My experience with the service department this week did not go well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I began making calls for a 30K service on my Miata beginning Monday around 10:00 a.m. The telephone tree seemed to be broken, because I had to punch the "2" key for service three different times before a human finally answered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was immediately put on hold for 8.5 minutes then was disconnected.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I called right back and went through the faulty telephone tree as before. This time instead of speaking to a person I was asked if I wanted a call back. I did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Two hours later, not having heard from the service department, I made another call. This again wound up with my being offered a call back. I again agreed and again received no call within a reasonable amount of time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]A fourth call finally got me through to a service writer. An appointment was made for two days later at 8:15 a.m.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was told that the work would take 1.5-2.0 hours, so I elected to wait at the dealership for repairs. When I arrived for the appointment, I was told the wait would be a minimum of 3.5 hours. I called my wife to pick me up, disrupting both of our morning expectations. There's no excuse for that kind of stupidity. This service department doesn't appear to know what they're doing. When I finally retrieved the car, the bill was 150% more than what I was expecting. If I can find another Mazda dealer in the area, I doubt I'll be returning to Fitzgerald. read more

I am so disappointed with this car dealership. I saw 2 vehicles on their site which was in my price range, they were under used vehicles under $12,000...I kind of figured it was too good to be true.. I thought they would tell me the cars had sold but NOOOOOO they said it's a Handyman Special, instead of saying the vehicle is pending cause it needs additional work, they have the vehicle as In Stock. I was like what, what is that cause I never heard of Handyman Special especially from a dealership. I heard of a mechanic special from a private seller. We decided to try this Mitsubishi dealership after the one in Laurel charged us for something that should have been covered under warranty work (another dealership confirmed this) and called us liars to our face when we tried buying a new car from them. This was the first time dealing with Fitzgerald Mitsubishi. After this experience with the service department, I'm not sure if we'll come back or try another dealership. Good Comfy lounge area with TV and snacks (small bottled water, keurig/pods, breakfast bars) Car rental behind dealership Free shuttle within 10 miles of dealership Provided a rental car because my repairs were covered under warranty. Did EVENTUALLY fix the cause of the check engine light- 2 weeks later. Bad Took TWO WEEKS for a check engine issue. Tiny parking lot- there are maybe 6 spots for vehicles needing service. If those are filled up, finding another spot can be tricky. Communication is horrible for so many reasons. 1. You dial the service number, it takes you to a switchboard where they try to connect you to someone. Seems like an unnecessary layer of bureaucracy. Why even have a service number if every call goes to the same place? 2. From my experience, most calls go to voice mail. After leaving a voice mail, you may never hear back. Happened several times to me. Their voicemails say "if you don't hear from me in an hour, contact (supervisor's name- indecipherable)". No number given. 3. No status updates provided regularly. I heard from them the first day and then nothing. I'd have to call and track down my service manager or someone who knew what the heck was going on. Not an easy task. At times it seemed like staff was actively avoiding me so they didn't have to provide an update. If I didn't check on it periodically, I probably only would have heard from them when my car was ready 2 weeks later :/ Rough timeline of events: Drop car off Wednesday at 9 AM with check engine light. Mention my OBD2 scanner said it was likely an oxygen sensor and another dealership said it might be the oxygen sensor 5 PM Wednesday told they couldn't fix it, I'd need a loaner car No word Thursday Friday I call early morning. I speak to the service manager and he says the service advisor will call me shortly. That doesn't happen. Saturday morning I call again to see where things stand. Told that they are still "looking into" the check engine light. The shop foreman will take over to diagnose the issue on Monday No word Monday Call again Tuesday morning and leave a message. No response. I try again later in the day around noon and the dealership receptionist/operator says she talked to my advisor and he's waiting to hear from someone else. In other words, he's using the phone system to avoid my calls. Really inspires confidence, doesn't it? Despite being told twice someone would call me back, that doesn't happen. Friday I call again and FINALLY reach someone above the service manager. Still not fixed, they are in contact with Mitsubishi HQ to diagnose the issue. Emails and calls back and forth with Mitsubishi techs. It's being looked at every day. Tuesday they call and say it is indeed the oxygen sensor and it should be replaced by Wednesday, two weeks after I initially dropped it off. You'd think after all the hassle there might be an apology for it taking so long or something. Anything. Nope! Handed the keys like it's a normal thing to keep a car for two weeks for a simple check engine light repair. read more

