This review is way past overdue, please excuse me. A few years ago, I had called Tony out here to hook up my flat screen tv with the stereo components and yes, I still have VHS as well. So I would have surround sound theater mode with all my components, CD player, etc,etc. He told me my old tv, not flat screen, a Toshiba, had more ports to hook to, but the newer tv's do not. Wow that's a shock! He did a great job and had the necessary cables, optical, and the price was fair. I'd call him in an instant if you need someone capable, pleasant and bends over backwards to please you. Thanks to Yelp, I got an early morning notification Blossom Hill TV could come to my home by 9 am. I called them and they were here before 9, got my TV wired up and the remotes unified in no time and the TV settings programmed. I had spent about four hours the previous day unboxing the TV, then on a lengthy call with DISH Satellite, who then gave me a number to call for Samsung. I got nowhere with Samsung and I gave up for the day. Blossom Hill TV personnel were friendly. and knowledgeable. Got me going in no time. I highly recommend them! read more

A few months ago my LG television suddenly developed what I now know to be called solarization (colors were not being displayed properly). I immediately began to search for local TV repair shops and came across Blossom Hill TV. I emailed Tony with a photo and a description, and he quickly identified the most likely cause and offered an estimate. I made an appointment, dropped of my television, and it was ready for pick up within a week. When I brought it home, it was clear the color issue had been corrected. Unfortunately some other problems had arisen. At that point I began to wonder if I should have just purchased a new device. The TV is nearly 11 years old, and my friends and coworkers had urged me to buy a new setup and not bother at all with repair, but I happen to be very fond of the unit. It had done well for me up to that point, and if I could get it back in shape, I would prefer that route. I also had the concerns of saving money and protecting the environment by avoiding creating more waste, plus I really enjoy supporting local business. I had found myself out $125 with the prospects of needing to spend even more money on a new TV, and I was feeling discouraged. Recently just purchased a house that's 6000+ sqft with an additional 3000 sqft game room. Tony was able to extend my Wi-Fi throughout the whole house using access points including the game room. He came for 2 days and was punctual for both days. I also had a sound system from sonos in place and Tony / Greg were able to configure it for me and get everything setup transferring ownership from the pervious owners. 5 stars not only because my Samsung TV was fixed and it was working again. I found Blossom Hill TV 2 days before Thanksgiving. My family has owned several TVs in the past and this was the very first time we had one that just popped and decided to not show ay picture - like the screen was black. Imagine having no TV on one of the most celebrated holiday ? It's like having turkey with no stuffing...or something like that. Before calling this listing, I read reviews and eventually got tired reading of all the same feedback. Ring, ring Siri. Tony answered my call right away and I told him what happened to my TV. He sounded very patient (although I'm quite sure he hears THESE lines ALL the time). So, Tony takes my information and we schedule a drop off to his shop. There's a $75 charge if they pick it up and deliver back when it's fixed. Hmmm, I opted for that. They are experts in transporting these kinds of appliances and who knows, if my son and I carried it, we will potentially face totally wrecking the darn TV. My TV is a Samsung plasma TV I bought from Best Buy years ago. It was working perfectly despite a busted remote battery slot but according to my son, a spark from behind occurred while he watched TV and eventually the TV smelled like something was burning. Fast Forward, since they came to pick up the TV the day before Thanksgiving, I didn't expect to have it back over the holidays and I didn't want to nag Tony and ask him questions that might make them rush the work and end up with another burnt power source. Eventually, I was told Tony had fixed it and he asked me what time works best so they can drive the TV back. He makes house calls like a doctor, only for sick television! I told Tony when he delivered my all-good and fixed TV that he makes people happy with what he does. Imagine being a TV junkie and your TV breaks ? I told him to keep doing what he's doing. Had I gone to the Suicide Geek Squad, I may have been charged an amount enough to buy a new one. Tony is a very diplomatic and patient man. Personable and told me that I have a TV worth fixing - worth keeping . I appreciate his honest opinion. They brought my TV back, hooked all the shenanigans back and bam! My TV was quite large (65 inches) and was located on the second floor of a narrow townhouse stairway so I paid an extra $75 to have pick up/return delivery (definitely worth it if you don't have a easy way to transport your TV) Tony and his team are true professionals. Here is a copy of the email I sent to Blossom Hill TV on President's Day 2012 after a weekend of frustration due to them having my TV and not returning any of my calls or delivering on their promise: Tony, I'm very disappointed. When I left my Vizio GV42L with you on Friday (2-17-2012), you said that you would do a diagnostic on it and get back to me within one day with a quote to fix it. As we discussed, I wanted to know early in the weekend if it was going to be something that was worth fixing or if I should take advantage of the President's Day weekend sales to go shopping for a new TV. I left you a couple of voicemails on your phone and sent you an email on Saturday afternoon after I also stopped by your shop wondering what the status was. The truck was there, but no one answered my knock on the door or when I rang the doorbell. Now it's Monday (2-20-2012), and I'm moving past disappointed to quite upset. I found you on Yelp, and I trusted that all of the positive reviews meant that I would also have a positive experience. I called, and your voicemail said to email the specific problem... so I did. I described it in the same detail that I explained it verbally at your shop. By email, your initial quote of $225 to fix the power supply for the backlight had me very encouraged, but then when I brought it to you and told you the exact same thing that was in the email, you said that based on what I described it was probably not the backlight power supply but rather the main board. I asked if that meant it would be more expensive to fix, and you said that you'd get that information for me within a day so that I could make a decision. Since I found you on Yelp and trusted the 5 star reviews, it's only fair that I post this on Yelp as well. I feel duped and betrayed. If I hadn't taken you my TV like you asked, I would still have it at home and would have been able to look into taking it to a different repair shop - or even taking advantage of some of the repair guys that have offered to come to my house to look at it. But... my TV is not at home. It's sitting in your shop. It's Monday, and I haven't heard from you since I left your shop on Friday morning! I sincerely hope there is a good explanation for the way that this whole transaction has transpired. Otherwise, I'd say that people should be aware that something like this could happen to them if they put their trust in your word that you will do something within a certain time frame. **UPDATE**changed from 1-star to 2-stars** Shortly after I posted this review, I got both an email and a call from Tony who acknowledged that he dropped the ball. He gave me a quote to fix the TV, but by this time my wife and I had soured on waiting on him and decided that I would just pick up the TV. It's too bad, really. If he had gotten back to me on Saturday, we probably would have had him fix the TV at least to get us through another 6 months or so until we can get a good replacement TV for the living room. I'm upgrading this review to 2-stars since Tony didn't charge me a diagnostic fee when I picked up the TV, but I can't really go with "A-OK" or "Yay! I'm a fan" since I still endured a frustrating weekend of communications silence and still have a busted 42" TV sitting here taunting me. Tony didn't offer to do anything major to make me feel better - maybe he was just as glad that I took my TV and left. I don't know. For now I'll just raid the bedroom for its 26" TV and use that as we limp along waiting for either a miraculously inexpensive fix to our 42" TV or a price break on the replacement TV that we want. read more

