Was using another HVAC company that did HVAC, electrical and plumbing. Had asked them to quote adding AC to the second floor. Every option they were giving me was super expensive. I said what about a space pac type system. They said that would be more cost effective and quoted it at about $30K. I thought this was way out of line for the work and it felt like they just thought I wasn't going to get other quotes since I had been using them for so long. But I did, and after a bunch of quotes I went with Ireland Air, Couldn't have been happier. They were the lowest but they we a third less and seemed much more knowledgeable! read more

I have been using Ireland for 6 years now, and fine them to be extremely responsive, quick for service needs, and filled with competent repair and installation people. The boss, David Ireland, has been to my house to evaluate a difficult problem. It took him 15 seconds to find my problem and eventually put in a new air conditioner for me. He explains things clearly and is very experienced, very patient, and an all around pleasure. Then I had a problem which no one could solve for 3 months. A terrible blowing and buzzing noise throughout the house. It was making me crazy. Kyle, the wonderful guy in the office who schedules and does many other things, sent me a younger technician, JOE, who got right to work. He admitted that the noise was way too loud and not normal, and was the only person I had had thus far who thought the furnace/AC was working properly. He went through the whole unit very systematically and shortly explained what he thought was wrong. He proposed I order a part, went right then and bought one, installed it, and presto! - there was no more buzzing! This young man was professional, persistent, patient, and a delight to interact with. For me today, Joe was worth his weight in gold and took a major problem off my bucket list! .......But there's more - he found an issue with my office air/heat unit, changed batteries in related equipment that no one had done before, cleaned rust off the outside unit - which was a first, didn't suggest we replace the unit which is pretty old but thought a replacement part would serve us well for a time. Joe cares about his customers and their money, and is very careful not to err. I watched everything he did and was very impressed - and I'm pretty fussy about workmen! If you have what you think is a unsolvable problem, call and ask for Joe to show up on your doorstep! He even suggested we get new carbon monoxide detectors and tole us where to put them. Our AC unit stopped blowing out cold air. They came out promptly but ultimately didn't fix it. Tiger said they'd call back and schedule an appointment to run a bunch of tests and we'd be down at least a week, minimum. For $150 it'd be cool to try and fix it or at least schedule the appointment to come out. We called another company today who came out cleaned the unit, checked for leaks, ran tests and fixed it. Also as a courtesy is coming again tomorrow to check in and make sure it's all good. Ultimately I feel like I paid Ireland to let us know we need to call another HVAC company. read more

Ive dealt with different repair persons/companies over the years...this one IMPRESSED me today! (Thus the yelp review). Although they had some delay in getting here on time, the office made the effort to call me and keep me updated on their estimated arrival time. Then they called to let me know when he would arrive. Once here, the technician was fantastic at communicating details about what he was doing and possible solutions. Install done and issues rectified. Voila he was done and very courteous. The best HVAC company I could imagine dealing with. I had another company try to convince me to do an emergency (2x the price!) gas valve replacement for my boiler. The cost of which rung up to over $500! I told them I needed a second quote so I called Ireland as they had done some work for me in the past. After taking a look at the valve and testing it for ~15min, Dave was able to find out that the valve was in fine condition. He was also able to show me how the previous HVAC specialist had misled me as the the condition of the valve. I have to say, I was prepared to buy the valve the next day from the first specialist as I had normally trusted that company. I've definitely learned my lesson. I will only be using Ireland from now on for my HVAC needs! TL;DR: Good prices, great people, incredibly trustworthy. read more

I have used them in the past but my experience with them in the summer of 2023 was horrible. It started out with them wanting me to sign an agreement and then immediately after I signed it they told me we cannot add any coolent to your Air conditioner if it needs it. Then the tech tells me I have to replace both my Aircon units because they are outdated even though one of them was still working. He told me the A-coil was bad with the other unit and but the unit was too old to fix. But he never even looked at the coil. So then I questioned him how did he know we didn't need coolent. He said I just know. So I told him I want him to check the coolent in that unit. So after I signed some other form (a wavier) he checked the coolent and there was none in the unit. But he was not allowed to add any coolent. Company policy I guess. I don't understand what they are doing, but telling someone to spend $20,000+ with one unit working and not willing to try and fix a unit ranks this company as not a viable option for any future Heating and Air needs in my book. read more

I am aghast and agog when things break down in my place. Imagine Nathan Lane in the Birdcage at his most hysterical. So I had some issues with my AC last summer. And it was in the midst of a heat wave. I was schvitzy. SCHVITZY!!!! Turns out it was some switch issue with my system. Easy to fix. Just a simple replacement. No fuss, no muss. And their customer service was tip-top. They turned my hysterical Nathan Lane into a calm Nathan Lane. Give em a call when your AC or heat goes on the fritz. You will be very happy. read more