Once again Elvin has came to the rescue. My car started giving me issues that I thought was odd making a loud squealing noise when a braked. I called over to the dealership and asked for service and none other then Elvin answer the phone. Very polite and listened to my concerns. He ensured me to bring the car right on in and they can tackle the job in no time. So I bring the car on down. He walks outside inspects my car and writes down his needed information. We go back inside and he says he will call me with an answer to my problem and give me a quote on the fix. Pricing was spot on for the quality of work preformed. A day later my car is back no squeaking noise and runs good as new. He advised me of routine maintenance that will be coming with the millage I have and I told him I will be back to get the job done. Absolute scum in the service department. Sexist liars. Girlfriend had her 2015 Mazda6 in for a warranty service. They called her, insisting that her brakes needed to be replaced as the pads were less than 2mm and the rotors at the end of their life. The price? Just under $1,500. I had her tell them no and went to pick the car up, where they again cited safety concerns. To be safe, I took the wheels off to inspect the brakes myself. Guess what? 5mm of pad left all the way around, and the rotors are within spec. Now, let's get to the worst part. I called back and spoke with the parts department to get a price quote for pads/rotors. I was quoted $550 plus installation, about 2 hours. I'm not sure what the labor rate is, but even at $150 an hour the job would come out to $850. So not only did they outright LIE about the condition of her brakes, they attempted to charge her over $600 more than what they quoted to me (a male) for the same job. We're both Mazda owners who had just moved. Both of our cars had been dealer serviced since new, but not anymore. Buy your car here, but don't give these criminals a dime of your service money. read more

During a recent car shopping trip (Mazda 3 and the Mazda CX5 ) I stopped in - solo - to test drive the two mentioned cars. I stood in the nearly empty show room for almost 10 minutes. The sales managers were busy eating at their desk - which overlooks the sales floor - their domain I assume. They looked right at me - no smile, no "someone will be right with you", no "can we help you", nothing. As I was walking out I stopped someone who looked like a salesman and asked if anyone was actually selling cars today. He was (apparently but wreaked of smoke so I assume it was his break) and asked me to wait while he finished something up and would help me. I test drove both cars and called my husband to come back and do the same while the salesman went over to ask the sales manager a question - he was still eating an hour later the guy looked over at me and shrugged. Really? Needless to say I called my husband back and we decided to go else where we did and will be picking up our brand new Mazda CX5 at the end of the week. Really a shame, if not for the total lack of customer service, salesmanship and interest we would have been an easy sale. I would never recommend to friends and family. read more

I can't really say anything positive about my experiences here. I bought a used CX5 here in early fall. There was interior damage to the car and as part of our deal, the sales team agreed to provide a second key for the car and fix the damage to the center console. After several months of trying to track them down and get them to order the necessary parts, today is when the repairs are finally taking place. I shouldn't be having to track them down to do their jobs. You expect car dealers to be flaky and snaky, but you hate to see it confirmed. read more

I didn't end up buying my car at Fitzgerald's/Fitzmall but I wanted to write a review for an internet salesman named Matt Wood. I was considering purchasing a car in Annapolis and having it shipped out to Oregon because the prices were very good. In the end, the freight ended up going to cost more than originally quoted so I bought the car locally (for $1000 more than Fitzmall's price). If you need a Mazda, give Fitzmall a call and ask for Matt Wood. He helped me generously with his time via email and on the phone. He also talked to the people at the dealership to give me the answers I needed about buying a car from out of state. There is no doubt that if I were local and wanted a new car I'd buy from Fitzmall. After 11 years of driving my poor 1990 Honda Civic, I reluctantly accepted that I needed to buy a new car. I worked with and visited about 8-10 car dealerships before settling on the car I wanted and trying to work out a price. After getting very frustrated looking for the model I wanted in the color I wanted (a blue 2011 or 2012 Mazda2 Sport with manual transmission... who knew it would be so hard to find a blue car??) and then being overwhelmed by the price other dealerships were offering, I saw a TV commercial for the website truecar.com and thought I'd give it a try. One of the suggested dealerships with the lowest offered price was Fitzgerald, so I contacted them to see if they could find the model and color I wanted, and to see whether they would give the price that truecar.com said they would. They really did offer me the price quoted. Unfortunately, they were unable to find me the color car I wanted (after me calling/emailing two dozen dealerships in the area, apparently other dealerships were hoarding the blue model I'd requested, hoping I'd return... way to shoot myself in the foot) but Fitzgerald was the first dealership to actually EMAIL me EXACTLY what I'd be paying for the car, spelling out the taxes, fees, and eventual interest for the interest rate I'd be most likely to get. Most other dealerships wouldn't even quote me a price over the phone before I came in to see them, let alone in writing... they'd just tell me that the best deals were available once I was actually in the showroom (which required several exhausting trips out to distant dealerships... without a car). Even though I ultimately had to go with another dealership that had the color I wanted, my experience with Ronnie and Christopher at Fitzgerald was definitely good. They tried very hard to find me what I wanted, and were very understanding when I eventually had to go elsewhere. read more

