I called in and made a "waiting" appt for 8:15, but a couple days before my scheduled appt. I called in to see if I could drop my car off the night before. I was told sure, no problem, just drop it off between 5pm to 9pm. The night before my scheduled appointment I dropped my jeep off. Thinking I still had a scheduled appointment for 8:15. I called the day of my appt around 11:00 am wondering why I hadn't received a call stating my car was ready for pick up. The person who answered told me Caleb was not available, but would put my name on his desk and he'd call me in a little. An hour goes by and I still haven't heard back. So I called again, only to be told that they hadn't started work on my car, and that drop offs don't have a scheduled appt time. Not once was this ever explained to me. Not when I called to change to a drop off, and not when Emily took my keys at time of drop off. Then Caleb, or whatever his name is tells me they have my car in the bay now, and it will be done shortly. So I get ready to go get my car, because I know that an oil change takes about 15 min, a tire rotation takes about 15 min. I arrive over an hour after he said they had begun working on my car to find out they hadn't even started on it. That after I hung up, they took my car back out of the bay. They tell me then that they will start on it now, and it will be done in 45 min. I was so upset with the unprofessionalism at this point I chose to take my keys and leave. Not once was I told that changing from a "wait" appt to drop off would negate my already scheduled 8:15 time, but the nail in the coffin was removing my vehicle after being told they were working on it. I had such high hopes for Crownsville Auto, but at this point would never come back, and never recommended them.

I don't like to pay for replacement parts from the dealer (which appears to be the rule in this area of Maryland) but in this case it worked to my benefit. As for inspections, I have heard the same story about just about every repair shop. While I appreciate the level of scrutiny, it appears like a one time chance to obtain a lot of work. Coming from a neighboring state , I was naive as far as the costs and the 30 day requirement for findings to be resolved. A lesson learned the hard way. I have found the Walt Eger team to be responsive to my needs and to provide timely informative updates.

I came here 2 years ago, had the best experience.everyone was so polite!…read more this year I came back I had gave them some time so I call them 3 days later to see if I am cover by my warranty to get my car fixed and I didn't catch her name but ask for updates with my car she got really smart and said " what do you want that was very rude! James is at the front desk never called or gave me any updates, my car was there for weeks, He saying that my warranty should have called me but my car IS AT YALL SHOP, y'all have the details but James act like he don't understand things and really don't know how to talk to customers he is very rude ! I couldn't get it fix so I wanted it back to my house, So I TOLD THEM A DAY BEFORE that the tow truck is coming in the morning, I called James and I told him is my car ready and clear for the tow truck to get it and he said YES! So they waste the tow truck money and time because they throw Snow and and it freeze into ice on me car and around it and I had to call another one and I gave them some time told them to call me when I they are done so I can get another tow truck! So I called back James was like we been clear the ice off your car and I told him why u didn't say another, THEN HE JUST START LAUGHING THEN THEY THOUGHT I WOULD NOT KNOW BUT IS A BIG DENT IN THE BACK OF MY CAR THAT THEY DAMAGE! OVERALL BAD EXPERIENCES, JAMES JUST KEEP LAUGHING MAKING ME UNCOMFORTABLE AND I TALK TO THE MANGERS ROB AND HE JUST LAUGHING AND PLAYING AROUND JUST A BUNCH OF UNPROFESSIONAL CHILDISH PEOPLE DIDN'T GET APOLOGY OR ANYTHING! That's bad for business and will lose people, just learn how to be nice and professional everything should not be a joke!

Goss Garage II - Tune- up service

My wife and I have taken both of our cars to Goss in Crofton for years. Thousands spent. Always…read moretrusted them. But after our last experience, we'll never be back. Goss quoted me $993 to replace what they claimed was a bad headlight assembly. They listed the part alone at $619. Before approving anything, I asked two very standard, very basic questions: 1. "What is the part number for this $619 headlight assembly?" Melissa told me, "Unfortunately we don't get that until the part arrives." This makes no sense. A shop cannot order a part without knowing the part number first. Big red flag. 2. "How much is the markup on that part?" Melissa said, "Unfortunately I don't have access to that information." Again -- impossible. Every shop sees cost vs retail in their system. It's how parts are priced. Another big red flag. Both responses were evasive and dishonest, and no reputable shop would answer those two questions that way. I took the car to another mechanic (Ron at the Mobil station on 301) for a second opinion. He found the REAL issue was simply a melted connector--extremely common with older cars. He replaced the connector and bulb for $113 and everything works fine now. I saw the owner of Goss respond to another negative review by comparing Goss to a steakhouse and talking about their "warranty." Warranties and steaks have nothing to do with overpricing and refusing to disclose basic information like part numbers and markup -- information every legitimate auto shop can provide instantly. I'm fine with paying steakhouse prices if that's what I ordered, but not if the restaurant can't even tell me what cut of meat they're serving! Bottom line: --Goss tried to sell me a $993 repair that wasn't necessary --Goss refused to disclose part number or markup when directly asked --Another shop fixed the real issue for $113 The upselling is off-putting, but the lack of transparency around parts is inexcusable. We will not be returning, and I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any work here.

Don't be fooled by the simplicity and grittiness of the shop - they do quality work at affordable rates. They can get swamped sometimes so definitely call ahead. Recent comparison shopping - I needed front brake pads & rotors. The dealership wanted to charge $700. At Auto Doctor, I only paid $400 which included an oil change and tire rotation. Huge savings and I could not be happier with the work. I highly recommend this shop - great service and prices.

I thought everything was noted and confirmed for my 8:00 AM appointment. When I arrived, I waited until 8:20 before being called, only to be told that my tires would now have to be ordered. Laurie seemed to have no record of the conversation or the promotion she herself had mentioned previously. Instead of accountability or a solution, I was met with confusion and dismissiveness--especially frustrating because I had already waited a month to have this appointment. What made the experience even worse was seeing other customers ahead of me receive excellent, attentive service, while I was treated with what felt like incompetence and indifference. Basic professionalism--such as documenting appointments, promotions, and agreed-upon services--was completely missing. I left without getting my car serviced, extremely disappointed and frustrated. This experience was a complete waste of time, and I cannot recommend this location based on the service I received.
