done and when I asked my fiance, he said it looks fine. Men! So anyway, I was at my aunts and my cousin noticed the unevenness. Embarrassing. I expressed my frustration as I had explained how I kept asking my fiance and my cousin pushed me to give Supercuts a call. So I called and spoke to Anne (Hispanic) and she let me know that they have a 7 day guarantee. I didn't quite cut it, holidays really screwed me. But I did explain what happened, even about my fiance, she laughed and understood. She said "I have 3 brothers, I totally get it" which was nice, I really love the fact that she got it. She asked who cut my hair and after giving her the girls name, she expressed she would have remembered me, so the description of them is very important. She told me to come in the next day or so, and she would inform Liz (manager) about the issue and they would fix it. I couldn't make it in the next day but called in and spoke to Sabrina, she said Liz would be available Sunday between 10-5. I went in and waited for Liz for almost an hour, she's a very busy lady! Her hair is amazing, definitely shows you she knows what she's doing. She was super friendly, asked me what happened. I told her and she was very apologetic. She went layer by layer and evened everything out. She even told me when I should come in next, how much to cut to get my hair where I want it to be. I will definitely come back to see her and I definitely recommend her to everyone. Just an FYI, Ann (asian) cut my dad's hair and she did a great job. I saw her cut a few other guys hair while I waited for Liz to fix my hair and they all walked out looking good. So I think she does a good job on guys hair, I'm just not sure about her skill on women's hair. Maybe she had an off day, don't know. Just want to explain my experience so everyone can make their own decisions. read more

I found this Supercuts by my work to take my 15 year old son who desperately needed a haircut. He has very thin hair with a lot of cowlicks so cutting his hair can be devastating to him if it's not done the right way. Brenda did his hair and really listened to our concerns and gave him the best haircut he truly has ever had. She called it a 'gentlemen's cut' and took into consideration the areas of his cowlicks and also how thin his hair is so texturized the front so he did not look like he had a bowl cut if he didn't put gel in. She also recommended he use a lotion type holding solution rather than an actual gel so it stays in place without looking wet and too firm. He is so happy with it. Have been consistently unimpressed with this place over the past few years. Have not come in a while but decided to check it out with the boys. I walked in at 6:45pm and both ladies looked at me and at the clock and asked me to sign in and have a seat. They waited until 7:00pm and then told me that they were closed and they might be able to squeeze 2 haircuts in (instead of 3). One lady was cutting her boyfriend's hair. When I asked them why they didn't tell me that when I walked in, the first lady just replied with, "we are closed now." Then she told me to try another Supercuts in Irvine (that was also already closed). Worst customer service ever. I won't be coming back. Try Sports Clips around the corner. read more

This was the highest rated supercuts anywhere near me so I decided to give it a try. Lizbeth helped me out and did a wonderful job. I came in for a wash and very small trim, as I am growing out my hair. Trims can be stressful because not every stylist is good at communicating what they will be "trimming", but Lizbeth put my nerves at ease and made sure that each length she was cutting off from my layers was okay with me before doing so. The wash was also very pleasant! She was so sweet and made sure to blowdry my hair since it was chilly outside AND that I was 100% happy with the outcome. My hair felt so much healthier and happy by the end of it! I will be back here in Lizbeth's chair the next time I need a trim. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTING , not coming back to this barber shop again. The barber (Thalia) did a terrible job cutting my hair!!!!!! Didn't cut my hair the way i instructed. The 2 SIDES not properly faded and the BACK side just looks AWKWARD same thing with the front. And not a good customer service. read more

I came with my mom to this location. The place is very clean and neat. They have a good size selection of hair products and they speak Spanish. Thalia cut my moms hair and she did a great job. My mom was very pleased with the way her hair was cut. Thalia was super friendly and engaged in conversation with my 73 year old mom while she cut her hair. I was so happy with the service, I decided to have my son get his haircut also. Ann cut my sons hair and she also did a great job. She was friendly, nice, and knowledgeable. I got my haircut today by Rosie. I walked in and didn't have to wait at all. She washed and cut and blow dried my hair. I am a stylist as well, and I was at my wits end with my hair. I usually go here for just a trim for bangs. It's $7.00 I went here last week and got a horrible haircut from this lady. She wasn't listening and I said layers in the front. That sounds pretty basic. She took strands of my long hair in the front and cut the front portion off up to my ears and started layering up to my bangs. I was mortified! My hair looked like I had a short bob up top and then long hair down to my back? My hair looked like a mushroom on top of a big tree stump. It was disgusting! She did NOT blend it in! Then she started using hair clippers to trim my bangs and I said why you are using that?! She even said she almost shaved off my eyebrow. I was livid! I told her to stop and that I didn't want her to cut anymore. When I got home I noticed my bangs were uneven and that the haircut was a different length on both sides. Not only did I have bad haircut but she couldn't even cut my hair straight or even. Okay, here's where you're asking why am I giving them 3 stars? Here's the positive. So, I contemplated to go back, but I was embarrassed thinking it was a cheap $15 haircut. Let it go, right? No, I decided go back and with my receipt and show them the damage that was done. I thought it wasn't right for me to not only pay for something I didn't want, but something that wasn't even straight? I mean that's her job, right? To cut hair and she didn't do that. It's like when you purchase an item from the store that doesn't work, you go back and exchange it. When I got in I explained to another lady, named Ulda, what happened and showed her how bad the haircut was. She fixed it! It looked much better and I found out after that she was the manager. She told me after any haircut from there, if you don't like it, you can come back within 7 days and they will fix it for you. I thought that was fair and I did end up tipping her. I'm just happy that the first lady who cut my hair was NOT there. Point: If you don't like your haircut let them know right there. If not, you can come back and have someone fix it for free within 7 days. I suggest having Ulda cut your hair. I'll come back but only to her. read more
