You get what you pay for with Superior Tree Service. We had them take out a large tree in our yard, largely due to the price offered, which was lower than the rates offered by other tree services. The men did a good job taking the tree down, but when they left the first afternoon (it was a two day job), they left several very heavy branches against our wooden fence which pushed it over almost to the ground. When I contacted their office to ask that they make it right by either coming back and resetting my fence or paying for the repair, I was met with denial that they'd done anything wrong. I included pictures of the damage done to the fence and the fence before and after the tree was removed, which clearly proved they had damaged the fence by leaning the branches against it. Despite the clear evidence, the woman in the office there brushed off my complaint and ghosted me. The prices they offer may be lower than their competitors but it comes at a cost. A huge tree came uprooted the night before, an this was a big tree that came down. So I called the next morning at around 9am, the man from the company was their in about 25min. He looked over the destruction of the large tree, gave me a great estimate and me and my father said yes. In about 15min most of the crew was already on site beginning to cut and section the massive pine tree. An when all the tree had been removed the crew began to rake and leaf blower all the Wood shaving and tree material that was in the road. When they were done it didn't even look like a tree had fallen, everything was perfectly cleaned up. We've seen Superior Tree Service in my neighborhood on multiple occasions and decided to get their contact information to have 2 Oak trees removed, canopy another three and trim down a Bay tree significantly. Amador came to see the project and we were quoted an amount that was in our budget and decided to move forward with them. Once we confirmed the contract Amador said his team would be at our home the following morning (Wed.) at 8am. To keep this part short, they were suppose to come Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and never showed up. After going back and forth with them for days about their lack of communication we agreed to Monday morning. The issue we had with this part is we changed our work schedules, meetings, and other life things to make sure we were present with the expectations of them holding up their end of scheduling. Once they began the project, they only sent 2 workers. Each time we have seen them in the neighborhood no less than 10 people and our project was pretty sizable. They came the first day, left all debris lined up in front of my home and the neighbors which was a big problem. The next day, no one showed. Not one person and once again zero communication. After having a few professional choice words around disappointment, the following day they sent 3 men and continued the work. Start to finish, it took them 2 weeks to complete the job. The Oak trees were done to our liking and canopying of another tree. The Bay tree is A MESS. It was just chopped with no vision or plan. I've never seen a trim like this in my life. Not only was the trim eye torture but it was not cut down to the area we discussed. Amador like all shady sales people "oh no you said, rememberer you said" which was all untrue. Finally, we decided to just do away with working with them and he refunded $200 which was nearly not enough for the work we have to put in to fix their mess. They also did not come pick up the debris until the day after the job was complete and we had so many issues with our neighbors because its a fire hazard. Not a good way to be welcomed into our neighborhood. Our new neighbors asked for a recommendation and we immediately said NO. This is an update to the 5 star review I gave for work last December. It is really a relatively small issue but bothers me, nonetheless. I am 74 and not in a position to take care of it myself so was looking to Superior to do it as it was part of the contract. One of the trees that was taken down was supposed to have either it stump destroyed or the stump poisoned by drilling holes and using a herbicide to kill it. The stump sprouted and is now 6 feet high with lots of sprouts coming from it. Eucalyptus is a fast growing tree but, despite many calls and texts and some promises from Sergio that someone was coming to take care of this, no one has come since the initial request in July. Nor is Sergio returning my calls or texts. Superior did a super job last December but has fallen down on this small matter which was part of our original contract. I am disappointed about this but see no option other than calling another tree service to take care of it before it becomes a more serious issue. read more

And YES, a tree in front (not trimmed for 15+ years) was shaping out as a huge bush, lol! We agreed on a (very) fair price and they were able to start trimming/cutting the tree that same day. We reached out to superior to clean up our Palm tree in the back. They quoted up and were supposed to show at 8am the next day for what they told us would be a full day job. Next day came around and they didn't show, didn't answer the phones etc. around 3pm that same day they showed up, didn't ring the doorbell or anything, just let themselves in our backyard and started cutting. An hour later they left, no communication, not finishing the job and leaving all of the trimmings along with stumps from another job in our front yard. So far all attempts for repayment for what we paid to patch the damage have gone without response from the business. I should have read the reviews before calling Superior Tree Service. After being quoted $4000 for view trimming and cleaning out an heritage oak tree's dead limbs, I agreed to have them do the job. Sergio said it would take one full day. The crew didn't arrive until 11:45 on the scheduled work day, walked down the hill to see the job, and then came up with an excuse that they couldn't do the work because their chan saw blade was broken, and re-scheduled for the following week. As they were leaving, one of the crew members took a $15 item from my yard while I watched through the window, and tossed it into a bag of tools. Sergio has told me he fired the employee. Very disappointed! Did not live up to their signed agreement. Superior Tree Services asked for permission to use our driveway to remove debris from a tree they were taking down on our neighbor's hillside. Superior Tree Services has previously performed work for us. They did a professional job but accidentally broke a driveway landscape light and some irrigation heads. They graciously repaired them. Since we were not their client this time, we asked them to sign an agreement that our driveway would be cleaned and any irrigation or landscape light damage would be repaired at their expense. Unfortunately the same driveway light was once again broken. The manager asked us to order a new one, have it installed and send him the bills. Well.....after some delays in obtaining the new lamp (due to COVId) )Superior Tree Services is ignitions our calls and texts for reimbursement. The good guy gets the short end of this stick! I've used Superior Tree Service for several years. Every year in February their rep knocks on the door and asks if we need any tree work done. "I just want to keep my guys working" is the pitch. But it also came with good "off season" prices, so every year I've done some work. The work itself has been good. Last year they took down two large redwood trees. They worked fast and within two days the tree was gone and the debris hauled away (mostly). Their check-collector works even faster. As the guys were still loading up she came by asking for a check. The only thing left was to grind the stumps, which would be taken care of later in the afternoon. So i stupidly gave them a check. The stump grinders arrived around 5:30 p.m., when I was on my way out. They would need to come back the next day so I asked them just to do it the next day, as I wanted to be present. The next day it rained, and for a week after that. They didn't return, ever. They also didn't haul away a large stack of tree limbs I had stacked in the corner of my yard, which their rep had agreed to haul away as a "bonus" to get me to do more work. I called their rep several times and got no response. The last time, a few months ago, I told him I would have to get someone else to do the work and take them to small claims court. He showed up that day. We talked about what needed to be done and he promised to get someone over within a week. Of course, they never showed up. That was months ago. It's a shame, really. I was satisfied with their work in general. It's not "platinum standard," more like bronze. But they were solid and well priced in the off season. But this year he didn't come by and I wasn't going to go begging again. Four stars for good work and value, minus 2 stars for bad customer service. read more

We had gotten other quotes and they said they would not remove the stump, so we decided to go with Superior Tree Service. After the tree was removed, they asked for their full payment but had not removed the stump. The person collecting the money said it was a mistake, and it was not something they could have done!
