I had a very disappointing experience at this Mr. Tire location. I scheduled my appointment in person, and the staff member (Laurie) even checked my tire size with me at that time. I thought everything was noted and confirmed for my 8:00 AM appointment. When I arrived, I waited until 8:20 before being called, only to be told that my tires would now have to be ordered. Laurie seemed to have no record of the conversation or the promotion she herself had mentioned previously. Instead of accountability or a solution, I was met with confusion and dismissiveness--especially frustrating because I had already waited a month to have this appointment. What made the experience even worse was seeing other customers ahead of me receive excellent, attentive service, while I was treated with what felt like incompetence and indifference. Basic professionalism--such as documenting appointments, promotions, and agreed-upon services--was completely missing. I left without getting my car serviced, extremely disappointed and frustrated. I was scheduled to come in at 1:30 for an oil change, but was running 10 minutes late. I called to give them a heads up and they told me they were pushing my appointment back to 2:00. I shrugged it off, it was my fault for running late. I got to the desk at 1:40 got checked in and handed over my keys knowing I'd have to wait until 2. The guy who checked me in was extremely kind and helpful. My frustration comes from my wait time. My vehicle did not get taken back until 2:30 . I sat for 50 minutes because they were "so backed up." I understand things can take some time, but I would have preferred some upfront honesty about how far behind they had gotten. I would have come back another day. They were not done with my car until 3:15. The man at the desk then told me my rear break pads needed to be replaced. I told him I didn't want them. He pressed on about it. I told him I didn't have the money for it, then he tried to sell me on their finance system. Once I was done checking out he backtracked on his statement and said my breaks could be good until my next oil change "it's hard to say." Initially the guy tries to get me to sign a quote without showing me the price. When I ask about the price he prints out a whole new sheet that has the quoted price at the bottom for $506.00 and some change. So i'm thinking to myself i'm paying 253.00 for a fews part and the labor? I'm paying more for them to service the vehicle then I am for the tires? That don't sound right. So I go back to the counter to kind of get a breakdown of what I was paying for. When I asked him about the price he was very rude, and he broke down very quickly what I was paying for and then mumble some stuff, and said so when you add it all up it comes out to 506.00 and some change. He didn't show me anything. His response was rapid fire, and mumbled. He knew I wasn't understanding, but I was getting upset so I just went back to the waiting area and got online to the Mr Tire website. Note: The guy next to him was taking calls on the phone, and assisting people with questions. Several times he looked to the guy who was helping me for assistance when it came to prices with services, and the man helping me would say things like " Just tell them it'll be $90.00" the guy would then get back on the phone and say " it'll be $90.00 to $100.00" Like don't they have set prices? I went back to the waiting area and chose my tires and went through the prompt to schedule and appointment for the same exact services I was getting it told me it would cost 391.88 which was still high but it wasn't $506.00 and some change. So I went back to the guy with what I found on the website and asked him what the difference was between what they were doing, and what it says i should pay online. He gets an attitude and says I ALREADY TOLD YOU 3 TIMES ALREADY!! He then takes my phone and starts mumbling to himself, and without answering my question he says... okay 410.00 and some change. Really? This place is super shady. At one point I went outside and walked down to where my car was being serviced, and guess who comes outside at that very moment to see. The same guy who was helping me. He tried to play it off as if he was looking at a tag, but the cars he was near were there when I pulled up, and not the persons who he was helping when I walked out. I forgot to mention that he kept asking me if I wanted an alignment check done, and I said no because I didn't want to extra charge, but my receipt says that it comes as a part of the standard install package. I even got the paper from when it was done, though no one ever explained it to me or even acknowledged it. I went to NTB, and they would've charged me $363.88 to do everything that they were trying to charge me $506.00 for, and that was with tires that cost 67.99 which was 24 dollars more then the tires I got ($6.00 per tire). After 2.5 Hours of horrible customer service I ended up paying 428.19, but luckily got $20.00 for checking in on Yelp so $408.19 247.96 for the tires. 