I give their receptionist, Linda, no stars. Very rude and acted as if I was bothering her. We had somewhat of an emergency and needed them to come out to uninstall an AC unit for chimney work we needed done and then reinstall it afterwards. They weren't able to accommodate the date we originally requested and after about half dozen phone calls and back and forth emails they were able to accommodate but we already moved on to someone else. I would give Iris and the rest of the team 4 stars, they had great customer service and I was appreciative of them moving us up but we needed to get it scheduled ASAP. DO NOT USE IRELAND- Called Ireland for a A/C repair. The service person stated that there was nothing he could do. I had spoked to the installer of the A/C and gave instructions to the service person who stated that I was wrong and demanded $160 for the service call. We had no A/C for the 3 hottest days of summer until a service person from another company fixed the issue in 10 minutes using the same instructions. I called Ireland asking for a refund and was told I needed to speak with Dave Ireland, the owner. I callled 4 times over 10 days before getting him on the phone. He was rude and arrogant and refused to accommodate us in any way. I repeat- DO NOT USE IRELAND-- EVER!! read more

We just had our second piece of work done by Ireland, the installation of a whole house humidifier on the furnace/AC they installed this fall. As with the original furnace install, this job was perfect. Professional installation, knowledgable technician too. There was an unexpected engineering problem with our duct work, which required use of different humidifier model than originally planned, and some additional tinwork on the ducts was required, yet the project actually thus came in slightly under the original quote. Ireland provides precisely what one wants in contractor. I give them the highest recommendation. read more

If there were 10 stars these guys would get it! I recently moved up to Lake Forest, and had been using a company that was suggested to me for my heating and cooling needs. I didn't feel as though I was getting the right service provider on a number of fronts, one being honestly and integrity. Every time the other company came over, there was a new problem to fix that wasn't there, and the fees were unbelievable. I met Dave Ireland from another suggestion, to say that I was blown away would be an understatement. He assessed the issues, problems, and how to go about fixing it with a deep plan. I had never had this sort of experience from a service provider in this space! He walked me through everything and was incredibly straight forward. When, and if, you actually get a technician out to your house, they are top notch, and deserve 5 stars. Their customer service agents deserve 1 star, hence the mixed review. I signed up for their annual membership which includes a summer and winter cleaning of your heating and AC units. They sell it as a discounted price and that they will set up their appointments. (I like this as with many people remembering to schedule this is usually forgotten.) First year with them...July rolls around, no service. I call them and say 'Hey, aren't you supposed to schedule a service.' The response 'We called in May and no on answered.' Which led to me saying, really, what date and time? I have caller ID and since no one uses home phones any more, I have 6 months of caller ID I can see. Result....no caller ID showing that they called. I don't appreciate being lied to. Year 2, again I lost track and didn't think about it until the February of 2014, which was really cold. When I called they said, 'Oh we were there in September.' Then I had to remind them that yes, that was my 'so called' summer visit. Can I get my winter cleaning now that its almost spring?? Sorry, we are short staffed for cleanings, it will be about a month! When we moved we didn't even consider them to install our 2 new AC's and 2 new furnaces. Again, the techs are a great bunch of guys and did good repair would when needed. Overall, we have now learned that they are overpriced in general and please stay away from the maintenance contract! (They also need to work on their customer service person as she's pretty irritable for being the first point of contact for customers.) read more

Not impressed at all with my service experience. My heater was making a lot of noise and I saw this place had a good review so I gave them a shot. I will say they were pleasant on the phone when i called to make my appointment and explained that they charged $110 for the first hour plus $25 ever 15 minutes after that but most problems could be solved in an hour. They came to my house while I was at work and the one text I got from my wife said "the heater guy is here, he doesn't even know what's wrong with it". Later I was told a new circuit board was needed and they had to order the part....no big deal. They didn't tell my wife that they had turned off our heat or how to turn it back on so needless to say it was quite cold in the house that night. I called them the next day to find out what went on during the visit and found out the technician ordered the circuit board based on his boss's suggestion after having a phone conversation about what the problem could be.....this was less than encouraging because it felt like they were guessing. The owner got on the phone and explained he could have someone out there immediately to install the board but I wasn't sure if my wife would still be there so I had to check. I called back 3 minutes later and told the receptionist someone could be at the house any time after 11:00 and she told me should would call me back when they had an appointment IF the part got in today (I guess the board vanished). I got a voicemail at work at 2:00 and when i called back at 2:07 they said they had already given away all available time slots and when I explained that I had gotten a call not even 10 minutes ago she simply said they are busy. I was slightly irritated now but scheduled the appointment for the next morning. when the same technician came out I fully expected him to install a new circuit board but instead the next text i got from my wife was "he thinks it is the thermostat. he says we can get a cheaper one from the store and to try that. He is leaving." What really irritates me is he charged me for 30 minutes of labor to come out and NOT install what they said I needed. This means it took him 1.5 hours on day one to diagnose nothing and guess at the problem, then come back two days later to do no work but charge me for the labor, and finally bill me almost $200 for everything. I went to Lowes today and bought a $40 thermostat, installed it, and sure enough there is no problem with the heater. read more

