This review is for the process in trying to get a consultation and quote - in the end we did not hire based on this experience. TLDR; James was extremely unprofessional and unresponsive while just trying to set up a consultation for a quote. Twice he didn't show up at an agreed upon time. He even didn't show up to an appointment time that he set himself, and said it was because he took his family to the movies. We would not recommend him. YMMV. This was for a network wiring job on a new house (not moved in yet). I first reached out via Yelp for a quote, but never heard back. The next business day I gave a phone call, and was able to speak with the owner, James. He mentioned that sometimes communications get lost in the Yelp message system, but we talked a bit about the basics of my project and then he told me to shoot him an email through their website. He said he would be in the area on that Thursday and would let me know the exact time that day. I said sure, we'll be at the house for that day meeting other contractors anyway. Wednesday I called but got no response or email confirmation for Thursday. Thursday comes, I call but again, no response. I left a voicemail both times, asking for a confirmation. We leave the new house at about 5PM, never heard from him for the rest of the day. Friday morning I receive a text that just says, "You home". I tell him that we were not at the house, but could be there that afternoon, I ask him, "are you available after 1:30PM?". He responds, "Sunday around noon". I say that we can do that time and he confirms, although I'm taken back by his communication thus far I thought this would be the end of it. NOPE. Sunday noon comes around, James isn't there. No calls or texts. At around 12:20 I text asking if he was still going to show. No response. At 1PM we decide to leave to run some errands and grabs lunch. He calls me at 1:30 and says that he took the family out to watch Jurassic Park(?????). No apologies. I tell him that we weren't home at that moment but could be back in about an hour. He responds that he also had errands to run and to call when we were done. When we completed our errands I texted and called him at 3PM to let him know we were back at the house. NO RESPONSE. We left at the end of the day and he finally texted back at 6:40PM, saying "I will be in SJ for a small job at 8:30 tomorrow". At this point, I'm so fed up with the lack of responses, the unprofessional nature of the responses, and the lack of accountability (he never apologized once or offered an explanation for why he didn't show up, or for why he decided to take his family out to the movies when HE SET THE APPOINTMENT TIME), that I just asked for a quote over text. He gave a pretty low quote ($6/700 for two drops in a room) but honestly, combined with the difficulty just to get him to see the house, this actually caused us to distrust him even more. The entire situation was so mind boggling and frustrating, all for an in-person consult and quote. read more

He was in touch with me over the phone within the day and scheduled a quick time for a walkaround. Within a few days him and Doug were there to complete the installation across the rooms. Doug and James were fast and professional - it was hard to believe that they put in the wall plate and mounted the wire on the wall so cleanly across the outside of the house in as little time as they did. Paid a lot of money for a big job that included several TVs throughout the house, SONOS w ceiling speakers throughout house and backyard, hardwiring Internet throughout house, and WiFi expansion upstairs. - Messy wiring - No clean up: dry wall powder all over the place - WiFi doesn't work...went back to normal Comcast WiFi - All TVs and components were hard wired, but don't work. Had to use Comcast WiFi for all components. - Had to leave early and rushed end of install for his daughter's softball game - After the install, he won't take any time to show you how everything works. - After install, if you need support or small things done, good luck. James makes it very known that it's not worth his time. (Talk about feeling helpless.) - Remote fell and screen cracked. Not worth Jame's time to sell us a new one and have it programmed. We now need to use 3 remotes: James's remote for sound, Direct TV remote for cable, Receiver remote to switch inputs. Sucks! James goes after big jobs, but doesn't care about support or service or any smaller jobs after. His installs are sloppy and rushed. We would not recommend. We need help and will have to hire someone else to fix everything. read more

I have a 5.1 system and I moved homes so I wanted to set it up in the new place. I had all the equipment and the previous owner had left behind all the speaker wires. They were a bit tangled and I also wanted to position the speakers differently. The home  also had an outdoor patio where all the wiring was done but the outdoor speakers and TV had to be connected via a receiver. Apart from this I wanted to setup a Harmony remote.  I called James Miller and he came home to look at everything, offer his opinion and assess the work involved. I really liked interacting with him - he wasnt pushy about selling stuff and just wanted to find the solution that would work well for me. We agreed that he will be sending his 2 man crew for $70 an hour per person (so $140 an hour for the two of them) until they get the work done. This was a mistake. Its hard to schedule something with James and his crew eventually came by 2-3 weeks later. I had wired the same system in my previous home myself so I knew how to do it and had a good idea of how long it'll take. I expected the entire job to take 2 to 2.5 hours for 2 guys but they ended up taking 4 hours! AND they didnt finish everything I wanted to get done. One of them was fine but the other one was *very* slow. They made more than 20 trips to the van to get something spending 3-5 mins on every trip (not exaggerating at all! like why cant you just make 5 trips and get everything you want).  The overall quality of the work was reasonable. So my recommendation is that if you want to use these folks, agree on the price and setup beforehand. read more

I used these guys at our "new" home in 2012. Overall, they did a great job and were nice. They were open to doing more but help me control the cost. Giving them 5 stars, but I had one major complaint aboutbhow the outside wiring was done, which is really a glaringly obvious standout because it wasn't done next to the existing conduit. I would have at least expected someone to ask where I wanted the exposed wiring to go. I'd use them again, but I'd make sure to be really explicit and not assume any placement. read more

He came by and gave me a free quote and started working on the job that same week. He's meticulous and knowledgeable about what he does. This includes running CAT6 around my house, HDMI runs to my projector and installing in-ceiling surround speakers. I'm extremely pleased with the work they did. My only complaint is that he doesn't have a drywall guy on his team to patch any holes they make. He referred me to someone else for that.