180.26 for the rest. which would've initially been 247.96 for the tires, and 258.04 for the rest if I had to pay the iniital 506.00 This is not the first time I have used Mr Tire, but this is the first time I have ever felt ripped off. The customer service here is horrible, and they just seem to charge what they want. If you don't ask questions they will screw you over. I got 100.00 taken off of my bill for just asking a question. The guy refused to explain anything to me, and I'm still positive that I overpaid. My last set of 4 tires were more expensive and I didn't pay nearly as much even with getting the hazard insurance on them, and they didn't even offer it to me this time around. I asked what the price would be and was told 12.99 per tire, but I wasn't about to give them anymore money. I visited Mr. Tire to get a tire pressure sensor checked. Previously, they had replaced three of my tire pressure sensors (last year). During this visit, they told me that two sensors were needed, including one they had installed previously, which they now labeled as a "dud." These sensors should last 5 to 8 years. They declined to provide any discount for the malfunctioning sensor and claimed no responsibility for it. This will be my last visit to their service center. read more

Do not do business with this place!!! I have been going to the Mr. Tire in Gambrills since 2017. I understand these places are in business to make money, however, there's no reason to be underhanded, dishonest, or to outright lie to their customers. Most times, going in as a woman, I feel that they're trying to take advantage of me, consequently I make sure that I'm prepared with all the facts and a general understanding of what's going on with my vehicle before I go in. On February 6, 2022 I took my vehicle in for an oil change and clearly explained that I was there only for an oil change. I am retired and put about 5000 miles a year on my vehicle so I knew that it didn't need any other service. When I went to check out, the agent proceeded to tell me that I needed brakes and that if I didn't get brakes within a month, it was going to wear into the rotors and it would become a very expensive repair. I responded by telling the agent that I had had new front and back brakes put on my vehicle (BY THEM) 4 years prior and had only put 20,000 miles on my vehicle since and ask him to please run that past me again. He proceeded to tell me that I needed brakes and it would be at a critical stage within 30 days if I didn't do something about it. I thanked him and left, not feeling good about the discussion at all. I took my vehicle to another auto service location (not Mr. Tire) and had them look at my brakes. They told me my front brakes were in perfect condition and that my back breaks looked good but I should consider replacing them after another 10,000 miles. He told me that there was no way that I needed brakes now and there was absolutely no danger in there being any rotor damage at this point. He looked over the rest of the car and told me everything was in good condition. I will never go back to the Mr. Tire store in Gambrills and, honestly, probably won't ever go back to a Mr. Tire business at all. My car's alternator died and they tried to charge me $1400+ to replace it, telling me that the alternator, serpentine belt and battery were all bad. I knew the battery was fine and called them out on it. And I saw the belt spinning when I dropped it off. So I had it towed somewhere else and just as I thought, it was just the alternator and I was charged many hundreds of dollars less. These guys are liars and con-artists. I made my appointment online for 10am on a Saturday for an oil change, tire rotation and wiper blades. I arrived at 10, but I didn't finish the check in process until 10:30am. Jason and Scott were at the front desk and Jason assisted me. He was fairly pleasant and tried to get me a good deal. My estimate came to $67 for the aforementioned services with the Drive Time card, which is supposed to save you approximately $10 on services. My car was taken into the bay close to 11:00am. I waited in the waiting area, which had free WiFi, free coffee and a flat screen tv which was showing CNN. At about 11:45am, a guy came over talking really fast about some brakes and a brake flush that I needed. He quoted more than $400. I was like no thanks. I'll do some research. I don't like it when people try to up sell me especially when they are talking super fast. I decided to ask for clarification about the price. After doing so, I still opted to shop around. I left the shop around 12:40. Whew! I couldn't believe how long it took for the service. December 2019, I purchased four Micheline tires from Mr. Tire with their lifetime install package and road hazard coverage from the Gambrills, MD location. A few months ago, I returned to have a screw hole repaired in one tire. Since that repair, I have returned twice to have a slow leak in that same tire repaired. One time they stated that there was another small hole that needed to be repaired. The second time, 