Got my hair cut by Tori yesterday and she did a fantastic job! I asked for a lot of layers and curtain bangs with a reference photo. She totally saw the vision and executed it perfectly. I will definitely be going back to her again. As they had warned, parking is a little bit tricky with all the construction going on, so make sure to come a bit early to figure it out. I'm so excited to share this review! My stylist was Justin. He was fantastic! I specifically sought out Justin for his razor cuts. Found him through Yelp and then messaged him on Instagram, and finally made my appointment. I loved all the work on his Instagram page and knew I was in good hands. I've been growing out a buzzcut. Which feels like it's taken forever lol I'm currently at a pixie length and have been feeling like my hair needed some layers, texture and some TLC. I was basically rocking a helmet head hahaha I went to Justin and told him my hair goals of texture and irregular razored bangs. It took me the longest time to find the right inspiration photo to portray what I was envisioning. I showed Justin the photo and he told me my hair was shorter than hers, but he could get close. He definitely delivered! I'm obsessed with my hair now! I love it so much!!!! It's light, airy, has texture and some sass! Hahaha Exactly what I wanted! Justin really brought my vision to life. I had a really excellent experience with Shanell. I have hair that is unfortunately, sort of finicky and time consuming to cut, and she took that all in stride. She really listened to what I wanted and actually produced what I was asking for. The elements that I deferred to her judgment worked out great. She is really meticulous and understands geometry and dimension and how your cut can flatter your face. I left feeling great, but this was not only her styling magic. This cut looked great even after I had washed and styled it myself later. She is also super sweet and fun. I will look forward to my next cut with Shanell. PS If you are visiting this salon in 2026, there is a lot of roadwork in the area. There is free parking nearby, just leave a little time to find it. read more

Before doing anything to my hair we talked through what I was looking for and she explained the everything behind the process, which was so helpful. First time here and I went to Tori for a deep conditioning and haircut since she seems specialized in wavy+curly hair. I am extremely disappointed by both services, especially given the price point ($150+). The deep conditioning just seemed like a regular conditioner (my $10 Mielle hair mask from Target is more effective). As for the haircut, I asked for short curtain bangs and a trim, but got weird fringes on the side of my bangs. I honestly wished I saved my money and stuck to cutting my own hair. read more

Jessica Lizet saved my hair! I got it in my head that I *needed* purple hair in February but it faded really quickly, so I kept doing Demi color over it on my own to try to get back to brown until I ended up going and getting it fixed somewhere else. Unfortunately the "fix" created more problems and the dimension was uneven. So I went to Young American for a real fix and Jessica delivered!!!! She was so thoughtful and really made sure we could get as close to what I wanted without sacrificing the health of my hair. My hair also took a long time to lift and she stayed all night with me to make sure it was perfect She's also so sweet and so fun to hang out with and I had the best time for it being such a long appointment (which was not at all her fault!). And in general, I just love the atmosphere of this salon. I love the music, love the location, all of it. The only thing is that the lights make it really hard to actually see the actual color of your hair I think it's just the overhead placement. But besides that everything is great and I'm excited to have found someone I can trust! read more

I was banned from all Young American Salon locations earlier this year. I had been polite, paid for my services, and had positive experiences with my stylist Rachel Lopez then suddenly received an email from the owner, Julia, saying I'm no longer allowed. When I asked why, I was told "I made people uncomfortable," which is absurd and insulting. No one at this salon ever communicated any problem to me. Instead, they quietly decided to blacklist a respectful customer without explanation. It's the most unprofessional behavior I've ever encountered from a business that claims to care about its clients. Unprofessional and dismissive. I was banned without warning or reason. They just want your money at the end of the day I would advise anyone considering this place to look elsewhere. If you value respect don't set foot in this place. Trust me. Reply: Everything stated in your reply is completely false. I have never met the owners they don't even live in California and have no firsthand involvement with this salon. I only spoke with them briefly over the phone, during which they made false accusations about things I never did. They don't know me personally and are inventing claims to cover their own unprofessional conduct I have never made anyone uncomfortable. That is not in my nature. In fact, I barely spoke during my appointments and always minded my own business. The stylists were the ones asking me questions always judging me, and I always responded politely. I had no issue with my stylist Rachel until someone began spreading lies about me. When I called, no one picked up. They told me there's no receptionist and they never return calls a basic failure for any business. Their response, full of lies and personal attacks, proves they'd rather invent enemies than manage their salon. Judge for yourself which is worse a customer telling the truth or a business that can't even answer its phone.They don't answer their phones, yet they've invented a story about me that says everything about how this salon chooses to operate. Side note: I've seen Rachel Lopez and, on one occasion, another stylist named Zyana O'Brien at the Old Town location when Rachel Lopez wasn't available. I've also seen Rachel Delaney at the Southern Local location. Before that, I tried the Villa Park location but didn't have a good experience there. It took me some time to find Rachel Lopez, who I felt genuinely comfortable with, and I began seeing her regularly. Unfortunately, the business later began making false claims about me, accusing me of things that never happened. This experience has shown me how unethical and deceitful this business can be. Truly an evil and dishonest company. I'm sharing this so both future customers and current clients know the truth. Be careful because the same thing could happen to you. read more

I usually don't leave reviews, but my experience with Rachel was so wonderful that I felt compelled to share. I went in for a full balayage, and even though it was my first time, I never once felt judged. Rachel was incredibly attentive and truly cared about achieving the result I wanted. We decided on a beautiful burnt orange/auburn shade. I'm a bit shy and often find it hard to keep a conversation going with a hairdresser, but Rachel was so sweet and had so many interesting stories to share--it felt like no effort at all! The whole experience was really therapeutic, and she gives amazing head massages. I'm absolutely over the moon with the results! The interior look of the salon is also very aesthetically pleasing. I made an appointment with this salon on Wednesday with Jessica for Sunday at 10:30 am. Attached is the phone log picture. I was in desperate need of a bang trim and cut and was so happy that I had an appointment. Imagine my surprise when I arrived and Jessica said I was not on the schedule, and she could not even accommodate a bang trim if I waited until she was done with her client. All this stylist could do at 10:30 for me is make me come back at 1pm. That was ridiculous as I had told her I came all the way up from So. County. Now if I lived in Tustin that would be fine, but she expected me, knowing I lived 35 minutes away , to drive back home 35 min and then return at 1, which would be another 35 min. Anyone who has bangs knows a bang trim takes only a few minutes to squeeze in between clients, but she could not even do that to make up for the mistake her salon made. All she kept saying was I am sorry, which I do not believe or accept. Now, I have to try and find another stylist somewhere this week to get my haircut done because this salon does not follow through with their bookings or stand by them!
