They tried installing a smart thermostat ~6 months ago, and broke the connection with the AC. After a few visits with HVAC technicians and electricians, it seems like they gave up trying to fix it, and just ghosted us. Buyer beware. I've been trying for months to get this company to fix a problem caused by their incorrect installation of an Ecobee thermostat (after we specifically asked them to only install it if it was an easy switch from our Honeywell). The installation left our AC unable to communicate with the thermostat, and we had to sleep with the windows open for several days in late fall. After I followed up several times with the company, Peter returned and said an electrician was needed. When the electrician came (without Peter), he spent three hours at our house but couldn't figure out the problem. I then had to again repeatedly follow up with the company, and promises to schedule repairs were often ignored. Even the owner apologized and said it would be fixed, but no one would call or text me back. Today, months later, they told me for the very first time that this kind of issue can't be fixed until the weather warms up, and that they can only schedule a different electrician to do a walkthrough. During months of me following up, it was never communicated that this repair needed to wait until warm weather, and I had been told in the fall by Peter that they just needed to run a wire from upstairs furnace to basement wiring that connects to outdoor AC (all of which would be work done indoors). I waited to write this because I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this has been the worst customer service experience I've ever had with a company. read more

We had a Generac generator installed that runs on propane. The need to connect the propane tank to the generator required a preliminary setup  that had to be inspected by the town for leaks and for code compliance. It passed with flying colors. Just now, John Norlander - company owner - came on a Sunday to complete the connection. He explained that the generator installer needed the propane hookup done ASAP so he could finish the job and get it ready for final inspection this week. Big John (his preferred name) contacted us to see if it was OK to come on a Sunday (no extra cost) to support the generator installer. Of course, we said yes! Earlier this year, the condo was having issues and not turning on. The condo association recommended another service that charged $190/first hour and $170/hour after BUT they wouldn't be able to get there for another 2-3 days. I remembered my great experience with JNT and gave them a call. Not only were they more affordable but they were able to be there in 24 hours and fixed the issue. I called John at JNT Mechanical based on all the positive reviews. The first time he came out, I needed him to help me light the pilot light on our water heater--which I couldn't for the life of me get to light again. We had been out of hot water for just under a day at that point. He came and lit it Friday morning and told me to give him a call if anything else happened. Well, the water never warmed up. Our water heater is 14 years old, so it was clear we needed to just replace it. I messaged John bright and early Saturday morning. I told him the model I wanted, and he said he would install it Monday morning. I guess I could have called around to ask if someone else could have come on the weekend, but I just didn't have it in me to try. On Monday morning (also known as Day Four of No Hot Water...), John showed up exactly when he said he was going to with the exact model of water heater I wanted. It took about two hours to install it, and holy smokes, our water is so much better than before. In hindsight, it's clear that the water heater had been struggling to fully heat water for at least a few months. I have nothing but good things to say about John. After another company serviced my air conditioner, it stopped working. I called JNT who told me the unit was frozen over & they suspected a leak in the line. They turned it off so the ice could melt & they could return to inspect further. I prepared myself for the need to buy an entirely new AC unit. When JNT returned, they determined there was no leak in the line and "tightened a few screws that were probably left loose by the previous company." I haven't had any problems since. I was completely prepared to spend over $1000 on a new unit, and they didn't charge me anything for the return visit. I'll never call another HVAC company again. JNT is the best! read more

The first was a few years back, doing electrical updating on my condo, and the second was today with my AC unit... up on the roof of a 4 story building. We first used JNT a few months ago when our furnace kept kicking off. They actually moved a previous appointment so Pete could attend to ours since we were without heat. Very, very thoughtful. Pete troubleshot and figured out the condensate pump had stopped and had backed up the pressure switch causing the issue within 5 min. I had had another company come out prior to JNT and they didn't troubleshoot. They just quoted me an outrageous amount for an part that was still good. To his great credit, was very patient and accommodating in answering all my questions and concerns. In the end, the problem was solved quite simply, and the charge for Peter's time and expertise was reasonable and proper. I wouldn't hesitate to use JNT again, and suggest that others consider trying them out--especially those with fears (or past experiences) of being 'stung' by one of the big hvac companies out there--those that always manage to find some part that needs replacing, and always for an enormously & shockingly inflated cost. Our heat when out on Saturday evening, so I called JNT early Sunday at 8 AM as the temp was down to 58 inside our home. Beforehand, I checked inside the furnace and it seemed that the igniter was not lighting the gas but I wasn't sure. JNT was at my door by 9:15 AM (on a Sunday, mind you) and spent the next 45 minutes diagnosing and replacing the igniter and fixing a stuck gas valve. It's 10 AM and we have heat again. I'm 9 months over due in writing this review. I found JNT through Yelp and decided to contact them because of all the positive reviews others had posted. I'm a naturally skeptical person when ALL the reviews are 5 stars, but after working with John, I can say that all the reviews are well deserved. I had sent him an e-mail through Yelp on a Sunday about installing 3 ceiling fixtures. Because it was Sunday, I didn't expect to get a response that day, but I got one within an hour. After exchanging a few messages, we set up an appt for John to come to my house to do the install. On the day of the appt, John was running late and contacted me proactively to let me know about the delay and asked if I wanted to wait or reschedule. I really wanted to get these lights done, so I said that I would wait. He and a young man (sorry, but I've now forgotten his name) came around 8PM and installed 3 somewhat complicated fixtures. It took them about an hour to get all 3 done. I'm sure they had a very long day by the time they got to my place, yet they were extremely upbeat, courteous, & conscientious. After calling the company who installed the unit and they weren't interested in even giving me the time of the day I started searching for another company. Alex patiently and politely listened to me asked all the correct questions accurately determined it wasn't an urgent concern and got a technician out ( which isn't easy considering my upside down work schedule). I called John on a Friday afternoon, explaining that we moved into a new house in December and when first trying the AC unit on the second floor it wouldn't kick on. He was able to come about 90 minutes later and quickly addressed the issue, a broken thermostat. Luckily we had a nest sitting in our basement, and he was able to install it and we were back in business. He went above and beyond explaining our air filter system to us and gave recommendations on how to make some alterations due to our unit being in a very inconvenient place. Seriously, JNT really is as good as it gets!! No joke. I came home yesterday, and some time between yesterday afternoon and evening, our air conditioner went out. It was 88 yesterday and 92 today. I called JNT this morning around 10am, and was thrilled that he could fit me in today! Then he surprised me by calling and saying he could get here 3 hours early if that was convenient. It wasn't, so he changed his scheduled lunch time to fit with my need to be gone from 12-1:00pm. Who does that???? WOW! We love Johnny!!! My fiancé and I just bought a house and you can say it's quite the fixer upper. When we moved in, one of the first things on our too doo list was temperature control. A childhood friend recommended JNT. We called and scheduled a appointment, Johnny came and literally fixed everything in a day! Our furnace was leaking from the PVC outlet from a bad install job and it was dripping onto the electric box where the on/off switch is located. Johnny replaced and fixed the PVC, swapped out the electrical box because it started to rust, tuned up the furnace, checked the whole system for leaks and efficiency, and then recommended and installed an Ecobee 4. Everything was done smoothly and quickly. And I'm soo happy he recommended going with the Ecobee 4 rather than the nest for more compatibility. For two the guy (john) who came was very polite knew exactly what I was talking about when I told him the problem on the phone he didn't want to quote me of course on the phone which I get but he actually let me explain the situation over the phone and I was freaking out because my furnace was not working for two days.