3 June 2022, they stated that the original repair failed, the tire was separating from the inside and was unrepairable. We discussed using the road hazard policy for new tires. Since my vehicle is AWD the tire treads need to match for each axel set to avoid damage and Mr. Tire does not shave tires so I needed two tires replaced. I was called back with a quoted price of ~$407. I asked why so much and was explained that the cost included ~$105 credit for each of my two current tires, ~$217 for each of two new tires and the cost of installation, road hazard and other fees. After discussing this with an employee and the manager they agreed to lower the price to ~$366, which is still more than what should be charged according to their policy. I contacted the corporate office and was told that this was their policy. I spoke with a supervisor and was to be transferred to the director of customer support when I was disconnected. I called back but they were gone for the weekend. The morning of 6 June 2022 and left a message with the director. I called again to ask time frame for a response since I have a car that I can not drive. I again questioned their policy and asked for paperwork to support their claim. The representative hung up on me. I then called and spoke to a supervisor who promised to send me the policy. I finally received their policy that afternoon. It was the same policy that the store had provided me on the original sales receipt. It states "If a tire, for which the optional road hazard policy has been purchased, becomes damaged due to a puncture, cut, break, vandalism, or any road hazard under normal driving conditions, the Company will, at its option, repair the tire at no charge, or replace the tire with a new one (comparable or better than the damaged tire) charging only the percentage of wear by measuring the tread in 32nd of an inch. The replacement tire price will be computed using its current retail price." This does not state I will need to repurchase the installation or road hazard policy. I have contacted Mr. Tire multiple times asking for written policy that states that I have to repay for the installation and road hazard policy. They have not provided any such policy. Their response: "Mr. Cole, You are not required to repurchase the road hazard for the new tires, you are given that option if you want the new tires covered. You would be charged an installation for the new tires unless you don't want them installed on your vehicle then the warranty would not apply. I hope this helps! Thank you" I have contacted the BBB, "The business provided the following response: Thanks for letting us about this. We're very sorry that you had a bad experience." So I ask, what do I do now? Mr. Tire refuses to honor a policy I paid for. Any option I know of will cost me more money than their policy states and time. I may be able to recoup the money but that will take months to do if it happens at all. I will never get my time back. Why do I have to lose time and money when I have fulfilled my part of the agreement. My vehicle is still not safe to operate, all because of a failed repair from the place I purchased tires, installation, and a road hazard policy from. I welcome any options to quickly and fairly resolve this. read more

In my attempt to alleviate shortcuts with flat tires--changing tires without rotating--I went with Mr. Tires. I was better off going to a tire shop, then to another establishment for rotating and alignment. I even went as far as to make an appointment (11 AM) to avoid extended wait times. Yet my car wasn't serviced until 3 PM. Because I dropped my car off, apparently the technicians thought I "had some time." Young people's time should be respected like anyone else. I went to Mr. Tire Crofton when they first opened (just catching up on my reviews!!). I went for some front end noise and shaking and 3K bucks later the issue was still there!! Also be very careful cause they sneak in a bunch of unnecessary services (flushes and fluids) onto the service! Second GREAT experience I've had at a Mr Tire with their in-store customer service folks over the last few months. Back in January it was an A+++ experience from Alex at the Annapolis/Parole MD location who took control of what was going to be a bad experience with one of the old, nasty guys at that location who give these types of garages a bad name. Yesterday it was an A++++ experience at the Gambrills/Crofton MD location from Nate. Nate was super helpful, friendly and kind. Between Alex and Nate in these two central Maryland area locations, Mr Tire is doing something right. Farrell also helped us yesterday, and he too was terriffic. I always cringe going to the garage, especially dealing with the folks who work there because they are usually old, gruff and nasty.... and you always feel taken because they can charge you whatever they want and you have no idea. Alex, Nate and Farrell are top notch and make you feel appreciated. They are completely different and Mr. Tire should acknowledge them (PS -- I'm still upset