I had a fairly unusual TV repair issue. A few months ago I saw an insect crawling on my 50" Samsung TV. I went over to brush it off with a cloth. It didn't move. I did it again. This time it stopped. And it was dead - on the inside of my TV! Entombed on the inside of the protective outer clear plastic of the TV. So I Google'd around to see what can be done. People suggested using a suction cup and pulling over the insect area to let it drop down. Didn't work. Months later, after the spider was still on my TV, driving me crazy, I contacted Samsung support, and they just said the TV was out or warranty, pointing me to an authorized dealer repair shop. I didn't like the authorized repair shop's Yelp review, so I called up a 5 star shop in Mountain View. The guy wanted to charge me $50 for a house call, $12 per 10 minutes, and said because it was an LED TV, probably could not fix it. I then called up Tony at Blossom Hill. He said I could probably open up the TV and blow some air in to fix it, but offered to fix it for $65. I dropped off the TV at his shop 30 minutes later. A few hours later got the call that the TV was fixed, and went down to pick it up! Tony laughed when I got there, mentioning that my particular TV was assembled via tape and plastic clips, so they actually took 2.5 hours doing the repair work, including carefully removing the now burned in spider remains on the inside of the TV screen. I felt bad about that and offered to pay more, but Tony wanted to make good on the $65 estimate. Got the TV back home, spider gone, working perfectly, and a 3 hour, $65 fix that other shops probably would have told me was un-fixable. Awesome service, will always go back for any TV issues. LOVE MY TV AGAIN!! I called Tony after seeing many good Yelp reviews and needing my TV fixed after suddenly having no screen at all with static. I emailed him and he had me try to some things but still no screen so he did a house call that was very reasonably priced. He fixed my TV and discovered I had the incorrect cable to HD! Now I have my screen back and a beautiful HD Screen for real now!! He was easy to work with, punctual, and extremely knowledgable. I would recommend him to anyone who has problems with their TV. I was having issues with my TV. I saw on their website that you can email them your TV brand, model number, and description of your issue, and someone would email you back with a rough estimate for the repair. I emailed them at 8:50am on a Saturday morning. I received a response from Tony at 9:30am the same day telling me that the issue was likely a panel, and that it would not be cost effective to have it repaired. Tony could have easily told me to come in for a diagnostic test, which would have cost me more (other places have tried to do the same in the past). Instead, he was honest. He received no money from me, but he told me the truth. I really appreciate that from a business. Hopefully, my television does not have an issue, but, if it does, then I will definitely be going to Blossom Hill TV to have it fixed. read more