They're completely inept and shady in my book. I called in to make a service appointment and referenced a promotion that I received in the mail from them. I asked to be scheduled for the summer service special which is $69.95. On the day of appointment, it wasn't until after they checked me in and took my keys that they informed me that "my price" is actually $129, nearly double what was listed on the mailer that they sent to me. When I originally called to make the appointment, their system already told them who I was and what kind of car I had without me even giving my name. So he clearly would have known at that time that, based on the car I have, I required synthetic oil. Therefore it would have been appropriate to be informed AT THAT TIME that I can not actually receive the promotional rate that THEY offered me in the first place. Side note, when I had remote start installed on my car a couple of months prior, they could not show me how to use the remote! After showing me the power button, he said something along the lines of "there's a manual in your car, just look through that." I didn't pay $1,000 to read a manual. They are the Mazda experts and should know best how to operate the products they sell. I will not use their service department again, will not buy another car from this dealer, and strongly urge others to watch out for the bait and switch. I do not feel like they respect their customers and will provide the very minimal amount of customer service required to get you through the door. Edited to add: a few days after my service appointment, my tire pressure alert went off. After checking with two different gauges, I found that none of the tires were actually flat. They were all actually OVER inflated from the recommended 34 PSI to (somehow) varying amounts ranging from 40-52(!?!?) PSI and the monitor was then reset to the new, incorrect amounts. How incredibly dangerous! I immediately brought this to their attention and was offered a service credit, as if I would ever visit this shop again.... read more

I would like to say a good word about Fitzgerald Mazda based on my experience so far. My wife and I recently bought a 2009 Mazda Miata, Touring Model. I spent over a year browsing these cars, at Fitzgerald and others. There was never a hassle and no telemarketing calls or emails. They were patient with my questions, and members of their sales staff were technically well versed on the technical features of the car. Even the sales associates not directly working with me were helpful. When it came time to buy, they had a nice selection of 09 models. While this particular store is one of he smaller Mazda dealerships around since Annapolis is small, it was intteresting that they probably the most extensive in the Baltimore and Washington DC metro areas. Most of the other dealers were overstocked with last year's models and were trying to unload those. We found the exact car we wanted in their inventory. It was prepared quickly and the purchase went smoothly. Our other two cars are Hondas, and when it is time to replace them, without question we will consider Mazda. We appreciate the chance to work with sales associates Chris and Amanda, and manager Jeff. VERY DISHONEST. I reached out to this dealership via truecar about a 2015 mazda3 which I was interested in getting. I was contacted by Ronald Bobst who offered the car to me for hundreds of dollars more than the truecar certificate stated. When I brought it to his attention, he agreed to honor the price which was on the certificate. (Red flag#1). We continue communicating via email about the car ( I refused his calls because I deliberately wanted everything in writing). I was ready to come in the next day and purchase the car but then I had a gut feeling that I should pull up the car fax report... just in case (especially since it was low mileage and the price seemed too good to be true) low and behold, "Severe damage, airbag deployed etc..." I was surprised. To test his integrity, I shot him an email and asked if the car had ever been involved in an accident and of course, he said no. Clean car fax! That was all I needed to hear to know that this is not the dealership to ever purchase a car from. RUN!!! read more

I feel robbed. I got a tire sensor replace today (06/23/14) in my Mazda. On the phone they quoted $130, i took time off work and when I turned up they charged $240. They claimed their price excluded labor. While I was there I called Heritage Mazda they quoted $160 including install and the sensor. I had no choice but to go with Fitzgerald as I needed it done. However i just called pep boys...$69 for the sensor and $20 to install. You expect dealer prices to be high, but pepboys were $89 (total),heritage (another dealer) were $160 and the gangsters aka Fitzgerald were $240. I will never buy from them again. To add insult to injury apparently all I actually needed was a TPMS service kit cost is $6 from www.tpms.com . Apart from writing this review I also complained to Mazda directly. As a followup either to the online review or the complaint to Mazda. I did receive a call from Fitzgerald today (06/26/14). As part of this I did get an apology and a rebate. I ended up paying the same as the Heritage price ($160). I was still robbed (should have paid $6 plus the install cost of the service kit). Basically I ended up paying dealers price and getting more work done than was required. But that is a lot better than the original issue, which was having more work done and paying an extra 50% on top of that that. So take a couple of lessons from this: 1) If you decide to deal with Fitzgerald be careful. Call other dealers/ garages know your price before you go there for both labor and parts. 2) If they try change the price when you arrive walk out and go somewhere else. 3) Be sure they do not charge up for work not required ( sensor versus the service kit) 4) If all else fails review them and email Mazda. Looking through the other reviews this seems to be a trend with Fitzgerald...over charging. I still recommend not dealing with them. read more

Two bad experiences, and then no more. first a simple oil change. I left the dealer, and parked at a nearby store. The manager came to find me in the store, telling me my car was smoking. Took it back, several hours later, it was just spilled oil on an exhaust pipe. No harm, but it was sloppy work, and it cost me several wasted hours. Next, took a new (used) mazda to them for MD inspection. They tell me the rear brakes need adjustment. I tell them go ahead. Pick it up, about five miles later, I stop at a light and I am engulfed in smoke. Pull in and check, and yep, the rear brakes are seized. Car had to be towed back to the dealer. They did not offer anything off on the repair, nor did they replace the pads. More wated time, more sloppy work. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

Excellent service department. Very efficient . I own two Mazda's, one of which was purchased from Fitzgerald Mazda in 2012. (Which was a great experience). Over the past six years I have used the service department four or five times for services that I can't do myself. Most recently, they accomplished two recalls on my car. I was very pleased with the gentlemen that helped me and the loaner car that was provided. Trustworthy service departments are hard to find these days. Keep up the good work! read more