that the review I wrote in on Mr Tire's website about my A+++ experience with Alex was never relayed to him month's later. The next time I was in the Annapolis location two months later, I told Alex I sent in a review on the corporate website and asked Alex if he heard about it. He had not. Avoid this place like the plague! I took my daughter's car in to have the tire replaced. I got a call from the advisor saying the brakes needed to be replaced with new rotors. I said i couldn't afford that right now but would get it looked at soon. The advisor said they are really bad. You need to get that done right now. He said: You would really let your daughter drive a car like that? (Red flag) 4 months and 7000 miles later I had the oil changed at Crownsville Automotive and asked them to double check the brakes. Andy comes out and says your brakes are fine front and rear. This Mr. Tire hires professional rip off artists. Go to Crownsville Automotive instead. I've come here several times for the oil change and tire rotation special. This time the mechanic decided not to rotate my tires, instead giving a lame excuse that I should keep the best tires in the back. I did not have time to try to get him to do his job, but I did confirm with a family friend who is a career professional mechanic that that was a straight out lie. I also paid for tire balancing which seems to have come out worse than when it went in. Which begs the question did he actually do the job? And did he actually change the oil? On Saturday, April 14, 2018, my wife took her 2012 Nissan Altima to Mr. Tire of Gambrills for a noise when she turned left and her front breaks. 2 hour after dropping her vehicle off they called to tell her she needed a CV shaft for her drivers side axle, front breaks replaced and new rotors. Total cost about 1K. Upon reviewing the invoice it was determined that they charged her for BOTH new rotors and resurfacing the old. They than charged her $200 for a part that costs $76 at autozone (exact same model 10866N) and two (2) hours of labor just for the CV shaft. In all it took 2 hours to replace the axle, rotors (if they are actaully new and not resurfaced) and brakes. To top it off they charge to lube your braking system which should be included. They tried to tell me if i didnt want any lube on the brakes they wouldnt do it. Who puts brakes on with out lubing them? Additionally, they told her she needed to have her power steering fluid flushed which was just done 2 oil changes ago (7k miles or so). I personally believe they saw a woman and went for the jugular. Took full advantage of her. The only plus given to Mr. TIRE is they refunded the price of resurfacing the rotors. Stay away and find another more trustworthy shop. Not sure that actaully exists anymore. Shame on you Mr Tire. Your brand is going down. We as a family will not be back. Called the 866 number provided to discuss, it went directly to kims voicemail. On the Mr. Tire website, I chose 4 new tires and made an appointment to have them installed along with a wheel alignment. The website told me how much it was all going to cost. My wife dropped the car off and picked it up the next day. She paid with their $20-off-if-you-get-their-credit-card offer. By the way, the interest on this "Drive Card" is 30%, so don't bother unless you're positive you can pay it off before the interest free 6 months is over. I was surprised how much higher the bill was than what the website said and looked it over. They charged $48 for four TPMS kits with labor to install them, $5 for the kit and $7 to install each one. The problem with that is, the car didn't even have a Tire Pressure Monitoring System! So they charged for something they could not even begin to do. Second problem, they charged $10 more for each tire than the website said the tires cost. I've seen other reviews saying the same thing. Are they just hoping no one notices? Third problem. They charged $82 for road hazard coverage. This was not asked for, no one offered it, it was not wanted, but they just tacked that on the bill without permission. So, the total amount overcharged was $170! My wife called Mr. Tire the next day and someone who said they were the manager apologized and said they would have the charges removed the next day. The credit card bill came two weeks later and the bad charges had not been removed. Mr. Tire was called again and they apologized again and said they had to call "corporate" to get the charges taken off. The second bill came a month later, the charges were still not removed. My wife called the credit card company and they told her they knew nothing about the problem. Mr. Tire was called a third time, they apologized again and said they would get the false charges removed. The third bill came yet another month later and the charges still had not been removed. Mr. Tire was called a fourth time with the same promises. I'm guessing we're getting the run around because they didn't make 3 errors, but rather made 3 false charges with the specific intent to rip us off. read more