I am terribly disappointed they do not stand behind work. First called them out to schedule regular maintenance and to repair a humidifier and it took them almost 4 weeks to come out to the house. This is not a typo. 4 weeks. Understanding it was the beginning of the heating season, I was patient and waited. When they finally came out Ireland installed a part on my the humidifier that turned faulty within 5 days of its installation. Called four times to have them come out and replace the faulty part and was told "we will call you back." 5 days later they still had not called back. I phone again and was told on the phone that if they came out, they would have to charge me overtime as it was a Saturday. Not only a charge for a a warranty case, but overtime!! You are better served to call someone else other than Ireland. There is more to an HVAC business than being courteous and nice. I would be nice too if I took your money and didn't have to stand behind my work. I would be nice too if I charged a very high hourly rate and took my time getting the work done. read more

I would like to highly recommend Ireland Heating and Air Conditioning. Ireland is a multi generation family business who provides reasonably priced, excellent service. I have had Ireland service all of our family homes for many years. We have needed just basic service and at times needed to replace heating/cooling systems. There have been emergencies as well. Each and every time they have gone out of their way to be quick, thorough and honest. Today I thought we would have to replace an older AC unit that I was expecting to burn out in any given year very soon. BUT Ireland came out to take a look and gave me great news! My experience with the Ireland family started in December when they were referred to me for a heating problem in my home where our usual company was coming up with all kind of crazy reasons why it kept turning off. They came in, diagnosed the issue quickly, and fixed it all that morning. No more run-around. Then in January I brought them into my business to address a heating issue there, and same results- they were out quickly, solved the problem, and all occurred professionally and without drama (Thank god!). Wow! I had a tech come to my home to inspect my furnace and the first thing he said was he smelled something wrong. Well, after a careful inspection and sharing his views with me I knew something was wrong with my furnace. That same day the owner of Ireland came to my home to inspect and he simply said that I needed a new furnace whether his company did the work or someone else. He discussed my options. I made a few phone calls and learned that no one would match Ireland's price for a 95% furnace by Carrier. Called them back and my furnace was installed the next day. That was significant because during the night the old one stopped working. Our house dropped to 52 degrees. This company had no history with me and they took a leap of faith as much as I did. These people are just plain nice folks and they care a lot about what they do. They actually called after the install to make sure our home was warming up! Excellent experience with Ireland. During a cold spell, I woke up to a cold house. I had used another company before but their service had declined greatly so I looked for a new company. Despite being inundated with calls, the scheduler at Ireland was courteous and professional. Tim, the service technician, called before he arrived, he was courteous and helpfully explained everything as he worked. He took a good look at the furnace and found that I needed a part. He was able to get my furnace to run and maintain heat during the cold spell until the part arrived. The same technician returned to install the part, and I appreciated the consistency of working with the same technician and not having to explain the problem to a new person. While working on my furnace, Tim also discovered the root cause of a problem with my AC that the previous company failed to fix despite several visits and big bills. We loved the new house we bought this summer, but we were dreading dealing with the monster furnace in the basement that was original to the house (1960s). It needed to go, and the AC needed to be replaced, too. We had called another plumbing company, but they were sketchy (to put it mildly) and we felt uncomfortable. I do deliveries at this place and, the girl there was so rude and had an aweful attitude. I was trying to unload and, I said here is your stuff. She just stood there with an attitude and her arms crossed and said, well. Bring it over here...I said that it wasnt kn s pallet, she said it's not my problem, you brought it here like that you can bring it down. Even though they have a forklift, a 2 wheeler. I said, fine then if it gets damaged it's not my fault, your supposed to receive it. So I brought it down and she brought out a pallet jack and just stood there. It was off my truck at that point. Not my problem. She says with her attitude. Well...put it on the thing as she gave me her dirty face. I struggled to put it on with no help from her, I suppose she wanted me to put it away for her too. I've had other experiences there where someone wont help, just stands there and, had a better than you attitude. Think they have been sitting in the office too long. They forgot how it is to treat people like people. Even if I'm out of line, which I'm not, your in customer service, learn how to be a decent respectful person... read more

I had a really BAD experience with this company and I would NOT recommend their services to anybody...The AC problem was misdiagnosed, they kept coming and charging me for the visits but were unable to solve the problem. They disconnected my AC unit and put some bypass cables through the kitchen window and ceiling leading to the inside unit. They told me that the mice may have eaten the cables inside the ceiling (!?)and the ceiling has to be opened and examined, and they will not proceed with the repair because they do not know what to do. I had the bypass cable hanging from my kitchen chandelier for 5 years. Last month my friend (with NO HVAC experience) reconnected the old cables and made my AC working again. read more