My Samsung DLP lamp blew out after 4 years. Three other friends had DLP's and could not identify the lamp number nor could they locate anybody who could tell them the number of the lamp. The only way to get the lamp number is to remove the lamp housing. The number is on top of the housing. All three people laughed and said, "You will have to buy a new tv." Well, Blossom Hill Tv in San Jose had the lamp in stock. We drove to San Jose with the housing. Tony installed the new lamp, and the tv works perfectly. read more

Our 65" Samsung TV stopped showing video and gave a black/blue screen only. I could hear audio though. We almost replaced it with a brand new TV but I googled "no video, audio only on Samsung" and found out it was possibly repairable. Called Tony at Blossom Hill TV and he gave me an estimate. BH TV fixed a power supply on my Samsung Plasma, and ran an overnight burn-in test, all within 48 hrs. He's capable of testing and reworking individual components in the power supply and replacing just what's needed (saves cost and time to acquire special parts kits). Very pleased with the quality of work, approach, and turn-around-time. Fees were reasonable. Also a very pleasant person to work with. One note for new customers, his shop is in a residential neighborhood with a built-on lab/office. I was a initially surprised with where the GPS was taking me, but his facilities are sufficient and I suppose it keeps the prices down while allowing him flexible time to repair and test. read more

My Samsung LCD had begun taking 10-15sec to power on and would randomly display pink pixels unless I switched it off/on. A quick call to Tony and he immediately knew the problem based on my description (apparently a common problem with my model I would later find) and gave me an estimate. I don't live far so I said I could drop off the set at his 'shop'. Don't let the work-at-home facade put you off, inside he has a totally legit workshop and I dropped off my TV among dozens others he was currently working on. Tony fixed it in two-days and explained the power-supply/capacitor problems that I also confirmed in other online forums. Over the past 10+ years I have had Tony help us on 3 or 4 occasions. This is a guy that I will say knows his stuff and is trustworthy. Each time we have had Tony come out, he has been on time, quick, friendly, and reasonable in quoting his repairs. On his last visit Tony gave me the news that it is time to retire one of our TV's. Instead of taking the unit back to his shop to try and get more services out of us, he encouraged me to go buy a new TV. Also, while he was wrapping up I heard Tony take another call from a customer who described their problem. Instead of scheduling a house call Tony had them send him a picture of their TV screen so he could pre-diagnose the problem and give them a repair quote that way. I am not sure how many repair places really think about the customer first. In my experience, Tony is always thinking about his customer first. That is exactly why I feel good about calling Tony and giving him my business. read more
