Being that the food was just OK, it was certainly over priced. I had venison which depending on what the deer eats can be much like beef so it was like a thick filet. My wife had boar pot pie. VERY OVERRATED! I was looking forward to trying this when we stayed at Margaritaville and I knew going in it was going to be expensive but we wanted to try something nice. The waiter was wonderful. However, if you're going to pay $55 for a steak, it better be melt in your mouth DANG GOOD and it was just good but not wonderful. The Brussels sprouts were dry and hard. My appetizer Coconut Shrimp batter wasn't done all of the way and it wasn't really coconut shrimp. It didn't have the taste of it. My Chocolate Martini was delicious. First time there. View was nice of the river. Server was upbeat and attentive. We did not get any alcoholic beverages. Bill was around $150 plus an additional $30 tip on top of that. That gives you an idea of cost. We each had a filet (the larger 10oz) and they were cooked perfectly. You could add toppings if you want. I did not. We accidentally got a side of asparagus that was just ok. I much prefer grilled asparagus but that's just my taste buds. The bread and various butters were really good. There were different flavors of salt and fresh cracked pepper to add to your food that they leave on the table. That was new/different/interesting. LOL My husband had a Caesar salad but he said it was too anchovy-ish. He ate it tho. ;) the creme brûlée was ok. I'm not a connoisseur of the dessert but I wasn't a huge fan of it. Kinda tasted like vanilla pudding with burned sugar on top. I know that's what creme brûlée is but I guess I expected something different. I don't know what. I wish I'd gotten the chocolate cake is my lesson there. ;) We saw the server Millie who a lot of people rave about and I told her she is a popular pick according to Yelp. She was happy to hear this. She actually delivered our food for our waiter. We will try this place again and get some other things but I still love our old standby Saltgrass... It's cheaper and satisfying just the same or better. The Gruyère cheese scalloped potatoes were tasty but not as tasty as a couple of our other local restaurants-- we prefer a creamier and stronger cheese flavor than these. These were light and not the cheesiest-tasting so they were just okay. One thing I was kinda shocked by was that the bus boy came by our table and didn't ask but just started picking up our plates without even asking if we were done. I still had 1/2 a roll, a few bites of potatoes, some asparagus... I mean... maybe ask the patrons if they are done first. I was full enough but I just thought that was kinda rude/unprofessional. Right when you walk in the door, their is a unpleasant smell, reminded me of a fish market. We were seated immediately and a waitress took our drink and appetizer order shortly. She brought bread and cracker basket and assorted butter tray. Very nice service. We ordered a crab cake to start. The crab cake had real crab meat in it, and the ratio of meat and cake was excellent. The crab cake fell short on seasoning. We were able to doctor it up with lemon juice, salt and cocktail sauce but man, some Tony's or old bay would have done the trick easily! Our meal came out and my salad was fresh and beautiful. My husband likes a medium steak and he received a medium well done steak. He did not send it back. The mushroom gravy or sauce was inedible. The roasted potatoes stole the show on that plate. The green beans had zero taste, they needed oil, salt, and bacon grease on them desperately. The au gratin potato's were more scalloped then au gratin, not enough cheese and potatoes were not consistently cooked. The smaller slices were easier to eat and the larger uncooked potatoes were pushed to the side. Bread pudding was just like we do at home. Very good taste. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and we had no wait time for service. The flow is very well, food needs seasoning and more attention to detail in cooking. It's a steakhouse! Food was sub par. I ordered a New York steak medium rare. It came out well done unfortunately. It that's not a huge deal so I ate some of it. It was just bland and awful. I don't consider myself a master griller by any means but I know for a fact that I could cook a better steak than this one on a stovetop. Had a reservation for 6:30. Did not get seated until 6:45-6:50 despite many tables being open. Hostess appeared to care less. We and another couple also waiting for a 6:30 reservation were told to sit in bar and wait. Finally got seated and ordered salads and an appetizer. Got our salads but appetizer took forever. Waiters excuse was that another server took it and gave it to another table that didn't even order it. Multiple tables around us, who came in way after us, got appetizers and finishing entrees when we finally got food. Waiter brought our bill but left credit card somewhere. We had to ask for it back. The manager did apologize and comped our bill after asking how the dinner was and listening to our concerns.This was our second visit here and the first was just mediocre. We decided to try again because we were attending a concert there. Just barely made it in time. Food was decent but unfortunately there is way better food and service at Jack Binions at Horseshoe. January 15, 2023, was the 75th anniversary of my birth. It was a Sunday. Since the pandemic of 2020 began, my husband and I have curtailed our eating out significantly. No problem......my husband, our children, and I all love to cook and have fun eating around our kitchen table or around our formal dining room table where we seat10 comfortably. We love to eat. And we love to try all kinds of food. And we appreciate the differences between good food and great food. We had no idea that hardly any of the restaurants we were considering for the big night out were closed on Sunday nights. That's how we got to enjoy our first meal at Jimmy's. We are not casino fans and had never been in the Margariteville complex before. No problem..........Jimmy's is on the main floor and a short walk from the parking lots. We were quickly seated at a lovely booth under the shiny crystal bubbles, as we had requested. Two and a half hours later we left having experienced one of the most delightful meals in our memories. The wait staff was professional but very friendly. We had the feeling they really wanted us to have a great time. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and what went in to the various dishes. As "foodies" we appreciated that. The cocktails were delightful...We're not snobs about our alcohol, but we can tell a good drink from a mediocre drink....our drinks were just what we hoped they would be. We kept a menu and began ordering course by course. Everyone has different tastes, so there is no need for me to describe our particular dishes. It's a safe bet that anything on the menu would be superbly prepared and delivered to your table. I confidently recommend a trip to Jimmy's Seafood and Steak Restaurant hidden away in the corner of the Margariteville Casino in Bossier City, LA. We went to Jimmy's for my husbands birthday. (My husband and I are 67 years old.) Our reservation was for 5:00pm, right when they opened. It was not crowded. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. We had been there before and enjoyed the food and service. Our waitress talked so fast we barely could understand her. When we asked her to repeat what she said she came across as if we had inconvenienced her. We blew it off because people have bad days. We both ordered the 6oz filets prepared medium. The meat was chewy and not tender. We also ordered the roasted brussels sprouts. Which half of them were burnt. We mentioned the steaks being chewy and our waitress' response was it must have ben a bad cut of meat. We knew then that it was useless to say anything more. We decide instead of making an issue of it that we would not go back. For some reason I got the feeling our waitress thought we were out of place and really couldn't afford to be there. Our bill came to $204.00 which we expected going in, because of the poor service and food we only left a 10% tip. There is another steak house in town that is outstanding that we had planned to go to but since Jimmy's was in the casino we decided to stay there. read more

Was in town for business, so came here for dinner with my cousin. The restaurant decor and atmosphere was amazing to start with. Great menu with something for everyone. Servers were amazing. Food was incredible. Great wine list as well. I had the potato cheese soup, King crab (carved out tableside), white asparagus with pine nuts, and Bananas Foster flambé tableside. All was amazing. My cousin got the filet duo and I had a bite and the steak was amazing. Even the bread with a selection of three butters for a starter was great. A nice touch was the salt trio including: Black lava salt from Hawaii, pink salt from Bali, and another White Sea salt I can't remember.
